  1. Spoilers for SLA and secret projects in this theory! I just wrapped up Rhythm of War again, my first read after the sample chapters from the secret projects. It has me thinking about the technology progression on Rothar. Urithiru is already one of the most technically advanced construction in the Cosmere, and I assume it will continue to evolve as Navani and the Sibling come up with new fabrials to add to the system. I am hoping we see a couple developments with Urithiru. First, an ability to teleport itself around Roshar so that armies can move without requiring to marshall out on the path gates. Then eventually Urithiru becoming a cosmere traveling “mothership”, teleporting between planets and potentially even being deployed in space. The sibling can already create pressure and atmosphere, why not artificial gravity as well? I am so ready for Urithiru to elsecall itself into LOE over a planet and have Radiants halo jump to battle!
  2. I looked online to see if anyone talked about this, and i didn’t find anything so I guess I’ll make a post. as some may know, I’m a believer that stormlight isn’t a book of the end of the world, but is in fact a book about the revival of the world, as in the following post talking about mistborn and stormlights differences. So in holding to this, I have a theory for book 5 but first some background to the thoughts. I believe in oathbringer the stormfather mention that odium rides the storm like honor used to, and what do we know about odium riding storms? He’s able to protect his army and ships while destroying others in his path. what if honor did the same thing. The stormfather said that honor loved humans. That he protected and died for them. What if he literally protected them from the storms when he was alive. shielding them and their cities from the full force of the storm. Kinda like what kaladin has done a couple of times. The bases of the theory come from one of the visions Dalinar gets when the midnight essence was released, the people lived in wooden houses, and was confused about why Dalinar was mentioning living in caves and in stone buildings. That must be because there is no need to worry about the storms, their god honor literally protects them. Also a legend, of karbronth. Called the city of bells. Saying they would hang bells outside to tell if a highstorm was even happening. Laughed at but maybe it holds more weight then we originally thought. and I think we are starting to see the stormfather change slightly, where he now considers the request of kaladin and of Dalinar.(why would he consider it if he couldn’t do the request?) To where in RoW when arguing with Dalinar he mentions how the two people didn’t survive due to a boulder hitting them. Dissipate just mentions how he only sees the front of the storm. (Stormfather is a filthy lier) what’s yalls thoughts? TLDR: I believe that the storms didn’t hurt people when Honor was alive. And that the stormfather might return to that state becoming a storm that cares.
  3. Greetings friends! This is my very first post in here, matter of fact I registered to get some opinions on this idea I got while re-reading WoK. It's quite simple, though maybe a bit ridiculus, it feels to me like the Palaneum could be the hole created by the rock that was then moved to become Urithiru. Which isn't much, but goes some way in explaining the origin of the two locations. it makes sense because: they're both gigantic mystical creations with misterious ancient origins one is a huge pyramid-like hole, one is a huge tower, which I guess you could carve from a pyramid the cities are fairily close Brandon did go out of his way to describe the library as "a giant staircase pointing toward the center of Roshar. ", with elevators to go up and down, which feels to me like an upside down Urithiru It does not make sense because: I always imagined the palaneum to be far smaller, but looking around I have found no actual details about it, and we never did explore it fully It's more than a bit ridiculous I found very few WOBs relating to the Palanaeum, but I do expect the library to be hugely important in the history of Roshar, I mean 'Stormlight Archive' right? But please, tell me what silly thing I forgot that makes me inesorably wrong, cause I must be missing something! Also sorry if this was already discussed, I looked around and don't believe it was
  4. First post, long time lurker. I'm copying a theory i sent to my brother and I haven't proofread this. Ok bear with me here I think Bah Ado Mishram’s imprisonment is the cause of the deadeye spren. There’s an epigraph where kalek pleads for her release because he claims her capture affected not just roshar but all Spren. He was present for her capture, as well as the recreance and the false desolation. There’s more. After maya’s “we chose” testimony, adolin asks her if they knew the spren would die, she says, verbatim “pain yes, death no, maybe” how would the spren know there would be pain from a broken Nahel bond, but didn’t know they would die? Unless they had seen it happen before the inprisonment. Perhaps they saw some evidence that spren were dying from broken bonds in the time between that and the recreance, but not enough to make a decisive conclusion. They knew it would hurt though because it always hurts when a bond is broken. Lastly, and this is just assumptions. All the deadeye spren that are meeting at lasting integrity are going to be fixed. The next book is going to involve the release of Bah ado mishram. Then there will be thousands upon thousands of radiant spren to bond. Winning the war. And adolin will be one of them when maya is fixed. He said the first ideal to her, and they formed a bond but she didn’t change yet.
