  1. Okay. So I had this conversation with @IheartKaladin4eva, among others. What's up with his hair?(haha Studio C y'all) But seriously. It covers his brands, but I refuse to believe he has bangs. Because A.) Just no B.) Kaladin wouldn't think about his appearance enough to get bangs. So now that that's established, the real question is: THEN WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING WITH HIS FACE?? Is it just always in his face? Does he have a ridiculous side part that just makes his hair able to cover his forehead? I'm tortured by these questions! Also, sidenote:
  2. I know, I know. This has been done before. I'm sure of it. I just can't find one of them! So here we go. I was randomly reading a Taravangian interlude, and realized I was imagining Erick Avari's voice for Taravangian. He plays Nicodemus in The Chosen and other things I'm sure, but I don't know what they are. I feel like he's a good enough actor, and I feel like he could pull off Taravangian's evil craftiness, even though he plays a completely different type of character in The Chosen. Also Gal Gadot as Jasnah, I think. (apparently me as Sazed as well) Tom Hiddleston as Wit, and it sounds crazy(to me it did then I realized it could work), but Elijah Wood as Szeth! My ideas. EDIT I wonder, whenever they do the SA tv show, how will Kaladin's brands work? How disfiguring will they be, and will the be makeup or CG?
  3. *stupid question alert* Okay, so in Words of Radiance, Kaladin, after fighting Szeth the first time, falls unconscious randomly. Why? Also in Rhythm of War, he falls unconscious after the fight at the well. Why?
  4. Old one fell out of use and was locked, so I made another one! Let's hear it, then: what are y'alls favorite wallpapers? I'm fond of a good paisley, myself. Something kinda like this...
  5. Surprise another Shallan thread! The Fact that we have so much to talk about her means that Brandon must have done something right (or something very wrong ). But I wanted to talk about her, and not how she reacts to others, or whether she is a great or horrible character. In Oathbringer We got introduced to the fact that Shallan is viewing herself as different people or personalities. This post will seek to analyze them and try to show you who shallan really is. For consistency sake we are going to label the 3 personalities we mainly interact with in oathbringer as Veil, Radiant, and maskShallan. maskShallan refers to the times that shallan is without an illusion or when she is trying to be the Shallan she is known for publicly. Let’s start with who I consider the easiest to analyze, and that is Radiant. Radiant was created as a means to deal with the truth Shallan spoke at the end of WoR, that she is a murderer and used Pattern to kill her mom. Radiant consists of skills that Shallan was uncomfortable with using at the moment, this includes Shardblade fighting, and scholarship. Now some of you may be questioning why I put scholarship in there and I will address that later on (the organization of this is pretty hard to do…). Radiant also embodies Shallans perception of power and authority most of which she perceives from Jasnah and thus Radiant feels like a copy of a copy of Jasnah sometimes. It definitely is a copy but lacks the detail and personality of the original. Radiant has lots of skills and utility of SHallan but her personality I would argue Is not of Shallan but perhaps what Shallan wishes she was sometimes. Now let’s talk maskShallan. This is the one we are at the same time most familiar with and least familiar with because maskShallan’s purpose is one abstract thing, Comfort/Survival. maskShallan contains what Shallan needs to get through her day by day and helps her avoid anything that causes her discomfort/mental anguish. maskShallan was the character we were most familiar with but she has underwent some changes recently as her newest oath has reintroduced a memory she can no longer forget. This means she must make sure she does not think about it. She cannot have time to ponder things she must keep herself busy. Now what does scholarship require? Thinking. This is why she had to push scholarship and analyzing onto Radiant, this is one of the reasons why maskShallan had to run away from the lessons with Jasnah and go to Kolinar, if she has free time then she will have to confront who she is. This is also why when Shallan is at all of the meetings she is constantly drawing rather than taking notes or paying attention. Drawing is one of the things she can do to relax her mind to keep herself busy, she can no longer distract herself with random scholarship like she did in WoR only drawing will work now. Now Veil is complex, not that the others aren’t, but Veil is hard to pin down. We have seen hints of the parts that make up Veil from early in her flashbacks and likely before. Veil is the parts of her that would be not approved of by high society. This includes thieving, verbal jabs, improper jokes and also her painful backstory, maybe even her pain in general As she always says that Veil could deal with it. When you look at it this way you can see that veils tendencies with “the guys” is very similar to the way she acted with her brothers being “witty”. Veil also has Shallans goto method of solving problems, Thieving. When Shallans family was in trouble the solutin she came up with was to steal a soulcaster from Jasnah. Which she succeeded in with flying colors like a natural! She perfectly impersonated wanting to be jasnah ward, because remember this was her goal was to become jasnahs ward. Not to learn and study with Jasnah (But whether Scholarship is natural to Shallan or is something she formed herself to be as a disguise unconsciously to fool jasnah is another topic) she needed to get close to so she could take that soulcaster. Other options never entered serious consideration. Likewise when she was shipwrecked in danger of freezing to death she had to con the slavers into thinking she was worth their resources, that she was very important. Adolin started out as a con as well because she needed the relationship to save her family. So as @PhineasGage @Ailvara discussed in another thread Remember all of this happened or started before Shallan created Veil… or at least the illusion of Veil. The other trait that Veil possesses at this time is child Shallan's desire to rescue others. Shallan in the flashbacks was trying to save her family from themselves by helping them find interests or saving them from debts and so on. Veil in Oathbringer has this…. I don't know when it shifted over to her but it is obviously there during the Kolinar parts as she is giving food to the poor and trying to help the city. I also believe that veil contains some of the True Shallan that we haven’t been introduced to yet and is buried deep in her not wanting to be seen by anybody, EVER! As @SLNC posted in another thread "This isn't personaShallan. personaShallan is the 'prim, excitable girl who had been trained by cautious Vorin society.' ... If this is realShallan, then I would place her closer to Veil... " So who is the real Shallan, The obvious answer is that she is a blend of all 3 of them plus a more scary visceral wild part we don’t know much about. However I do believe as the sleepless wrote And at this point I would say Veil contains the most Truth of the three we know. Also thanks to everyone in the Adolin-Shallan-Kaladin thread for the much discussion about this.

