Hello hello hello! I don't know how many people know this, but there's a Mistborn RPG? Mistborn Adventure Game It's super cool. I haven't done anything with it yet, but I really want to. However, there's also an additional book you can get that's based on Alloy of Law and general Era 2 stuff. Alloy of Law Book Inside of this second one is a bunch of stuff for Twinborn, including some other names for them! We know that Wax is a Crasher, but did you know that Wayne is a Constant? And Miles Hundredlives is known as a Timeless? There's a bunch of names, so here they are! The Mistborn Adventure Game isn't canon, and Brandon didn't write these names. I think that it's still a fun idea and cool to look at all of them!

So i just came up with this and have no real idea if all this is true but the information we know is Wayne got his lucky hat from a cab driver -Hoid was on Scadrial watching wax and Wayne poised as a cab driver so my idea is that Wayne's hat could have been Hoids hat and has a chance that its invested. i know its probably not true but Id like to think Wayne was at least kinda right about the hat being special. also yes at this point Wax hadn't hired Hoid but he was maybe still poising as a cab driver on the planet just to keep a watch on Harmony sword. just wanted to see what you guys thought about it.

i'll probably post this a few paragraphs at a time. each chapter is going to be short too. Prologue:

Mistborn Era 2 counts in base 16 with "sixteens of years," "sixteens upon sixteens of cars," and "sixteens of feet," all crafted from the premise that there are 16 base metals. Wayne's fascination with 17 instead of 16, however, in the "Lost Metal" particularly drew my interest. Wayne chooses 17 for his scale of 1 to 17, instead of 16: And then he keeps his scale at 17, despite Marasi's reaction to the number: Hoid surprisingly accepts Wayne's live rat in trade for his precious harmonica after Sir Squeekins escapes from Wayne 17 times: And finally, Wayne uses 17 bags of bendalloy to become the surprise hero of Era 2, where Harmony thinks 17 will be enough: Seventeen. Now, if you're a normal, well-adjusted reader sauntering through these passages, you probably just keep on moving. But I have never been a normal, well-adjusted reader, particularly after Sanderson took hold of me. There is always another secret, and Sanderson leaves the best crumbs. Even though I'm reasonably sure Wayne's 17 is meant to grab our attention and point to a future secret, what I don't know - what I really have no idea about - is what Wayne's 17th secret truly is. My best guess points to one more base metal: 17 base metals instead of 16. Does this mean we also have one more god? One more shard? A hidden one? The new shard of Harmony? But Harmony as the 17th shard doesn't really seem to fit, in my opinion, because there will likely be lots of mergings of shards in our journey to putting Humpty Dumpty back together again, to a new Adonalsium, which is where I think the whole cosmere is headed. And are we truly done with Wayne? Most of me cannot fathom Wayne sticking around or ascending, and yet part of me marvels at how blatantly our tale's Blatant Barm beginning mirrors the ending: "It gets better," Wayne's Ma tells us, "because the ending has a surprise." Jak defeats his villain by being swallowed by the beast and then choking the beast from the inside as he goes down with him, both ending in tragedy. Sound familiar? But there is always another secret with Sanderson, the promised surprise ending. Jak "sauntered out down its tongue—like it was some fancy mat set outside a carriage for a rich man" (where Wayne describes himself as "a fancy rich guy now"). Another interesting observation, which may or may not be related, is how atium (Ruin's body) and lerasium (Preservation's body) disappear as Preservation and Ruin disappear while Harmony emerges just as ettmetal, also known as harmonium (Harmony's body), emerges. The only known method for separating harmonium back into atium and lerasium occurs by applying trellium (Autonomy's body), with limited success. Is this metal splitting a foreshadowing of how Autonomy herself will eventually split Harmony back into Ruin and Preservation, in Era 3 perhaps? Or is this a metaphor for something that already started to happen with limited success? Miles Hundredlives describes trellium as "the final metal" (Lost Metal pg 58). I'm not sure what that means but it seems significant. Wax describes trellium as extremely hard and brittle (Lost Metal pg 86), where surely hard and brittle describe both the metal and the shard itself. "Stannis is pure iron, black and hard and strong, yes, but brittle, the way iron gets. He'll break before he bends." (A Clash of Kings, GRRM) Harmonium, on the other hand, is "pliable" (Lost Metal pg 86) and so "highly unstable" that the metal must be kept in a protective oil to keep it from reacting to the very air (Lost Metal pg 89). Just. Like. Harmony. Oh, I hate that for Sazed. He's so good, a wonderful person to be a vessel. But no one would be able to hold Harmony for long by its very nature. Will all merging shards be highly unstable until we reach back to a new Adonalsium? Is a 17th shard needed as glue to unify the shards permanently and make our new Adonalsium truly eternal?

