  1. I thought it was obvious but I cant find a WOB to support it.
  2. So, I was reading OB, and my most common thought reading it, was I just want Kaladin to be happy... And that got me thinking. If you could, what would you give the characters of Stormlight Archive. A horse for Kaladin, or maybe boots? A new sketch book for Shallan? Also, what would you want to be given to you from the characters?
  3. So, my mom just had her birthday and she got all the things she wanted. I thought, What would Kaladin want? So folks, what do you think the characters of Stormlight Archive would want for their birthdays? Also, what is the weirdest thing you got for your B-Day?
  4. I know there was a soundtrack made for WoK/Kaladin, and it was awesome. Can we expect more?
  5. For an English class I'm taking, I am doing a paper on the definition of the word "wit", which includes uses for the term. To this end, I want to include a description of the King's Wit in the Way of Kings as one of my sources. However, I do not have my own personal copy of the book. Could someone please post the description of the role (not of Wit, the job description), as well as the page number, chapter, and anything else I might need to appropriately cite the source? I would be very grateful for this assistance.
  6. This is a theory about Jasnah and why she was treated for mental illness. My theory is that when she was young, Ivory took an interest in her because we know that they have been bonded for a long time, and when other people noticed her talking to herself, she was sent to an insane asylum because she was continually talking to something invisible. She remains insecure about that for the rest of her life and occasionally will look back on that in fear because it was the only time that she couldn't trust her mind. That is why it s briefly mentioned in the books that there was a time that she couldn't trust her own mind, it was refering to that experience Edit: I'm not saying that seeing Ivory drove Jasnah crazy. I'm saying that when someone like her father caught her trying to have conversations with spren, they sent her away to a mental institution where she was told repeatedly that she couldn't trust herself, which drove her insane due to the terrible practices that insane asylum's probably did to her, due to the fact that we know that Roshar doesn't have a good understanding of mental illness because no one has diagnosed Kaladin with depression even though he clearly has it.
  7. I tried, but I couldn't find an article about this. At the end of OB, Moash goes behind the palace in Kholinar and kills an old drunk that we know to be Jezrien (If it's a different herald, I'm sorry) with a dagger that has a gemstone on the hilt. After stabbing the Herald through the heart, the gemstone begins glowing softly. When I first read this, my initial thoughts went to a WoB what stated that Hemalurgy in some form or another could be performed anywhere in the Cosmere. I believe that is what happened when Moash killed the Herald. Thoughts? Has this been confirmed?
  8. So I told my mom (who is also a Sanderfan) that she should attempt to make chouta. She replied with "first we need to know what ethnicity the Herdazians are based on." I guessed Hispanic from the descriptions, but I was wondering what y'all thought. Add your guesses for any of the kingdoms in Stormlight! A few of mine are: Herdazian: Hispanic or Greek Alethi: Roman Veden or Horneater: Irish
  9. This is my fanfiction I'm writing. It takes place around 13 years in the future. If you want to read it here is the link. (It's not finished. This is only a part of the first draft.) Anyway here's the link. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XPIiak-o9gJaPPhGaHdTc2AMHSh6_RKE6TEK49weknQ/edit?usp=sharing
  10. Okay so we know that Sja-anat can corrupt spren, with us first assuming she could just corrupt normal spren. Then we find out that she has already corrupted Glys and created a weird mixed investure KR. It's like whoa cool! But this has got me thinking. What else can she corrupt. I seem to remember OB saying something about how Sja-anat could corrupt humans, and we know that she can corrupt powerful spren. (Truthwatcher spren, and Oathgate Spren) But my question is does she corrupt spren, or just investure. Because if so could she make some Corrupted Honorblades? I want theories, but also cool ideas of Sja- corrupted investure. The second part does not have to confined to Roshar
  11. So I was browsing Arcanum when I came upon this little WoB: And immediately something stuck out to me (highlighted in blue) - Brandon says that he made it so that Shadesmar has air so that people wouldn't have to worry about bringing plants to get oxygen, or a Windrunner, or - wait. What? The way he says it, it sounds like (were it the case that Shadesmar had no air) a Windrunner would be helpful - if not absolutely crucial - in getting air into Shadesmar. This leads me to believe that, as they progress in the Oaths, Windrunners gain access to some sort of air/wind manipulation abilities; this seems to be supported by Kaladin's pressure bubble in Oathbringer. I'm curious to see how this could be applied by Kaladin, and other Windrunners, but I'm more curious to see if other orders have similar abilities not exactly related to their surges. Personally, assuming some (if not all) other orders have abilities we haven't seen yet, I like to think that the Skybreakers could summon lightning. It fits with their name (breaking....skies....), and would definitely be storming cool (yes, I will admit, I just want to see Szeth shoot lightning while dual-wielding Nightblood and his sprenblade). What do you think about this? Am I reading too much into this WoB? Do you think the orders could have abilities other than those strictly defined by their surges?
