Hello, this is a quick thread about curiosity basically. We know that to become an allomancer, you swallow a load of metals and, at least BC, beat to an inch of your life to make you Snap. Then you burn the metals. Harmony changed how Snapping works because he didn’t like it, so how does one find out they’re a Allomancer? Is it institutional, where kids in school are given metals to try and burn? And how about Feruchemy. Assuming it doesn’t require any form of Snap, how does one discover they’re one? Do you just stop by the Village and the Terris people give you some minds to hold? How do you find out you’re metal born?

I've occasionally seen posts asking about whether or not people would choose to be an Allomancer or a Feruchemist, or what other kind of magic user they'd like to be, but I haven't yet seen one for Kandra. But it seems like they have a lot going for them; they don't age (or hardly do, at least), they don't get sick, they can give themselves a perfect body- or pretty much any body (including non human ones) that they want so long as it conforms to physics, they can do neat things like turn off their pain receptors or graft flesh onto someone else to heal them, And to top it off they get a magical boon from their Blessings. So who wouldn't want to be a Kandra instead of a Mistborn, Feruchemist, or maybe even a Fullborn? Explanations of opinions welcomed.

From what we know about Era 3, the protagonist’s brother is one of the few characters we know about. Since his nerdy sister has Allomantic powers and we know both are Terris, that suggests he could be a Metalborn. So I pose the question to you: what powers might he have? Also, friendly reminder that as far as we know, siblings aren’t especially likely to share metals. We know twins of either type do so more commonly, but not how much regular siblings share compared to unrelated people. Make of that what you will (option listed other more esoteric combos like Mistborn + Ferring. it’s inclusion is a formality, as are Mistborn and Full Feruchemist to a lesser extent. I don’t expect anything with more powers than a Twinborn)

So iirc, Mistborn could see through the mists. So can Mistings, right? Do you know if Ferrings/Feruchemists can see through the mists as well? Anyway. Mists can power Allomancy, and according to WoB, Feruchemy as well if someone knows what they're doing. But it's interesting to me that mists seem to empower Mistings by more than just their metallic power: From BoM: So does that mean that the Mists can provide just a touch of any of the powers? Brandon also said that a Misting's power is determined by genetics, and that Mists can empower and Snap someone who ordinarily wouldn't have enough allomantic potential. So does that mean, since all Mistings are descendants of full Mistborn, that they have like, 60% potential for their primary power and 1% or something for all the others. And the mists empower this one percent?

I don't know if a similar question has been posted, but I wanted to know what people would want to have if they could have one of the Metallic Arts (Meaning ferring or misting. No twinborn, full feruchemists, or mistborn here! Or hemalurgic constructs.) Personally, I would probably go with either Slider (allomantic bendalloy) or Steelrunner (feruchemical steel) because they can manipulate time, which is pretty cool. Both have disadvantages and advantages, so I can't really decide. What would you pick if you could?

If someone will gain allomantic or feruchemical abilities by being spiked with hemalurgic spike and he will have children, did his children will inherit (with standard genetic posibility) metalic abilities?

I don't know if someone already brought this up, but Wax's earring is a hermalurgic spoke, right? Hermalurgic spikes give powers of the metallic arts. Can anyone see Wax helping to resolve the plot by suddenly pulling a piece of metal, instead of pushing? Or maybe cloaking his allomancy with copper? A sudden burst of feruchemal speed would be cool.
