WoTaHoliday charity livestream 2023
Cheyenne Sedai posted a article in Events, Signings, & Giveaways
It's our fourth year doing WoTaHoliday, and it's going to be bigger than ever. This year we're supporting both the Lightweaver Foundation like always, and the Entertainment Community Fund, in the wake of all the fallout for creatives because of the strikes. We want them to be able to have a good life while the industry boots back up and recovers. We'll be splitting the funds exactly down the middle. The Lightweaver Foundation contributes to food pantries & homeless shelters, but also makes sure books are readily available to those in need. If you want to donate, you can do so here. Because of the logistics involved, our goal will be £10k. Speaking of donations, Dragonsteel has been incredibly generous and given us some items to give away, in addition to our regular mug giveaway. We'll have details on the stream on how you can enter the drawings for those, so don't miss it. We'll start at 7:30 EST on Saturday 2nd, and run through Sunday at the same time. Personally, I'll be back for a Westlands Fashion 2.0 at 11 EST talking about the costuming in Season 2. You can watch the stream at the following links, depending on the time you join: https://www.youtube.com/live/NdHmzhyLgZA?si=Lfxv_yqvdI-g8PhN (Stream 1) https://www.youtube.com/live/nCwy719dPEY?si=4REBWg0heLhKzRxD (Stream 2) https://www.youtube.com/live/Tl5NbmLPa5I?si=02L8nhXpd-F3XlHd (Stream 3)-

Last year I (Cheyenne), along with Rob from Malkier Talks and Andrew from the Black Tower Podcast wanted to create a charity event from the holidays, and within hours of putting the idea out into the world, the Wheel of Time community jumped in with overwhelming support. Dates were picked, over 24 hosts were scheduled, and when the Lightweaver Foundation was suggested, the decision was unanimous, and a wonderful event spanning 24 hours was hosted, where we could talk about the books we love, while bringing food and books to the people that need them. The Lightweaver Foundation contributes to food pantries & homeless shelters, but also makes sure books are readily available to those in need. Join us on December 11th for year 2 of the Wot-A-Holiday livestream event, supported by the Charity of Time. Help us get books to schools, prisons, hospitals, and homeless shelters. The following are our schedule and promotional poster, as well as the link for the Just Giving page where you can make donations. Just Giving: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wotaholidaylive Livestream: https://youtu.be/fvT_UXgXWeA I will be at the opening and closing ceremonies, since I am on the planning committee, as well as the Westlands Fashion segment with some wonderful artists and Katie Sedai from Dragonmount, as well as with Fantasy for the Ages along with Ilana and Alfonsina, my cohosts on Worldhoppers. I hope that if you’re a fan of the Wheel of Time, whether it be the books or the show you can join us, and if you’re able, donate to this wonderful cause that the Lightweaver Foundation furthers. We are uncertain if Brandon will be able to join us at some point, or if we will only have a short video from him like we did last year, but regardless, this is a cause I believe in and would like to invite you to participate in as well.

Hi, This is Sharon. I kind of joined the fandom when I realized that Brandon Sanderson would be at Worldcon 76. I joined 17th Shard to find people to go with, was asked to record signing sessions, which I did: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/356-worldcon-76/ I then started doing research into The Lightweaver Foundation. Findings here: I also met Moshe Feder, Brandon's Tor editor at the con. He has graciously agreed to be interviewed in a series of "scrolls". There will be Brandon-related stuff of course, but everything will be from Moshe's POV and of course there will be non-Brandon related stuff too. Here is the first scroll: http://shazarose.blogspot.com/2018/08/moshe-man-behind-copper-mind-scroll-1.html A future planned "scroll" will document half of Brandon's twin inspiration for including characters like Kaladin, Shallan and Dalinar, who all suffer from various mental health issues, in his Stormlight Archive series. Moshe himself is one half of this inspiration, and I will be documenting Moshe's bout against bipolar disorder that he wants to share in order to help raise awareness about mental health issues. When I asked him if it would be a painful thing for him to share, he had this to say: "Not painful to share. It’s a duty to help fellow sufferers and to work on reducing stigma. When I was Corflu (fanzine fan con) GoH, it was a major part of my speech." Hope you do enjoy the series if you decide to check it out! Warmest Regards Sharon Hooper
