  1. I wanted to compile all the WoB from his signing Q&A's. Please feel free to add your signing questions to this thread or link to your thread and I'll try to keep this top post updated. I edited out non-WoR text to try and keep the length down, but I linked the original thread for those who want the full session. Also minor edits for spelling. Questions that came up a lot that I deleted to shorten this post: Midnight Signing http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6405-information-from-the-midnight-signing-spoilers/ Huntington Beach http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6497-word-of-brandon-from-huntington-beach-signing/ Seattle http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6583-adolin-Shardblades-skybreakers-wob-seattle-new-info-wor-spoilers-elantris-spoliers/ http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6593-seattle-signing/ Ness http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6579-seattle-signing-report/ JamHeretic http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6584-seattle-signing-orders-and-surges-confirmed-d/ Oregon http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6534-oregon-signing-march-2014/?p=107507 http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6421-the-nature-of-the-spiritual-realm/ San Diego http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6439-audio-from-the-san-diego-signing/ http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6523-hoid-drinking-at-the-fair-cosmere-implications/#entry106083 DefiantBurrito San Francisco http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6587-san-francisco-signing-audio/ Naranth Houston http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6743-brandons-answers-in-houston-311-signing/?p=110173 Scottsdale Omaha Sir Jerric http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6777-questions-for-omaha-signing-3-13-2014/page-3 Lexington http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6984-lexington-ky-signing/ Sirscott13 http://imgur.com/SvECwR9 One Dawnshard is different from the rest. 2. Alright guys, I went to the signing and have a good three and a half hours of audio. If anyone wants to transcript, be my guess. So. Asked a few things: First of, Warbreaker was written as a sort of prelude to the character of Zahel. Aluminum does not give an atium shadow (Whoo!) Nightblood is a Shardblade, that is super powerful and twisted. If Kelsier's Cognitive Shadow went to the Forests of Hell, he would be a shade. If Laras's Cognitive Shadow went, he would be a shade. If a Seon went, they would be a Shade. Will post audio when I figure out how.
  3. He RAFO'd me, which I expected, but he explained that the reason he had to RAFO it was because he doesn't want to build anticipation or expectations about the heralds yet, since they won't really be heavily featured until the 2nd set of 5 books. That's a paraphrase obviously, but it's the essence of what he was trying to convey.
  4. Shouldn't we start a question list to help people decide what to ask BS when they get their signed copy? (never been to a signing, I don't live in the USA if I make wrong assumption correct me, thanks)
  5. I have just over 2 hours of audio with people people getting their books signed & asking questions of Brandon. He was nice enough to let me leave my phone recording on his desk. It's about the only thing I managed to do right at the San Diego signing, after having to work late & arriving around 9pm (It started at 7). So it starts in the middle of people getting their books signed, and ends the very moment I'm about to talk to him, as that's when my phone's battery died. The store owner came outside to tell me it was saying low battery, and then let me go next as I had a lower number than the 50 or so that were still left (I wanted to be last so I could ask a bunch of questions without holding up people behind me, I only ended up asking 2 and didn't even get them recorded, though I thought it was still going). Anyway, I'd thought to transcribe the pertinent parts myself, but an apparently very fast reader totally spoiled a major thing for me about 20 minutes in and I had to stop listening to it. I saw from another thread you guys wanted the audio uploaded immediately to Soundcloud for this sort of thing (asking if people wanted to transcribe the questions, rather than wait for me to get around to it). That site limits you to 2 hours & my recording is longer than that. So I just uploaded it here instead. I'll still do it myself if no one gets to it by the time I finish WoR. Edit - The transcription is now complete thanks to Blackwood, who really stepped up. I didn't think it could possibly be done only 6 hours after my original post, but he did it! Here it is (Spoilers for Wor within): The San Diego Signing Transcript:
  6. The next signing will be in Houston in just three days. I'm just curious if there are any fellow 17s members who plan on attending. This will be my first Brandon signing event and I'd love to be able to meet some fellow sharders in person. I'll be passing out the comment cards for the tour scrapbook. Anyone who wants to help me distribute and collect them would be welcome.
  7. So.... Since there are a lot of 17th Sharders in Seattle, I think it would be fun if we do something fun at the signing this tour. Anyone else interested? I know that I am in and my friends Mel and Holly who will be attending are up for anything too. I am not an ideas person so the best I have come up with so far is to make posters like it is a sporting event or rock concert. I am very crafty though so if you have an idea, there is a good chance I can execute it. If you think posters are a good idea, what should the posters say? #1 FANDERSON!!! is one that I came up with. Brandon's writings have brought a lot of joy to my life and I just feel like I want to give something back in the way of making a signing different or more cool. Plus us Seattle fans have to represent, right?
  8. For the longest time I've only had the audiobook of The Way of Kings, so for my birthday I decided to get a signed copy. Since I heard that you could ask a question when you got it personalized I asked: "Is the Rear Endsheat about Cultivation's or Odium's magic system? Does it involve Fabrials, Gemhearts, or Voidbringers?" This was my response: For the record I don't think the current theory about it being Odium's system for Voidbringers is correct. I think that it is Cultivation's magic system, involving the use of gemhearts from certain greatshells to create the fabrials that replicate the various surges. Unfortunately, when I tried to make my question fit within the character limit on the personalization, I left the question a little to open ended. I'm trying to decided if this tells us anything new, so I'm posting it here for help. There is also a mark on the top of the book near the Interludes between Part 3 and 4, but I don't think that means anything. If Peter or Brandon reads this, I would like to say Thank You. I know asking for this right near the release of WoR couldn't have made things easier, so I really appreciate you taking the time to do this for me.
  9. Lo and behold, the week after spring break I actually had a bit of time where I wasn't doing homework to knock this one out in a couple of hours! Sit back, relax, and enjoy. As a side note, this is the last of the backlogged audio we have. The interview has been entered into the Interview Database.
  10. Going to a signing today. So. Questions to ask? Help me pick his brain!

  12. I just got back from the Houston signing at Murder by the Book. Brandon did two readings - one from AoL 2 (Wax and Steris discussing the wedding), and the prologue of Words of Radiance. Is the prologue been covered yet? If not, I'll summarize what I remember. Let me know. I asked Brandon about world hopping. Brandon said that not every magic system could be used for world hopping, but that there were methods of reaching every planet. He then qualified that some of the minor planets might only be accessible by space ship. I hope you find this as interesting as I did!
  13. I'm posting this on behalf of Herowannabe over on SteelMinistry.com, since I don't think he has an account here. He went to the signing tonight and asked some questions. Here's his post and I will copy-paste the text below: P.S. He also had some new info on the fact that objects can get "full" of Investiture, which he mentioned on reddit back during the AMA, but which I don't think we have noticed yet: Link
  14. Brandon apparently had signings and Q&A's and whatnot, but I can't find even the smallest tidbit of information from any of it. Was all information sucked into a black hole shortly after the convention, or is it just the sad case that no one on any fan websites or youtube posted anything?
