  1. So, I just finished Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell, which I shall henceforth refer to as Silence, for short. Aside from being an excellent novella, and a thrilling story, I noticed some stuff. For example: Why silver? Silver has never done anything on any other planets. In fact, it's been quite useless on Scadrial. Another thing I noticed: People on Threnody have very basic names, sometimes names that seem incongruous and yet familiar to those of us here on Earth. What if, dear readers (and this is a very big if), what they call "silver" on Threnody would be referred to as "aluminum" or possibly "ralkalest" on other worlds? Also, Threnody seems to be the major contender for the ever-elusive Survival Shard's hiding place, and you can possibly see its effects on the peoples of that world.
  2. So, in the upvote-friendly Random Stuff V thread, which is closed, something else came up in the first couple of pages. I cannot give you a link, cause it was in Allomancy's thread. Unfortunately. In a discussion, Kobold King gave a delightful description of Voidus. You can find it in Voidus's sig. So Sharders! Here is your job! Make a colorful, fun, elegant description of the person above you. Think of who they are, what they do, and what they are known for. Let's go!!
  3. From this WoB we learn that Shardblades differ from Honorblades in that Shardblades disappear while Honorblades don't. My thinking is that this happens because the power in the Honorblades isn't dead. The spren that were the main power of the Shardblades are dead, so when they are dropped they vanish. The power behind the Honorblades however, are still alive. The divestiture powering the special blades hasn't been broken or diminished yet. Honorblades, by this logic, could become very much like Shardblades eventually, given the right circumstances cutting off their powers.Thoughts?
  4. On a whim I decided to do a quick Google News search for "Mistborn." - I found a couple reviews and this little gem on a French news site. http://www.elbakin.net/fantasy/news/22011-Brandon-Sanderson-reparle-du-film-Fils-des-Brumes "During a series of questions / answers, the American author has returned to the film adaptation of Mistborn, or Son-of-Mists French. Sanderson reveals that one of his conditions for this film is a cast opening to the public, so anyone can apply for a role. He also explained that it is the "film" section of the company Little Orbit, who produced the Mistborn video game: Birtright, which currently holds the rights to adapt. They keep the game if they finish within 18 months, otherwise these rights will be relisted. Of course, we are still far from even just an estimate release date for this film ..." I ran it through Google Translate, so it's not perfect. Apparently Mistborn: Birthright is coming within about 17 months, or it's not coming at all. I like that casting is open to the public, but I'd prefer having more talented actors performing the principal roles rather than someone off the streets. Any other thoughts from anyone? Was this knowledge previously known and I just missed it?
  5. Until now, we've only had rumors and speculations to go on, but my latest source have just confirmed the inevitable truth: Brightlord Adolin Kholin and Brightness Danlan Morakotha are no longer in an item! And they did not part on good terms! That's right! It seems that our happy couple is no more! The exact reason for this break-up is vague, but Brightlord Adolin himself helpfully informed us that "this one was not his fault" and "things she'd said to her friends...", but refused to elaborate further. On Brightness Danlan's end, all I got was stoney silence and fierce glares. However, by this exchange alone, we can kind of form an idea of what happened. So, someone blabbered too much in the relationship, eh? Well, these things happen. As a highprince's heir, Brightlord Adolin is indeed privy to some important family secrets, but since Brightness Danlan still serve in the Kholin household as one of their primary scribes, it's unlikely that it was anything official. But if it's not official, then does that mean it's... personal? Now what juicy stuff have she told others that Adolin wanted so desperately to keep a secret? It must be huge! Enough to end a whole meaningful relationship over! What is it? Is it embarrassing? I must know! It must have been awkward! ...But probably not as awkward as being face-to-face on a daily basis with your ex. By and by, great job there, pretty boy! To find out, I've talked to some of her friends, but they all shut me down with the usual "read and find out" so they were no help at all. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that we'll know more until March. This is a sad hour indeed. As we all know, Brightlord Adolin is not exactly the most loyal lover, but when Brightness Danlan first came into the scene, we all thought thought, "here is a clever and firm woman who can finally tame our favorite womanizer", but apparently, even she has folded like so many others before her. Alas, Brightness Danlan, we had such high hopes for you. Perhaps you'll make a comeback one day, but the odds are not in your favor... Sayonara seƱorita, we'll miss you! But don't celebrate yet, ladies. It seems our most eligible bachelor just can't stay still for long. There are already rumors abound that he has since engaged himself to another woman, a foreign lady of high birth. Out of the furnace and into the fire, huh? Tune in next time when we speculate about this other woman, what role she played in this break-up, and how much we hate her guts! Also, I'll show you how to turn all those excess cat hair into a home-knit sweater!