  5. In RoW, we get a more information on the whereabouts of Honorblades from multiple different sources. We get enough random Honorblades that it feels like Brandon is signposting something. What if the Honorblades are keys to making new Heralds? Being that the Honorblades are required in order to connect new Heralds to the Oathpact? Additionally, we have a super simple way to get new Heralds: Rysn as the Change Dawnshard. The Plan is to Change the Oathpact with Rysn (possibly revealing some history of the Dawnshard. To do this, you need the ten Honorblades and the Dawnshard and then Dalinar, as a Bondsmith, could take up the Dawnshard and command the Oathpact to Change the bearers of the Oathpact, who could renew it by going back to Braize. Or there is another person who could possibly pick up the Dawnshard, but that's a Spoiler for SP 4.
  6. Listen to paige's discrimination of her survival at sounds a lot like a epic first awakening namely that when they first use there power they go insane and try to kill anything in reach. Afterwards she is strangely calm about trusting and working with epics especially for a reckoner who's parents were killed by epics. In addition we the only other person to survive the death rise serum is an epic all the non epics we see take it die.
  7. I would like to preface this by stating that controlling the mind of a being in the cosmere is no small feat. It would appear that one must have a damaged spirit web for it to occur. We see, afaik, two instances of "mind control" and frankly it's more like 1.5. The obvious one is the kollos, kandra, and other hemalurgic constructs. It would appear that either with enough investiture: Trell, Ruin, or Specialized Powers: allomancers, that these beings can be controlled nearly completely. There are also the lifeless. Who are controlled completely by seemingly non-powered individuals. It is possible that most awakened objects may also fall here, but lifeless are more sentient. Now, my theory revolves around a large dose of speculation. Shards are forbidden or in some way restricted from controlling the minds of non-broken-spiritweb folks. And that given the huge difference in power between Ruin and Mistborn, that a powered up soother/rioter/mistborn could control the minds of normal people. How? A combination of powers. Allomancy: the only power we know of that can directly affect the minds of targets. (Except maybe aviar right?) Feruchemy: duralumin feruchemy is necessary for this theory because I believe that it could strengthen the Connection to the mind of the allomancers target. The 8th heightning: which allows awakeners to break the commands of others. Which I propose would help break the Investiture-mind control-barrier in non- spiked people. What do yall think? could this combination of powers allow for mind control? Would you add any abilities? Is there some easier way I have missed?
  8. I think Hoid's endgame plan is to recreate Adonalsium he is gathering and gaining access to all the types of investiture all over the Cosmere is to either turn himself into Adonalsium or make a mini Adonalsium to test the principal and make sure it is a good idea. I think he regrets his role in the killing of Adonalsium and wants to undo it and that is why he keeps traveling and getting access to all the different types of investiture. I mean think about it he is now a Mistborn, Knight Radiant, possessor of the Moon Staff and I think he is a Sand Master he also has the original powers of someone from Yolen. And we don't know what else he might have access to I do think he's going to have to wait till space travel is exists so he can visit all the planets including the dangerous ones. We also know he was trying to become an Elantrian but failed I think that drove him to steal the Moon Staff. So that about wraps my theory. I'd love to hear people's takes and objections to this!
  9. So I was listening to shardcast (a recent event) and they were theorizing about why the tukari were Shrouded in shadow no matter the angle. and so a theory popped into my head, what if the tukari are not completely in the CR? so this theory hinges on two ideas. 1: that ishar didn’t know he could make a perpendicularly until Dalinar made one 2: that ishar can Connect people to the CR like he could Connect spren to the PR so the main theory is that he is connecting about 90-95% of the person and supplies they use to the CR to easily transport between realms, and once they come back to a meeting place, he goes over himself and pulls everyone back to the PR. what’s your thoughts? Do you think ishar used a perpendicularly before his meeting with Dalinar?