Whether you use those for good or evil is up to you. You have been infiltrated by some nefarious Ghostbloods who are attempting to steal a soulcaster and a shardblade from you. 8. The impossible has happened. Steelheart is dead! And with his death many epics have either fled the city or gone into hiding leaving a power vacuum that needs to be filled. In the warrens beneath the city is where you live. You make a living alongside your fellow gang members by scavenging what you can’t intimidate from others. Time has been good to you and your crew. Rival gangs have come and gone while yours has remained strong. Until now that is. With the power vacuum above many of your fellow crewmembers feel it’s time to head to the surface and carve out some of the prime territory for themselves. However a rival gang is also eyeing up the surface for their new headquarters. While they are a small and relatively new gang they are rapidly growing and have even managed to subvert some of your fellow members. The leaders have called together all those they think have been approached by this rival gang and plan to address the situation personally…. Rules: Standard LG Elimination Rules and Etiquette apply. 72 hour cycles (48 day and 24 night) Due to rolling blackouts, mobile phones (PMs) can only be used during the night. Please include the GM in all PMs. Sign ups will last the standard 7 days. Rollover will be at 5pm NZDT / 4am UTC / 9pm MST A new player list will be included at the start of the Day phase. There will NOT be a countdown clock posted by the GM. Deaths will not be distinguishable from each other. Only those that made the kill will know who killed who. Each player can take one action per night unless otherwise stated. It is possible that not all roles are in game. You will not be told if that is the case or which ones are missing. It is also possible that there are hidden roles and/or items. Anyone who doesn’t show activity either by posting in thread or PMs at least every second full cycle will be killed. After all if you’re not helping the gang root out the traitors then you must be one of them, right? The Traitors win once they outnumber the Loyalists. The Loyalists win once the find and kill all Traitors. The Traitors have a Doc to conspire in. Roles: Side Roles: Items: Quick Links:
  9. We have a scoop for you today. Recently, a few of us at 17th Shard got to talk to Brandon, and he had a serious bombshell: he secretly wrote a book. Okay, none of us are shocked but that after the announcement of Bands of Mourning, but what we didn't expect was that the project was actually a fully formed Stormlight novel. Not Stormlight 3, but Stormlight 8. "I've been working on this for a long time," Brandon had said. "I have all the Stormlight books plotted, and it was always the plan to skip certain books. We will get back to Stormlight 3-7 eventually." We questioned further, and discovered the answer was time travel. "Time travel has always been a strong component in the science fiction and fantasy community, and I wanted to do it justice. Temporal magics have a role in the Cosmere, as you've seen with cadmium and bendalloy. I've actually seeded this into the Stormlight novels, if you looked closely." "The Truthwatchers watch every time period," he added. But if this was truly the eighth Stormlight book, how would readers who have just read the first two avoid massive spoilers to the fifth book, which will still be a decisive climax, splitting the Stormlight Archive into two five book series. "Since we are following specific characters into the future, they don't know what happens in book five either," Brandon said. When asked on how it would avoid spoiling who lived and died in books 3-7, Brandon just said, "Yeah, it's a fun first few chapters, when they find it all out." It all makes sense. We're insanely excited to see if Brandon can pull this off. There's no release date for the 500,000 word tome, as it requires rewrites. Brandon joked that Tor may need to invent time travel to develop a machine able to print the massive, door-stopping book. "I want to keep everyone guessing," Brandon said. "The fans, my characters. And now Tor can be added to the list of people guessing what will happen next." When asked if he was simply going mad with power, Brandon cackled and did his best Emperor Palpatine impression. It was comparable to Eric's terrible impression, at least a 7/10. But we are sure that Stormlight 8 will be a 10/10. Though, technically, depending on how you count, it would be a 3/10 or 8/10.