  12. Okay so in all the books, you never see Kaladin feel the effects of the thrill. All the other character viewpoints you see it (dalinar especially) but why doesn't Kaladin As a youth he probably didn't feel it because Moelach was in the shattered plains rather than bothering about Amarams domain. But what about when he gets to the shattered plains? There is nothing that says that a radiant can't feel the thrill. In fact we know by shallan's experience with the heart of revel that the KR can be affected by the unmade. Your Thoughts?
  13. Okay so when I was re-reading Oathbringer again I paused when I read Chapter 88 voices. In this chapter it's a flashback where dalinar is talking about how he needs to drink (the first chapter we see dalinar turns to spirits) and he eventually goes out to find a beggar named Ahu. Ahu is drinking and talking about the voices and how they are made. He seems to know a lot about how the spiritual aspect of the screams that dalinar (and szeth) hear. Then he mentions 4 of the unmade and says "Moelach is close. I can hear his wheezing, his scratching, his scraping at time like a rat breaking thourgh walls." Why the heck does this random beggar know so much. And why can he track and even hear where Moelach (the thrill) is? Is it just another mad man whose mind is more open to the cognitive realm as we see in MSH. Or is Ahu some kind of herald that was pausing in Kholinar. And if so which one. I'd love to hear you thoughts!
  14. We know it's hard for uses of investiture to have any effect on heavily invested objects or people - knowing this, I'm wondering if a mistborn burning atium would be able to predict the movements of a completely stormlight-full surgebinder. I don't really have any more to this, just a thought that came up.
  15. Branderbot 2000's newest novel features a love triangle for our sassy redheaded heroine. In this episode, she goes stepping out with a handsome prince in armour (refer to previous episode, Six Feet of Steel) who is not very smart but is pretty good at beating people up. Does she choose the mysterious shirtless bridgeman Kaladin? Or the well-heeled prince with sacks of spheres? It turns out the prince has mysteries of his own... ...like how he poops in Shardplate.
  16. K so hopefully nobody else has talked about this, (I'm not about to go looking through all of the posts about Elhokar in OB), because I don't want to look stupid. Anyways, I read the Stormlight Archive for the first time this last summer, and after reading all of Brandon's cosmere works, (+Skyward, Rithmatist, etc.), I decided to re-read Stormlight to better participate on here. While reading today, I found this, said by Elhokar... That description sounds an awful lot like pattern when Shallan first sees him in her drawings...If I'm right it means even before Elhokar starting to speak the oaths in OB, (even before any stuff with Wit or whatever that was I don't remember), we had foreshadowing/evidence in PART 4 of WoK, that Elhokar could become a Lightweaver. I really hope no one else has found this and I'm not waaaaaaaay late.
  17. Okay so this is pretty open ended, but while on the Who Do You Want Most Dead thread and the Am I The Only One That... I noticed that... People, including myself really hate Moash, and I think y'all need to vent because I'm seeing it every where. (Myself included...) So go, my friends, RANT.