  10. First off, @Frustration I'm counting on you to be mean to my theory. Now, we know that after RoW, Taravangian took up the shard of Odium. The question is, what will he do with it. We know his main goal is to protect those closest to him, but if he can, he hopes to save as much of Roshar as he can. I would like to propose a very risk free way to do this: give Cultivation the shard of Odium. I believe this would work because, as this WoB illustrates, ROdium was afraid of combining with other shards, because "terrible things would happen. This means that potentially, another shard would change the intent enough that, even when the power is overpowering the vessel completely, they would not harm Roshar, at least not to the full extent. If the intent doesn't change enough, at the very least, the vessel would be partially immobilized, as Brandon describes here with reference to Sazed's situation. Now, why wouldn't TOdium just steal another shard for himself? Well, the other shards are aware of his streak of killing other shards, and then splintering the powers, thus, even those that potentially are okay with giving up their shard would avoid him at all costs. Taravangian knows this though, and he is still very smart, even if he doesn't still have his bane/boon. This means that he will plan around this, and he knows that the only way to accomplish the combination of his shard is to give it up and allow another vessel to take it up. Most likely cultivation, because she can probably be trusted, and is very accessible. Now the hardest part, giving away the shard. This is hard because we are aware of multiple individuals/groups that would love to swipe the shard, and TOdium can't just go up to Cultivation and give her the shard. Now, I'm not the best when it comes to realistic theory, but I would guess that it is possible to put the accumulation of the shard, or whatever it is that a person uses to take up a shard, entirely in the spiritual realm. With the spiritual realm being pretty inaccessible to those who we don't want getting the shard, but easy for Cultivation to reach, this makes it an ideal place for the transfer.
  11. this is another theory that I have had for a while but haven't done anything with. I think that in the pits of Hathsin the voice telling Kelsier to survive is actually him being granted a Dawnshard by preservation. my main reason for this is that he describes it as a command in an extremely similar way to when Rysn gets her Dawnshard. another reason I have for this is that preservation says that he was the one telling Kelsier to survive in the pits but the thing is that it is an important aspect of preservation that he cannot speak into the mind of people, only read them. however, the biggest reason I have for this is that throughout era 1 it is a very important thing that Leras couldn't ruin, even to preserve, we know that this isn't an aspect of the power because vin can still do it when she has the shard. what I'm saying is that the reason for Leras being unable to cause harm, even having his hand being forced when he stabs Elend, is that he held a Dawnshard, which prevents him from causing harm. Also who better to hold the Dawnshard of survival than the shard of preservation. now a larger part of my theory is why preservation would give a Dawnshard to Kelsier, I think that the reason for this is that in Leras's grand plan which we hear fuzz speak of in secret history is actually to form harmony and that in order to do that he needed to have Kelsier kill the lord ruler and so needed to give him motivation by saving him from death at Rashek's command, thus allowing the events of the rest of the series to take place, eventually resulting in Sazed becoming harmony. now you may ask if this was preservations plan all along, than why was Fuzz horrified when he found out that Kelsier had caused the lord rulers death. the answer to this is simple in that we hear Fuzz say that he doesn't remember the plan and know that he has progressively lost his mind. I'd like to know what holes you guys can see in this theory.
  12. Alethela, the country that is the watcher at the rim. Who learn war to better protect the world when the voidbringers return. Within this country is a book. An important book that every officer has to read. But why? lets look at two people that suffer from the same affliction especially when you look back. Moash and Amaram. exhibit 1: Amaram Let’s look at past interactions with the light of RoW to see what’s happening in the background. (Also SA5 Prologue in spoiler section) We know after kaladin gained his first pair of shards Amaram betrayed and killed kaladins squad. But why? in tWoK after winning his shards kaladin and his remaining squad are in Amarams command tent waiting for Amaram to finish talking to someone. This someone we find out is restaries. The herald Kelek, leader of the sons of honor. we then hear Amaram saying that after hours of discussion he finally agreed to restaries idea to take the shards himself to better serve alethkar. Within this we can see that kaladin himself mentioned that he saw Amarams guilt on his face. And tried to do the most honorable thing in his position and sold him as a slave. after Amarams confrontation with kaladin and Dalinar he starts regretting letting kaladin live. A bit different then during the confrontation, where he looked hurt and guilty but also apologized and said that he did it for alethkar not personal. now in oathbringer we start seeing Amaram descend into a downward spiral. he tries to forge an alliance with Dalinar(who he witnessed burn a city killing everyone in anger) but keeps being shamed by him(for killing four men for literally one of the most powerful weapons in roshar). Being put to physical work in a broken country that every alethi knew would be a perfect, easy, capture. Being contacted by odium with promises of power, and no guilt or anger. exhibit 2: moash not much is really needed to be said in this post about moash. I talked more about Amaram because people don’t seem to want to understand him. Hating him because kaladin hates him. Or at best feeling sad about lost potential. but moash has been debated on and hated on constantly sense WoR we know he’s effected by the unmade losing his negative emotions and feeling a void. (Interesting especially sense it seems positive emotions aren’t effected as far as we know) and it seems he truly wants this. So theirs that. so back to alethela, my theory on this is that people read tWoK not just to make it easier to bond spren, but to help the leaders not to make miss steps, to not act in greed to open themselves to the unmade, as we saw the unmade alone completely wiped out cities, countries, with their advance emotional allomamcy. so what do you think? Was tWoK used as a life style to better live by honor?
