  1. Maybe it's just me, but I get a very different picture from what I've been reading on 17th shard about Nicrosil, and what I'm reading in the books. I think a few of us may have misunderstood what 'stores investiture' may actually mean... this is probably a function of our terminology more than anything else: From BoM kindle p.67, VanDell's lecture to Wax and the group: I would posit that (autocorrect keeps making me put necrosis herrings lol) Nicrosil Ferrings can't store and release what we generally refer to as investiture (Breaths, Stormlight, whatever), but instead, being one of the spiritual metals, you have the ability to narrow (store) and widen (withdraw) the cracks in your spirit web to allow you the potential to access more/less investiture safely at a time. In an unkeyed Nicrosil metalmind, this would effectually enhance the ability of someone who already had magic-potential, and possibly even create an ability where one didn't exist (I would personally put that more into Connection - duralumin, but I could see it either way). Please, when responding on this topic, due to the amount of conflicting opinion I've seen on the site, try to source WoB as much as possible. I'd love to get a proper understanding on Nicrosil Feruchemy (and the other Spiritual Feruchemy too). Thanks!
  2. Topic name: Storing non-powers Innate Investiture So, what we have seen done with nicrosil is only storing actual Metalborn powers. But we know that Spiritweb contains more Innate Investiture than just powers. First of all, Investiture makes humans sentient. Secondly, if you can steal it, you can store it: from Hemalurgy we know that much more is stealable: strength, senses, emotional stability, intelligence... Not to mention Paalm's chimaeras with what I guess to be animal attributes. I wonder what would happen if a Soulbearer were to store and later tap those parts of Spiritweb. It should be possible, however I can see it being more difficult to store than just powers. Discuss!
  3. So I read a WoB that Hemalurgy can be done by someone with right spiritual genes (perhaps there was something about Connection, too). If it's in spiritweb, it can be spiked. So you could spike out out of someone ability to use Hemalurgy or store it in nicrosil... The question is: what would having a stronger ability to do Hemalurgy actually do?
  4. So I don't know if anyone has discussed this possibility before, but the Bands of Mourning seem like they could be replicated relatively easily for an artifact of that magnitude of power Step 1. Create an exact physical copy of the bands Step 2. Compound Nicrosil and put the extra investiture into the new copy Step 3. Profit??
  5. So when a Feruchemist or Ferring stores an attribute they lose some of that attribute while actively storing e.g. losing sight while filling a tinmind or losing strength when filling a pewtermind. What happens when they store investiture in a nicrosilmind. Would they not lose some of the ability to store attributes and burn metals, if they are twinborn? Does this mean that there are differing levels of power for metalborn, are some more powerful than others (not as much of a difference as a lersium mistborn compared to a regular one but still)? Basically when filling a nicrosilmind does the metalborn lose some of their power for a bit and can they tap it later to get a surge of power a bit like duralumin but without the metals or stored power being used up instantly?
