I was wondering if anyone can share a listing of chapter times for the Dark Talent audiobook? How long each chapter is, that sort of thing? Many thanks!

Re-reading Alcatraz, on book 3, noticed this: "I blushed. It now seemed silly. 'I figured... well I thought if I could break Gravity, then I could fly.' Grandpa Smedry chuckled quietly. 'Break Gravity, eh? Very bold of you... a very Smedry-like attempt, but a bit beyond even the scope of your power, I'd say. Imagine the Chaos if Gravity stopped working all over the world!' I don't have to imagine it. I've lived it. But we'll get to that. Eventually." Welp. Spoilers (Books 5 and 6) And in book 2, we learn that the worldspire reaches all the way down to the center of the earth, which is made of glass. Hypothetically, what would happen if someone or something were to break the core of the Earth? how would that affect gravity? EDIT: Also from book 2: they regard me as their savior, but I only fixed what I broke in the first place. (loosely paraphrased)

All throughout the Alcatraz series we are told not to flip to the last page. The Letter is the reason why. (I just realized this. Brandon must have planned The Letter ever since the first novel. That tricksy librarian scum. )

So who noticed that the note at the end was signed "Bastille Smedry?" There've been hints before but it sounds like Bastille and Alcatraz get hitched. Assuming Alcatraz gets his Talent back at some point, can you imagine Bastille with the Breaking Talent? The mind shudders! (Incidentally, while I'm glad that they end up together, it prods at one of my pet peeves in writing. Like, the first person that the main character meets that's not related to his background ends up being his or her romantic interest. It happens a lot in movies/books and I'd like to see the main character get a bit more exposure to the world and its people first, you know?)

Has anyone heard whether Ramon De Ocampo will be reprising his role as Alcatraz in the Dark Talent on audiobook/Audible? My kids are huge fans of the audio series, and would be extremely disappointed if their long wait was for naught!

Hey there Sanderfans, those of us who are also fans of board games certainly have a lot to look forward to! Not only do we have Mistborn: House War (and Mistborn: The Siege of Luthadel) on the horizon but board game company Nauvoo Games just recently announced they will be creating and releasing a board game based on The Reckoners series. Here is their press release: I for one look forward to learning more. If anyone is going to be at GenCon this weekend go say hello! For Alcatraz fans the Tor/Forge blog has posted the first chapter of The Dark Talent (which is only a little over a month away from release)! Check it out here. Now those of you who subscribe to Brandon's newsletter will likely remember he shared this back in January 2015. So it is not new to everybody, but it is still a great chapter and I really can't wait to read the rest of the book. Back in March we reported that Tor Books was releasing special limited edition Stormlight Companion for Independent Bookstore Day. Well the Tor/Forge blog just recently announced that anyone that subscribes to their newsletter will receive a free digital copy of the Companion (people who are already subscribed need to sign up again though). There really isn't anything that fans like us don't already know, but it is a handy little reference book. Finally Stormlight 3 is over 2/3rds drafted! Woohoo!

It began with a single sentence: "So, there I was, tied to an altar made from outdated encyclopedias, about to get sacrificed to the dark powers by a cult of evil Librarians." With that Alcatraz Smedry walked into our lives but although it has been a long, and rather bumpy, road we still have yet to see the infamous altar. The end is drawing near however, Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians Book 5: The Dark Talent will be releasing on June 7, 2016. Tor.com has just revealed the fantastic cover art that Scott Brundage created for the book. I really can't get ov-- Oh, oh my... Is that an altar I spy in the background? Perhaps made from outdated encyclopedias? It certainly looks like one in my opinion. Anyway, as I was saying, I really can't get over how well the cover fits with the series. After seeing some unused covers and concept art Scott posted back in March, I was hopeful but this has really just blasted past my expectations. I really can't wait to see the new covers for Books 1-4 when they get posted! They also posted the synopsis of the book. Which, while it doesn't reveal anything beyond what is established at the end of Book 4, is definitely hype-inducing: Surely he can... Right? If you can't wait until June 7th to get your hands on a new Brandon book don't forget Shadows of Self comes out October 6th, check out our spoiler free review of it here. Check out our forum topic here to discuss the cover and synopsis! Update: It turns out that the name of the book has been changed from "Alcatraz Versus the Dark Talent" to "Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians: The Dark Talent", which I completely missed in writing this article originally. Peter has confirmed that the old naming scheme has been dropped for each book.

Shadows of Self is now only a week away! (Or well for most of us). Brandon in a recent blog post has mentioned that in the UK while Shadows is being released in ebook and audiobook form on Oct 8, two days after the US release, the official UK print release will not be until the 15th. On a happier note Tor.com has just posted the next preview chapter, and Harmony is it a doozy. Check it out here! Last Friday we reported that Tor.com posted the cover for Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians Book 5: The Dark Talent. Well earlier today the cover artist, Scott Brundage, posted the full wrap-around version of the art (without any obscuring text) on his twitter. It's pretty cool. Check out our forum topics here to discuss the chapter preview and here to discuss the cover!