  13. Hey all, back again with more rampant crackpot speculation. This time it's definitely something way more casual, rather than a genuine cosmere-physics theory. What if Minecraft's Overworld (and perhaps Nether and End) were in the cosmere? Well for one, let's look at Enchanting and Potions, the two most blatant arcana of the game. Enchanting uses EXP, but also consumes Lapis... I wonder if it's a bit like a Biochromatic Breath situation, where the EXP is the Investiture and the Lapis provides a catalyst like the Color for awakening. Lapis IS historically "the" blue dye, and you can turn it into a literal blue dye item in minecraft, so that checks out. Words are definitely also important to Enchanting though, given the whole Bookshelf thing... A bit like AonDor, then? Hmm... Well, as for Potions, the most obvious Investiture source for them is the Nether Wart that turns a water bottle into an Awkward Potion. Adding other items alters the effect, so perhaps it's like how the different Metals can focus Investiture into doing specific things. Gold actually is pretty consistent with that; even in Minecraft, gold is used for healing. Gold apples give regeneration, and Glistering Melon slices (made with gold) create Healing potions. Huh. That kinda works too well. Alright, so we've speculated about the actual, overt magic of Minecraft. Now for the fun part. Sculk and Redstone. "Wait, what? How is Redstone a system of Investiture?" Good question, I'm glad you asked, me. That one's a bit more speculative, so let me discuss Sculk first, because it'll segue nicer into Redstone. Sculk is most likely a collection of Investiture-fed organisms similar to the Lichen of White Sand, except they feed on EXP instead of invested Sunlight. The Sculk Catalyst takes EXP from killed mobs nearby and uses it to grow new Sculk, overtaking blocks and even growing new Sculk Sensors, which are VERY, VERY interesting. Sensors detect different frequencies of vibrations and output a Redstone signal. If you use a Comparator, they even output a signal from 1-16. Hmm. Very nice number, that. Suspiciously nice. The Warden also might be an example of the Sculk acting like the worms that Aviar eat in order to gain their invested powers. An invested symbiote. Of course, it could also just be something that the Sculk creates to defend itself... But there's a few subtle details about the Warden that make me believe it's a symbiotic defender of the Sculk, primarily the "soul" particles we see in the chest, that beat at different rhythms when it gets agitated or when it's calm. Even if the entire Physical form is Sculk-generated, I believe at least the core of its Spiritweb would be taken from something else. As to what, I have no clue. Anyway, back to the Sensor and its curious behavior. I find it very convenient that it interacts with Redstone in such a specific way. Almost as if they shared a common link. Almost as if Redstone Signals are a form of Investiture... Wouldn't that sort of explain how you can just put a stick on a block of cobblestone to make a lever that can cause a piston to lift, what, 16 blocks of solid iron a meter upwards? Where the hell is that energy coming from? Well, how about the Spiritual Realm? What if Redstone is Corrupted Investiture manifested in a physical form, growing underground like an Atium Geode? That begs the question then, which shard is corrupting which other shard? I propose that it's Autonomy corrupting Invention. It just seems like it makes sense. Redstone fits both of those shards' Intent quite well, and ties back into the Sculk because Autonomy seems to have a thing for invested lifeforms like the Sand Lichen and the Aviar. But Invention... I mean... Isn't that just the essence of Minecraft? I would almost expect Invention's actual Shardworld to feel kinda like modded Minecraft. Wait, the essence of minecraft... EXP? Well that would tie things together nicely. After all, it seems to be actions that involve invention that produce EXP. Gathering resources and changing them into new forms, like mining iron ore and turning it into ingots, or cooking food, or killing mobs for resources. Crafting doesn't give EXP, but that's probably just because it's so common and easy to access, both from a game-development perspective and from an invested art one. Another thought one of my friends had is that Glowstone might be uncorrupted Redstone, which... Actually kinda works, it's a crystal that gives off light, in this case it would be due to containing Inventionlight, which ties back into Potions. Glowstone boosts the potency of potions, while Redstone makes them last longer. Also, that would make Redstone Lamps related to sphere lanterns and that makes me happy for no particular reason. So what do you guys think? Did I miss any obvious Cosmere-like aspects of minecraft? Do you think I'm just crazy? Are Vexes just corrupted Allays which are basically just Windspren?
