  1. I've been considering a Stormlight Archive tattoo (and a Mistborn one, but for now Stormlight Archive) and am running into a problem when I think of what I want. Dalinar's Oathbringer quotes really resonate with me - you know the ones (rise a better man, most important step, I will do better). My first thoughts were to get the Bondsmith Glyph and then to put a line of text above and/or below it. I would probably go with the "Always the next step" part of that quote or "I will do better" as they encompass the soul of the whole quote to me without being too wordy. The problem? I don't really identify as a Bondsmith. When I think about the orders and which one I would fit into there are many options but Bondsmith isn't really one of the ones that come to mind so I'm not sure I want a Bondsmith glyph. The only other thing I can really think of would be the Kholin glyph but I'm not sure what other ideas are out there. Thoughts?
  2. Alright, so, 1st post here, but something clicked in my mind and I wanted to know what you all think about it. Shallan is used to having multiple voices (Intents?) in her head, to find a common path among them. Would she be more ready than most other people to hold 2 shards with conflicting Intents? (or even 3, given the ones in Roshar and the fact that 3 were the main personalities she's had). Is it too far fetched to think that her psyche's situation could be foreshadowing/preparation for this possibility?
  3. We see Kaladin use the Reverse Lash to rip off the Pursuer's head after he reaches the fourth ideal in Rhythm of War. Is this something he could've done before the fourth ideal, if he had practiced the Reverse Lash more? He starts using the ability in creative ways due to lacking the ability to use the Basic Lash for most of Rhythm of War, and don't really see anyone use it besides Kaladin in the first book. I thought surges don't become more powerful as you make oaths, you just gain access to new ones and your Shardblade/Shardplate, plus becoming a better "container" for Stormlight.
  4. Ok so I was thinking about how awakening draws color from things, turning them gray, and shardblade wounds also turn things gray. I was also pondering how Nightblood leeches the color from people when they wield it. So I have a few questions on this topic and I am curious to hear what other people think. I have no idea if this is supposed to be a discussion or under questions (as I have multiple questions). A lot of this is probably theories only, and some of it may have already been discussed. First, how is the lack of colour related between the two (Awakening color-loss and Shardblade wounds)? Is it related at all? If a Lifeless is cut by a shardblade is it cut in one swing? Second, if Nightblood bled someone's hand gray could said hand be cut off in one swing from a shardblade? Third, how is colour related to the soul? Color is lost when the soul is disconnected by a shardblade, and why is this color-loss happening? Fourth, can people killed by shardblades be turned into Lifeless? Do shardblades need multiple swings to cut through awakened objects? If something was invested with enough breath (say Vasher's cloak but it is given more breath than necessary to protect him), would it block shardblades?
  5. So I was reading in the coppermind, bouncing around the Stormlight archives, when I noticed that under relatives for Kaladin, Gavinor is listed there. Can someone explain??!?
  6. So, i want all of your opinions on this matter. What do you think would happen if a Shardbearer attacked a Kandra? How do you think it would work?
  7. Can you join multiple orders or can you not bond more than one spren? And do the Ideals decrease the amount of Stormlight you use?
  8. What are these and how can they grant Hoid immortality?
  9. (New to the cosmere here). When determining the terms of the contest of champions, Odium says Hoid (Cephandrius) could’ve been a god but chose otherwise. Did 16 mortals kill Adolnasium to become the vessels of the shards we know today? Not specifically humans, but mortals, as Cultivation is a dragon. Then again, if dragons are mortal, why is Frost considered functionally immortal? Is it because he’s just really old?
  10. So I feel like that the storyline in Stormlighte is coming to an end but there’s like five more books so like are we getting a mistborn era 2 type of thing Stormlight archive Era 2 and if so is book 5 the end of era 1 does anyone know ?
  11. From the album: Shallan Davar

