Throughout the books, we don't even know what the namesake of the series is... Is it the Gem Archive with the Crystal Pillar in it? But that doesn't have any Stormlight in it. Is it something off-world? Is it the place the Ghostbloods will be putting the stormlight to transport it off-world?

Hi,I'm not exactly a cosmere expert so what I might have overlook an important piece of information but I was thinking about implementing fabrials directly into a human body the other day. Basically my idea was to implement the design of the emotion bracelet unto the back of some guy but using brass as an encasing. So it would let him control his different emotions. But to do that the system would need to connect to his neural system,so I thought that it was impossible. Then I remembered a specific aspect of the emperor's soul, resealing. Resealer's are described as highly knowledgeable of the human body,and we also know that it extend to the brain because they manage to fix the head of a guy who got a shot in the head. So here's my question,could a resealer with the right fabrials create fabrial enhanced humans without having to take oaths? (PS:I'm sorry if some parts aren't clear,while I can read English I still have trouble with actually writing it ^^)

Lirin, love him or hate him, is of Honor: he keeps his oath to a fault. So is he going to get a spren? I hope so. What kind? Well, here's my controversial idea: Lirin will bond an honorspren and become a Windrunner, and this has already been foreshadowed. Hear me out. Kaladin became a surgeon, at least temporarily, without breaking his oaths to protect. Being a surgeon, Kaladin discovered, qualifies as protecting people. Although Kaladin realized that due to the circumstances would eventually need to fight to protect, for some time in Rhythm of War he was simply working as a surgeon, with no intention of ever violently protecting anyone ever again, and his bond with Syl was just fine, unlike the time he almost broke his oath by betraying Elhokar. But would Lirin be breaking his oath if he refused to violently protect someone when necessary? Unlikely. Radiant oaths/ideals are subject to the interpretation of each radiant and spren. This has been confirmed. And since Kaladin's Third Ideal was "I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right," we know that Windrunners don't have to protect when it is wrong to do so. If Lirin (and perhaps his spren) think violence is wrong, their interpretation of wrong-ness defines what breaks the ideals and what doesn't. It might even be enough for Lirin alone to think that he is keeping his oath, even if his spren disagrees. This is not yet clear. But does Lirin interpret his actions as protecting people through non-violent means? Or does he practice non-violence even though he thinks it means he can't protect people? Well, wasn't one of his reasons for avoiding war that when he fought back he got people killed? Getting people killed is the opposite of protecting them. I think he clearly thinks that he protects people specifically by refusing to be violent, and he probably also thinks he is protecting them by being a surgeon, as Kaladin did. Even if he doesn't use the word "protect" when thinking of surgery, surely the explicit use of that exact word isn't required there. Some may think Lirin wouldn't want to become a Windrunner. I agree. But it probably doesn't matter. Kaladin had no idea he was bonding Syl until it had already happened. Lirin could bond an honorspren without even realizing it. He might be deeply disturbed to discover he had formed a Windrunner bond. That is one reason I hope he bonds an honorspren. Such potential for drama! Lirin's potential feeling about the bond probably don't change the likelihood of the bond occurring. If he protects people as a matter of oath, he's suited to bond an honorspren, whether he thinks he is or not. He has only to think he is keeping his oaths to protect as long as it is right, not to think that being a Windrunner doesn't entail evil violence or killing your spren. Let's talk about the drama. Imagine Lirin being thrilled to discover his spren didn't die when he refused to kill someone. Or imagine Lirin recovering from the guilt of having caused Tien's death by fighting back, and therefore with a clean conscience killing a would-be murderer. Or imagine if Lirin started to understand he could kill to protect, but was undecided, made the wrong decision, and killed his spren. Imagine a desperate leader trying to force an unwilling Lirin to fight among the Windrunners, and Lirin fleeing, perhaps with Kaladin's help. Imagine Lirin trying to understand his bond and his oaths as Kaladin tried to help him. If Lirin bonded an oddball honorspren pacifist or an oddball honorspren who is just ornery and respects Lirins pacifism while other honorspren shy away, that spen could be a lot of fun to read about. Or if a normal honorspren bonded with him, respecting Lirin's honorable oath-keeping but disagreeing with his methods, imagine the arguments, the weirdness, and the tension. What if Lirin accidentally swore the first ideal while arguing with Kaladin or someone? You think you're so high and mighty, Knight Radiant? Well *I* put life before death, strength before weakness, and journey before destination! I think I always have! You don't get to claim that your better than us mortals because... Oh no. What is happening to me? And Lirin starts to glow.... And there's a reason I think he should be a Windrunner instead of a member of some other radiant order. It isn't just wishful thinking. The Windrunners' spren are honorspren. And like I said, Lirin is of Honor. Lirin is of Honor more than anyone else in on Roshar, because, no matter what the cost, he keeps his oaths. And that is what Honor, and I guess honorspren, values above all. And yes, this has been foreshadowed. Kaladin speculate that Syl could become a shardblade surgical instrument and suspect that the bond could be used in other ways if the radiants weren't constantly distracted by war. Obviously that applies to Kaladin, but also, potentially, to Lirin. And Kaladin's and Lirin's character arcs were clearly meant to be parallel, ending with their double baptism in the storm as they fell off the tower of Urithiru. That was where Kaladin swore the fourth ideal. Will Lirin swear his first?