  14. So I had this theory just pop into my head as I was reading and it basically is this: Will Syl eventually choose to be enlightened by Sja-anat to better understand emotion? So far all the spren of Roshar have been of Honor and Cultivation and recently, some, touched by Odium. Odium is described as passion and emotion so it makes sense that his power would help sapient spren to better understand emotion, especially in humans. Syl has expressed a desire to better understand Kaladin and his emotions, even going to Dalinar for help. Would not then, she go to Sja-anat to become more than just of Honor and Cultivation? Maybe even Odium? We know that Odium is not going anywhere now and that he is now a part of Roshar so would it be wrong to assume that spren will start being influenced by his power? What are your guys thoughts on this? Am I completely wrong?
  15. TL;DR The Old Magic is reminiscent of Ashyn’s disease-based Magic. Ashyn Magic is the mysterious Voidbinding. As we all know the Old Magic is a “cousin” to Voidbinding and it’s “10 Levels”. OK no one but Khriss seems to know this. (WoK Ars arcanum) I think this helps us figure out what Voidbinding is and who was doing it. Old Magic is when Nightwatcher gives you something good, a Boon, and something bad, a Bane. Ashyn’s semi-canon Magic system is diseased-based. You can get something good, Magic, only if you have something bad, a disease. Brandon already confirmed they are related. Although one could always push back and say he meant “In any way”. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/390/#e12681 Why Call It Old Magic? Early humans on Roshar encountered the Nightwatcher and it reminded them of Ashyn magic because you have to get something bad in order to get something good. Odium made the Fused and humans aligned with Honor and Cultivation. As part of their effort to bury their history as the Voidbringers the humans would of course not refer to the Nightwatcher’s Boon/Bane as Voidbinding (both the Spren and Cultivation would not appreciate it. So they called it the Old Magic instead. 10 Levels? Yes, 10 because for all of the Roshar system except for Braize the “magic number” is 10. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/33/#e2745 Voidbinding was on Ashyn where Odium tempted a “Bondsmith” to experiment with the surges (per Syl in RoW interlude 1). Thus not limited to 9. Odium is trapped on Braize which is limited to 9. That’s why the Fused orders / surges are capped at 9. Binding? We associate binding with Honor and Honor was not on Ashyn. Why call it voidbinding? Well we know Dawnshards we’re involved with Ashyn’s destruction (OB ch. 38) and Rosharan history speaks of a Dawnshard that could “bind any creature voidish or mortal” (WoK ch 36) epigraph. Who did the voidbinding? The voidbringers of course! Using the Dawnshard that binds on Ashyn
  16. So I haven't really seen any pages talking about what people think will happen in the cosmere in the later eras, specifically the space/sci-fi. I recently just read a very interesting WOB that I believe is not canon but could show us Sanderson's plans or ideas for the future. (spoiled for length) (Underlined Bold is mine for most important parts) So long story short, Scadrial and Roshar seem to be in some sort of a conflict and both want control of the Avier. Their ship uses Allomancy to fly, and the Knight Radiant is a Skybreaker and has learned of a way to make a gun from their spren that can use an external ammo. What are your thoughts and predictions? Why would they be fighting, who do you think would win, etc. Also, do you think that their respective planets will be united or not? And will the other planets take sides or form their own factions?
  17. Sp3 seems like it could be set in the Nalthian system. Evidence: Planet names: Farkeeper the Bright Nightstar the Hidden Also: -Nalthis' magic system is heavily involved in art and music-things Virtuosity would likely be into as well -There is a Cognitive anomaly in the system. We have two other spots where the Cognitive is dangerous: Self and Threnody. In both cases a Shard died there. Perhaps Virtuosity splintering herself would result in less severe damage.
