So now that Taravangian has Ascended, what happens to his boon/curse? If he is free of it, will his release from the boon/curse be his downfall? We know that he lost to Odium merely to save Kharbranth, specifically his own family and grandchildren (whom he also spared of any details concerning his political plotting). Cultivation made it so that his intelligence and empathy would be inversely related on any given day, so if he acts with intellect and empathy/passion, will he break down at the end of Book 5 because of needing to save his grandchildren in one scene? We know at the end of RoW, he's drinking in all this power and blinding everything else out, including Cultivation's offer to guide and teach him. So maybe in Book 5, we see that overwhelming amount of knowledge clear up as he accesses his deep emotion for his own family. Selfish, but it might just save Roshar—and "save them all"—from Odium. Thoughts?

Could the prologue chapter in stormlight archive book 5 be that of gavilar and tell us all the secret, like how he got the antivoid light.

Kaladin has a lot of little indications around him that he isn’t quite a normal windrunner but these have yet to be explained. If anyone for example 1. deflecting the high storm- though this could be an instinctive use of adhesion 2. The way the wind seems to grant him supernatural fighting prowess which is in my mind described almost like atium. The wind blowing around him could be adhesion but I don’t see why that would grant him enhanced senses, speed and coordination especially to the level that it does, on top of the fact that no other windrunner shows this happening nobody else has this kind of wind imagery. 3. Child of tanavast- we know that kaladin being the only person called child of tanavast is significant but we don’t know why yet, it’s possible this imparts him with these other abilities. 4. the way kaladin kills the pursuer is a very very odd instance, it’s possible it’s the standard wind thing but that doesn’t normally do what happened here. Kaladin becomes enraged and gains super speed, a power which as far as we have seen only one other power set in the cosmere grants. (Feruchamy) that’s not even to mention the yellowish red tint to his eyes venli sees which indicates potentially some level of corruption from odium. if anyone would be able to see understand and explain what is up with all of this it is ishar, the most practiced bondsmith ever, capable seeing connections could surely be able to determine this and in fact this may be what helps convince ishar to help Dalinar, he sincere believes he is an aspect of the almighty but maybe something about kaladin and the fact that the son of tanavast thing may indicate he actually is one. so what could happen when they meet? one theory I do have that’s a bit crackpot is that this has soemthing to do with cultivation, cultivation being a god of change and nature seems to me like it very well could have some level of manipulation over stuff like the winds and maybe she granted this power, this could also explained the slightly corrupted eyes since red investiture is corrupted seemingly regardless of what other type is corrupting it.

Everyone seems to be betting that shallan may become a world hopper but what about kaladin? He was specifically told about other world any zahel and more interestingly had cognitive shadows explained to him. Or perhaps a better question why was kaladin made cosmere aware? Like what is the plot reason what role does it serve? A few reasons I can think of that this needed to happen. 1. so kaladin can understand how cognitive shadows work which was sorta relevant for fighting the pursuer. Then so he can later help ishar with his mental health. this is possible but idk seems kinda like there wouldn’t have also been a need to tell him about other worlds and have him fight a Dude from a different magic system. 2. He goes world hopping for some reason. But why would he do that? I think it would have to do with dalinars fate. so what will happen to dalinar at the end of the book we have a few options rn that seem clear. A. Dalinar is just fine on roshar as a mortal in this situation kaladin does not need to world hop B. dalinar ascends to honor i think dalinar may want to send someone out into the cosmere to maybe counte odium or explore or deal with other threats. Kaladin would be the ideal choice narratively. Presumably by the end of the 5th book kaladin will be 5th ideal quite possibly at the end of his character arc and I think not dead. On top of this kaladin is insanely op his combat feats are so insane that it’s almost counter productive to tension for him to be around, now he could take dalinars place in a leadership role or he could die or he could become a therapist but none of those work, since rn nothing prevents dalinar from leading since he doesn’t seem likely to straight up die, I don’t think he will die and even if he isn’t a soldier anymore he loves the fight far too much to just become a therapist full time. But generally because of kaladins high power level and drive to protect and the fact he likely won’t sit on the sidelines in most likely situations I think he woudl leave in this scenario as dalinars representative/ envoy. C. dalinar becomes a fused In this situation I think dalinar forces kaladin to swear to stop him when he becomes a fused and basically kaladin goes around the cosmere following dalinar being kinda like hoid and making sure dalinar is defeated every time odium tries to use him to screw stuff up. I know a lot of people have been wanting kaladin to maybe become a professional counselor but I think as a lot of people point out to him in the book he can’t give up the fight he loves it too much he just can’t take the stress of war and the battlefield anymore. he has also been talked to by hoid more than any other character we have seen (excluding jasnah but i mean as in like compelled to show up there to help out) which I think Indicates his importance. Honestly it would be kinda awesome if kaladin and syl go around the cosmere like in these theories and basically act like a second hoid Show up and talk to people about their problems then like drive dalinar off or do what honor needs done then leave. Plus he has the flute so maybe. also kaladin is hands down the most naturally skilled person in the cosmere when it comes to combat

