  1. Hey my friends, do we have any information what the new novella is about?
  2. Hello! I just joined this forum right now I'm reading Words of Radiance
  3. I just joined and admittedly haven't even had time to peek at most of the book-related discussions here, but thought introductions sounded like a good place to start... lol I'm Becky, I'm from Denver, I <3 Brandon Sanderson's novels, I'm divorced, my 6 yr old son lives with me full time, and I'm an INFP (google it lol) so I tend to be kind of a nerdy introvert and love getting lost in the cosmere that Sanderson has created. I'd love to meet some people who share the same passion as I have for these stories and characters. Some of my favorites so far: - Mistborn Series (I preferred the original series over the Wax and Wayne series -- I just don't feel as emotionally connected to the new characters... although I had the same problem with getting into the Fear the Walking Dead characters too, so maybe it's just me. lol) - Stormlight Archive (I love EVERYTHING about this series and cannot wait for Book 3!!!!) - Elantris (I love this as a stand-alone book... I kinda feel like everything I "needed" resolution for as a reader happened by the end of the book, so I'm not sure how I feel about a possible sequel... and I had a really hard time getting into The Emperor's Soul as an Elantris a la carte story... but that might only be because of my aforementioned "new characters" issue haha... so I guess I probably would have enjoyed it more if I viewed it as it's own stand alone story.) - Warbreaker (I wish I hadn't listened to the audiobook version of this one, but overall loved the storyline and I'm hoping for a sequel... with the same characters!! lol) Anyway -- Now that I've rambled on and on, I'll get to my point: Hi! lol
  4. Greetings from the Tardis. And Camelot. And the back of the Impala that suspiciously has wifi. And from the Argo ll. Yeah... So! As you can see, I come from all over the interweb. Places wide and far, mostly tv shows of course. Then one day at Barnes and Noble, I saw a giant book. This huge paperback. It was the start of summer so I figured I should read something big, a challenge. So I picked it up, read the back. Was instantly slightly confused. Read the prologue, still confused. So I put it back, thinking to find another book. A few seconds after that, my mom tells me that time's up, we have to go, you better have a book by now. I, of course, had no book.I ran back, grabbed the huge paperback, and brought it up, having conveniently forgotten the five dollar limit. I still manage to get it. Somehow, the paperback ends up on the shelf, left unread until school when I need to read. Three weeks later, I finish it, and I'm begging my mom to go back for the sequel. Three days after that, I get the sequel. Two days after that, I'm done with it and scouring the interweb for any trace of Stormlight Archive. And here I am. So, hello. I have a question though, do we have a fan name?
  5. Hello I exist. I'm excited for new material from Sanderson to be released. Recently read Warbreaker. I finished the original Mistborn trilogy earlier this year and am up to date on Stormlight. Would be open to advice on what to read next. Really just thrilled to be a part of something that will keep me posted on Stormlight 3. I'm like a addict who needs a fix, man! Robert
  6. So I got a nice little bowl to paint, and so I painted it - Mistborn style! Basically, what I did is but on the grey/black background, then I added the mists, which were two layers of gray, and lastly, I put on either 3 or 4 (I think it was 4) layers of some type of red or orange for the iron symbol. I have some pics here! Tell me if you like it!
  7. Hey! I'm new to this forum, though I've been reading on it for a little while. My name is Herman Fassett and Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author. Sorry for my cheesy username... My favorite book of his is Words of Radiance. I like all of his other books too (I've read almost all of them), but the Stormlight Archive, most especially Words of Radiance, is just amazing. I've always wanted to create fan art. But I'm terrible at drawing. I can however sort of write music, so you may see some songs from me in the Creator's Corner soon. Actually, I'm working on one right now that follows Shallan's life We'll see how it turns out. Anyway, glad to join finally, and I know I'll have a good time.
  8. Hi eeveryone. I'm Aidulin, and I just read a Brandon Sanderson book for the first time. I'm hooked, I think. The one I read was The Rithmatist, and there's only one so far in that series, so I was wondering which series you guys think I should read next? I know you'll all have ideas, but I want to get to know this fanbase a little better.
