  1. I can be a bit short and cranky at times ...as can we all I suppose...but now I have a great excuse ( that no one I know will understand but it will be funny to see their reaction) I will say I just used my superpowers and that makes me cranky!!!
  2. I was wondering what would happen if Megan was evil. Core Possibility 5: Setting similar to Book 1; but instead of being a reluctant Epic, Megan is a High Epic in all her glory. She would have the proficiency with her powers she attained at the end of Book 3 and also be a fearless self-reincarnation Prime Invciciblity. I would be surprised if "Firefight" wasn't ruling Newcago with Steelheart as her right hand Core Possibility 6: Calamity left after creating Epics, thus no weaknesses. However, Steelheart not Blaine got the power, and Megan and Nightwielder still transformed Newcago.
  3. I realized that Megan doesn't have an Epic name. Firefight is the Epic from another dimension, so she has no Epic name. I propose Phoenix. Thoughts?
  4. I kind of wrote this in two separate sittings rather far apart, but hopefully it won't seem too choppy. The song's from West Side Story; this is set between Steelheart and Firefight, so there are the natural spoilers for the former. I have other, non-Sanderson fic on FFN, if you'd like to check me out there: https://www.fanfiction.net/~mirieltolkien I'd love if you dropped by! =)
  5. A piece of utter insanity inspired by a private conversation and by Disney's Frozen. Major spoilers for Firefight follow. Starring Megan as the singer during the climax of the book. * opening music plays * The flames burn bright 'round my body tonight I'm being burned alive. Prof's gone way off the deep end And it's doubtful I'll survive. Regalia planned this, though I'm not sure how or why If I'd been shot instead, I wouldn't have to die... Adjust the aim, point the gun at me David's rifle will let me beat this heat I'm really glad it's remote con-trolled... Well here I gooooo! Let it go! Let it go! Not burning up in that smog! Let it go! Let it go! I'm dead but not for long! I don't care If I go insane The assassination failed... Death never stopped me long anyway. It's funny how some distance Makes everything seem small And the fear that nearly killed me Can't get to me at all! It's time I went on the attack To defeat Phaedrus and turn him back David won't get squished tonight... Time to fight! Let it go! Let it go! I am one with Time and Light! Let it go! Let it go! I rise as Firefight! Prof can't fight My time-changing light Let his force fields fall! My power twists the very laws of time and space! My soul shines outwards, lighting up the terror on Prof's face! And one thought shines through me, this one thought is clear I'm never going back; Tonight I feel no fear! Let it go! Let it go! Phaedrus lifts off and flies Let it go! Let it go! David hasn't died! Here we are Safe in Babilar I will feel no fear... Death can't stop Firefight anyway.
  6. Myself as Prof and Callie (not sure if she is a member) as Megan, from Salt Lake Comic Con 2014
  7. In Firefight there was something cut from Obliteration to make the bomb that almost destroyed Babylar. I was wondering if all Epics had this thing that could be used to manipulate their powers. If so, we could have made a teleportation device from Sourcefield, or a shield generator from Prof. Or a reality generator from Megan. Since Megan's powers show different realities and can bring objects from other realities into ours (her clothes when she is reborn at the end of the book), I wonder if her powers can be taken to create a device that can manipulate reality. This could basically give you the ability to know what will happen. Maybe in another reality a heist by the good guys goes off ten minutes sooner and looking into that reality the bad guys get wind of the plan with the reality machine and are able to foil it. I am not sure if this is at all feasible, but I think it could potentially be a plot point. Since Megan's powers are more than the standard illusions created by other Epics, I am inclined to think that Brandon has more in store than her resurrections. Her reality will have some part to play in the next book, I think. Any thoughts from the masses on this?
  8. So i have been reading multiple theory's about the world of Steelheart and i wove a few of the ideas together to make a single concept. Please let me know what you think: Most of this is pure speculation and after a few days of forum digging...collecting the best theory's. Much like David my analogies leave something ot be desired...take with a grain of salt. Epics: Candidates: People with great hubris or pride. Saw themselves better than others...apart..unique...but suddenly lose everything...triggering a fight or flight demand of Calamity. Trigger: Humans were gifted powers when they had a "Great need" for something. The need had to be so great that they were willing to give away everything (their soul/spirit/sense of self?) to gain the powers. Primary Powers: A solution to their "Great Need" Secondary Powers: A direct correlation to your skepticism. Secondary powers usually balanced or enhanced your primary powers. Imagine you and a friend making up a superhero. Non skeptics would just want 1 or 2 powers. Skeptics would be like "Sure...im invincible...but what if someone is far away (laser blasts)...well what if i need to get around fast (Flight)...well what if Bla bla bla. (This concept plays into weaknesses and steel heart and pride later on). Strengths: Situations where their most powerful. These are always situations/feelings from their past as a mortal when they felt their strongest. Weaknesses: Your darkest insecurity...internal weakness or fear. Often observed as an object or situation...in reality it's a state of mind that weakens the epic. Situations/feeling from their mortal past when they felt weakest. Overview- Basically all powers and weaknesses seem to be a direct feed into the psyche or mentality of the one gifted. Why Do we get powers?: Calamity itself is an epic/original epic/ source point to unlimited power. Calamity itself has discovered that using the powers brings out the worst in you and corrupts you, so calamity is trying to "Gift away" its powers to try and restore its own sense of self. basically : Calamity gives you your deepest desire for selfish reasons, but it can only give them to you if you want it bad enough and are willing to soil to do it. Note about powers: Powers are fluid...they gain in Strength as your confident and wane when you feel weak. (ex: Steel heart is the most confident and most indestructible when its Epic vs. Epic. Other epics lose to him or seem to have weaker powers when they fear him...or feel weaker. Additional example...there is no reason death point shouldn't have been able to kill steel heart except steel heart came in with so much bravado...it made death point question his power. )(3rd Ex: Tensors were "fake/smokescreen" and really just gifted powers to the team. Davids powers stopped working during the conflux heist because the professor was insecure about being able to protect his team...so his gift weakened. That's why he told david to "try again" and david said "he felt the power but it was harder to reach".
  9. Why did Steelheart let Fortuity die? Fifefight had already infiltrated the Reckoners, and knew Fortuity's Weakness. She would have reported this to Steelheart, but presumably was given the go-ahead. So why exactly did Steelheart let a powerful High Epic Die?
  10. Hi, I've been re-listening to steelheart and have just gotten past the chapter where they are going to kidnap Conflux when a thought occured to me. During her conversation with David Megan says that she has piloted a suit of power armour and that apart from firing the big mounted machine guns she didn't like it because it was too claustrophobic etc. Now it has been clearly stated that the Power armour suits don't have a seperate power source (fuel tank, battery etc) but are powered directly by the pilot after being gifted the ability. I also seem to remember that as an epic herself Conflux shouldn't have been able to gift his abiliies to Megan so, if we assume she isn't just straight out lying, how was this possible? Forgive me if I've missed something its been quite a while since I first listened to this book and I'm doing my re-listen whist at work so can't always give it my full attention but this just jumped out at me today and I was hoping someone here might have an explanation for me. Thanks in advance