  6. Of all the base metals, only two have Feruchemical properties that are not yet well understood even by Terrismen as of AoL. These are nicrosil and aluminum. I would like to put forth my thoughts regarding them. This thread will be about nicrosil. Here's my thread about aluminum. According to the Coppermind Wiki, this is what we know about nicrosil Feruchemy: My theory is that nicrosil allows its user to store any Invested abilities. Not just Feruchemical or Allomantic abilities, but any human-level magic ability in the Cosmere. One could say that nicrosil Feruchemy is like the Feruchemical equivalent of duralumin Allomancy: it's useless when it's your only power, but can be useful when combined with other powers. Note that once a Soulbearer stores his single Invested ability (nicrosil Feruchemy) in a Nicrosilmind, he won't be able to get it back since his power to access his Nicrosilmind would be absent. Whoops. "So what's the use of storing abilities?" you might ask. At first glance, it doesn't seem to be useful even to full Feruchemists since there seems to be little sense in storing your own Feruchemical powers. It could be a way to strengthen a Twinborn's Allomantic power (e.g. make your Rioting stronger by spending time with just a fraction of your zinc Allomancy), but that still doesn't sound terribly exciting (especially for a Gnat Twinborn). But wait, we're forgetting the third Metallic Art: Hemalurgy. There are hundreds of hemalurgical spike points in the body, and it's possible that non-Scadrial powers can be stolen via Hemalurgy. But as we know, there are drawbacks: A Hemalurgical spike's charge grows weaker over time (unless you keep it in your body constantly). Any ability obtained from a spike disappears once the spike is removed. The smaller a spike is, the less charge it can have. It is probably not physically possible to place decent-sized spikes on all the bind points in a human body without tearing the body apart. Having lots of spikes in one's body makes one very conspicuous. What if all those drawbacks can be avoided? Let me present this scenario: Imagine a Feruchemist who understood the full potential of nicrosil. One day, he finds a treasure chest full of Hemalurgical spikes of all types that are already helpfully labelled (alright, that's quite unlikely; let's just say he used lots of Chromiumminds earlier that day ). Let's say he takes a bronze spike charged with gold Allomancy, and uses it to become a gold Compounder just like Miles. Then (and here's the important part), he stores his new gold Allomancy power in one of his Nicrosilminds. Why is this important? Because once he retrieves that power back by tapping the Nicrosilmind, the power no longer belongs to the spike; it now belongs to him. He can therefore remove the spike and still be a gold Compounder. He repeats the process using other spikes, healing his wounds as he discards each spike. Soon, he finds himself wielding all the powers of a Mistborn alongside his Feruchemy powers, and there's not a single spike in his body! He can use the same trick to obtain all the Invested abilities in Cosmere (well, Stormlight and Dor-based powers might be tricky to use while he's on Scadrial, but maybe Hoid could teach him world-hopping). He'd look just like a normal human being, but he'd be magical in ALL the Shardworlds. What do you guys think of that? Edit: After Kadrok informed me about how nicrosil Feruchemy is explained in MAG, I decided to incorporate that and my theory above into a larger theory: nicrosil Feruchemy can store any kind of Investiture: Invested abilities, contents of metalminds, Spiritual DNA, etc. Read all about it here.
  7. Rashek's Allomancy was incredibly powerful. Far more so then even Elend, a full Lerasium Mistborn. His latent Allomancy appeared more powerful than a Mistborn flaring duralumin, orders of magnitude stronger than Elend. It is likely that he gave himself a more powerful form of Allomancy at the well, but it seems most likely that this would simply be a scaled up version of a Lerasium Mistborn. But from how he's portrayed, he's orders of magnitude more powerful. Why is this? Is he flaring Duralumin the whole time? This is unlikely, as it would burn out his metals too quickly. So my theory? Rashek was compounding Investiture. I suspect that he was storing investiture in Nicrosil, burning it then storing vast amounts of Investiture from compounding. He would then be able to keep his investiture (like his age and his health) at a steady burn all the time he was out in public. Thoughts? (And if this was posted before, I'm sorry!)