I was thinking how do you age when you are in a speed bubble. Would you age like if you where not in a speed bubble? Would you age at a normal rate relative to your speed bubble? What I mean is if you where in a speed bubble for 5 minutes would you age by 25 ish minutes or 5 minutes. If you age relative to not being in the speed bubble could that have interesting affects for a savent (probably spelt that wrong)

Yes you read the title. Yes I'm not kidding This is a outgrowth of several other theories and details which i find interesting. 1. Wayne had a really unlucky childhood. (Both parents & uncle dying when he was young, being pulled unwittingly into crime, etc) 2. Wayne has been extraordinarily lucky in recent years from his investments, to picking up the bands of mourning, to giving them to exactly who would need them later. not to mention getting involved in incredibly important recent events. 3. Wayne uses hats to adopt different personas 4. In this weeks chapter, Wayne admitted his lucky hat helped him hold onto his own over the top personality. 5. Many suspect that Wayne will eventually become a Kandra/worldhopper. Sooooo how are all these important? A number of things. Hats in elendel are often lined with aluminum (to shield against emotional allomancy) So heres the theory. Wayne is born to a poor Terris family in tinweight. Full feruchemy has been unheard of since the Catecendre. He lives directly next to a mine. This is where the theory goes off the rails. the town is not called tin, but tin-weight. Guess what metal has a near identical room temperature density as tin? Chromium. This would be the only magically useful metal available to a destitute young wayne. We see from vin, using allomancy as an orphan kid on the streets that complicated metallic arts may not require specific knowledge or intent, just a vague idea of what you want to do. Wayne says he wants to learn cards to help win the family money, and implies he knows how to cheat. Obviously he could cheat with mundane means, but something odd happens in the sample chapters so far. Wayne plays a game of cards with captured set member, but chooses to play fairly even when he knows their cards. This might suggest he dislikes the principles of normal cheating. E.G. peering over your opponents shoulder, pulling out fake cards etc. Wayne has shown a consistent, but rather bizarre set of morality so far, so this kind of hypocrisy wouldn't be too surprising. But what if Wayne knows how he can get a leg up without doing anything so dishonorable. What if he just gets lucky? Here's the thing. With F-Chromium, he could do just that. By making most of his days unlucky, he could channel his luck into gambling, and make big returns. This could be related to a reveal of how wax's uncle did something similar with gambling and F-Chromium. But in the end it backfired. His poor luck killed his mother, and perhaps earlier his father and uncle too. He might have unconsciously funneled his luck in other aspects of his life When he gets older, and learns more about how the metallic arts work, he realizes what happened in his youth. He had just been trying to be useful to his single mother, and had instead just gotten her killed. He goes into a deep depression, and spirals into crime, repressing his childhood trauma, and in the end, killing an innocent man. But then he gets rescued by Waxillium. He finds new purpose in the law, and ends up distracting from his traumatic past by creating over the top personas. Wierdly enough, he links these to hats of all things. Interestingly, most of his hats are fancy rich people hats. Guess what's high fashion in elendel? Aluminum lines hats. Guess what F-Aluminum stores? That's right. Identity. Wax has been magically storing his personas in his fancy hats this entire time. Wax has been creating personas, and stapling them to the hats in his collection. This links interestingly with a theory that the bowler hat men after Wayne are debt collectors, but debtors, or perhaps trying to give Wayne his equity portions from his investments in the last few books. As a kid, Wayne learned that his pursuit of money only lead to his misery, and grief, explaining why he is so apathetic to his newfound wealth in recent books despite growing up dirt poor. He despises what money did to his life as a kid. He gives it away in any way possible. To the family of his first and last victim, to a promising new inventor making a better elendel etc. And how has Wayne been so lucky despite seemingly bumbling through these last few books? Fortune, caused by F-Chromium. Theres been a lot coincidences I've seen people observe.Shout out to @Requiem17 For the idea that Wayne has access to fortune. This is the same mechanic allowing Hoid to show up exactly where he needs to be when he needs o be there. It just works out for him. So heres the kicker. Wayne in the prologue is shown even early on having a fascination with switching identities through his quote on trying on all the different clothes. This, and his hats may foreshadow him eventually becoming a kandra, hopefully with a happy ending with MeLaan. But how can he become a kandra? All kandra were made from full feruchemists turning into mistwraiths, Perhaps by blanking identity, and maybe some additional steps. This could work with this theory, and would be an interesting conclusion to his character. PS: some holes in the theory. Full Feruchemy apparently vanished due to the entrance of Allomantic genes into terris populations post catecendre. Also while the aluminum hats with identity is really interesting it is unlikely that Wayne is subconsciously using fortune, since he probably avoids carrying random metals around just like wax and Marasi. He could have instinctually tapped the bands of mourning when he picked them up though, and thats how that worked out that he happened to give them to Marasi at the perfect time just @robardin pointed out on the forum. The idea that he's doing this subconsiously is also a bit of a stretch, but in less a month, we'll see how this theory pans out