In RoW we saw Kaladin's first arc come to a close. As Kaladin is SA's main protagonist it's pretty hard to believe that he'll be killed off in the next book or completely written off in the back 5. I'm theorizing that Kaladin will be taking the role of Bondsmith in books 6-10, maybe as early as partway through book 5. It's pretty clear that Dalinar is setting himself up for failure in book 5. He'll be competing against a much more competent version of Odium who will be playing on a separate level compared to the old one. He's also going into the contest of champions from a really odd perspective. Dalinar claims that he's the greatest warrior in the Knights Radiant, but throughout RoW he's been trying to step away from the warrior role and take on a supporting role. While he does have a powerset with high versatility, he has a limited knowledge/experience with it. 10 days is not enough time to learn higher Bondsmithing techniques, even if he's sending Szeth and Kal out on a road trip to get Ishar. So I think Dalinar is going to lose his position as Bondsmith by one of: Becoming a Fused Dying The Stormfather dying Ascending Losing the Stormfather's bond Kaladin, on the other hand, has been set down a new path. The end of RoW sees him come to terms with his status as a soldier, forgiving himself for his past failures and accepting that he'll make more in the future. At the same time, he's begun to see himself as a person who can help people with PTSD and similar conditions. Book 5 might have Kaladin start the healing process with Ishar, and maybe Szeth as well. His fame has taken on a life of it's own, giving him legendary status in Urithiru and perhaps other places as well. It's Syl most of all that makes me think things are going to change for Kaladin in a big way in the next installment. For those that don't know, Syl was given her own icon for her interlude chapter. Character icons are important as they illustrate scenes that have happened or will happen. There's a wob somewhere explaining this but I couldn't quite manage to find it. Syl's clearly shows her wearing some kind of pack (Which is a really odd thing for a spren to do), looking behind her. To me, this provides extra credence the the 'Syl becomes fully corporeal in the physical realm' theory. This might cause Kaladin to lose the bond in some form, leaving him open to some other bond, ending with him as the Bondsmith. Here's a few separate ideas on how that might happen: Bonding to the Stormfather after Dalinar loses his bond Syl bonds to the Highstorm after the Stormfather is killed Kaladin finds Taln's blade (He would have gravitation, adhesion, cohesion and tension allowing for bondsmithing stuff) Kaladin takes Ishar's blade Kaladin bonds Bah-Ado-Mishram and unites the two storms (honestly this is a whole other thing) There's a few reasons I think Kaladin makes sense as the next lead Bondsmith. I'll list them here. Kaladin's first steps in dealing with mental health have begun as highlighted in RoW. Since Kal is about to go on a journey to find one such person with mental health problems stemming from battle shock, it might inspire him to continue it. In the gap between books 5 and 6 Kaladin might go on to unite the Heralds once more. Another group that needs uniting are the humans and the singers. Having someone revered by singers as the head of the Knights Radiant could go a long way to uniting the two groups. Or at least opening up talks between them. Kaladin is the only other character besides Dalinar who has received Highstorm visions. This indicates that Kaladin might have been a candidate for the Stormfather had Syl not taken him first (I'm aware that Radiants can bond multiple spren, Brandon just says it's highly unlikely). Feel free to poke holes in this, it's just an idea I've had bouncing around in my head for a few days. To be honest it's mostly because I can imagine a scene at the end of book 5 after the Radiants have pushed back Odium for a time with Kaladin brooding at the top of Urithiru looking out to the horizon and then the last line we just get : Unite them.

