  1. If you don't know what Miasma Theory is, there is a Wikipedia article, but I can't add links yet, sorry. Miasma theory is the theory that was believed to be correct by most of the scientific community until germ theory was proposed. It theorizes that diseases were caused by miasma, which was basically "bad air", or "night air". What does this sound similar to? Mist comes out at night, and it causes sickness to scadrians. I think Brandon might've been inspired by Miasma theory when creating the concept of the mists and mist sickness. Kind of farfetched, but hey, maybe its true. Does anybody know if this idea has been discussed before, or if Brandon has ever talked about Miasma theory?
  2. Hi all, So I have a question I'm curious to know different perspectives on. How do you Brainstorm? I'm a prose writer so I don't know how different it would be for other mediums, but I imagine every creative person has to brainstorm in some way. If not brainstorming, then where do you garner inspiration. I'm talking about something other than the basics like music and other works. When you're trying to create something new is there any place (website, physical location, ect.) you go to in order to get new ideas. Originality does not exist in a conventional sense right, its mixing and reinventing, but where do you get your foundation?
  3. Hi, everyone! Had no clue this community existed, so this is neat!
  4. Hej ! I know this might be unsual, but I need some help and I know there are some writers/poets somewhere on this forum! I am terrible at rhymes or puns or anything like that. I bought a Christmas present for a friend and I have to write a rhyme dedication. Does anyone have an idea of something witty or funny to say ? It could be it English, Swedish or Islandic If it helps with anything, the present is a book called Persepolis. Please help !
  5. I work in the social media space but I'm actively pursuing fantasy writing in film (hard pursuit much?). One thing that I love as a writer is seeking visual inspirations that make me ponder. Only, most hubs like artstation, Pinterest, and DeviantArt are a mix of amateur and pro work. To remedy this, I've launched an Instagram here: http://instagram.com/worldbuildinginspiration There are other Instagrams like this but I'm stylizing mine much differently. // Each week will have a subtly different theme. Right now it's "Mysterious" but will have "Desert", "Magical", "Cold", "Dark", "Sci-Fi", etc. // I post 3 pics a day, every 2 days switching focus. Mon & Tues are characters, Wed & Thur are environments, Fri & Sat are scenes and concepts. I'd love to know your thoughts and what best would help YOU be inspired via my efforts. I'd love a follow. Let's have a conversation.
