  1. A few sketches from recently! We need more Syl in uniform <3
  2. So, back in the recreance, all the knights radiant broke their oaths, and the spren of those knights became "dead" shardblades that roshar fought over for centuries. But not all radiants have shardblades. From everything we've seen, you have to be at least of the third ideal. So what about all those spren bonded to first and second ideal radiants? They couldn't have gotten off scott-free and survived because then the spren would know more about the recreance and why it happened which, as we saw in ROW, they don't. Did they become deadeyes too, that don't have an associated shardblade? Did they somehow become blades? Did things just work differently back then for some reason and all knights got shardblades?
  3. We got a ton of new stuff in Rhythm of War on the Oathpact, Desolations, and the Heralds and how that all works. So much so that we had to split this episode in two! So today we're talking about about the Oathpact and Desolations, as well as the Everstorm and Braize! Next episode we will delve into the Heralds. This episode we have Eric (Chaos), Ian (Weiry), David (Windrunner), Grace (thegatorgirl), and Evgeni (Argent)! No Stormlight 5 prologue or secret project spoilers in this episode. We actually did this episode (which we also had to split in two) in 2018, after Oathbringer came out. 4. So I had this theory just pop into my head as I was reading and it basically is this: Will Syl eventually choose to be enlightened by Sja-anat to better understand emotion? So far all the spren of Roshar have been of Honor and Cultivation and recently, some, touched by Odium. Odium is described as passion and emotion so it makes sense that his power would help sapient spren to better understand emotion, especially in humans. Syl has expressed a desire to better understand Kaladin and his emotions, even going to Dalinar for help. Would not then, she go to Sja-anat to become more than just of Honor and Cultivation? Maybe even Odium? We know that Odium is not going anywhere now and that he is now a part of Roshar so would it be wrong to assume that spren will start being influenced by his power? What are your guys thoughts on this? Am I completely wrong?

Adolin was such a badass in Ch. 35, though my fav scene is actually when he hopped on Gallant and rode with Maya XD (My new fav trio!)
  6. *Minor magic system spoilers for Stormlight Archive, no plot spoilers I've been re-reading Mistborn, and I'm curious whether feruchemical healing is fundamentally different from stormlight healing. Namely, if we ever saw a cross over between Metal-born and Radients, could a gold feruchemist heal an injury inflicted by a shardblade? Obviously feruchemy has to be stored fist, but assuming a feruchemist with infinite health storage, is the way they heal fundementaly different? Wayne mentions in passing that regrowing fingers is a pain in the but, but that means he can do it. This implies that gold healing can heal things that wouldn't normally heal with the passage of time. Healing in the Cosmere seems to be more that purely physical. In the real world, if you broke your arm and splint it incorrectly it could heal in the wrong position. This never happens in the books, implying that the power somehow knows what the "correct" position for everything is. I suspect that this is related to why shardblade wounds can be healed. My understanding is that shardblades sever the connection between your body and soul, but investiture healing is able to re-establish that connection. It is just difficult.
  7. Good Afternoon! Or evening or morning or night whichever is most applicable to you! Im new to this community! Relatively new to Brandon Sanderson as well, picked up AWOK last January and have been slowly devouring the Cosmere since then! Been watching some of the 17th Shard youtube videos and thought id sign up here! So thanks for having me!
  8. My dear German-speaking Stormlight fans!
  9. On a whim earlier today, I decided to see what might happen if I fed the opening lines of the prologue of WoK into a bot and watched what it came up with. Bizarrely, it seemed to have some idea of what the Stormlight Archive is, who some of the major characters are, and even concepts like bridge crews, lighteyes, spren, etc. It also managed to be marginally coherent, at least until the character limit ran out. Of course, being a bot, it has no idea of the context of anything, and so ended up producing a twisted funhouse mirror version of WoK where Kaladin and Bridge Four are trying to build a bridge under the not-so-watchful eye of a nameless king, while Kaladin is apparently pretending to be Sadeas's son for some completely inexplicable reason. Oh, and Szeth may be the Dragon Reborn, but I'm not entirely sure on that. The text I gave it was, of course, "Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a king." The bot I used was here:https://app.inferkit.com/demo As for the "story" itself, behold behind the cut! And yes, I know it cuts off in mid-sentence. That's part of the charm;).
  10. So, I don't know if this has been thought of before, but I have had a theory for some time that we will eventually see more orders of the Knight Radiants-or at least sub-orders. Let me explain-we know that surgebinding is a result of Honor and Cultivation and that worlds with a invested shard have a magic system based at least partly off of the shard. Odium has now started investing himself more and more into Roshar and we've seen the effects in the Fused and voidbinding. Renarin, has bonded a spren corrupted by Odium and has manifested new variations (hence the sub-orders) on the original truthwatcher abilities. He is still a truthwatcher in that he accesses the same surges, he just manifests them in new and different ways. What are your guys's thoughts on this? Do you think that we could see sub-orders of the original Radiant orders?
  11. So we know that Radiants are overwhelmed by the screams of the deadeye spren when touching a dead shardblade, and according to RoW Fused experience the same or something similar that makes it difficult for most of them to use dead shards. What I'm curious about is, do you think this is because they're both surgebinders, or is it simply a matter of being invested? Heralds, I expect, would also hear the screams, but what about other invested entities? Would a metalborn hear the screams? A Returned? What about someone who is not Returned but in possession of a lot of Breath? Elantrians? Would a Forger be invested enough to her the screams? What are your thoughts?
  12. In the pre-chapter text (can't remember what it's called) of the Rhythm of War chapter 'A Cage Without Bars,' Harmony says that he is looking for a sword that embodied the two aspects of the power he holds, Ruin and Preservation. In the previous pre-chapter text he mentions being hampered in his ability to act due to his two held Shards being opposites, so is it logical to think of this as Harmony seeking a champion to act on his behalf against/with other Shards? If so, I have a theory. I'm not sure if there's a running theory on this, but the main Cosmere character that comes to mind for that is Kaladin. He's trained/training as a surgeon and is a skilled fighter. Particularly in The Way of Kings, there was a constant internal dialogue about whether Kaladin or his father were correct in how they could protect: Kaladin choosing to protect using force while his father protects through medical care. Kaladin is currently in a spot where he can protect using both methods, acknowledging that he needs time to deal with his PTSD and depression but is enhancing his abilities in the medical area. The main barrier I see to this potentially occuring is that due to Kaladin's nahel bond with Syl he is anchored to the Rosharan system, as per Mraize's conversation with Shallan/Veil/Radiant in part 1 of Rhythm of War. Now this is entirely conjecture, but I am assuming that by the end of Book 5 several key things relevant to this will occur: a way of transporting Rosharan Lights to other systems will be discovered, which will be linked to finding a way for Connected individuals to move outside of their systems as well. While I don't believe Kaladin is intended on being a main character for the back 5 (correct me if I'm wrong), that doesn't necessarily mean that he won't still be a major player in another form like being a champion of a Shard that isn't "native" to the Rosharan system and is thus not present for Rosharan events all the time. If there is an existing theory thread regarding this, could someone please point me in its direction?
  13. Some people have theorized that some of our Radiants will replace the current Heralds and re-forge the Oathpact. If so, I have a disturbing suspicion: Kaladin will eventually become the only Herald who doesn't break (he might break during the next few Desolations, but not later), and the other new Heralds will eventually be tempted to pin the whole Oathpact on Kaladin, as the original Heralds pinned it on Taln. I know, Kaladin has tried to give up before, but that is because he is more tormented than most Radiants. He would go to Braize with a lot more experience bearing up under suffering than the others.
  14. I've begun writing a crossover wherein Ranma Saotome of Ranma 1/2 fame gets dropped—via a Magic Item of the Week in his universe—into the middle of a highstorm on the Shattered Plains. It's still early in the story, so there's not a ton of divergence yet, but hopefully you find it enjoyable. https://archiveofourown.org/works/38174626/chapters/95371264
  15. Hello. English isn't my native language. Actually i'm just learning so I hope I can explain my theory properly. According to my theory, somehow Odium will be released in the fifth book. And our characters will have to make a new oathpact for to save time. And it will be 5 new Heralds on the new oathpact. As for the starting point of my theory is the Kaladin's chapter gliph. There is 10 scratchs being erased and 5 spears on the Kaladin's chapter gliph. I think 10 scratchs being erased represent the old Herald and 5 spears represent the new Heralds. If my theory is true who do you think will be the new 5 Herald? I think they will be Kaladin (because it's his gliph), Jasnah, Lift (they will be main characters in Era 2) (I don't think Renarin will be), Adolin (Need someone non-Radiant), Shallan (I'm not sure. I added to fill in the blank)
  16. I am not sure if this has been asked before... It just popped into my mind and made me curious. Would the awakening command have a effect on the dead-eyes? Or would nothing happen?