  8. Hey guys, I know I'm new and all but I just couldn't help putting this up here since I found out that not many people seemed to get the Investiture Feruchemy idea and anyway I THINK I have a good idea of what it entails. Anyway, if it's wrong, just point it out because I'd really rather have you tell me what's wrong with the theory so that we can discuss it. Also, if this topic has already been opened somewhere, feel free to remove it (since I'm too much of a newbie to get how to do it anyway). Also, if you haven't read Bands of Mourning for some reason, you might want to refrain from reading the rest of the theory below because some passages WILL DEFINITELY SPOIL YOU SENSELESS. Investiture: Okay, I'd like to propose this. (Note that this theory is not in itself unique - chances are somebody else in the forums has already put forth something similar in nature to what I'm typing here, but since almost every other explanation I've come across in the matters are downright confusing, I'll be presenting a hopefully clearer explanation on the nature of Investiture and Identity). All Allomantic and Feruchemical abilities are a form of Investiture. Everybody knows this of course, but the matter is always interpreted differently. Well, my take on the nature of storing Investiture is that it is absolutely useless when a Soulbearer Ferring is the one storing it. The reason for this is because, ingrained into his Soulweb is only one kind of Investiture - that is storing Investiture itself. (Get it?) But when a Full Feruchemist is the one doing the storing process, things begin working differently. As I've said, all Allomantic and Feruchemical abilities are a form of Investiture - so when a Feruchemist actually does store said attribute, he is actually storing his ability TO STORE ONE OF THE OTHER FIFTEEN ATTRIBUTES. It's like this. A Feruchemist can store Heat within a brass metalmind. But if he has a piece of nicrosil with him, he can instead store within the nicrosil metalmind his ability to STORE HEAT. Having imparted the Investiture of Heat upon the nicrosilmind, for a time being, the Feruchemist loses the ability to store Heat until he taps it again. By itself this ability is useless, that is until the Feruchemist uses this ability in conjunction with aluminum to bypass Identity (more on this later). So the concept behind storing Investiture is that it can transform a non-ferring or non-allomancer (if the Feruchemist in question also happens to be a Mistborn, a Twinborn, or somebody in possession of a Hemalurgical spike) temporarily into a Metalborn of the specific Investiture stored. Using the example I gave above, by tapping the nicrosilmind, for a time being you become a Firesoul! Note: I also think it's possible to store more than one form of Investiture into a nicrosil metalmind, but based on accounts in the book there are also certain complications in doing so. Said account can be read underneath if you'd like. Identity: Now unto that pesky thing we call Identity. Contrary to sources outside the actual books, Identity does not store your physical sense of being, rather that of your spirit's. This means that storing Identity does not actually make you feel like you're parting with anything, because how in the world can your physical senses actually feel that you are parting with a spiritual attribute? That's beyond their range (hence the reason why storing Identity made aluminum Ferrings feel like they were just as useless as aluminum Mistings - even if they were storing something, they had no idea they were actually doing ANYTHING). It's not like speed, where storing it causes you to grow slow, or mental speed, which makes you feel dull and slow-witted during active storage, no, Identity is such an abstract concept that it is beyond comprehension. Ignoring how aluminum Ferrings even began to understand the implications of this ability (unless Harmony clued them in), one cannot help but wonder how they ever got to the point of actually doing something useful with the ability by the time the events of Bands of Mourning occured. For the same reason nicrosil Ferrings are useless on their own, storing Identity is only ever useful for a person with Full Feruchemical powers. You store Identity on an aluminum metalmind (your soul thus becoming something akin to a mirror), then you store Investiture on a nicrosil metalmind. (Pick a power.... any power...) If you simply store Investiture on a nicrosil mentalmind without first rendering yourself completely identity-less, there's still no point to the ability because by the end, only you can still tap the stored Investiture. An example of this can be seen in Bands of Mourning (SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK!) “You think us gods?” Allik said, shaking his head. “You see that? The one you hold? It is very complicated. It is stored with the ability to give yourself a sliver of holiness.” “Investiture,” Waxillium said. “This inner ring is nicrosil. You tap it, and it grants you Investiture —turning you into a temporary Feruchemist who has the ability to fill a metalmind with weight.” He held up the medallion. “The iron on