My Mistborn character, Cxxn (pronounced Sickson) has a Mistwraith. It's important because a lot of his childhood memories are of his dog, Rafael, and he can only really access them through his dog. However, his dog died in the mists 5 years ago and that's when he snapped. (He burns copper, but thats not super important right now). Much like how amnesia works, he has trauma, sort of like PTSD, and only remembers his childhood when he is reminded of his dog. (This is exaggerated, he doesn't really have a magical connection to it, more like a sentiment) the thing is, he sees his dog again. Thinking it's a kandra, he pulls out his knife, ready to defend himself. But the puppy's skin retracts, and he sees that it is a Mistwraith. However it is no normal mistwraith. It is sentient, but not fully sentient. Hemalurgic spikes decay and lose some of their power when out of a body, keep that in mind the mistwraith, which took over the body of the dog shortly after it died (Five years ago), had just recently picked up a mysterious blessing spike.(Yes, just laying around in the mists.) But no normal blessing spike. It was laying around, and was decaying. However, the Mistwraith was brought into self awareness, and was able to find it's first corpse, Rafael, the dog. He took form of it, and stuck with that set of bones. He follows my character, Cxxn, around. And yes, his name is Wraithael (lol) He is basically a half kandra, half mistwraith. Tell me Brandon, does this work?

Warning, Elantris spoilers I was thinking about tying Elantris into the cosmere a remembered how in the last few chapters of the book they talk about multiple ways to access to door like there are multiple ways to use stormlight. They also mention see a faint glow from non elantrians who where fighting the monks of dakhor. Any ideas of how Sanderson might inccorperate this into Elentris 2?

I always loved much of the playful relationship between Vin and Elend and nothing topped it more for me than when they finally got to dance and Elend of course immediately pulls out a book. I can only imagine how exasperated and yet amused Vin must have felt. I also loved the idea of her simple, but elegant black dress and him in his white uniform. Such a contrasting look, though there weren’t a ton of descriptive details to work with, so I took some liberties. Anyways, I wanted to do a piece involving that scene and so this was the result. Hope you all enjoy!

So I've read all the books countless times and would really love to read Aether of Night. But Brandon's website now directs you here to find it distributed. Can anyone help a brother out? @Invocation, @Chaos, @Argent????

I took a venture into stylized characters a little while back (I've come back to more representational stuff recently so as to better learn the rules, and then go BACK to stylizing with a bit more confidence) and decided to do the 25 essential expressions meme with my version of Dalinar Kaolin. It was a lot of fun =) let me know what you think! grantmhansen.com

I wrapped up a Dalinar portrait study recently with the intent of updating this: It's been sitting on my digital easel for a while as I basically procrastinated getting into finishing up the uniform and such, but I eventually decided to just let it be a face study and move on with life. So without further ado, here's my interpretation of Dalinar Kholin, one of my absolute favorite literary characters EVER. I feel good about this one, in that I feel like I'm learning and making progress with each portrait. It's fun/painful to look back and see where I came from, but hopefully I can keep up the growing and someday maybe Brandon will hire me to paint a piece or too (wink wink, Brandon Sanderson. Wink. Wink.) Lastly, I wanted to throw in a little preview of the next piece of fanart that I'm starting into. It's just a rough sketch right now (and I mean seriously ROUGH), but it's starting to take the shape I want, and I figure that if I throw 'er in here, I'll be held a bit more accountable to actually get the thing done in a timely manner. It's a scene that I'm kinda hoping to make into part of a series, and it'll be called Kaladin, Healer - 1. To be followed by future Healer scenes, and then things like: Kaladin, Warrior or Radiant or Betrayed, or whatever. If y'all have good ideas for scenes or themes to mix into the series, I'd love to hear them! Here's the rough: p.s. When I previewed this post, the little rough drawing is SUPER tiny. Anyone know how to up the size of the thing? I couldn't figure it out...

Hello 17th Shard World, This is my first entry in the forum. I've been putting some art up in the gallery and someone recommended that I post them here too so that they'd reach a few more souls. The cell-shaded, cartoony looking ones are all several months to about a year old, so there's lots that I look at and want to change in them.. I'll do a few more reboots soon. Hope you all like 'em! Let me know what you think. You can see them, and some more stuff on my website if you ever have a mind: grantmhansen.com

Realized that today is the 10 year anniversary of when Elantris was first published, which launched Brandon to where he is today, with many wonderful stories, a great community, and many hours sunk into reading and re-reading his books to discover the many secrets, because as we know, "There's always another secret." This is a thread to congratulate Brandon on 10 years of fantastic writing, and wish him many, many more. Also, feel free to say how his books have inspired you, how they changed your life. Allow me to be the first. I cannot see how my life would be without Brandon's books, they inspired me to become a writer, and that's what I've spent the last 6 years of my life going towards, and I know that if I can write books the tiniest bit of an iota as good as one of Brandon's I can be a success. I have a purpose for my life, and I owe it all to Brandon Sanderson. Now my speech is constantly littered with references to books that other people don't get, which is part of me. I am so grateful to Brandon for his long years of writing, leading, and inspiring with his books. I wish you the best Brandon, and many many more years of writing in front of you. Happy anniversary.

Hello all, last night a few friends and I had the good fortune to go to our first book signing with Brandon Sanderson in Houston. Between the three of us we managed to ask 9 questions about Stormlight (though we didn't get as many answers), and I asked one about the end of AMoL that was inconsequential to the story except for the character it involves, so be forewarned. Brandons responses will be paraphrased for the most part. Edited and added the fifth question my friend asked. That explains how Lopen's arm could heal from Stormlight but Kaladin's slave scars haven't ever healed.
