So work has been really slow lately and I decided to try out some writing prompts to fill some time. I ended up with two pieces of text that I don't completely hate, so I thought I'd post them here. I might try some worldbuilding on the second story later. I have absolutely no experience writing fiction, so I'd appreciate any feedback you'd be willing to give me. Though if you don't like it, please don't just say 'it stinks'? Please point out what you didn't like and maybe offer a suggestion for improvement? So here goes nothing... This is an intro to (what was going to be a) short story, written largely to practice my descriptions. It's only about 1k words long, so the part I've sent should hopefully make for a quick read. In particular, I'd appreciate feedback on a) the descriptions (effectiveness and/or amounts), and speculation as to where you think the story is eventually going.