this is for convenience, right? You can fill it, but so long as you’re tapping the Investiture, you could touch any source of iron and turn it into a metalmind.” “You know much about this, Mysterious One,” Allik said. “You are wise and—” “I learn quickly,” Waxillium said, glancing at Marasi. She nodded for him to continue. This was fascinating … but the Metallic Arts was not one of her areas of expertise. Waxillium had a passion for it though. “What’s this other ring built into the medallion?” “That grants the warmth,” Allik said. “It is a grand combination—two attributes, from separate rings. Took us long to make these work, yah? The one I wear now, also grants two. Weight and Connection. I’ve seen medallions with three. Twice in my life only. Every attempt at four has failed.*” So let's review, kay? The amulet Waxillium was holding had three parts: 1.) An outer-ring of Brass 2.) An inner-ring of Nicrosil 3.) A circle of Iron on the middle So the Nicrosilring had two attributes stored inside - namely Skimmer Investiture and Firesoul Investiture. If I had to hazard a guess, the Nicrosilring had been stored with Investiture while the Full Feruchemist in question had no Identity. When Allik held it, since it had no Identity, he could tap on the Nicrosilring's Investiture becoming a temporary Skimmer and Firesoul along with his pre-existing power. The ring of Brass and circle of Iron though were there because even if you had the ring of Nicrosil in there, you couldn't actually use it to store weight or heat - only the capacity to do so. So you tap Nicrosil, then store heat into the Brass ring and weight into the Iron circle. *Theoretically, it's also possible to store more than two forms of Investiture into a nicrosil metalmind, as evidenced by the passage up above, but the same passage also gives us this tidbit: “So wear multiple medallions,” Waxillium said. “Strap thirty-two to your body, and have all the abilities.” “I’m sorry, great Wise One,” Allik said. “You are obviously very knowledgeable about this, and know things that none of us would ever think to try. How could we be so foolish as to not realize that we could simply—” “Shut it,” Waxillium growled. Allik flinched. “Doesn’t work?” Waxillium asked. Allik shook his head. “They interfere with each other.” “So to create one with multiple powers…” “You must be very skilled,” Allik said. “More skilled than any who has lived among us. Or…” He chuckled. “Or you’d have to have all the powers, rather than adding yours to the medallion, then passing it to another to have it added to! If that were the case, you’d be a great god indeed. As powerful as the Sovereign.” If you were a Nicrosil Twinborn, I also think it's possible for you to store your Allomantic Investiture into the nicrosilmind - but if you can't get rid of your spiritual identity, you still can't make just about anybody into a Misting. =) So guys, what do you think? Hope it wasn't too long for my first ever theory (clarification, explanation, whatever). I hope it also made sense to you people.
  9. So I don't know if anyone else has already mentioned this, but I think the biggest (or at least most widely applicable) implication of how Nicrosil Feruchemy appears to work concerns Twinborn with Nicrosil as their Feruchemical metal, rather than all that fiddly Fullborn stuff. Nicrosil Feruchemy appears to let you store your powers the way any other non-Copper attribute could be stored: your ability is diminished in the short term while you're storing, but returns once you're not storing. The reason I would suggest that it doesn't work like Copper is that otherwise it wouldn't make sense that the Southerners can produce useful tools like the medallions in any decent quantity; if they had to permanently burn out spiked Soulbearers to make finite medallion charge you'd think they'd just use Hemalurgy and be done with it - more direct, and permanent. So, Nicrosil works like non-Copper Feruchemy with no permanent loss one storing is ceased. We also know that if you mess around with Identity as well you can make it so anyone can tap your stored power and use it. But I'm far more interested in what you could do without Identity shenanigans, because given what we know and what we have seen, there is no reason to think Nicrosil Feruchemy doesn't work the way any other (non-Copper) Feruchemy works, allowing you to store something (in this case your powers) and then tap them to temporarily enhance yourself later. This means that a Coinshot/Soulbearer Twinborn could store their ability to use Steel Allomancy, becoming a weaker Coinshot while they were storing, but gaining the ability to temporarily become a stronger Coinshot later. If you stored enough, who knows... maybe you could do what the Lord Ruler did and push on glass! This phenomenally changes the balance of power, because it makes Twinborn with Nicrosil as their Feruchemy potential Allomantic powerhouses (but for just their metal, obviously)! Tap your Seeking and hear the thrum of Harmony's power! Tap your Oracle powers and see your future in greater detail or see further into your future! The temporary ability to enhance your powers puts me in mind of Duralumin or Nicrosil Feruchemy Allomancy... only way better! (I apologise if someone has already posted this, I do try to look over the other recent posts to make sure I'm not being redundant)
