For a bonded, or an unbonded. I'm curious for either. Do you think the bonded understand morality? Do their understandings differ depending on what type of spren? (i.e. Syl is better at understanding right and wrong [and by default, human nature] than Pattern, who often expresses confusion as to the reasons for humans' actions.) Do the unbonded think at all? Or do they think in images? Can they communicate? How does it work in Shadesmar? (If I recall, Jasnah mentions something about the Honorspren being vigilante in Shadesmar. Does this mean that all Honorspren can be bonded, and therefore they have consciousness, even if they are NOT bonded?) UGH. So many questions. Brandon WHY?

So, I'm not sure what work has gone into this before, but I think it would be really cool if we as a community of fans, made a table-top game for the Stormlight Archive. It could be like D&D, it could be cards, involve dice, etc. But if there is already considerable work done, could someone please point me there? I tried a quick search of the site, and didn't find anything. Otherwise, This could be the place to bring together ideas and make something!

Anyone have a WoB on whether someone can level up on their Heightenings with Stormlight? Or do they need (can only use) breaths to level up? Yes, Stormlight and Breaths can be used interchangeably. But is there anything on whether you can have a sufficient amount of Stormlight to create a heightening jump. If yes, did Peter work out the math for this? If you need 200 breaths to get the the second heightening, how much Stormlight would you need? thanks!

Could a Seeker detect a Surgebinder holding Stormlight?
Quickbronze posted a question in Cosmere Q&A
An intriguing question. Seekers detect kinetic investiture, not innate investiture; for example, they can detect someone using Allomancy, but they can't detect whether someone is an Allomancer, so the obvious answer seems to be no. After all, if the Surgebinder is only holding it and not using it, it isn't very kinetic. However, it is constantly being consumed, strengthening the user, removing their need to breath, etc. and it is always draining out of them. What do you think? -

What if the Radiants didn't willingly break their oaths? They found out the truth about the voidbringers which was devastating. This truth created a conflict within them thus automatically breaking the oaths and killing the spren. They then give up their shards because they're dead rather than the spren dying because they gave up their blades.

[OB] SPOILERS There's been a pattern to the romance in the Cosmere novels. The protagonists marry the person who isn't the most powerful one to begin with but as the books progress they seem to get a power boost. Rather like the pawn on a chessboard that receives the power of a queen if it manages to cross to the opponent's side. Like Elend becoming Mistborn, Adolin on the verge of bringing Maya back to life and becoming a Radiant. Will Steris be the next to get powered up?

From the album: Stormlight Art of Carbonationspren
My depiction of Jezrien's Honorblade, based off of Howard Lyon's illustration in the back of Oathbringer. I added the Windrunner glyph and some Stormlight in the background. The image viewer makes it really small since it's in portrait orientation, so click on "More Sizes" in the top right to view the larger image. You can view a stripped-down 3D version of the blade on Sketchfab at https://skfb.ly/6uZ9s© Carbonationspren 2017 All Rights Reserved

This is the argument that Adolin makes a much better Stoneward than Edgedancer, and that it's possible he might actually become one. There's a lot of stuff to get through here, so I'll try to be concise. And yes, this theory addresses the fact that Adolin is already sort of bonded to Maya. I've already posted this idea on tumblr and reddit (with mixed reactions) and am now posting it here with some new arguments and evidence I've thought of since. Why not Edgedancer? Why Stoneward? How could this even happen? Seeing as Adolin is already bonded to Maya, a cultivationspren? Why would this even happen? Why would Brandon or any of the characters in the book want this to happen? That's it. Please tell me what you think.

So I created an account just so I could pose this questions to everyone. Be warned, Oathbringer spoilers here! ---- We now have scenes from Oathbringer (as well as WoB) demonstrating the use of one type of investiture to fuel a different off world sub-type of magic (ex. Szeth using stormlight to fuel Nightblood rather than breath). Now that Hoid is Knight Radiant in addition to a fully powered lerasium mistborn what sort of effect would stormlight have fueling allomancy? We see Kaladain receive a renewing supply of energy flying at the front of the everstorm and Szeth able to unleash the full effects of Nightblood without having to utilize biochromatic breath. Would stormlight act as a "metal supply" for Hoid? And if so, would it also potentially fuel him with an "atium reserve", possibly even a renewing one if he was near the everstorm? Conversely what sort of effect would metal vials have fueling surgebinding?

So, I was reading CH 122, and realized that I couldn't make sense of the idea that they had to walk to conserve Stormlight here. By my back-of-the-napkin calculations, they could have easily covered more ground with about 6 secs' worth of Stormlight than three days of very fast walking. Further, since they had already flown (fallen) most of the way, they would have needed even less to just keep falling for a few more seconds before Lashing back to the ground. Am I missing something here?

I picked up the Graphic Audio version of WoR to go with the copy of WoK that I already had, in preparation of the Oathbringer release, and I was just wondering if anyone has spotted any differences between the GA and standard versions? In Warbreaker there were breath commands that could be heard in the GA version that weren't specified in the text, is there anything like that that I should keep an eye out for?

Hi Guys, I dunno if this question had been asked before or if it was explained in the book which i missed somehow. My question is How do they push the Bridge across a 50-100 feet wide chasm? they don't have any support on other side of the chasm, they push only from one, so a bridge which is heavy enough that it takes minimum 25 men to lift it, wont it fall down the chasm once its halfway through the gap? Or since there is no one on the other side, won't it be easier for parshendi to just push it down the chasm once it is near their side? TWP

Has anyone ever noticed that Rosharan years are 500 days? I'm sure you have, so that brings up the question, how long do these storming people live? Kaladin is somewhere around 20 in TWoK and WoR. In earth years, that's approximately 27.4 years. What does this mean? Are days shorter on Roshar, compensating for the extra days? Or do people live much longer? If the life expectancy on Roshar is around what it is on earth, (let's say 80 years) Rosharan people would live to be 109.6 years old. That's an extra 30 years or life! Any ideas?

I think that fabrials’ use of Stormlight don’t make coldness (otherwise heating fabrials wouldn’t work and Soulcasters would cause instant frostbite), though Surgebinding does. This is supported by that one theory thread that involved a heckton of calculations—that Stormlight is an intravenous gas. Before remembering that thread, I thought for a second that Stormlight decreasing temperature when used is an allusion by Brandon to the fact that tropical storms take (both ‘need’ and ‘remove/consume’) heat to operate, and thus Stormlight usage results in a reduction of heat. Any thoughts on why it cools stuff down? (Not because Stormlight is awesome and thus cool; other puns are acceptable though)

During my WoR reread, I just found this. On page 727, where Kaladin is in prison, and Wit comes to tell the story of Fleet, he's sitting on a bench, tuning his lute (or some other stringed instrument) he says this, " 'Perfect pitch,' Wit said, 'makes this all so much easier than it once was.' " This seems to me to be a very subtle hint that Hoid has recently been to Nalthis and become an awakener. What do you think?

Just continuing my reread of Way of Kings, getting prepared for Oathbringer and I have came across an interesting death rattle. Now this is interesting considering that in chapter 18 of Edgedancer we find out that the Everstorm does not, in fact, have a stormwall. As far as I have read the death rattles are visions of the future granted by one of the Unmade. While some may be inaccurate due to the multiple possible futures, but I would imagine that the Everstorm would be a consistent phenomenon. So why then does a vision show the Everstorm with a stormwall but the actual one appears to not have one? Any ideas on this inconsistency?