  18. Hey guys. I saw a forum like this for characters in Mistborn. I changed it to Stormlight characters! Have fun!
  19. I started doing some fanart recently, so I thought I share also here Some Vin and Shallan I plan doing a more detailed fanart series some time, maybe even this year, but otherwise that was a pleasant warmup. Also some Overly Dramatic Kelsier (tumblr request) I also recorded painting those pieces, so I attach the youtube videos on a post below If you like my art, you might want to check Facebook / Tumblr / Instagram / Deviantart / Youtube, whichever suits you the most
  20. Sorry for the title, but I have a few misc. questions, and don't want to create a full topic for each one. If shardblades/honorblades cut the soul, and can kill spren, as seen in Oathbringer, why can't they perma-kill Fused, whereas Nightblood can? On Roshar's Cognitive Realm, we see soul-flames winking out on death, while on Scadrial, they hang around about while Preservation/Harmony talks to them. Is the reason for the Scadrial delay is because Preservation is reclaiming the extra investiture from the temporary cognitive shadow before they pass on? Does the fanbase have any solid theories about how Preservation imprisoned Ruin? I know Kelsier had a theory before it was shot down in Secret History. I guess Leras might have sacrificed his mind to cut off Ati's mind from the bulk of his power, and created Atium to leach Ruin's future-sight, but is there anything concrete? Has there been any indication if the Shards can be held collectively by multiple people, say 10? If so, would this increase the access to the infinite power over that held by one person?
  21. This is a interpretation from a ketek that was uttered before death. It evoked in me something of a mystery first and a reflection, second. Note that this interpretation is not a theory of sorts on the events of cosmere. I was thinking more of Shallan and my struggles when I wrote this and the feelings involved there. This is the link, if anyone's interested: Illuminating storms *I just had to post this because I feel like I had to.
  22. Already posted on the Reddit, but wanted to hear the ideas that people have on here too! In my Development Biology class, our final project is to make a presentation on our favorite humanoids, focusing specifically on 3 morphological differences between the humanoid and humans. I chose the Parshendi as the focus of my project - I want to talk about (1) their ability to grow carapace (when in Warform), (2) the red-black patterning that they have as skin, and (3) their gemhearts. I think I have a fair idea how and what I want to write about for the first 2 things (think of turtle/crab carapace development!), but I am a bit stumped on how to approach the third. Does anyone have any insight into how their gemhearts are formed? Also, anything about how they are born/develop that is in the books would also be appreciated!
  23. I have done so from the begining, but it increased even more when I read a tweet online asking Brandon if he was aware that he made Shallan sound bisexual with her crush on Jasnah, to which he replied that looking back on it, he did it subconciously, and that he was flattered/honored that there were people who saw this in her. I wish so much that it were canon between the two of them. I have read other fantasy novels where a writer would set a character up with another, only to have the relationship not work out, and have them shift to another that does. I wish so bad for that here in this series, to the point of being admittedly militant/irrational, lol! A girl can dream, right? Even though it may never happen, and I am stuck with Shallan/Adolin, I still wish there would come a time in the series that Shallan would throw caution to the wind, out herself to Jashah, and the two could unite together in heart and soul. If anyone can break the ice around jasnah's heart, I firmly believe Shallan can be the one. Please don't hate me....
  24. I'd like to choose this topic to be my introduction to the 17th shard. Out of all the cosmere novels, what particular book and particular quote did hit you truly? Like, you just stop and put the book on your chest because it feels too close to what you are experiencing at the moment?
  25. I wholeheartedly agree with this statement of Hoid. In that sense, Sanderson had been my favorite storyteller. He had broaden my mind and made me rethink my current perspectives of the world's workings especially when I read SA. Was there ever a point like that for you? Mine is certainly Jasnah's statement about the role of a woman. It is after reading the epigraph that I realize that it is truly absurd to even think that there is a certain "role" we must live up to. It is a refreshing persepective and certainly something that I want to adapt as my own.