  10. As some of you might know, I formulated a theory a few days ago about Atium. It was basically a conspiracy theory, and was destroyed quite skillfully by Phantom and Voidus, among others. I abandoned that theory and thought a bit until I came upon another idea about Atium, and it led to a general theory about the God Metals. This new theory was inspired by Isomere's theory of Shard-Metal correlation, as well as the following quote from the newly Shardified Sazed in HoA: This quote implies that almost everything on Scadrial, including the metals and the people, contain Ruin and Preservation. Atium is an exception, containing only Ruin. The quote implies that Lerasium is another exception, containing only Preservation. Before yesterday, I've always imagined Atium and Lerasium as "magic metals," not really thinking about their molecular structure, and assuming that they just work. But I realize now that I might have underestimated Brandon a bit. Brandon had said that the metals on Scadrial all have physical properties identical to those of their real life counterparts (e.g. they are also made of atoms and molecules, follow basically similar physical laws, etc.). Brandon also said that the molecular structure of the metal influences the kind of Investiture that happens from tapping, burning, or impaling with it. So, if the molecular structure of the metal is important, that means Atium and Lerasium also have a molecular structure, because they can also be used in the Metallic Arts. This means the God Metals are also made of atoms, and that these atoms also follow physical laws (at least when not being burned). We already have knowledge of the physical and molecular structures of more than 100 chemical elements. After a certain point, the heavier an atom becomes the less stable it is, so we'll have to assume that Atium and Lerasium's constituent atoms must have atomic numbers below the very unstable heavy elements in the Periodic Table. This is the first part of my theory: Atium and Lerasium are just different names for two "real life" metals or metal alloys. But how do we determine which of the many metals in the Periodic Table, or the innumerable amount of possible metal alloys, is Atium? And which is Lerasium? Isn't that an impossible task without Brandon's help? Well, Brandon did give us a clue: The molecular structure is important. This implies the following: Two Allomantic metals containing similar atoms and similar structure would have similar powers. (This explains why a base metal's power is similar to that of its alloy.) Atium only has Ruin in it, so we can assume that if we had the exact same metal as Atium but without the imbalance (i.e. if it had both Ruin and Preservation in it), it would have a power that is almost the same as Atium, except changed in a way to account for Preservation's presence. This might manifest in a change in direction (for example, Internal to External), or something like that. Same goes for Lerasium. So, think of the effects of Atium Allomancy. Is there a known Allomantic metal with the same effect, except inverted somehow? Why, yes there is a metal just like that: Electrum. Atium is electrum without Preservation. Atium is Ruin's Electrum. How about Lerasium? Well, Isomere links Preservation to aluminum, and it seems like any of the Enhancement metals could fit, but I think nicrosil fits better due to the following reasons: Nicrosil is an alloy, just like electrum. Nicrosil and Lerasium exhibits the Others/Self inversion that we are looking for. Nicrosil's Allomantic effects mirrors Lerasium in that they both grant enormous Investiture to their target. So, Lerasium is nicrosil without Ruin. Lerasium is Preservation's Nicrosil. I would also like to talk about the God Metal alloys. We know that Malatium Allomancy works just like gold, except inverted, so Malatium is gold without Preservation. From this, we can form another theory: Atium's alloys also have no Preservation in them. Or to make it more general: Alloying a God Metal with a base metal removes the other god from that metal as well. This has some very, very interesting implications: Atium-Electrum is just Atium (because electrum without Preservation is already Atium). Lerasium-Nicrosil is just Lerasium (for the same reason as above). You will not become a Nicroburst Misting by burning an alloy of Nicrosil and Lerasium. You'll become Mistborn. Nicrobust Mistings are born, not made (well, not made by Allomancy; they could still be made by Hemalurgy). A Mistborn bloodline will have to be diluted by having children with non-Allomancers before a Nicroburst could naturally appear. This makes me wonder if it's just coincidence that the next Mistborn trilogy will feature a Nicrobust Misting. Edit: Phantom kindly reminded me that Lerasium is green. This leads me to theorize that the removal of Ruin from nicrosil has a side-effect of oxidizing the metal, leading to the green color.