Anyone else notice how Wayne is uncannily good at picking up information before it happens or doing the exact right thing at the exact right time to save the day? I'm starting to think it's supernatural. Here's a few off the top of my head. Alloy of Law Came to Elendel right before the wedding that Steris was kidnapped at. This could be a writerly reason. Comments on how innocent looking stuff is always exploding around Wax a few minutes before Tillaume blew up Swiped the tea that Tillaume had poisoned for Wax When Wax shot the bullet in midair, Wayne dropped the bubble at exactly the right time (okay, there's been discussion on Wax's accuracy, but the timing on that is insane the more I look at it, unless they have specifically practiced over and over with this kind of stunt, which is likely. This is the closest they have to firing out of a speed bubble) Bands of Mourning Finds and steals the Bands of Mourning within minutes of arriving at the Sovereign's Temple Swaps the Bands of Mourning for ReLuur's spike in Marasi's bag, right where and when she needed it. This is just after thinking about how he doesn't pay attention to what society says something is worth, unless by itself it's worth more than a house. This one is really suspicious to me. I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones I remember easily. Anyone have any others they can think of? Are these coincidences or does this have something to do with Wayne's resonance? Does Wayne just have insanely good instincts? Is Wayne's mind broken enough that Harmony can nudge him (Wax would probably say so in jest, but I dunno)? Here's what has been noted about Wayne's resonance: I'm wondering if something about his accelerated time and tapping into his Spiritual self while storing and withdrawing health is giving him a bit of instinctive future sight, but I'm not good with resonances. Thoughts?

In SoS, when at the Governor's party at ZoBell tower, Wayne says he hides his dueling canes in his fake belly. how short do you think they are? I always assumed they were around 3/3.5 feet long, but to hide in a fake stomach, they'd have to be more like batons. Is this kind of like a Roshar Chicken situation, where the term dueling cane is used "one size fits all"?