  18. Odium is hatred incarnate. Odium is passion. Odium is fervor, rage, divine wrath. And it's also unfathomable power, the power of a god. It's not going away. One way or another, odium is gonna be around at the end of the series. Now, there are of course a few ways you can make that fact less of a problem. The first is, of course, shattering Odium, like honor was shattered. I could certainly see that being the way this ends up being resolved. But there's another way to resolve this problem, too, and imo this resolution is a better fit for the themes of the stormlight archive. Someone takes up Odium who will channel it toward something good. Hatred and rage aren't inherently bad things. We like to think that hate is bad and love is good but in reality it's just not that simple. Love can cause you to excuse and overlook things you really shouldn't. To put up with abuse. And on the other hand, hatred can be justified. Sometimes, people do things that truly deserve to be hated, that the victim simply can't forgive them for. And sometimes, systems are built on the backs of people for whom hatred is a completely logical response. Systems like slavery, and dictatorships, and racism. And not even just hatred for the people on top of those systems (though not not for that either), but also for the systems themselves and the conditions that led to their creation. Odium can be channeled for good; for giving Passion to the downtrodden and oppressed. A force for change, a fuel to the fire within. Personally, I think someone taking up the power to use it for this purpose would be a more fitting resolution than simply shattering the power. Cause stormlight archive is a story about a war against odium, yes, but it's also a story about oppressive systems and the horrors they create. Shattering Odium may be a thematic ending to the first of these, but not to the second. Now, onto the question I know a lot of you have: Moash??? Yes, moash. Now, big disclaimer: This is something I'd expect to see at the end of his character arc (at least within this series- if he becomes a shard, we'll presumably be seeing him afterwards) which means he is absolutely not there yet. If he took up odium right now, it would not go well. But we still have one to six more books for him to evolve and grow. I see this coming after a long redemption arc. Stormlight is a series all about redemption and second chances, afterall. Right now, he's a character consumed by hatred, but I think a much more interesting resolution than learning to let go of that hatred is learning to channel it for something good. Cause honestly, he has all that hatred for a very good reason. And I think that Moash taking up Odium could be the force for change that roshar desparately needs. Now, there are other characters who could fill in this role as well. Chief among them, Kaladin. Kaladin has had very similar feelings as moash- they are narrative foils after all- and has every reason to personally hate oppression. He's currently in a much better emotional position to be able to do good with the power of odium than moash currently is. And at the end of Rhythm of War, we saw his eyes turn golden as he attacked the Pursuer, which is clearly setting up something, some kind of connection to odium, which means he might be in a good position to be able to take it up since you do have to be aligned with a shard in order to really hold onto it. I'll be honest, if Sanderson does go down the path of having someone take up Odium as a force for change, I fully expect it to be Kal. But I'm a moash girlie and in my heart of hearts I want it to be him, so here's my flimsy justification for why it should be. Kaladin's character arc has been more about leaving behind his hatred, and moving toward protecting people. Basically, he's been moving away from the parts of himself that are aligned with odium, while Moash has been running full force into them. And right now of course, that's really not going so well for himself or anyone around him. For Kaladin to be "odious" enough, his character would have to go backwards from where he is now to get him in a mental state more similar to the first book, whereas Moash could make forward progression and become a better person while still holding onto the odiousness that he has now. TL;DR Having someone take up Odium and channel the power to be a force for social change would be a good resolution to multiple plots, themes, and problems presented by the books, and moash's arc could take him to where he'd be in a good position to be that person.
  19. What do you believe or wish to be the Ferruchemical, Allomantic and/or Hemalurgical effect of the unknown divine metals?
  20. Compounding Copper is something not discussed in the Mistborn novels. All WoBs on the topic have been RAFO'd. So, I will propose a few theories I have created. 1. Compounding Copper fills in gaps The idea here is that Compounding Copper will fill in gaps that were lost. Little details you didn't give much importance, things you forgot before storing the memory, etc. 2. Compounding Copper continues the memory Basically, the memory is expanded upon. It adds stuff to the end and/or beginning. 3. Compounding Copper copies the memory You get the idea. 4. Some combo of the three above This one is simple. What if both 1 AND 2 were true? Or maybe all of them? There is not much proof for any of these theories, and nothing to back them up. It could be that none of these are true. I don't know.
  21. Been meaning to ask this to Brandon directly, but then I realized I could probably just post it here and get some great feedback! Does the process of Returning affect the subject's Identity (in the realmatic/investiture sense)? If, hypothetically, a feruchemist were to store something in a metalmind, then died and Returned, would they be still be able to tap that same metalmind? Or would their Identity have changed, making them essentially "unkeyed" from it? Similarly, if a Returned became a feruchemist and stored something, would that metalmind be inherently unkeyed?
  22. The thought came to mind after people were talking in another post if an aluminum mirror would reveal a lightweaver. And they mentioned how being able to look into the CR might reveal them with the discrepancies. Then I thought maybe not them but possibly reveal the spren. And who have we seen that can sense spren? That’s right mr unhappy zahal himself. So how can radiants counter such a measure. That’s easy, get rid of the spren. ok ok so it’s not like I’m saying break the bond or to somehow hemalurgy the spren for the abilities but simply leave the spren at home, in RoW kaladin and syl get separated and syl loses herself due to the distance between them. But once they are close she is right back to being herself. Kaladin is still awake, and able to use stormlight during the dampening of his abilities. So as far as we know this doesn’t hurt the spren just dumbs them down for a time, and it doesn’t matter for the radiant as they can still use their abilities. Now obviously they work better together than alone but in order to properly infiltrate some places they might have to separate, maybe the spren can go back to the CR to retain thoughts? As long as the bonds not broken it should be fine right?
