  1. So I've been listening to the Wheel of Time series for the first time with audiobooks so idk how to spell anyone's names I've been really enjoying the series and I just started book 4 the Shadow Rising. The one plot line im confused about is with The Children of the Light. I can't seem to remember who is who, their rank, and their relationships. So could you guys help me keep them all straight? Also I've only read up to the prologue of Book 4 so please don't share any info that's revealed after that. I know there's one Child who kidnapped Perrin and Egwene in Book one after they met Elaidas but I can't remember his name. I know there's one who is in charge of them all. Book 3 prologue was from his POV and he's plotting something but I can't remember. I know that Padan Fain is with him trying to manipulate things under a different name. I think Padan Fains alias is Moredeeth? I know there's a Child who is secretly a Dark Friend and hates Perrin. That was revealed in the Book 3 prologue when a half man talked to him I know there's a guy who died on Almoths Plain at the end of Book 2 and his son is trying to avenge him. I think his name is Bornhold? I dont really get what their goal is? Are they just killing anyone they think is against the Light? What is the Commander scheming? Again I'm only on the prologue of Book 4 so please no spoilers after that point. Just stuff I had forgotten before this point. Thank you!
  2. I theorized on here some time ago that “the Herdazian general” would be a Dustbringer. I based that on a few things, and with the release of the first bit of Stormlight 4 today on the newsletter I’d like to revisit this theory First: We have a physical description of the General in Oathbringer, from the perspective of an Alethi officer named Sheler. “He had dark brown skin the color of a weathered stone, and there was a hint of grey in the thin mustache on his upper lip.” This matches the description of the Mink as described in the newsletter exactly. Of course, we already knew that it’s the same man, but it’s worth documenting for this next remark by Sheler. “Sheler struggled to no avail. Captured by Herdazians. Their general wasn’t even a lighteyes!” So, the general is specifically mentioned as not being a light eye. Compare this with what Lirin notices: “He bore a thin mustache on his upper lip, silvered to grey, and was perhaps in his fifties. His sun-leathered skin was darker than most Herdazians; he almost could have passed for Azish. His eyes were a cool, soft green.” Notice the difference? Suddenly he has cool soft green eyes, when before he was most certainly not a light eyes. The only ways to change eye color, that we know of, are to become a shard bearer or become a Knight Radiant Also notice this phrase: “We left obvious weapons behind,” the mink replied” Obvious weapons... what’s less obvious than a Shardblade not summoned? Now, based on this, I will theorize that he is Radiant. There’s nothing we can point at, yet, that proves beyond doubt that he is, but he is extremely slippery, as proved in Oathbringer. Also, as the Diagram says, look for those who live when they should not survive. (I’m paraphrasing that one, can’t find it on short notice) Finally, I am revising the Order that I think the Mink belongs to. Based on the new color of his eyes. They are a cool green now. This leads me to think he is an Edgedancer. It matches both the eye color and potential Surge (if what he uses to escape his manacles is indeed a Surge) TLDR: I think the Herdazian General (the Mink, an awesome nickname) is an Edgedancer
  3. So, according to the update Brandon did just barely, there will be three arcs of the story. The Primary Arc, four characters: Dalinar, Kaladin, Shallan, Szeth This will be the ‘main’ story, continuing on with the core characters we’ve seen so far The Secondary Arc, three characters that aren’t all together all the time, but the story has a lot to do with each other: Venli, Rlain, Eshonai? I think this will be the Willshaper part of the story. It seems like with Eshonai being the flashback character, this would make sense Tertiary Arc, two characters off by themselves: Jasnah and Ash Because who better to explor Aimia than Jasnah and a Herald? The number of arcs and characters in each Arc was specified by Sanderson. The rest is me speculating (for all those that haven’t read his post)
  4. In the brief reading Brandon did this last weekend, he mentioned Kaladin once again behind enemy lines, presumably on a mission to get his family out, potentially to contact and extract our second favorite Herdazian While I totally get Kaladins desire to perform that mission, he is the wrong person for the job. He’s a Windrunner, and we know from him already doing a similar stunt in Oathbringer that he is unable to use his powers without drawing way to much attention from Fused A full year after Oathbringer there should be at least three Lightweavers capable of retrieving sensitive personnel from behind enemy lines. Maybe Shallan has a baby and can’t go, but seriously, no Lightweavers available? Windrunners represent the vast majority of available Surgebinders, but sending one of the very few Windrunners that can lead squires makes our Knights Radiant weaker. A lesson that should have been learned in a post Battle of Thaylen Field world They need to start using the different Orders for the right jobs. Not every mission is a nail to be hammered with the same skill set Send Kaladin and some squires, taking a Lightweaver along, as close as possible. The Windrunners stay behind as backup. The Lightweaver goes in, pulls people out, and they all fly to the nearest open Oathgate This isn’t rocket science. It’s common sense P.S. Not knocking the authors decisions. The characters have a tendency to make the same mistakes over ad nauseam
  5. As revealed in book 4 of Alcatraz, breaking is the center of the smedry talents. Space is broken to get lost, time is broken to arrive late, and words are broken to spout gibberish. Similatic technology is based on sand and its unique properties. Often, that sand is smelted to create glass, which focuses the abilities of the sand. But what is sand? Broken Seashells. To recieve the smedry talents in the first place, the breaking talent needed to be introduced. But through somehow reforging or refining those talents, the power would be focused, with the breaking aspect removed. When the Incarna designed the talents, the breaking power did not get "mixed up" in the talents - it was a fundamental part of how those talents worked. They just didn't finish the refining process to remove the randomness.
  6. So, the first book was Kaladin's, Words of Radiance is Shallan's, book 3 is Szeth's and book 5 is Dalinar's. So who has book 4's flashbacks? Who would you like them to be? I think Eshonai would be a good choice for this because of her travels. I also would love for Navani to have a book. And I can just about guarantee it won't be Hoid. Sanderson is either holding that back for one of the final books, or holding that completely for Hoid's series. In that case we won't be seeing that for quite a while. Who do you think would be best to have the flashbacks for in book four?
  7. Hello, guys! I just made my account today, been meaning to do it for months. Anyway, I read the article that TOR put up where Branmdon Sanderson annouced the Words of Radiance title (who here didn't read it lol) and I learned a lot of other cool stuff, like Szeth having his own book and so on. So the first book belonged to Kaladin, the second will be Shallan's, the third will be Szeth and the fifth will be Dalinar's. So who do you guys want the fourth to belong to? I personally would love to see a book for Navani. I love her, she's awesome and I have a soft spot for tech inventors. But i believe it could also belong to Adolin. Ibelieve these two are the most likely (I would like it to be Navani's). But i think a book for Tarvangian would be pretty cool too. And he's old, so theose flashbacks could go pretty deep and far back. Sio, again, my question is: who would you like the fourth book to brlong to?
