  1. Hi Sanderfans/Sharders, I will be posting a series of "scrolls" about Moshe Feder, Brandon's Tor editor, on my blog. Moshe was the person who "discovered" Brandon and acquired Brandon's sixth novel Elantris in 2003. In 2005, Elantris became Brandon's first published novel. Moshe has kindly agreed to be interviewed for this series. Here is the first "scroll" in case any of you are interested to check it out: http://shazarose.blogspot.com/2018/08/moshe-man-behind-copper-mind-scroll-1.html This is the first scroll in what is expected to be a multi-short scroll series on Moshe. A future planned "scroll" will document half of Brandon's twin inspiration for including characters like Kaladin, Shallan and Dalinar, who all suffer from various mental health issues, in his Stormlight Archive series. Moshe himself is one half of this inspiration, and I will be documenting Moshe's bout of bipolar that he wants to share in order to help raise awareness about mental health issues. When I asked him if it would be a painful thing for him to share, he had this to say: "Not painful to share. It’s a duty to help fellow sufferers and to work on reducing stigma. When I was Corflu (fanzine fan con) GoH, it was a major part of my speech." Hope you do enjoy the series if you decide to check it out! Warmest Regards Sharon Hooper
  2. Hi, This is Sharon. I kind of joined the fandom when I realized that Brandon Sanderson would be at Worldcon 76. I joined 17th Shard to find people to go with, was asked to record signing sessions, which I did: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/356-worldcon-76/ I then started doing research into The Lightweaver Foundation. Findings here: I also met Moshe Feder, Brandon's Tor editor at the con. He has graciously agreed to be interviewed in a series of "scrolls". There will be Brandon-related stuff of course, but everything will be from Moshe's POV and of course there will be non-Brandon related stuff too. Here is the first scroll: http://shazarose.blogspot.com/2018/08/moshe-man-behind-copper-mind-scroll-1.html A future planned "scroll" will document half of Brandon's twin inspiration for including characters like Kaladin, Shallan and Dalinar, who all suffer from various mental health issues, in his Stormlight Archive series. Moshe himself is one half of this inspiration, and I will be documenting Moshe's bout against bipolar disorder that he wants to share in order to help raise awareness about mental health issues.
  3. Soooooo... who all's going to Worldcon in Dublin 2019? https://dublin2019.com There's a few of us from Reading Excuses going as it is the writing/critique group's 10th anniversary next year. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/forum/38-reading-excuses/ What do you mean you haven't been to Worldcon 2018 yet? The future is just around the corner: no time like the present for planning ahead
  4. Hi! On Brandon's site it is mentioned that upcoming event is in San Jose and I will be around the area during the time. I would LOVE to meet him. Can someone give details as to how to register and what it costs. Who else are interested and can meet him on the day? Thanks!
  5. We're heading off to Worldcon tomorrow, which is in Finland this year. Anyone else from this site going? I know it doesn't have Sanderson, but it does have a lot of other interesting things
  6. So the Werthead made a report on the WoT-centric panel he moderated at WorldCon. I am not officially really excited for the Wheel of Time Companion book. 350,000 words!?!?!?!?!?!? Heck yes! (Don't read the report if you haven't finished the series.)
  7. On 19th April a few UK-ers met up for drinks in London, and lo, 'twas awesome. On twitter, Peter mentioned that Brandon will be doing a signing in the UK sometime in July/August (NOT at LonCon, 'though Harriet will be there) so that's 2 potential meet up dates: 1) The Signing (details to follow when we know when it'll be, I'm thinking pre/post meetup and drinks); and 2) LonCon 14-18 August 2014, ExCel London - if people are going LonCon let us know the dates you will be there and we can maybe meet up for a Sanderfan toast/drinks. Let me know if you're interested in coming along, had a great time at the weekend and would be awesome to meet up and have very involved cosmere convos again