  23. So... We have had Raboniel and Navani name the new combined light warlight, and that naming convention is unlikely to change. They could however, have an incomplete understanding of it's intent at this time, only revealed at the climax of either SL 5 or 10, with the formation of a new unified shard, who discovers the intent. I believe that Justice, or perhaps, Judgement Is a more fitting name for a combination of honor and odium. It is stated that Odium is dangerous because it is Adonalsium's divine rage, separated from the rules that gave it purpose, and meaning. I think that this is foreshadowing for the end of Stormlight. Honor is clearly about what is right, and odium is about destruction. Together, they might perhaps be the hard hand of justice. The rage of odium, channeled only at the unjust. This could play out interestingly, with perhaps altered skybreakers becoming the most attuned order to this new shard.
  24. From Way of Kings chapter 52 - Dalinar's vision of Recreance at Feverstone Keep So, where are all those deadeye Shardblades? At Feverstone Keep there was 300 Shardblades left by Radiants. But at the present times less then 100 are known, with some hidden one let's say 100 are accounted for. But during False Desolation thousands of Sprens answered the call and went to war bonding with humans. 2000 Honorsprens alone, potentially several thousands more of other Sprens. Where are all those Shardblades? At minimum there should be 200 more, at maximum thousands all scattered around Roshar. But only 100 are known. First let's establish correct number of how many Shardblades should be found. I think of 2 different approach to this: 1). Event at Feverstone Keep was in isolation and it was the only instance of Radiants leaving behind blades and armor. That means there is only 200 missing blades, much more reasonable number, potentially easy to "hide". All other Radients broke their bonds "silently" without Sprens materializing as blades, leaving only Deadeyes in Shadesmar. Exactly the same way as Shallan, she broke her bond with Testament's physical form not as a blade in hand, no Testament-shardblade materialized in that place as far as we know. But there is a catch. Shallan is still bonded with Testament as a Shardblade and was using it, and maybe even some parts of Nahel Bond remain allowing her accessing surgebinding (she's confirming it at the end of RoW). I can only assume, that if Shallan dies, Testament would materialized next to her body as a blade. Moreover no gem is placed in that blade like in other shardblades. So if all other Radients broke thier bonds the same way as Shallan, would it means that some remains of Nahel Bond were still present with them? Wouldn't it also resulted in leaving shardblades when they died? A solutions to it - it is also required for Sprens to break their bonds with humans the same way as Radients did it. At Recreance it happened both way, as Maya said they had chosen it. That way the bond is broken completely on both side, and resulted in Deadeyes left unbounded in Shadesmar. Shallan did not fully break her bond with Testament, as Testament did not do it. Shallan later begins reinforcing her bond with Testament with small steps, only so much to allow her some access to her powers and blade and maybe even starting to replace broken truth/oaths with new one (Soulcasting goblet to blood?). If this is not the case, then let's think about next approach. 2). All Radients broke their bonds the same way, leaving shards behind them, like in Feverstone Keep, or the way Shallan broke her bond is the same way Radients had done it before, and as they later died, shardblades materialized next to them. That would mean there should be thousands of shardblades left around. This fact alone makes me feel that this was not the case and I'm in favor of first approach as it also explains how to properly break Nahel Bond. But I think there might be another problem. Where are all the Deadeyes in Shadesmar? We have seen a few of them here and there, they are common enough to be seen during our heroes visit in Shadesmar. The biggest number of them we've seen is during Adolin trial in Honorsprens Fortress, days before it began Adolin witnessed 200 of them gathering outside of Lasting Integrity, and 20 dead Honorsprens already kept inside, possibly few more of other types. It is also highly probable that even more Deadeyes gathered till the day of trial, few dozens or maybe hundreds more, but not in thousands as that would probably be mentioned by someone. 