But I also think cultivation is the villain and ha sheen manipulating everyone so take that with a grain of salt. now my main theory on what kaladin may be, is a sliver of honor. This explains a lot in my mind at least, why odium had 0 connection to kaladin he could exploit except through moash, it also explains why he would be called son of tanavast and makes more sense then some weird far back descendant. On top of that it would explain why kaladin was able to resist the tower’s suppression. And while I know people are gonna say to the last point that’s it was because of his closeness to the fourth ideal but every time we hear someone say that it’s much less a definitive statement and more of a “um... I guess maybe it could be because... he is close to the fourth ideal?..” it’s never a definitive answer and this very much fits all the other weird inconsistencies.

We know that Taravangian found some loophole that possibly allows him to win with Dalinar somehow, probably based on something that Rayse couldn't have predicted and/or simply would never do. Here I'd like to propose my guess: Taravangian plans to kill the Stormfather. It's actually scarily easy to pull off in just three steps: A. Manipulate Ishar into stealing Dalinar's bond with the SF B. Manipulate Szeth into killing Ishar, killing or wounding the SF in the process C. If necessary, finish the SF off with anti-Stormlight This would probably destroy the Highstorms, creating something like a never ending Weeping (the Night of Sorrows?), described in multiple Death Rattles: Honor's Perpendicularity would probably settle on a permanent location at the Origin, explaining the line from Puuli's interlude (describing Skybreakers maybe?): Without easy access to Stormlight for Team Radiant, Odium should be able to crush them easily, conquer all of Roshar and take Honor's Investiture for himself, which would free him from Braize. A possible Arc 1 ending resolution I see would be something like this: The Everstorm gets taken over by the recently freed Ba-Ado-Mishram, thwarting Odium's plans. Dalinar Ascends to Honor using the unchained powers of Ishar's Honorblade and possibly (Dawnshard spoilers). Kaladin dies, but his Cognitive Shadow replaces the Stormfather in the newly re-created Highstorm, changing its nature to be far less destructive. Dalinar changes the nature of Stormlight and bonds, allowing Radiants to travel across Cosmere. Shallan becomes a worldhopper. Moash bonds with Dai-gonarthis and becomes Odium's avatar: He continues Odium's work on Roshar and searches for a way to free him, eventually starting the plot of Arc 2

In book 1 of Alcatraz, in the very first chapter, there is a scene where he is tied up to an altar. But he isn't sacrificed in that book, because he says that scene will come in a future book. As subsequent books have been produced, he continues to claim that the altar scene will be forthcoming soon, and in book 4, he says that he always planned to have it in book 5. However, throughout the books, he has claimed numerous times that he is a liar. He has tried to prove it in numerous ways, and in book 2, he had the analogy of the fish and the shoes, where you are so focused on him saying he is a fish that you forget that he actually has white shoes. My theory is that he will bring these two things together, and the altar scene will never happen. It's the ultimate way of proving that he is a liar. Because you are so focused on the storyline throughout the series, you almost forget that he is a liar, but neglecting the altar scene would make you remember that fact for a long, long time.