What makes Brandon's funny characters and humor work for me even when they aren't that funny:

Okay, its time for another one of these. Tin savant Spook from book 3 before he became Mistborn, Wayne with 3 1/2 minutes worth of bendalloy, and enough healing for 3 different gunshot wounds, with the wounds closing completely over 5 seconds. As a side note, Spook does not have access to allomantic pewter. Also, neither knows the others powers. EDIT: Neither of them have guns. Both are armed with Dueling Canes. Spook Strengths: - Super Duper Senses. Spook Weaknesses: -Um... I can't think of any. Loud noises? Wayne Strengths: -Decades of experience 1v1ing people. Wayne Weaknesses: -Um... He really likes his hats. Anything I missed? Thoughts?

There are "a few" things we don't know about Wayne. For example, we don't know his last name. Here are my questions, and feel free to add more. Does Wayne have a last name, and, if so, what is it? I have more questions, but I forgot most of them. I'll edit them in once I remember them.

Ok, so I’m reading AOL again, and I noticed how the illustrator made Wayne carry a gun. Was this just a mistake, or is there some reason to it?

Okay so I knew that Wax had a resonance (his steel bubble) but I this WOB stated that Wayne also had a resonance. My question came from this WOB. Any ideas on what it might be?

This week we just did a review of Mistborn Era 2 AKA the Wax and Wayne novels. Help us by commenting what we missed, did wrong, or should do in the future!

Yeah yeah, I know that's not how it works... but GOSH, DO I WISH. I'm new to the forum and (relatively) new to the Cosmere. I read the Mistborn series (all six books) last year and just finished the Stormlight Archive, including Edgedancer. Next on my reading list is Warbreaker and then Elantris. Professionally, I work as a graphic designer, but during my spare time I am a budding fantasy/sci-fi writer. I've been writing as a hobby since I was in elementary school, and have completed and published a few short stories. Now I'm working on my first novel, and Brandon Sanderson's approach to worldbuilding has been a huge inspiration for that. You're probably not interested in an autobiography, so here's some fun Cosmere facts about me: Favorite Sanderson book: Words of Radiance (though Part Five: New Unity of Oathbringer would be my top choice if a section of a book counted) Favorite Character(s): Wayne, Kaladin, Sazed, Dalinar, Wit/Hoid, Lopen, Shallan (in that order) Roshar or Scadrial: Roshar, unless I could live specifically in Alloy of Law-era Scadrial Mistborn, Feruchemist, or Knight Radiant: Mistborn Number of times Brandon Sanderson has made me cry: TOO MANY

So, 17th shard, I've been here for a while and these forums seem to have everything Brandon related. Lots of theories, a library of WoB, amazing artwork, Role playing degenerated into a baking goods war... But there is something that deserves a place, a special place, and if there isn't one yet this is my convocation for it's creation. We need to collect those amazingly bright pieces of wisdom that Wayne is always spitting around and bring them together. So first, I'll start with this particular saying of his that has given me great insight into the true meaning of life:

I have always loved the movie The Magnificent Seven. The original Seven Samurai is a triumph in movie history, the old one is a classic, and the remake was amazing. I have created a version of this, set in the time when Wax was a lawman. It doesn't follow the plot of Seven Samurai, it just has seven lawmen involved, though two of them are women. I'm almost ready to post the first part. It should be out Monday or Tuesday. Note: I am still working on Threnody short story, working title The Bard at River's End.

Hey all I’m new in the forums and I had a few questions. I was listening to The Final Empire again and a thought came to my head when Sazed is explaining to Vin that he is a Eunuch. In The alloy of law Wayne makes a statement about having fingers blown off and having to grow them back. Now with Sazed being a feruchemist he has the same healing ability as Wayne so if Wayne is able to grow back body parts ie. fingers in this case. Shouldn’t Sazed be able to grow back his male genitalia? Is there something I’m missing that makes it so he cannot.

