  1. Sanderson fans, especially Skyward fans! I just submitted a Lego Ideas set featuring the DDF Poco from Skyward, based on the artwork by Ben McSweeney. If we can get 10,000 votes of support, Lego will consider making it into an official set. Supporting is free, you just have to make an account with Lego. (This prevents people from bot-farming votes for themselves.) Please consider supporting and/or passing this info to friends/groups who might be interested. How you can support this potential set: 1. Go to https://ideas.lego.com 2. Click “log in” link in top right and create an account. 3. Go to the Skyward submission at https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36f34d66-8aa5-4e82-a09b-af966300d379 (or search for poco or skyward) and/or have a look around and find additional projects that you like. You can vote to support as many submissions as you like. 4. On the Skyward submission, click on the yellow “support” button in the top right. That's it! You should have gotten a pop-up saying thank you and suggesting other projects with similar keywords.
  2. It is finished! This project took much less time than I was expecting, despite it still taking around 10-13 total hours to finish. I am super happy with how it turned out, considering the whole thing is straining at the limits of the pieces! I included a Spensa minifig along with a "Doomslug" figure (just a yellow arm with a blue hand). The underside of the wing folds out with access to the technical bits for repairs and whatnot; there is also a storage compartment in the back with a destructor pistol. The model is based on the illustrations from the back of the book and the 3D model made by Simon Jennings on SketchFab (https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/skyward-ddf-poco-ship-e68799eb65bd40e193dd0d3b656274d5).
  3. I recently started playing around with Bricklink Studio. It's a really fun software to creatively build things with legos you don't even have! I searched to see if anyone had built M-Bot before and found this forum. The other build is definitely great, but I wanted to give it a go with Studio to see what I could come up with. This was probably too ambitious of a project to start with, but I learned a lot. Building from scratch with every single lego piece ever made as an option to use was a bit much. In the end I'm very happy with my "build" though. As with the other real build, the wings do sweep back and forward as you can see in the pictures. I hope you enjoy! I'm already thinking possible upgrades and how I would change it so I might post more pictures later.

    Lego M-Bot

    From the album: Skyward Lego

M-Bot, in Lego form! I've been working on this in bits and pieces (literally) ever since I read Skyward. Finished it about a month ago, and it's taken me this long to get around to taking some decent photos of it and uploading it here. I used Ben McSweeney's illustrations from Skyward as reference. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, though I wish I had a curved cockpit windshield in my collection-- I had to make do with the straight windshield piece you see here. Anyways, more angles on this model below. Angled top view: Angled top, wings forward (yes, they move): Rear: Side, angled: Profile (just pretend those two black stands aren't there): Front: Bottom (note the light-lance and acclivity ring ): And yes, the acclivity ring moves (though its range of motion is nowhere near what's described in the book): Spensa in the cockpit, control sphere in the right hand, throttle in the left (I almost mixed that up ): And one last picture of Spensa and M-Bot, to top it all off:

© September 2019 Zath. That's me. I made this. No stealin', okay?

