Mistbreaker posted a topic in MistbornI couldn't find a poll for this topic and I love the Graphic Audio adaptations that have been done for the Mistborn stories so I thought it might be a good topic to put out there. Regarding my personal favorite, while not my favorite Mistborn novel as a whole, my favorite adaptation from Graphic Audio is Shadows of Self. The voice acting for everyone was top notch, hearing Sazed soothing voice again was a joy to listen to, the music was so fitting for the pacing and Wayne's collection of accents was beyond entertaining. Even the disturbing parts were phenomenally done, like the part with the chauffeur that encounter the Bleeder and thinking it was a Mistwraith of old, he started shouting in despair that he lost his soul. And the voice acting for that final scene man! I wanted to hug Wax so hard. So yeah, Shadowws of Self is my favorite one, though Final Empire and Hero of Ages come close, in that order. How about everyone else?
Yesterday, the first part of the Oathbringer Graphic Audio came out. Its regular price for a digital version is $16.99, and you can also get it on CD as well. Graphic Audio has done many of Brandon's books and are highly regarded. It isn't just a usual audiobook. It has a full cast of readers acting out the dialogue, with music as well. You can listen to a sample to see if it's your sort of thing on the Graphic Audio page. There are six parts to the Oathbringer Graphic Audio, and the next two come out May 23rd and June 20th, so we have about a month between them for these. If you have these, let us know what you think of the graphic audios below!
WeiryWriter posted a article in Brandon and Book NewsIn case you missed it last week we reported that io9 had posted an extended preview of the White Sand graphic novel. Since then Dynamite Entertainment has released a press release with the cover art for the first volume. I for one really love the cover, as someone who has read the prose version it is nice to finally see what certain characters look like. The release is still a few months away but it is safe to say that I am already hyped for it! In other news the first of a five volume Graphic Audio adaptation of The Way of Kings was released this week. For those who aren't familiar, Graphic Audio is a full-cast (meaning each character is voiced by a different person) reading of the book with sound effects and music. Sort of like a cross between an audiobook and a radio play. Brandon has a short preview of it in a post over on his site. These versions might not be everyone's cup of tea but I know that fans of them are very excited as it was unclear whether The Way of Kings would be adapted in this way. Lastly April 30th is Independent Bookstore Day, which seeks to celebrate the place indie bookstores serve in communities. This year a special Sanderson related item is being given away for free as a promotion at participating stores, a "pocket companion" to the Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. Here is the description from the Tattered Cover website: Here is an image of it from the Tor books tumblr: This is the first we've heard of this item so we still do not know much about it but we will be posting more about this as more information comes to light. To find a participating store there is a searchable map here.
Graphic Audio seems... if not unpopular, then at least not very popular in these forums, but I've loved their adaptations for years, and now they've officially announced that they will be doing The Way of Kings (something that was only hinted at in the past, I think). The fun - and not very surprising - part is that while most of their novel audiobook adaptations have to be split into two or three parts, The Way of Kings is being split into five! One of the great things about the GA products are the covers, which have only gotten better since they first picked up Brandon's books. So I want to keep this thread (or maybe create a master thread somewhere) up to date with links to all the different parts and (if I can find them) higher resolution versions of the covers. So here is the list of links. There is no artwork currently available, but it should start showing up soon. The Way of Kings (1 of 5): Available on March 21, 2016. I suspect the cover for this one might be this, since the same artist did the GA covers for all 3 parts The Hero of Ages and The Alloy of Law. The Way of Kings (2 of 5): Available on May 1, 2016 The Way of Kings (3 of 5): ??? The Way of Kings (4 of 5): ??? The Way of Kings (5 of 5): ???
