  1. For two years, I (Cheyenne), Rob from Malkier Talks, and Andrew from the Black Tower Podcast have hosted WOTaHoliday to help raise funds for the Lightweaver Foundation during the holidays, and every year without fail, the Wheel of Time community has jumped in with their overwhelming support. This year, we're reaching for an even higher goal of $10k, and are looking forward to 24 hours of fun, laughter and joy. The Lightweaver Foundation contributes to food pantries & homeless shelters, but also makes sure books are readily available to those in need. Join us on December 11th for year 2 of the Wot-A-Holiday livestream event, supported by the Charity of Time. Help us get books to schools, prisons, hospitals, and homeless shelters. The following are our schedule and promotional poster. Livestream: https://youtu.be/Z0vEFC7zETo I will be at the opening and closing ceremonies, since I am on the planning committee, as well as a slot at 3pm on Sunday with Ilana and Alfonsina, my cohosts on Worldhoppers. I hope that if you’re a fan of the Wheel of Time, whether it be the books or the show you can join us, and if you’re able, donate to this wonderful cause that the Lightweaver Foundation furthers. Brandon and Jane have prerecorded the answers to a couple of questions for us, which we appreciate immensely. This is a cause I believe in and would like to invite you to participate in as well.
  2. Packed update this week! It's been announced that the Dawnshard audiobook will release in August, a physical version of Secret History is up for preorder with a new cover, merchandise and badge pricing has been released for the Dragonsteel con this November, and r/books will be holding an AMA with Brandon this Thursday. First up, at long, long last, the Dawnshard audiobook will be releasing August 16th! It can be preordered now on Google Play or Apple Books, and probably the other usual places too (can't find a full list). It's unclear whether it will be released on Audible or not, as there doesn't seem to be any listing for it right now despite it being up elsewhere. And because Brandon can't just release one thing at a time, a new US hardcover edition of Mistborn: Secret History will come out on September 20th! It can be preordered now from Amazon, and has a brand-new cover by Howard Lyon: Also, pricing for the Dragonsteel 2022 con is out! Details can be found on the event's FAQ, and a summary is in the box below: Sales open on July 11th, and an early bird discount code for the General Admission Badge will be announced then. Not all events require flying out to Utah, though – Brandon will be doing an AMA on r/books this Thursday, July 7th at 6PM Mountain Time. Note that from the sound of it, this will NOT be a normal AMA, but instead will be closer to one of his monthly livestreams, just taking questions from the r/books AMA rather than r/brandonsanderson and with someone transcribing the answers from the stream and posting them in the thread. And lastly, there are of course the usual progress updates: Secret Project 1 is being sent off to the printers to prepare for the Year of Sanderson, Brandon is finishing up revisions on Secret Project 2 and will be starting revisions on Secret Project 3 before going back to writing Stormlight Book 5. What do you think of the new Secret History cover? How many years have you aged waiting for the Dawnshard audiobook? Will you be attending the con? Let us know in the comments below! As always, the Weekly Update video can be found on YouTube or right below this paragraph.
  3. Where can I find out when a Brandon livestream is scheduled?
  4. Last year I (Cheyenne), along with Rob from Malkier Talks and Andrew from the Black Tower Podcast wanted to create a charity event from the holidays, and within hours of putting the idea out into the world, the Wheel of Time community jumped in with overwhelming support. Dates were picked, over 24 hosts were scheduled, and when the Lightweaver Foundation was suggested, the decision was unanimous, and a wonderful event spanning 24 hours was hosted, where we could talk about the books we love, while bringing food and books to the people that need them. The following are our schedule and promotional poster, as well as the link for the Just Giving page where you can make donations. Just Giving: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wotaholidaylive Livestream: https://youtu.be/fvT_UXgXWeA I will be at the opening and closing ceremonies, since I am on the planning committee, as well as the Westlands Fashion segment with some wonderful artists and Katie Sedai from Dragonmount, as well as with Fantasy for the Ages along with Ilana and Alfonsina, my cohosts on Worldhoppers. I hope that if you’re a fan of the Wheel of Time, whether it be the books or the show you can join us, and if you’re able, donate to this wonderful cause that the Lightweaver Foundation furthers. We are uncertain if Brandon will be able to join us at some point, or if we will only have a short video from him like we did last year, but regardless, this is a cause I believe in and would like to invite you to participate in as well.
  5. This is last minute, but: the release party at BYU tonight will be livestreamed! It is my understanding this will happen via Google+ Hangouts on Air, so it should be accessible from Brandon's Youtube or his Google+ page. We will keep you updated and edit this post with the exact livestream link when the time comes! The line thus far has been wonderful, though wristbands have been going fast. This morning, when we started lining up there were about 170 people. That image there is the line, and it actually goes around the corner a bit. Crazy, isn't it? Brandon posted about an hour ago that about half of the bookstore's copies of Words of Radiance are claimed. If you plan to go to the release, please go to the BYU Bookstore and buy it, or buy it online and show them your receipt. If you're going, we hope to see you there! There will be various awesome games at 10:00pm when the doors open, and then Brandon will start his public Q&A and reading at 10:45pm. But if you can't come, you won't miss out on the Brandonium goodness--just watch the stream! We will keep you very much posted, and let you know via Twitter what's going on. Also, don't worry, many pictures from the weekend will be in our Gallery and our Facebook page. Words of Radiance comes out tonight at midnight in the United States. Talk about it in our Words of Radiance board, though remember to only discuss sample chapters until the release at midnight Pacific. Review the spoiler policies. Read a wonderful, heartwarming introduction to why Words of Radiance is what Brandon has always wanted to write, by the man himself. And if you're still somehow in doubt that Words of Radiance is better than its predecessor, check out our spoiler-free review. EDIT: Mi'ch here. Due to technical difficulties, we will be unable to livestream. However, we are recording everything right now and will post as soon as we are able. Sorry!
