  1. I was thinking about Alloy of Law, and I came to a theory about how one might go about making a Mistborn. I'm almost certain others have thought of this before me, but as usual a ten minute search turned up not much, so please link me to any relevant theories prior. Here goes. Mistborn: Recipes makes one Mistborn Ingredients: Two Mistings of every type Two Hemalurgic spikes for each Allomantic metal (can substitute Atium in a pinch!) Two candidates, one male and one female Instructions: Take each Misting, and spike them in the appropriate location with the corresponding allomantic spike, stealing their ability and killing them in the process. Tying them up and rendering them unconscious can make this step easier. Apply each finished spike immediately to one of the recipient candidates. Each candidate should get one allomantic spike of each type. One all sixteen spikes have been applied to the two candidates, allow candidates to recover. Once their condition is improved and they do not scream when touched, place both candidates in an enclosed room with a bed. For higher chances of a successful Mistborn, add flowers, a nice dinner, some white, and lounge music. Wait nine months, and remove baby from candidate. If everything has gone to plan, you should have a natural and unspiked little Mistborn. Snap and Serve.
  2. Draft 1: Forging The Spiritweb Forgive me for length, it is long, and hopefully complete. Disclaimer Let's begin by describing... The Nature of Investiture: Next, what is the spirit web? According to Cannon, lacking a better defenition than this, I have provided my own. (there is another descriptive quote under the topic of Hemelurgy, below) The Spirt-Web, is the sum total of all physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and other ties a person object or thing have to other people objects or things. The comparison to a physical web might be useful for many purposes. For a person, This Web defines who they are. To start our analogy, there will be several strands beginning at the center (the person in question) and extending outward, linking to past events, future hopes, current desires, descriptive attributes, and other details that accurately depict the SOUL of the person to whome this spirit web happens to belong. In addition to these, there will be many additional strands. Some of these additional strands will link to people, or ideas to which this person is familiar. There will be strands that connect one attirbute this person has attained, with others. Memories will form, Etcetera, etcetera. So far, this explains (sort-of) why the Spirit Web is approximately equal to the SOUL, as far as practical discussion is concerned. But what about mystical abilities? Yes, every mystical ability described in the Cosmere uses the spiritweb. Every mystical ability a given person has will either have it's own section of the spiritweb describing its function, or will utilize some pre-existing part of the web that they individually, or that all people possess. A Note on sDNA
  3. First and foremost, let me preface by saying that my general impression of this site is that while we may kid sometimes, our humor does not tend towards the crude, so I feel comfortable broaching this topic assuming it will stay as a scholarly discussion and not devolve into something lewd. If I'm proven wrong, I will be the first to petition the Admins to delete the entire thread. We know a few facts. (I will look up citations when I get a chance, unless someone beats me to it). 1. At least one aspect of your spiritual DNA is determined by where you are born; i.e. if two Rosharans moved to Nalthis and started a family, their children's spiritwebs would be affected by the environment of Nalthis, though we don't know for certain what that would entail. 2. The moment of conception determines certain things about a person's origins. There is also, in my opinion, strong evidence that Elsecallers can physically enter Shadesmar, though there are MANY major spoilers for WoR to back up my point. It's also, I believe, widely assumed though I'm not sure I've seen the WoB, that Hoid worldhops by physically entering the cognitive realm. As such, it's not a preposterous assumption that others might be able to physically enter the Cognitive Realm, too. Here, then, is my question. What would happen to the spiritweb of someone who was conceived while his parents were in the Cognitive Realm?
  4. So apparently all metals are allomanticlly reactive, but some just have the effect of killing you. If you were to burn Lead, you could die. So when does an alloy become a bad alloy? Kelsier said that the Purer the metal is, the more power you get, but if the alloy is off, you still get Power. So if you're burning 98% tin and 2 % lead, then the lead doesn't do anything. Yet, if you burn 91% tin, and 9% lead, you get pewter. When does a metal become a weak Alloy? is 96% tin 4% lead a weak Tin or a Weak Pewter? Is it Both? I'm assuming that since you can burn all metals, they all have they're own sDNA, but how is the sDNA of a non-allomantic metal deadly? and how do two types of sDNA combine to form a new alloy? When does a pewter alloy have enough lead to become deadly? For that matter, if Aluminum destroys the sDNA of metals, how can it possibly be alloyed with Copper? Recap, When does a percentage become weak? Deadly? How does it become deadly?