100 of accounted Shardblades would probably not be present there as they would have been constantly summoned by their owners during Desolation time, so most of them were probably non-owned - number close to our missing 200, when Adolin saw them, be not even close to thousands of Deadeyes there should be. Is that enough of them in Shadesmar to add up to true number of Deadeyes? We don't know it. If it is, then vast majority of them did not care about trial or was too far away to get there on time. If not assuming almost every deadeye wanted to witness trial, but they could not get there - something/someone could restrict their movement, or they may exist only in form of blades in physical realm. So where could all of those Shardblades and Deadeyes be? Somewhere on Roshar, as carrying them out would be too hard and in last thousands of years since Recreance we would have seen them in another words. So let's think of a place suitable for hiding all of that treasure, isolated from most of the world, place with good protection form weather and unwanted eyes, guards that may know how to use them, people already in possession of similar but much rarer and more powerful Shardblades, people with abilities to collect all of them form all over the world, people that might even use them in the past in failed attempts to conquer Roshar, people who probably use one of them to replace a newly appeared Honorblade to a Shardblade. Yes of course I'm talking about Shinovar! They all probably in Shinovar as no other place would be as good as that. Shins don't respect warriors and treat them as slaves - which is perfect if you don't want to lose all of your Shardblades and keep bigger treasure safe - Honorblades. It also helps preventing someone from fighting with another Shardbearer as they all have to obey their master command. And we know Shins tried several times to invide rest of the Roshar - nation that doesn't even have a city (we don't know of any, no city is marked on the map or even mentioned) was capable of launching invasions that left deep scars in history - how? With Shardblades, and Honorblades and cavalry too! Or maybe all these invasions were just so Shins could gather every Shards they could? That's what Shardblades somehow disappeared? Depending on how Radients broke their bonds, it would mean that Shins are in possession of at minimum 200 Shardblades or at maximum thousands of them! If it's the latter, Shardblades may be kept in physical form rather than bonded to thousands of warriors - that would also explain relatively small number of Deadeyes in Shadesmar. Or maybe just imagine for fun, that only few Shins are bonded to thousands of Shardblades each - that would lead to very "funny" situation when if one of them dies of heart attack, suddenly all of his Shardblades would materialized next to him - I would not want to live in flat below his. However I think there isn't that many Shardblades, as only around 300 was left, and rest are just Deadeyes wandering somewhere in Shadesmar as explained in point 1 above. That would leave only 200 blades in hands of Shins - reasonable amount, which explains their early success during failed invasions, without strong warrior culture (success as it was not forgotten since then so they have to conquered something before they were driven back). As Adolin mentioned, shardbearers can't hold conquered land, Shins were doomed to fail due to low number of warriors each time. That would be another obstacle for coalition to obtain Shinovar and another one for Szeth, our favorite UnTruthless with our favorite Evil-Destroying-Friendly-Superweapon-Nimi. Not only he would have to deal with bearers of Honorblades but with hundreds of regular Shardbearers too. And reward also is increasing in this scenario, gaining 5 times more shards then currently in possession of coalition (40ish?) next to Honorblades which could be a significant help in war effort. Not to mention that those Shardblades might be soon back to life, bonded with new Radients as they return - or whatever is that what Adolin and Maya have. Or maybe all of this is not important as releasing BAM will fix everything so who cares where all of Shardblades and Deadeyes are right now? Well I care! It was fun theorising.
  25. So this post is more, what was each of the unmades purpose in the war effort, rather then if they are originally splinters of odium or honor or cultivation. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Unmade Is a link to the unmade coppermind For a refresher On each of the unmade. Ashertmarm the one that causes people to become gluttons. I think his purpose was to soften areas like kolinar weaken the leadership to make it easier to capture. I think that’s why leadership read “The Way of Kings” to be in a better position to bond a spren to be resistant to unmade influence. Ba-Ado-Mishram (BAM) as far as we know the smartest of the unmade with abilities to “connect” with the singers A commander in the war and possibly led the troops when odium couldn’t. I think the roll is now taken by the everstorm in a smaller capacity. Chemoarish nothing is known for certain Dai-Gonarthis Steals emotions. Especially guilt it seems Maybe to pacify conquer people. Or to make champions of people especially ones that have excessive guilt. Moelach Mr.death rattles This is the one I was thinking of that started this post. I think the death rattles were used to clog up the future vision for honor and/or cultivation. Possibly giving them information to manipulate them. Nergaoul The thrill possibly used to intensify the battles to unsettle the radiants who were immune to the effects. Re-shephir The midnight mother Most likely used to wipe out small towns as seen in Dalinar visions or maybe to handle battles where there wasn’t any radiants Sja-anat the corrupter/enlightener of spren most like used to turn spren to odiums side wile using them as scouts Yelig-nar Can do all 10 surges most likely an assassin creature or a champion used to turn the tide in battles. Seems like a one man army
