I have this whole detailed fantasy about being able to take my cats on the plane without it being A Whole Production involving pills, tears, and puncture wounds. I just need to know: would I be able to Soothe them? (Assuming that I had the proper Allomantic abilities).

While I was making today’s random twinborn combination, I realized that I haven’t really explored the difference between rioting and soothing, and kind of equated them as different methods of getting the same effect. But that isn’t really true, is it? I mean…is it? Say you want to sneak past guards that are guarding a very important keepsake of a noble. Soothing away their alertness or their sense of fervor might get them to be less ready to stop you if you were to sneak past them. Rioting their sense of tiredness would also do a similar thing, and get pretty much the same result. But would one be more effective than the other? Is there a scenario where one would work where the other would fail? I’m nearly certain there is, yet I can’t quite find a clear scenario where one is clearly better than the other. I suppose if you’re manipulating someone that has extreme emotions already (if they’re really angry or scared, for example), then soothing would be the way to go. But would rioting still do the trick? Well, at what point is calmness not another emotion you can riot, as it is just the more neutral variant of being in fight or flight mode?

We learn from TLR's storage cache that multiple Soothers or Rioters working jointly can take over a Koloss or Kandra. Who gets control? I'm assuming it is not Twitch Plays Koloss as funny as that would be. A couple options: 1. The "last" person that breaks through the control resistance after the others have weakened the Koloss. 2. Whomever is Soothing or Rioting the strongest. Maybe I should put my next thought into a new thread, but it's related. I'm pretty sure Inquisitors during the days of TLR could take control the Koloss and direct them for battle, even before Ruin's escape. It looks like Ruin could later direct Inquisitors to take over Koloss armies, though Ruin could I suppose do this directly and give the illusion of ceding control to Vin and Elend. I can't remember if any of the Marsh viewpoints has him directing Koloss. It does look like you can Hemalurgic creatures controlling other Hemalurgic creatures though. At any rate, assume you are able to capture an Inquisitor and break its resistance and control it by either a Duralumin Soothing or Breeze's whole Soothing team working together. Could you then direct the Inquisitor to assist you with Soothing the next Inquisitor as you try to convert the Steel Ministry to be under your control until it becomes a Soothing control war? That's a different conflict, but in essence I was wondering if the Steel Inquisitors had a hierarchy not just in authority but in emotional control over their peers. When Marsh was made into an Inquisitor why didn't they jointly bind him to their service, particularly before giving him Copper? Why hasn't TLR been directing everything this way? Maybe he did and it didn't matter when Marsh killed the Inquisitors in their sleep, though apparently TLR didn't feel the Inquisitors die. Maybe Ruin was weakening TLR and Karr's control over Marsh to get TLR offed. What I can't tell is if Hemalurgic creatures need to be constantly Soothed, Rioted, or mental control exerted over them to maintain the mind control bond once you take over anything other than the mentally crippled Koloss. Vin deliberately severed her bond with TenSoon to not control him and everything else was probably affected by Ruin. That could explain why this doesn't work for anything other than Koloss. Thoughts?

fabrials [OB] Dalinar and the thrill; What’s next
SzethIsBadAsHell posted a topic in Stormlight Archive
I first posted this what if in another group , a less enlightened group. The discussion was interesting so I thought I would ask you guys and see what you guys thought! Dalinar has trapped Nergaul inside the Kings Drop. A perfect ruby! So what’s the plan now ! Do they put it in a vault in Urithiru and say that’s it? What if Navani got ahold of the Kong’s Drop? What could she do with it . Could she make a Fabrial with it that When turned on sent men on the battlefield into a bezerker frenzy ? Seems logical, but would Dalinar , ever want to use something like that? Probably not , why would Dalinar want to Riot everyone on a battlefield ? The answer is he wouldn’t .... But , then I remembered Navani pain fabrial !!! And, how when Navani was in trouble she reversed the fabrial that was designed to remove pain and made it inflict pain instead!!’ The possibilities made my eyes pop. If she made Nergaul a giant Rioting Fabrial could she then reverse it and Create a Gigantic Soother . That is Something I could see Dalinar putting To Devestating effect. Seeing as they are fighting the Fused, who simply get another Body When killed , the obvious solution is to deny them bodies to possess. And this is a very good tool to use against the passion inspired Singers! thoughts- 6 replies

I'm just going to cut straight to the point. Does being inside a speed bubble affect emotional allomancy? Or how? I can't remember if this was answered in Era II, so if someone knows...