  11. I don't know about any of you guys, but I always thought that the fact that so little has been said about the effects feruchemical powers of nicrosil was intriguing, combined with the fact that it mentions the word "investiture", which I saw as a goldmine of hidden fun. So I was reading through the rulebook for the Mistborn Adventure Game, and I came to the section where it talks about nicrosil, and to my surprise, it had a whole bunch of information on it, that you can't find anywhere else. Presumably to make it usable in-game, so I suddenly had a brainwave and wrote a crap-ton about the potential powers of feruchemical nicrosil on the actual wiki page, but most of it is speculation, so in case of its potential erase, here is what I wrote: Although the feruchemical uses and effects of nicrosil have not been canonically explained outside of the appendices in the books, the rulebook for the mistborn adventure game states that nicrosil can be used to convert stored feruchemical attributes into a generic form of investiture that can then be drawn upon to augment any feruchemical attribute. For example, if a feruchemist has stored up a lot of warmth but suddenly finds himself in need of some extra health, he can convert some of his excess warmth into generic investiture (which is shifted into his nicrosilmind), and can then draw upon the investiture as if it were health stored in a goldmind. The limitation being that he needs to have access to all three feruchemical abilities and their respective metals, this means that a simple nicrosil ferring is incapable of performing such a feat. However, the rulebook also states that any power gained from an external source, such as an allomantic duralumin or nicrosil boost, or even power gained from the well of ascension or the mists could be stored in a nicrosilmind for later use. This means that a feruchemists who travelled to other worlds could gain access to extra investiture. For example, feruchemist on Roshar could potentially store the investiture provided by highstorms in the same way that Returned can consume it in lieu of breath. Despite what can be inferred due to previously established rules on investiture, (such as all investiture being considered fundamentally identical) due to a lack of evidence, it can only be speculated that investiture stored in a nicrosilmind could be used to fuel other magic systems. For example, a twinborn using his feruchemically-stored investiture to power his allomantic ability, instead of having to burn a metal. Or even the reverse: a twinborn burning his metal, but storing the power in his nicrosilmind for later use, instead of gaining the immediate effect. --- Now I know it is a lot to guess at, and we dont know how much we can trust what the tabletop game has to say about nicrosil, but I honestly think that this really fits with what we know about investiture throughout the cosmere. Anyway, if you guys have anything to add, or discuss, I'd love to hear it!
