  1. MR67: Aftermath: A Successful Lurch Once Kasim returned, the remaining SErs gathered together, circling up like they had at the beginning of this convention. Before this madness had begun. Though Mat supposed that it had begun the moment he'd helped suggest and set up this SE meetup. In a lot of ways, he blamed himself for what had happened to everyone. But he knew that was the wrong way of looking at things. He never could have known, never could have done anything more to stop it. He joined the circle, though everyone knew he was innocent. That last death note had most definitely come from one of the four standing around him. He looked them over, one by one. Kasim was certainly good; he had given so much to rid the convention of the killers. And the grief on his face was as genuine as Mat had ever seen. Not to mention him being the literal Brandon Sanderson. TKN refused to meet his-- or anyone's-- eyes, but Mat didn't think that meant anything. He was as unreadable in real life as he was on the forums. Illwei, on the other hand, studied everyone else one by one, analyzing for an unknowable purpose. She had arrived late to the convention, but not late enough to prove innocence. And then there was neil, who Mat knew nothing about. Did anyone know anything about neil? Mat felt the tension in the room shift, focusing on the newcomer. He wasn't the only one who had come to that realization. They'd accepted neil's words when he had said that he was a friend of Stick's, and he clearly knew Illwei from previous encounters. But he'd seemed genuinely terrified when he'd seen her walk in the room. In a flash, neil's arm snapped forward, suddenly clutching a knife he must had produced from within his trench coat. But the knife's progress was stopped as Kasim grabbed neil's hand and slapped it away in a perfectly executed disarming. "No," he growled. "No one else dies. Not at my convention." neil gulped. But said nothing. "That's what I thought," Kasim said. "You're coming with me." --- Once neil had been detained, Kasim stood by Mat, TKN, and Illwei on the streets of Salt Lake City, staring at the convention center that had housed nightmares for the past weekend. At a huge cost, it was now over. "I want to thank you," Kasim said, "for defending the con these past days." "You did a lot, too," Illwei pointed out. "I honestly still wasn't sure of neil at the end there." Kasim shook his head. "It was a team effort. Because of you, my work can continue. Those murderers had it out for me. I couldn't have borne the knowledge that my stories would go untold, but now I don't have to." It was only then that Mat fully registered that Brandon Sanderson was standing next to him. His favorite author, the reason he was here at all, the reason he knew any of these SErs, right there. He almost asked for an autograph. But it didn't feel right. "Will there be a Dragonsteel 2025?" Mat asked instead. He couldn't imagine the lawsuits the Dragonsteel company would be facing. But Kasim-- Brandon-- only smiled, and shrugged. "If we can manage it. I still have stories to tell, after all, and there are those who want to hear them. But if not, the books will still be there." He paused, scratching his chin. "But there is one thing." "What's that?" TKN asked. "We're going to need much better security." * * * neil the beguiled was removed from the convention! He was a Crazed SEr! Kasimir was attacked, but survived! Vote Count: Illwei/Ooklil (1): neil the beguiled neil the beguiled (2): Kasimir, The Known Novel/Bald The Known Novel/Bald (1): Illwei/Ooklil The game is over! Congratulations to the Reasonable SErs for defending Dragonsteel 2024 and ridding the Salt Palace of its various insane people! Though there is some writing scrawled in the parking garage that needs to be pressure-washed off... The Convention Game has a two-way tie for its winners! @Archer, with two points, who completed his task before his opponent as well as guessed their identity, and @JNV, with two points, who successfully guessed their opponent as well as figuring out that Ash and Aeoryi were paired against each other! Second place is awarded to the 7 players with one point, and the bronze medal can be split between those with none Thank you to everyone who participated in this game! And special extra thanks to @Elandera for answering my questions, keeping the peace, and being the IM this game needed. I'll post GM thoughts later, probably tomorrow but potentially tonight. I have some things about the distro I want to shout out, and general thoughts about the balance and mechanics. It wasn't too complicated so there isn't a lot to say, but if anyone has thoughts about it now's the time to say them Doc Links: Master Sheet Dead/Spec Doc Elim Doc SK Doc Convention Game Full Rules Player List:
  2. The Members of the Set had figured out who the traitors were. Of course, they didn't know that. And so it was on the last day that the final Infiltrator fought for their life harder than ever before. They even managed to convince one of the loyal members that they weren't the traitor. He decided that he had to kill the one with the most influence over the group. They had so much power over who was voted out each day. Sadly, the lurcher was thinking along these same lines. So when night fell, and the Infiltrator snuck up to his victim, knife in hand, she pulled. The traitor was caught and his plan had been spoiled. ... "Well, well, well," a voice from the balcony above called out. "You actually passed the test. It seems that you really can tell if someone is unloyal. After a little bit of trial and error, that is. And you even managed to get the Regretful Agent as well. I really am impressed." Muttering in the crowd. A voice finally speaks up, "Are…are you saying you knew who the traitors were this whole time?" "Why, of course I did." Another voice in the crowd asks accusingly, "Then why wouldn't you just take care of them instead of having us kill each other?!" "I had to test your worth, of course. If you aren't able to sniff out the poison in your drink, how are you ever going to live?" Araris was killed! They were an Infiltrator! They were also a Tineye! The game has ended, and the Members of the Set have won the game! Congratulations! I'm on mobile rn, so the lists are really hard to do. You can check the sheet for player's roles/alignments. 3. I am a bit disappointed in you. When I gave you my blessing to interfere in the affairs of the Seventeenth Shard, I did not expect you to stage a bloody Coup. Regardless, I hope you now have the manpower needed to stop Rayse. I have alerted the Shardholders, and I know at least 8 of them will be present to contain him, but that may just give him what he wants. You will have to be very careful in your pursuit of Vengeance this time. Trust no one. not even those who trust you. Rayse knows how to disguise himself, as do the rest of the shards. And remember, there's always another Secret. Investiture All of the roles are shards with two abilities. The Ability to invest in a normal worldhopper, and a Shardic Ability. The Shard must use their Invest Ability the same cycle they use their Shardic ability. Some Shards also have a passive ability. The Investiture Power is a role given to a Worldhopper. The shard targets a player, and that player has the power for one cycle. If a shard attempts to Invest in another Shard, they are told Exactly: “Your Target cannot receive Investiture.” Multiple Shards may Invest in the Same Worldhopper. That Player may choose to use one ability per Turn. A Shard may send a Message along with their Investment. This message will be anonymous. The Worldhopper cannot reply. If a Shard fails to invest two cycles in a row,or fails to post 3 turns in a row, the Shard will become a Fallen Shard, and Endowment gets to choose a new Shardholder. This shard is not shattered, and can still invest. Roles: PM's: There are two ways to use PM's. One is to be in one with Cultivation, or a follower of Cultivation. The other is to be on the same world as a player. In addition to any other night action a player may have, they may choose to go to a certain world. (The amount of Worlds is equal to 1/4 of the Original number of players, rounding up.) All players on that world will be put in a PM group for the duration of that cycle. Order of Actions: Day: Devotion's Worldhopper is announced Endowment makes a new Shard. Normal Votes Day Investments (Odium/Honour/Endowment/Ruin) Dominion Targets Ruin’s Kill Both Devotion abilities Dominions Vote Change Ruin’s Vote Cancel Lynch Night: Endowment makes a new Shard Night Investments (Dominion, Cultivation, Preservation, Devotion) Dominion targets. Lashings Ruin's kill Devotion targets Ruin's action cancel Odium/Champion kill Writeup: Shards attacked by Odium’s champions who survive will be indistinguishable from Players who survive due to Honour’s Lashings or from players invested with Preservation or are Preservation. The identity of the survivor is revealed. Only Devotion’s saves are singled out. Ruins kill will be different than Odium’s kill Victory Conditions: Odium and his Champions win if they Outnumber the Worldhoppers and Shards. The Worldhoppers and Shards win when they shatter Odium and slay his Champions. All writeups will be posted at 10:00pm PST. If you're having trouble with Timezones, I recommend looking at this Xkcd Comic. It shows the times around the world right now. The Day turn will be 48 hours long (2 days) The Night turn will be 24 hours long (1 Day). Wilson is the Neutral Moderator for this game. EDIT: For those of you who will ask for Clarifications, Go here. It's the Rules, but in much more detail. Cycles: Day 1 Night 1 Day 2 Night 2 Day 3 Night 3 Player List: As of Day 3 Quick Links:
