  1. gonna copy @Doomslug The Destroyer here so let's see. this is an original thing. I'm going to post more but for now you get this one thing. Scene 1 bank fight.
  2. Aight, idk if any of you are going to be interested in this, but I'm writing a book tentatively titled Magic Is Undeniably, Illogically and Unfortunately Real, though that title is likely to be changed since the tone has been drastically changed from when I began it. Currently, I'm working on writing the prelude/prologue to the story and rewriting the third chapter because it went through limbo once when I had to turn the whole 18 pages that I had into past tense for sanity purposes. I think this beginning to the third chapter, introducing the second pov character, works well, though I'm going to have to practice making the Narration for the two characters different. I'm going to be posting on here every once and a while, talking about how it's going! I'll also be asking for some advice on names for places, characters and artifacts, so y'all are in for a wild ride. I hope y'all like this... I would also like to mention that this book is the first book that I am working on by myself and am actually trying to finish. Technically, I've been a part of a project that's finished a book, but it wasn't my book. It was a co-writing effort... it still is ongoing in a rewrite, though I may quit on it, though I'm not sure how to do it since I'm doing it with a friend and have been working on it for like four years. Well, kinda working on it, he's been doing most of the heavy lifting while I've been figuring out my life and how to actually prioritize things. Anyways- Hope y'all will enjoy this as I post sporadically! Edit: here's the first two chapters. They're not too good, but they set up some things. I'll put the third chapter here two. The first two chapters are not my best work by far. They'll change a lot through the drafts, but since I've given y'all the third chapter, you might as well have the first two as well. Chapter one. Chapter two Chapter three There you go!
  3. The title explains it all. I'll set up a doc to add thoughts to and maybe a discord thing. I have some ideas but it will mostly just be everyone working together. Here's the doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vsrO1BqEGohpaMH5_UNYVQt0gRKAru8_h2X9Op_6r4c/edit?usp=drivesdk Here's the discord server: https://discord.gg/DbgF734RGX
  4. So, Stormreach essentially has every storm ever on Earth happening at the same time. Millions of square miles of rain falling at every moment, thousands of lightning strikes per minute, hail from the smallest speck to car sized, wind strong enough to flatten a city, enough snow to drown a million mammoths, it's crazy. The only reason they can stay alive is their magic, which comes in five types. Lightning magic, can draw lightning to you or to a specific spot. Rain magic, can create a decently large shield to keep rain away or can push rain in a certain direction. Wind magic, can control, slow, and speed up the wind. And hail/snow magic, can control, move, and sculpt hail or snow. There is an incredibly powerful wind controller moving the winds at all times, they also blow away the hail and the majority of the snow. The rain does get through albeit in small amounts. There are basically taxis that use rain shields to transport people from place to place. Hail and snow sculptors on the sides of the street, selling trinkets. And because lightning helps to grow plants in Stormreach, lightning controllers bringing down lightning strikes in the middle of gardens. The plot is this: The two most powerful wind controllers have both died in an unfortunate accident, and most people have taken to their homes in fear of car sized pieces of hail and wind powerful enough to flatten them. Small squads of rain, wind, and hail controllers have banded together to make the only possible transportation in the city. The plot will likely revolve around solving the "accidental" deaths of the wind controllers and/or the selection of new ones.
  5. So, last night I was trying to find a book to read, so I pulled The Rithmatist out of my pile of Sanderson books. I had bought it a month previously, but hadn't read it yet. I opened the front page, got happy and excited over the cool map (I live on the island of Cascadia!), then turned to the title page, and freaked out. Apparently my local bookstore bought a signed hardcover copy that just happened to fall into my eager hands. *cue fangirl jumping up and down, flapping arms, and mild screeching* Does anybody have any fun stories/surprises, like running into Brandon at the grocery story, or winning a free Sanderson book, or something like that?