What is Odium's metal called? Before it was Raysium, but now that there's a new vessel, Is it Taravangium? Odiumium?

Before I read the Stormlight archive books for the first time I saw or heard somewhere that WoR had the highest rating on Goodreads of any fantasy book. I loved the Way of Kings and was extremely hyped to get to WoR based on the reviews and love it was shown by fans. I loved it, but was also let down at the same time, and thought there were aspects of the story for me personally that mitigated the extreme positives of the book and I rated it 4 stars on Goodreads. This is completely up to personal taste, but I think either Way of Kings being the introduction to the world with a fantastic story in its own right or Oathbringer with expansion of the world and tighter character exploration with a fantastic story as well actually deserve better ratings (although I have a shared response to Oathbringer about the ending as I do Words of Radiance). I also think it is difficult to evaluate single books in the Stormlight archive versus books in completed classics like Wheel of Time, LOTR, Mistborn etc since we know where all those plot threads end. We all know that Rock's stew is a big part of being part of Bridge Four and it's mentioned that Bridge Seventeen has a signature bean curry. How can we get Brandon to give us a list of all the bridge crews and their signature dishes or, better yet, a cook book?

I just finished Warbreaker, and I read that Vasher is a world-hopper (known in Roshar as Zahel) and he came back because he was tired of sucking people's souls for a living. He can use stormlight as breaths instead. So is there a stormlight-breath ratio? I mean how much stormlight is one breath, and if there is a ratio, why didn't Vasher just sucked in a lot of stormlight and became 10th heightening instantly?

I remember someone saying that Roshar would be a convenient place for vegans with all their soulcast food. Of course that's not the case because, correct me if I'm wrong, soulcasters use gemhearts to soulcast the food and gemhearts come from animals. Their counter was that they could simply use spheres to soulcast the food. I don't recall it ever being mentioned that Rosharians would mine for gemstones or that mined gems on Roshar hold stormlight. So do all the gemstones in spheres come from gemhearts?

Last week I decided to buy all the Stormlight and Wax and Wayne books, all are the UK versions, when they came in I quickly noticed that my copy of Words of Radiance part 1 had a gold title while all the other Stormlight books had metallic red titles. At first I thought it was s**tty design and my OCD kicked in and it kinda annoyed me but I ultimately thought nothing of it. I started looking into it and I couldn't find any pictures online of a copy with a gold title like mine. I discussed it with a friend of mine, he got me into Brandon Sanderson's books, and we concluded that it must be my GOLDEN TICKET and now I get to go to Brandon's chocolate factory!... Nah it is probably just a weird printing error. At any rate it's kinda cool even if the title is a bit hard to read. What do guys and gals think?