This may very well be a crackpot theory, or already suggested, but that probably goes without saying. Honestly, it's one of those thoughts I just had to express before I went to bed, so... here it goes. I've been thinking about Resonance a lot lately because I've been looking at the MAG Era 2 books and wondering how it might manifest for different Twinborn. Wax's Resonance is strongly suggested by Brandon to be his steel bubble, and he's confirmed that Wayne also has one. I think Wayne's is tangentially lightweaving. I'll explain. On Roshar, we can see that the Investiture operates as a spectrum, with every Order sharing an ability type with an adjacent order, and each one having a Resonance unique to their Order. Resonance has been described as acting like wavelengths colliding and, in this case, would be the two powers of the Order resonating into the third. We've been told that Hoid had an ability similar to Lightweaving, and on Sel, we see an Investiture that mimics Soulcasting. It stands to argue that these wavelengths, though they manifest differently, are constant at least to some degree across Shardworlds. If you look at Wax's abilities, Steelpushing is very clearly similar to a Lashing. I'd argue Gravitation. His other ability, to alter his weight, he uses very similar to Abrasion (though an argument could be made for Tension). Between Gravitation and Abrasion is Division, which could easily be what his Steel Bubble does as it pushes objects away. Arguably, if this is his Resonance, then it falls in the middle of the Spectrum between his two natural abilities. Like on the light spectrum, if blue and yellow are his abilities, green is his Resonance. Which brings me to Wayne. His abilities are healing and bending time (/space), which seem to correlate to Transportation and Progression. Between those are Transformation and Illusion, both of which could explain his inhuman skill at taking on disguises. I believe that this talent either is his Resonance or is directly related to his Resonance. If this is true, and the powers really do operate on a constant spectrum across the Shardworlds, what ramifications might that have on other magic systems? Adding for clarity (from my reply below): My apologies. I clarified in an earlier reply that calling Wayne a Lightweaver was deliberately provocative; my actual suggestion was that his Resonance (in my suggestion, his accent imitations) are similar to the mnemonic devices gained as Resonance by Lightweavers (such as Shallan's photographic memory). I also did not mean to suggest that the powers had a direct correlation in the way they manifest, merely that there is a connection between the, as you say, Cosmere fundamentals. That is to say that, while Investiture manifests in various ways, it still manifests along a consistent spectrum, most obviously with Knights Radiant. If the fundamentals are indeed related, such as Gravitation on Roshar and Steel/Iron on Scadrial, then it has wider implications for how it might manifest on other Shardworlds or in different resonances.

There is more to Wayne than he is letting on He is Fiercely intelligent, a fantastic actor as well as courageous; As such I'm never quite sure what to think of him. what is a facade and what isn't. How genuine is he really? I just cant seem to trust the guy. And then I had an idea Wayne is one of the 'Faceless Immortals' of the Set Yes, he has Allomancy but so did bleeder Yes, he's a blood maker but that is easily replicated by a Kandra. It was even said that MeLaan would have been a good choice for operation rotten tomato He has better mimicry than a Kandra You might say that he can't be a villain, he's a POV character, we would have known ages ago, BUT we've all seen how easily Wayne gets into character. When he does his thoughts AS POV changes And I think that BranSan has left enough foreshadowing to allow for it Tell me what you guys think? Is this a crazy theory? Too crazy? Just crazy enough to work?

Forks. Knives. Spoons. But most importantly, Forks. Brandon Sanderson is as far as possible from random. Every word, character interaction, response, and idea matches with something else. Except Forks. Until today. There are two character’s we know of to have shown a fascination with these quad-pointed eating utensils: Wayne, and everybody’s favorite Ruin spiked crazy old Mistborn sensei, Gemmel. The obvious first thought (as shown in the thread title) is a blood relation, but anything could be. Reincarnation? Survivorist spin-off religion? Only time, and perhaps a WoB, will tell

Are we SURE it's Odium attacking Harmony at Scadrial? If Harmony had to divest himself of power to keep them away from Odium. He has admitted to being trapped and at odds with his dual natures in the final Letter in Oathbringer. I wonder what character he might choose as successor? Have you? Any thoughts?

Ok, so based on what we know about lightweaving perception. And how Shallan must draw something before she can lightweave, do you guys think that Wayne would have to wear someone’s hat before he could become them via lightweaving?