  12. Ok first off there are a couple of different theories flying around the 17th shard right now that I’m almost positive that I haven’t seen them all or if I have I haven’t read them all the way through so If I’ve come up with the same idea as someone else I’m sorry. Now the Mistborn adventure game says that Soulbearer Ferrings store their deepest inner parts in their metalminds most of us here on the 17th shard have assumed that this means they can store their innate Investiture in their metal minds. My theory is about what they do with the Investiture once it’s been stored. Now to start we know that humans on Scadrial have Investiture from both Ruin and Preservation, this means that they have two separate sources of Investiture that they can store. My idea is that once the Investiture has been stored in a metalmind it can be taped and used in its pure state. Using Preservations Investiture would allow the Ferring to become a sort of temporary Mistborn but they don’t need any metals to act as the catalyst for Allomancy, they can tap into preservations power directly. See quote from the coppermind (important parts underlined) (Please note that I think that there is another way access preservation) But this comes at a cost, a Ferring only has so much innate Investiture and once it’s gone they either die as they accidentally store the spark of life or they turn into a supper destructive monster as they’ve run out of Preservations Investiture and are now left with only Ruins. Compounders might be able to get around this problem since they can burn Nicrosil Allomaticly using Preservation’s Investiture in order to create a near infinite supply for themselves (or they could just be able to boost other Allomancers see Twinborn bellow). On a more open note I have no idea what they would do with ruin’s Investiture other than store it and then throw away the metalminds to prevent their ever shrinking soul from going out of balance. Although they could store Investiture from both ruin and preservation in the same metalmind which would allow them to use Feruchemy, for example taping a Nicrosil metalmind and then using the investiture to say become stronger (in place of storing strength). For Twinborn I think that they could store whatever type of Allomatic powers they had. For example a steel/Nicrosil Twinborn could burn steel Allomaticly then store it in his metalminds instead of pushing on something. Later on if he ever runs out of steel he could just tap Nicrosil and start spraying coins. This wouldn’t grant any neat compounding effects, it would just let the Twinborn access his Allomancy in a different way. (Note that I don’t have any real proof for this part it just seemed like an effective way of balancing the abilities out instead of having every Twinborn with Nicrosil become as powerful as a Mistborn, which isn't something I can see Brandon doing). Other than the ability to use steel differently the Nicrosil Ferring would still be able to store and tap his or her Innate Investiture at will. Well that's the theory I hope you've enjoyed my mad ramblings and I acknowledge that most of this is guesswork and probably not true but I've given a lot of thought to this and I wanted to post it anyway. Now let the mad theory's commence.

    Nicrosil

This is one of the metals that I created with Adobe Photoshop. I took a bunch of .png files and put them into Photoshop, then used a lot of different techniques, blurs, noise, and such to create these. I hope you all like them. I am not sure if I need a disclaimer, but I don't own anything.
  14. How would a Nicrosil Ferring or "Soulburst" manage to fill his or her metalminds? As a Ferring, they have no ability to store any other metal's attributes yes? And Investiture (the quality that is stored and tapped in Nicrosil) is not a human trait, but pure magic in the Cosmere. A full Feruchemist can simple drain one of his other metals' metalminds to convert that stored power into Investiture to fill a nicrosil mind. a twinborn with nicrosil feruchemical powers could store power as it is released from his allomantic 'burning.' But a Ferring, only able to store or tap 1 metal would have no other source of investiture to draw upon to store in a metal mind. or would a meditation techinaque allow them to draw in investiture spiritually and funnel pure investiture into their metalmind? Just things i think about lol. Any thoughts?
  15. Now to preface this, let me name potential problems with this. 1) I have no clue how exaclty storing Investure works. For this to work you have to be able to use it to relocate the investure from one metalmind to the other. If any of you know whether or not this is how Nicrosil operates feel free to enlighten me. 2) For this to work complex memories have to be "worth" more Investure than simpler ones. 3) A Feruchemist/his metalminds would most likely not be capable of dealing with this much investure at once. On to the theory. If you can relocate Investure from your coppermind into the nicrosil mind you could take an unimportant memory, for example that there is a piece of paper on the table, store it and then relocate it. Afterwards you would notice the piece of paper on the table and repete the proces as often as you want to fill you nicrosilmind. (Say this creates Investure at a rate of 1 Investureunit (I) per second (s),) The next step would be to replace the piece of paper with something more detailed, lets say a painting, which hopefully creates more investure. (~100 I/s) Tapping Zinc would allow you to memorize the picture faster, speding up the copper/nicrsil combi. Depending on the proportion of used up zinc to the win from copper there might be a net gain. (100 I/s*2-50I/s= 150I/s) More Investure leads to more Zinc, which in turn leads to faster copper-gain, which leads to more Investure and so on. Addmidetly, even if all needed assumptions are in facte true, we would still need a field-test to prove this but this was on my mind so I thought I might as well share it.