I hope you like my drawing of Shallan and pattern going unnoticed
  12. Please bear in mind it's been a few months since I read these books, and it's possible I've just forgotten something important--this question has been floating around my head for a while. Anyway, at the end of Oathbringer it's revealed that the Dawnsigners are actually Listeners/Parshendi right? And we know this because scholars were able to translate some old texts using the stuff Dalinar said in his visions as a guide. But this implies the Dawnchant is one language. If the Dawnsingers were writing about the humans coming to Roshar, they would obviously speak in their own language--probably something similar to the "ancient" that Leshwi and the other fused use. But then, can what Dalinar uses in the visions be the Dawnchant? Surely the humans had their own language at the time (maybe several languages) so it seems unlikely that everyone would speak the same language. Especially with the fact that the Dawnsingers used the rhythms, and the human people obviously could not. The humans would probably speak some version of what they used to speak before they came to Roshar. I realize its possible that they are speaking the same language, and the humans are just not using the rhythms (the way Rlain can speak in Alethi y'know?). But it seems unlikely that the language the Dawnsigners spoke before humans came to Roshar is the same language that humans spoke several thousands of years later during Dalinars visions. But somehow, scholars and ardents are able to translate one using the other as a key. So how can the Dawnchant be one langauge? Is it more than one? I hope this isn't too confusing, and I realize it's probably deep diving into speculation, but I'm curious if anyone can explain this or provide more info. (also pls keep in mind I haven't read RoW yet, if the answer is in there, just let me know and I'll find it as I read ^^)
  13. Hey everyone! As the title says, I have a music project called The Lost Radiants which makes music inspired by the Cosmere. In 2023, I decided to do my own Year of Sanderson by writing and releasing an original Cosmere song each month of the year. My January song, "Seven Swords", released today on all streaming platforms! This project is only a couple of months old, but was originally conceived after I wrote a song called "Bridge Four" back in 2017 while anxiously awaiting the publication of Oathbringer. You can also listen to that song on Spotify, Apple Music, etc! Outside of my original music, I've also gotten in the habit of releasing Cosmere "parody" covers on my Instagram and TikTok. So far, these include a reimagined version of "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus called "Broken Bridgeboy" and a version of "Wonderwall" by Oasis called "Stormwall". In the next week or so, I'll also be releasing a version of Olivia Rodrigo's "Traitor" about Moash. Here's a link to my Spotify page with Seven Swords: https://open.spotify.com/artist/27E7LH6I6rJH8I7y2rpB6T?si=m-1XYLk-TeyTWV9yCIjm_g My Instagram where you can find my cover songs: https://www.instagram.com/thelostradiants/
  14. I just recently finished my first Cosmere read through and have been obsessively watching every WOB online. At some point I thought I remembered Brandon saying something along the lines of “Lift will play a bigger roll in the future of the cosmere.” I love Lify as a character but can’t for the life of me figure out what makes her so special! is there anyone who knows more about this?
  15. So now we've had our first in book appearance of a Dragon in TotES and learned that various parts, horns, teeth etc are made of actual Dragonsteel do we think that if we ever see Cultivation in her Dragon form that her horns & teeth would appear as Dragonsteel or would they be made of her god metal (Koravalliumium??)? I'm not sure if we'd be able to tell unless we ever see her god metal but I think it would be a cool touch if we were to ever see her in Dragon form.
  16. "It is my solemn and important duty to bring happiness, light, and joy into your world when you're being a dour idiot." Happy New Year everyone!!
  17. So after rhythm of war, I saw theories floating around that godmetals were kind of like a supercharged versions of the normal metals. Atium, for example, was compared to Super-Electrum (this was before the atium retcon which throws a bit of a wrench into the info we know for comparison) and raysium with its investure-conductive properties might have been super-nicrosil or super-duralumin. After a certain fact in sp1 caught my attention with Lost Metal fresh in my mind, I want to revisit these theories. In sp1, tress uses an iron tool and a steel tool to manipulate aethergrowths- iron to attract it and steel to repel it. This of course is very similar to what we know of their effects in fabrials, as well as of course their allomantic effect. (And I'm just now realizing that iron feruchemy affects gravity, you're storing and tapping the physical pull of the world on you, though I think it does so through tapping/storing *mass* not gravitational force). This use of steel to repel investiture reminded me of something else- Trellium aka bavadinium. This particular comparison holds up nicely for the purposes of this theory, and I'm interested in the differences between how steel and trellium repel investiture. So of the known godmetals, do you think they're comparable to the allomantic metals?
  18. So the midnight aether mimics things, taking on their shape. This immediately brought to mind Re-Shephir, aka the Midnight Mother, who does exactly this. There's no way that's a coincidence, I think we can all agree. But the question is, is this just magic working by similar principals? Or was Re-Shephir made directly from something aetheric? Cause one of the prevailing theories is that the Unmade were unmade from being *something*.
  19. So, I've an idea for the timeline human arrival on Roshar to 1st desolation and further. Prior to human arrival, singer and spren lived in symbiotic relationship similar to Nahel bond but not exactly the same. The dawnsingers moulding stones in RoW are example of it. Spren used to get similar congenition in physical realn as radiant sprens get. Singers had similar powers to radiants but in an unchained and larger scale. (I think that's what void-bringing is unbound spren-singer power). When humans arrive, Roshar was remade slightly to make Shinovar and humans were said to not to move over. Humans being humans, did start expanding, specially given that we know Ishar was ambitious before madness took him, he would have trued to extend his reach. That's where Nale rose to power as someone who opposed Jezrian and Ishar in terms of expanding. When they start expanding, spren ask the singers to not use void-bringing on humans. That's they betrayal of singers and why they left singers. (Listeners and new singers think spren betrayed but Leshwi's reaction shows singers were the ones to betray.) In a desperate situation, singers force spren to use void-bringing and spren break off all access to singers. Odium takes benifit of this situation and offers to create the fused and give forms of power. He also turms some very powerful sprens into Unmades (That's the reason Leshwi's generation was the Fused generation. Her grandmother saw the coming of humans, her parents saw the first expansion and used void bringing. Leshwi's generation was complicit in the betrayal and then accepted Odium for survival. After the coming of fused and the heralds saw death at large scale at fused hands and are forced to create Oathpact. This desolation had the longest gap ( after this 4500 year gap from the last) and was marred with battles between singers and men but without spren supporting either side. Upon the next return of fused spren start forming Nahel bond suprising Honor and Heralds. (TWoK, Stormfathers mentions that they were surprised by occurence of Radiants). Urithiru was carved during this desolation.
  20. If a Kandra took the bones, carapace, and gemheart of a singer, would they be able to attune the rythms? What form would they take, dullform because their spren left the gemheart or does the spren stay and they take the shape the singer had right before they died? Are the rythms inherent to their Connection to Roshar (Odium with the new rythms), or are they connected to their organs and biology, so that a kandra could copy it? What do you think about this?
  21. From the album: Stormlight Archive Fan Works

I was to lazy to add colors but whatever I actually really like ivory even though I've read like 2 chapters with him in it
  22. From the album: General SA Art

This has been delayed for five years but I really wanted to draw Dalinar’s family in an alternative happy ending QAQ
  23. before I start I have only read Stormlight and mistborn so does aluminum work on Roshar The same way it works on Scadrial I think there’s reference to it in the books I don’t remember where but would a aluminum knife or weapon completely negate the powers of a radian is aluminum like a universal thing in the cosmere or is it only a mistborn thing I still don't understand investiture that much but does it have to do with that ?