So I'm a new reader to Sanderson's books and I've just finished Words of Radiance. And, I know, I should have read Warbreaker before WoR but come on! How could I possibly not read the book after that avalanche of an ending in TWoK. So now I'm ready for some more Stormlight Archive related books to get ready for Oathbringer and, like I said, I'm wondering if I should read Warbreaker or Edgedancer first. Maybe it doesn't matter at this point but I just want to know if I should wait a few days to get Warbreaker or just start Edgedancer right now (I already have it). And because I'm new here, Hello!

Has anyone thought to ask Brandon yet, what biological purpose do gemhearts serve? They're obviously not actually hearts, (blood-pumping organs,) so what do they do? Why do they grow within some greatshells?

My friend and DM recently picked up the first book of The Stormlight Chronicles, and loves the idea of adding a bit of the universe in our dimension-crawling D&D 5e campaign. We have a few basics down, and I have the first draft of a Windrunner subclass for a monk built, substituting ki for stormlight. However, some help for creating some of the creatures of this amazing world is greatly needed. I would love to create a mini D&D expansion book adding the world or Roshar to the Forgotten Realms. I would appreciate some advice from veteran dice-rollers, as I have just reached my first anniversary of tabletop games last month. I'm looking for people to help me with everything from chulls, to axehounds, and even a parshendi playable race able to change its subrace with enough time and an extreme jump boost. Plus, the act of receiving Shardplate or even a Shardblade could be very hard to balance damage and availability, then there's waying in how much stormlight you could suck from spheres of different costs... the possibilities make my head spin, and so I REALLY don't want to screw this up. If you want to help or even have additional ideas I didn't mention, reply below and I'll get back to you guys as soon as I can.

By the ending of WoR, I had a lot of favorite characters: Dalinar, Szeth, Kaladin, Adolin, Jasnah, and many more, but there was one character that stood out, and I think all of you agree when I say the Stick is the best character in Stormlight. Now, to the question, I am very intrigued by this character, and I just wanted to know if you would like for the Stick to become a main character in the series. If many of you say it's a good idea, I will make everything I can to suggest Brandon to make the Stick a main PoV character. (Please, do not take this seriously)

I have been wondering, if say, Kaladin touches the ground and infuses it ten times to lash it forward, would it cause an earthquake?

Hi everyone, I'm a recent fan of Brandon's work and I fell in love instantly. I will likely pick up Mistborn next but I was absolutely enthralled by The Stormlight Archive. I tore through both "The Way of Kings" and "Words of Radiance" in about two months, which is REALLY fast for me. I thoroughly loved everything about the series and I quite frankly can't shut up about the books, and I'm feeling like I'm missing something with the wait for "Oathbringer" (doesn't mean I'm not patient, just an excited fan). Anyway, just a little about myself, I'm a huge fantasy nerd and I think I came to the right place for a new set of books to read. I'll probably be lurking on some Stormlight threads for now but like I said, Mistborn is next so I will be on there soon I'm sure too.

It's not much to go on, but I still remember the section of the plate from WoA where he wrote: "Some of you may know of my fabled memory. It is true; I need not a Feruchemist's metalmind to memorize a sheet of words in an instant." There has to be a deeper explanation to this than the simple fact that he had an amazing memory. This is Brandon Sanderson we're talking about. This leads me to think that somehow, Kwaan was a Lightweaver. He has a mnemonic ability very similar to Shallan's, and it is mentioned in WoR that Lightweavers did, in fact, all have varied memorization skills. I'm not sure how solid this is, as this is the only section that got me thinking on it. Kwaan was a Worldbringer, a scholar, and as far as we know, not an artist. That breaks with the pattern somewhat. Does anyone else have another possible explanation? EDIT: Sorry, I probably should have posted this in the Mistborn section. Honest mistake.

Where exactly did Nale find an insect that extracts Stormlight from people? In the Lift interlude in WoR, he has it in his hand, and is described by Lift as like a cremling but with wings, which were bound along with its legs. What kind of creature is this and how does it factor into Surgebinding? How did Nale get his hands on it? EDIT: I now know that this is a Larkin.