  9. Check out these absolutely superb LEGO builds that an acquaintance of mine has recently done. I was extremely impressed with them myself! Flickr Link Individual builds: The same builder also lead a collaborative effort to build a huge diorama of the Battle of Falme from the Wheel of Time:
  10. Hi All! I'm new to the forum, but a long time Brandon Sanderson fan. I love the Mistborn trilogy, and thought it would be fun to create a Lego Ideas project based on it! For those that don't know, Lego Ideas is a platform where users can submit their creations, and if they get enough supporters it could become a real Lego set! Check out the details and such on the official site. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/f33f22fb-ca30-43b5-a46a-6f17bede06ed
  11. Hi! I've posted some of my lego Sanderson fan art here before, but I finally made a dedicated site for it. The page with Sanderson stuff is at http://www.secondbrickfast.com/index.php/brandon-sanderson-art if you are interested, though the sidebar also shows a few albums for a couple other authors. Spoilers abound, but I did my best to outline the nature of the spoilers in the text before each album. Still, if you haven't read everything by Sanderson, I suggest avoiding albums as necessary. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!
  12. Hi everyone, I just finished a fan art album of Keep Venture. There are some mild spoilers for near the end of Mistborn: The Final Empire. It's a Facebook album but it's public so you shouldn't need an account to view it: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10208263222966291.1073741843.1474667500&type=1&l=4a1a95c340 I also attached the first photo here in case you prefer that option. I plan to do a few more scenes from the Mistborn series, so if you see any errors or have suggestions, please let me know! Thanks!
  13. Hi everyone, I just posted another album of lego fan art for Words of Radiance. This one covers part 5, featuring Vedenar, Narak, and Urithiru. There are heavy spoilers for the end of the book, so beware. The album is on Facebook but it is public so you shouldn't need to be logged in to view it. The link is below: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10207905505903588.1073741842.1474667500&type=1&l=51c11d3ed4 Enjoy! Feedback is always welcome.
  14. Does anybody remember that old BIONICLE LEGO theme? Not the new one, but the old one. You know, the one with the epic story, amazing art, and awesome figures? If not, look over here for some information about it. And maybe here for the comics and story serials (Click on "Pictures" then "Comics" for the comics, and click on "Serials" for the story serials). Let's discuss this amazing story and maybe post pictures of MOCs (My Own Creations)! I guess I'll start the discussion. What's your favorite mask? Mine would probably be either the Kanohi Kraahkan, mask of shadows, or maybe the Kanohi Olmak, mask of dimensional gates.
  15. Hi everyone! I just posted another lego fan art album. This one covers WoR part 4. Link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10206526279223783.1073741840.1474667500&type=1&l=1871eccbf7 The prominent scenes are Lift's interlude, the Feasting Basin, and the scouting expedition on the shattered plains (and the encounter on the way back). The albums are all public so you don't necessarily need a Facebook account to view them. If you haven't seen the first 3, here are the links for reference. Part 1: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10204046680875374.1073741833.1474667500&type=1&l=f1ba0bd743 Part 2: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10204588445459150.1073741835.1474667500&type=1&l=a5db382e61 Part 3: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10205431248648703.1073741839.1474667500&type=1&l=03f174d7f3
  16. Adding on to my Chasm Duty scene I made a few days ago (which can be found here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/20625-lego-chasm-duty-scene-way-of-kings/ ), I've made an ardent and chull scene. Picture 1: General Overview of the scene. Picture 2: Directing rod (to use on chull's antennas), Ardent, and saddle, respectively. Picture 3: SIde view of the chull Picture 4: Is it a chull? Is it a boulder? That's all for now.
  17. Hello everyone. This is the scene from The Way of Kings when Kaladin and the rest of Bridge Four are on Chasm Duty for the first time. (At least, the first time we hear about it.) It's inspired by the book, of course, and the LEGO scenes from The Stormlight Archive made by Rick Martin. They don't NEARLY go as far as his do, but I would probably do better with more pieces. Picture 1. The overview of the scene. Picture 2. Teft and Kaladin, respectively. Picture 3. The weapons in the pile shown in picture 1, being a Grandbow, Alethi Spear, Parshendi Sword, Parshendi Axe, and Crossbow. Picture 4. Kaladin, with Teft, makes a discovery that Parshendi grow armor. Strange stuff. Picture 5. Kaladin demonstrates an extraordinary kata form as Teft witnesses it in the light hailing from the torch. That's all for the Chasm Duty Scene. I will post more WoK pictures soon.
  18. Hey everyone, I just posted a large album of lego fan art covering all of part 3 of WoR. Plenty of spoilers. It's on Facebook (but public) at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10205431248648703.1073741839.1474667500&type=1&l=03f174d7f3 . Also, I added some other random Cosmere (mostly Stormlight) lego art at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10204700061809489.1073741838.1474667500&type=1&l=7ec045ffd3 , including a lego Stormlight chess set. Spoiler warning, the first pic has characters from Mistborn, Elantris, and Warbreaker as they appear late in their respective series. As always, feedback is welcome. Thanks!
  19. Hey everyone, I made another lego fan art album for Words of Radiance, covering part 2 and the interludes through I8. Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10204588445459150.1073741835.1474667500&type=1&l=a5db382e61 As long as people seem to like them, I'll keep posting them here. However, if there is a better place for me to post this, please let me know. Feedback is welcome, as are suggestions on what to do next.
  20. Hey everybody, I've posted another lego gallery, this time featuring part 1 of Words (through the first set of interludes). Minor spoilers, but I made sure not to include any references to anything past that point in the book. The link is https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10204046680875374.1073741833.1474667500&type=1&l=f1ba0bd743 . Many thanks to Peter Ahlstrom for granting permission on behalf of Brandon/Dragonsteel to use copyrighted images from the book's interior. Feedback is welcome.
  21. In case you haven't seen it on Facebook yet, I created a lego version of the shattered plains, specifically the Battle of the Tower: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10203527555737570.1073741830.1474667500&type=1&l=d7de9ddc50 I'd like to thank 17th Sharders Windrunner, Natans, hoser, eveorjoy, deddinty, and Inkthinker for the forum discussion of appropriate colors a few months back. I need something else to do now that that's done, so I'm open to suggestions.
  22. Does anyone know what color the shattered plains are? The cover art depicts them as red, but I don't trust cover art and anyway that could just be due to the sunset. I have scoured the text and have not found any specific reference to the ground other than frequent references that it is stone. I'm trying to recreate them in Lego, so any other relevant environmental descriptors would be helpful. Thanks!