  9. Hello! It is probably best to start off by associating my name with walls of text, so I shall tell you my story. I am a voracious reader who accidentally stumbled across Way of Kings while living in a tent in the middle of the jungle in early 2011 (seriously). I had broken my kindle (and the 4,000 plus books I'd brought to read on it) three days into a six-month expedition so I was scrounging around for anything to read and by some weird fluke, someone had picked it up in the airport and it was one of only a handful books in camp. And it was epic, awesome, and I probably read it twenty times or more in that six months. (And also the Time Traveler's wife, The Hunger Games, Born to Run, some David Sedaris book, The Field Guide to African Mammals, and the Old Testament, because that was what we had). Honestly, I probably would have just read TWoK over and over except other people wanted to read it too, and took way, way longer than me! After I came home, I added to my "must read" list, which is about a thousand books/authors long, and decided I'd wait to pass complete judgement til the second book because said list is so gigantic. Somewhere up above it on that list was Wheel of Time, which I accidentally timed perfectly and started right after the last book came out.....and never noticed that the author was the same as someone else on that giant list. Until I came back around to Brandon Sanderson sitting on my to-read list a month or so later. And then of course, I did some searching, found everything else, realized the books had to be interconnected (thank you, Hoid), began lurking, and have now read every published thing he has. Unluckily, none of my friends or acquaintances or coworkers are major readers, so my interactions thus far have been limited with lurking, my giant compilation of WoB and personal wiki on my laptop, and rereads. I've been hesitant to dive into the fandom because I'm so frequently without internet for long periods of time, but I've decided I can no longer continue talking to only myself about the Cosmere (Note to self:I am uncertain about this 17th Shard group, but I will attempt to gain more information. What if I find out I do not agree with their motives?? I like Hoid!) and still maintain the pretext that I am sane, so here I am, on this forum that I swear exists inside a black hole along with that dwarf galaxy. I also don't like cookies, even in real life, so you can forget your nefarious plans, and anyone caught tampering with my Dr Pepper will be executed. Fortunately, it conveniently comes in aluminum cans that I have further magically protected against tampering. My favorite book is Words of Radiance, with Warbreaker being a close second. I overuse parenthesis, I'm sorry. I'm going to join Feather in the Renarin love/defense club, so beware. Jasnah is my favorite, because I can relate to her the most. There, that shouldn't leave much of anything open for question! I'm excited to finally be able to talk about things without getting the "you're crazy" looks I'm so accustomed to. *I swear I posted this when I first got here, but apparently the Ghana internet spren pulled it into the cognitive realm, as it has been doing with many of my posts (and worse, occasionally spitting them back out several hours, and therefore posters, after I submit them) *sigh* My apologies for the delay if you've seen me elsewhere. ~Shlee
  10. I LOVE Sanderson. I've read every one of his books and I just DEVOUR them. I can go through any one of his books in less than 3 days. And yes, that does include the Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. I love love love love love Brandon Sanderson and think he is a genius. He is, without a doubt, my favorite author and I have introduced about a dozen people to his works. I'm looking forward to getting to know this community better, and I hope we have a lot in common
  11. Hello everybody I'm new to the forum. It took a couple of tries, but I finally got past whatever was stopping me from creating a profile. I started reading Brandon Sanderson's books in 2013. So far, I've covered all the Mistborn, Stormlight, Wheel of Time, and Reckoners books. I've read some of the shorter stories like Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell, Sixth of the Dusk, and Mitosis. I'm currently reading Firefight, and I hope to read Elantris and Warbreaker at some point this year, as well as the next two parts in the Wax and Wayne series. I'm looking forward to getting to know the community better. Cheers!
  12. I'm new. I'm here. I like stating the obvious and Brandon's books. I also really, really, like Mike 'n Ikes. I cried when I discovered that everyone got to pick a display name before I got here. I hope to post a lot and edit the wiki more. Be nice to me. Friend me. Give me status points. Mention my incisive commentary over and over again.
  13. Hi everyone! I am a somewhat new Brandon Sanderson fan, I have only read "Mistborn" and "The Well of Ascension" and loved them both! I can't wait to move on to The Hero of Ages, but I think I've already decided Sanderson is my favorite author! I have already bought Elantris, and The Way of Kings and will most likely stick to the Cosmere books. And that's another thing that fascinates me about Sanderson, the Cosmere. I can't wait to read more of his books so I can understand it better!
  14. So i just joined 17th shard and i have a few questions. What books your favorite? Mine are Words of radiance and Alloy of Law. Was the map easter egg in The way of kings ever solved?
  15. Hello. I am Jabberwocky42. I have read most of Sanderson's books, including Alcatraz books. I'm just as frustrated as the rest of you all that there probably won't be a fifth for years. I consider myself something of an expert on what is known of the Cosmere, having read and tried to help improve the Coppermind. This page seems like fun, so here I am. A little bit about me, I am a musician. I play guitar and piano and love to compose. I am a lover of quality books, which is why I am here. I also like religions. I am a member of the LDS church, but like to learn of everyone's religions. I believe that they all have truth in them. Any questions?
  16. Okay. So naturally being part of the 17thshard I am a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson. However I am always on the lookout for new things from other authors The Criteria I'm looking for 1. Light to Medium-light on grim and grit. Not really a huge fan of depressing fantasy 2. Little in the way of gratuitous sex and violence. Anyone got any suggestions? Already Read: WOT Patrick Rothfuss (Name of the Wind + Wise Man's Fear) Ian Irvine's various series Discworld
  17. been a fan of Brandon Sanderson's work for AGES now but I was just introduced to 17 shard. my hobbies include. being overwhelmed trying to draw spren. collecting colours to help my on my way a lifeless army of giant pink ants and surge binding peoples hats to the sky. hoping to not be crushed under fan bases like on most fan-sites as well as making friends who can help me obsess over BranSan. yours faintly- Surgebound Rainspren
  18. I read my first Branderson book about a year ago, but it was only recently that I really got into Cosmere theorizing. I am hoping to go through the books again with pencil in hand and pull out as much information as I can about the Cosmere itself and the Magic therein. Happy to be part of a community of people who love these books as much as I do (probably more )
  19. Hello everybody, As etiquette demands, and that is a good thing, here is a short introduction of myself. My name is Mark. I live, work and otherwise procrastinate in my home town of Vlaardingen. (Which is located in The Netherlands, but you guys all knew that of course! I'm a happily married man and we have a gem of a daughter called: Wies. (what roughly translates as: Wise) My daily business is checking, repairing and otherwise manage dental problems. In other words i'm a dentist. I work in as general practitioner and as a special care dentist (for people with a disability) All books of Brandon are on the digital shelf. My favorite book is still Elantris, because of the world and the fantastic magic system. The work of Brandon on the Wheel of Time series was great. Personally I hope that Brandon will continue to write novels in het WoT universe. (but that is up to him and of course Harriet) (ed. R. Jordans wife) Well enough about myself. Thank you for reading this and I hope to meet some of you, or all, in a topic! Cheers!
  20. Hi everybody I will call myself Swimmingly Like greeting a gnome
