  1. So, I’m finally making one of these! I’ve know about this for quite some time but I finally decided to make one because I finally have things to share! Also it’s nice to be able to ask questions myself rather than having to ask through a friend or something. Also just super excited in general to be a part of this fan base! It’s kinda crazy how many of us there are. Looking forward to it! -Scarecrow
  2. Guest

    Hello

I like The Way Of kings… I’m new to the shard…that’s all folks!
  3. Hello! I usually go by my user (Cara/Caramel). This account has been here for a while (though I got logged out and completely forgot about it until yesterday), and a fan of Brandon's works for even longer than that. I wouldn't have known about Brandon if it wasn't for my dad who also happens to be an avid fantasy reader. Alcatraz and the Evil Librarians (book 1) was the first work of Brandon that I've read, though it wasn't until I read Steelheart --that was almost one or two years ago; time flies by so fast--that I started getting into more of his works. Aside from those, I've already read the first Mistborn Era, the Alloy of Law, Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, Skyward, Starsight, and listened to The Rithmatist and the rest of the Alcatraz series on audiobook. So far those are the only ones I've read. My dad says Warbreaker, Elantris, and Legion might still be too hard for me to understand so I'm not allowed to read them yet. As for the others, I'm still on the lookout for them in my local bookstores. Anyways, I'm looking forward to interacting with this community! Nice to meet you all.

    Hi !!

