  1. So, would anybody be interested in this type of roleplay? I would mostly control the wild animal and natural elements, but players would control everything else. I at least would love to do this and anyone who wants to join us welcome to. I will make a PM to cover the finer details the poll can't cover, but we can likely start as soon as we get enough players. I will say that this will likely be a fairly dark roleplay, but I would like to keep the more mature themes to a minimum so that we can have a wider variety of players here.
  2. ***Spoilers for the Mistborn series, Words of Radiance, Wax and Wayne series, and Mistborn: Secret History.*** So my friend and I (who host a nerd podcast and talk about Branderson's work about once a month) have talked for a while about this theory: Kelsier is the missing shard. He is the shard Survival/ Immortatlity/ Endlessness or whatever Sanderson is going to call that aspect of god. When Adonalsium was shattered, Survival tore memories of him from the other shards AND FROM HIMSELF, then he hid himself on another invested planet to hide his powers should they manifest. He chose to hide with Preservation and Ruin because he knew they would be in conflict, and that would help hide him. Kelsier's survival is too continual. Life on the streets. Fighting the inquisitor. Literal DEATH at The Lord Ruler's hands (pun pun pun). The Well of Ascension. His final appearance at the end of The Bands of Mourning. PLUS: "There's always another secret." I mean COME ON. Sanderson loves to use the narration trope of "The Unreliable Narrator" (see Writing Excuses episode 13.45) or just look at EVERY TIME HE USED A CHARACTERS THOUGHTS OR WORDS TO CONVINCE YOU OF AN UNTRUTH. MY favorite example is Shallan Davar thinking [paraphrase] "They must have dragged Jasnah's body up onto the deck." I think most of us bought that as truth and were shocked when Jasnah appeared at the end of the book. Anyway, what do you think? is Survival/ immortality a shard? is that shard kelsier? is that Brandon's deepest secret? HIT ME WITH YOU FACTS AND THEORIES.
  3. Do other types of investiture suffer/benefit (depending on how you want to view it) from overuse of their powers similar to misting savants?
  4. Now that we have an idea about Kelsier's continued involvement in the cosmere, do you think he's the Vessel of the "survival shard?" Considering "survival" is so connected to his mission on Scadrial, it seems to make sense to me. The intent of the shard is related to survival, and the fact that it's hiding is only "tangibly" related to the intent. Hiding = There's always another secret? :-P EDIT: If this idea has been presented before, I apologize!
  5. SO! We know that Hoid is on Roshar, and he basically admits to Kaladin when they meet that he once held a Shard and presumably gave it up. We also know that Hoid definitely worldhops, and adapts to the culture and styles of every world he visits. We also know that Hoid is looking for someone on Roshar, but he spends most of his time hiding from him. Linking back to the Survival Shard that Sanderson alluded to, could it be possible that Hoid himself once held that Shard? Here's my complete thought, extrapolated from all of this information. Hoid got ahold of the Survival Shard, and because of its Intent, he spent a while running and hiding from Odium. After discovering that several Shards had been Splintered, he gave up the Survival Shard due to guilt, and now spends his time world hopping and trying to repair what damage he can, or at least learn as much about Odium and the other Shards as possible before confronting Rayse and trying to make up for his prior activities. Just some thoughts I figured I should voice, since this is the place for all that kind of thought.