  17. Renarin had fits before he bonded his spren. They were called seizures or epilogue, but Kaladin thought something about the description of Renarin’s “seizures” didn’t quite fit, and he wanted to know more. Iirc, Brandon said that Renarin is meant to have autism. Is it possible that Renarin’s fits were actually autistic meltdowns? This would fit with Roshar’s lack of psychiatric knowledge. Renarin stopped having his fits when he became a Radiant. It would be curious if Stormlight cures autistic meltdowns but not depression. I don’t recall any evidence that Renarin’s other symptoms have gone away. Maybe Brandon sees meltdowns as stemming from a physical problem but depression and autism itself not. Or maybe it’s like atium, which allows allomancers to process more information than before. If my understanding is correct, meltdowns result from sensory overload. Maybe Stormlight healing or some power specific to Truthwatchers allow Renarin to process more sensory input than before. What do you think?
  18. A few of my predictions for the remaining six Stormlight Archive books: Odium, Honor, and Cultivation will be re-shuffled. Honor is already shattered, so maybe parts of Honor will be taken up by the vessels of Odium and Cultivation, making War and Science. Or something else. In any case, I predict that they will in some way be re-combined. Lirin will become more important than he has been so far. TaravOdium will stick around, but if he doesn't (and maybe even if he does), Hoid will be significantly changed. Dalinar will be dead or enslaved to Odium before we get far into the back 5. Hoid's Trailman's Flute will play the pure tones of Roshar.
  19. Lirin ought to be an important character in future books. Rosharan humans’ Shard, Honor, is essentially the personification of oath keeping. He could have been about honor in a broader sense, but his Intent ended up being primarily about oaths. Of all the people on Roshar, which one’s character is most aligned with this Intent? Lirin’s. He is the most oath-keeping man on Roshar. He keep his oaths to a fault. If Lirin lived on a different world, that would just be one interesting attribute among many. But on Roshar, this should influence his Connection to certain forms of investiture, and give him credibility among the splinters beyond the credibility that people generally earn by integrity. As I have written elsewhere, I think there’s some foreshadowing that suggests he will bond an honorspren. If that happens, I suspect it will be unintentional. It also seems like surgeons are about to become more importantly to the plot, as Kaladin is about to need to find a cure for the Heralds and hopefully for other mentally ill people. This is likely to put surgeons and Heralds together. One of the Heralds said his madness could be temporarily alleviated if a Radiant swore an oath near him. It would be odd for Mr. Honor-able Lirin not to have attracted the attention of one of Honor’s spren yet, except for two things: Lirin is a pacifist and Radiants fight, and the honorspren were refusing to bond. However, Rhythm of War established that Windrunners can protect by being surgeons and that Syl’s old Radiant used to use her generally for non-violent protection (digging storm shelters, iirc), raised questions about how surgeons might use shardblades (as stethoscopes, Kaladin suggested), and saw the honorspren persuaded that they could resume bonding Radiants. But even if Lirin doesn’t become a Windrunner, we have a character who is all about Honor’s intent who’s in a profession that is suddenly relevant to the plot. Brandon has also made Lirin an interesting, three dimensional character already. We have the makings of a very important character here, possibly a main character. I like Lirin, and I will be frustrated if Lirin doesn’t get screen time while he’s at this major crossroads of theme and plot. #MoreLirin

Based on Rhythm of War Ch.15. It's my favorite sheet fight scene with Kaladin and Zahel's stunt though XD
  21. For first 5 Stormlight Archive titles to match the ketek poetic structure, the 5th book's title must be able to be abbreviated K. o. W. T. So what are some words that start with K, O, W, and T that you think are good potential title words?