Hey!!! I just joined and I'm super excited. I kind of silently lurked here before I made this account, but now I can actually interact! Woo. I'm Mae, she/her. I love Cosmere, especially Stormlight!! I just finished Mistborn Era 1 and I'm currently working on Alloy of Law : D I've drawn some art for Sanderson's books before, and can I just say that it's super hard to work out how to draw literally anyone's face shape??? And it's just with his books that I have this problem. Especially Kaladin's Young But Has Been Through Some Stuff kind of look.
  5. Greetings and salutations! After lurking for, well an embarrassingly long time I finally decided to join the Shard! Looking forward to finally jumping in some conversations here
  6. Hello! I am an Angry Mistspren. I have read most of the Cosmere books and have finally decided to immerse myself in the fandom. By the way, I haven’t read his short stories, and I’m trying to get my hands on a copy of Arcanum Unbounded. However, I have pored through everything else, and I have done lots of research on the Coppermind. These books were introduced to me by my older brother after I finished the Steelheart Trilogy, and the Rithmatist. (Yes, I do not believe that those books are Cosmere) My favorite Cosmere book is The Way Of Kings, and my favorite Cosmere character is either Elend or Syl. The world that I would live on in the Cosmere is Nalthis, and I have an adoration of bright colors. I am extremely excited to be on this forum, and to be immersed in the fandom. *unintelligible mist whooshes* Angry Mistspren
  7. Hello! I am here! It's funny, I picked the name "Edgedancer Jak" definitely to be tongue-in-cheek, but I actually like it more now then when I came up with it. Edgedancers are pretty awesome, and their Ideals are powerful. "I will remember those who have been forgotten." "I will listen to those who have been ignored." While I don't live those as well as I should, I would like to be that kind of person. One of the many things I love about Brandon's work is that so much of it has analogies to life and faith. It's not uncommon for me to finish one of his books and feel enriched, like I learned something valuable or gained a new perspective on some aspect of living. To be able to bring that to pass in readers while providing such engaging entertainment is truly special. Of course, the Cosmere is also stinking awesome. Yeah, the magic stuff is cool, but my favorite part of it is that holes that you don't even know are holes keep getting filled (c.f. Mistborn: Secret History). Man, I just love it. And there's so much more left! It sure is a good thing he's so darn prolific.
  8. I have been a fan for almost 2 years now, and I am finally making a profile on here, hopefully keeping it recent. I am very interested in the mistborn magic system, and all the other magic systems for that reason. I am slowly uncovering small things that might have been overlooked in the books, but ill have to see if anyone else picked up on them yet.
  9. hello i am a huge fan of Brandon. He is why i'm writing a book. i love trading cards and other nerdy stuff like that. i actually have a cool idea for a TCG from Mistborn. yep thats all. im lame.
  10. Hello! I stumbled across Sanderson's Three Laws of Magic around a month ago and got curious about his stuff, so I browsed around his website. I found the foreword to Way of Kings, and found myself intrigued by how he described it. Fast forwards to now and I have just finished Words of Radiance and found myself interested in his other works. Imagine my surprise to find out that most of it is all interconnect as one interconnected universe. I did some more snooping and discovered that this forum, which I assume is basically the hub of the Sanderson fandom. So, my question to you all is, how important is knowledge of the Cosmere? Is there a particular order I should read his series in, and how closely do they all tie together? Is it a case of 'these all happen in the same universe, but that's more just an interesting detail' or is it more 'all the series have impacts on one another in some form, and learning more about the Cosmere itself can spoil the more minor stories.' Thank you for your time!
  11. So yeah, a big fan of Brandon here. I've read all of his books except Bands of Mourning and The Dark Talent. I can't really say anything about my favorite series - immediately after reading an Alcatraz book I'll decide I love pun-filled tales of Oculators breaking things, after a Reckoner's novel I'll have a sudden wish for more Epicness, after a Mistborn story I'll desire Coinshots chasing each other over rooftops, and so on. I used to pride myself on an above-average ability to make up downright awful puns. That is, until I started reading some of the other forum posts on here. *bows* I am not worthy! I also have a few theories, like everyone else, which I may test in the theorizing forum. However, I'll probably stay clear of those until I've finished Bands - I hate spoilers, as the person who spoiled the Red Wedding for me will attest to. Well, if he makes it out of hospital (not really). So yeah, that's me. *bows and exits*.
  12. My name is Craig, but I will also answer to Uilos or just Los. I am a nascent writer and game developer, working primarily with a team for a live action roleplay game of The Dresden Files. I'm also a massive Star Wars nerd and lightsaber combat enthusiast and philosopher. I became a fan of Brandon when he went on tour for the first Wheel of Time book that he had done. A friend had taken me to the signing in Manhattan and she put Mistborn: the Final Empire, in my hand. After listening to Brandon talk, and listening and reading most of his works, he is the author I most look to when wanting to learning world and magic building. I'm most interested in the Cosmology (or Cosmereology) that Brandon as cooking. He's making one hell of a long term story, and he's got me hooked until he finished. After Bands of Mourning and Secret Histories, I decided it was time to step up and start sharing thoughts.
  13. Hi, everyone! I'm new, obviously. What can I say about myself? I decided to join the 17th Shard after seeing representatives from the forum at the Bands of Mourning midnight release party. Probably my favorite 3 things I've read from Brandon are the Alcatraz books, the Reckoners series, and the Stormlight Archive (in no particular order). Um... I'm a student at BYU-Provo, now 21 years old, and I love Salt Lake Comic Con and will use it and basically anything else I can come up with as an excuse to dress up as someone other than myself. I love to read--mostly fantasy/scifi, but I will step outside those genres on basis of recommendations--and my GoodReads profile has more on what books I've loved and hated. Well, that's basically me... I'm looking forward to geeking out about all things Brandon with you guys!
  14. Hello! I'm ~sylphrena~, and I'm excited to join the 17th shard! I'd love to get to know some of you better, so here are a few questions... Eye color? I'm darkeyed and proud of it Favorite characters from SA/Mistborn/Elantris? Mine are Vin, Ellend, Syl, Pattern, Kaladin, Shallan, and Wax (to name a few) Favorite Sanderson book that is not SA or Mistborn and why? (I'm trying to decide which to read next) An interesting fact about Sel, Roshar, Scadrial or the cosmere in general... Thanks! Oh, and I hope we do track down Wit eventually. He's quite entertaining, IMO.
  15. It's great to finally have an account here so I can get to know all of you. I've been following Brandon Sanderson's work for just over a year now, so I'm pretty new to him. But he's an exceptional writer and his books are epic. About me? I own an airstream, those silver bullets you see towed down the road every now and then. We're (my ife and I) remodeling the interior and it's a ton of work! Currently, I am a computer technician. Personally, I believe running is a terrific way to listen to "Writing Excuses", though my wife disagrees. I love coffee. Passionately enough to roast my own. Sumatra single blend anyone? Shoot me a message if you want to know, well, anything about me. I'm looking forward to talking with everyone here!
  16. Hi guys! My name is Daniel, I'm a new 17th Sharder, and I've read some of your theories. Very interesting thoughts. I hope to become better acquainted with the Cosmere and to eventually read all of Sanderson's books. By the way, does anyone have a list of published books and/or unpublished ones? Thanks!
  17. Soooo....never joined a fan site, but I have SO MANY theories, ideas, and thoughts (spren) floating around in my head that I had to get on board! I have read all of B.S.' works, and been thoroughly impressed, but no epic fantasy book since WoT has been able to capture my imagination and mental attention in such a way as the Stormlight Archive. Since indoctrinating my husband, you should hear some of our arguments where he tells me "stop treating me like a dark eyes!!!" since I have blue and he has brown eyes.....oh....nerd love. Anyway, since finishing WoR via written word and audio, I have been left with a very unsettled feeling (no spoilers) and I have to figure out if anyone else thinks the same things!?! Since my husband and I can't agree on any theories, I need to see what everyone else thinks!!! Thanks for hosting me, 7th Shard!!!
  18. I was told by the internet to post here first, and who am I to question the internet? Anyway, for the sake of introductions, I'm Alex. I just finished reading WOK for the third time, and figured I should start a presence here in anticipation of the flurry of revelations that I'm sure will follow the release of WOR. (In all honesty, it was kicked off by the chapters released by tor today. There's just SOOO much to pick through now!) I've been a long time reader of various posts and theories but haven't posted anything, as I've been playing catch up ever since I first finished WOK. As far as espoused theories, there's not much I could say that hasn't already been said before; the 17th shard is on the purelake, Hoid is writing the letter (though have yet to see why it can't be a shardholder), and Baxil's mistress is Shalash... I suppose one thing to add is that if Shalash is alive, that implies that all of the other heralds are as well. Anyway, I'm sure there is lots more to learn and WOR is sure to add tons of awesome stuff to that pile. Thanks!
  19. Hello from St. Louis. I'm a high-school student, who has recently found Sanderson. I've read most of his works except for the Wheel of Time series (I don't have time to read them) and Steelheart (I'm working on that). I should probably give you a little bit of information about myself. I've read a lot of YA novels (except Twilight, I refuse to read that), but Brandon Sanderson is one of my first introductions to Adult fantasy. I lurked around Shurtugal for a while, but after the final book came out in the series, it wasn't the same. I browsed Game of Thrones forums for a bit, but I never got involved. I'm really looking forward with interacting and chatting with you guys. See you soon, a smart guy
