first post Salut à tous 👋 Hello, everyone
PAS posted a topic in Introduce Yourself!
Hi, my name is Pierre-Alexandre. I taught French language and composition in college, and a few of my students won international prizes. One even won against Orson Scott Card … and myself. So I failed him, of course. I gave my one-year notice when I finally admitted to myself that my workload (90 hours per week, mostly spent correcting copies) wasn’t ever going to decrease. For seven years after that, I earned a living as a copy editor, in English, mostly for scientific articles (most of them written by native English speakers, yes). I’ve also worked as a translator, on occasion, from French to English and English to French (I translated stories from Scott Card, Janis Ian, Dean Whitlock, etc.). What else? One of my own stories was a finalist for the Mike Resnick Memorial Award and the Jim Baen Memorial Award, and so lost twice. Aaand that’s about it. So many years, so little to say. PA -
"I won't join another fan site" I said... "I'm already on too many" I said... "There's only so many hours in a day and I spend far too many of them on such things as it is" I said... "...But it's the cosmere" I said and joined anyway.

Hello! I'm new here. I am another who believes Sanderson's books are amazing!
-
I've finally taken the plunge and made an account. I've only briefly begun looking up Sanderson related forums, reddits, etc. I started reading his books about 18 months ago and have read everything in the Cosmere multiple times and have just finished Skyward. When searching for new fantasy/sci fi to digest over the past few years, I came across The Way of Kings more than a few times. For a variety of silly reasons, I never gave it a chance. I assume my journey is similar to most: before finishing WoK I ordered WoR. After Words, I read mistborn saga 1 and 2. Elantris and Warbreaker followed. I devoured Oathrbinger at launch. All of the novellas and arcanum were sprinkled in there somewhere. I gave Skyward a chance this past week even though I thought it wouldn't live up to my expectations for a Sanderson novel due to it being YA and because I tend to be more picky about my sci-fi than my fantasy. My advice to anyone on the fence: embrace the Sandernova! Anyway, I'm excited to jump in some Skyward and Stormlight speculative chat!

Hello everyone, I'm Andrew aka CuriousWolf, I've been popping in and lurking as a visitor now and then for a while now but have only now gotten around to creating an account. I'm one of those who discovered my love for Brandon's writing through Wheel of Time, after which he's become my favorite author and I've gone on to read everything of his that I can get my hands on (still haven't requested the unpublished works, and haven't read any Alcatraz). I imagine that's probably a pretty common story around here. The cosmere concept excites me like no other aspect of fiction has since... I don't know, probably Lost. And they squandered it (Abrams, Lindelhof, Cuse, all I can say is ಠ_ಠ). But Brandon has already proven that he has so much more planning in place that I'm not worried. The details we've gotten so far are delicious and I get giddy when I make a connection while reading--be it an intended one or wild supposition. I may contribute to some theories eventually but for now I'll probably just continue to soak it all in. I met Brandon once here in Austin, TX. I was too starstruck to make a good impression I'm sure, plus being one of the last people there at the end of the day, but he was still totally good-natured about everything. His interactions with his fans are part of why I am one, even beyond his impressive quality and quantity of work. A little about me, in case anyone cares: I'm 33, I do software QA, and in addition to fantasy literature I love video games and board games and am an animal lover (household has a bassett-terrier mix, a black cat, and two sugar gliders, plus whatever less welcome critters make their way in out of the Texas heat). See you on the forums!

With the Stormlight Archive, Brandon has created a world unlike anything I have read before. I can't wait until #3 is published.

TLDR; Hi, I'm new, How do i make spoiler sections? and what counts as spoilers? Hello, I guess I should post here. It's my first post on 17th Shard, but I've browsed and observed for quite a while before finally making an account. I've loved reading Sanderson's books ever since I picked on The Way of Kings in a Denver airport after finishing my other three books I'd brought to read on a family trip. I'm a huge fan of his worldbuilding in particular, though I also am constantly intrigued what twists he will pull on fantasy archetypes next. The reason I finally decided to make an account was because recently, in about my 7th rereading of the Way of Kings, I got really interested in Hoid (Wit) and Dalinar's conversation in Part 4: Storm's Illumination: Gibletish. I noticed something and wanted to share, and from what I've seen on the related forums, this tidbit has not been thrown around yet. However, I'm not sure how to make spoiler sections, nor what is considered spoilers. So, please let me know what that is so I don't offend anyone, but I'm eager to join the fun of the site, all the jokes, and especially the incredible (and incredibly loony) theories. If you have read this far, thank you so much, Sincerely, Yet another huge Sanderson fan.

Hello, guys! I just made my account today, been meaning to do it for months. Anyway, I read the article that TOR put up where Branmdon Sanderson annouced the Words of Radiance title (who here didn't read it lol) and I learned a lot of other cool stuff, like Szeth having his own book and so on. So the first book belonged to Kaladin, the second will be Shallan's, the third will be Szeth and the fifth will be Dalinar's. So who do you guys want the fourth to belong to? I personally would love to see a book for Navani. I love her, she's awesome and I have a soft spot for tech inventors. But i believe it could also belong to Adolin. Ibelieve these two are the most likely (I would like it to be Navani's). But i think a book for Tarvangian would be pretty cool too. And he's old, so theose flashbacks could go pretty deep and far back. Sio, again, my question is: who would you like the fourth book to brlong to?

This post is intended for next week. I accidentally sent out my work prematurely, however feel free to post your comments. They are much appreciated. To clarify, Song of the Wild Sea is the name of the whole series while Tameless is the title of the first book in the series.
