So, in Mistborn era 2 there are four major religions: The Path, Survivorism, Sliverism, and—not sure if this is a spoiler or not— I was wondering if we knew any more about Sliverism than what’s on the Coppermind article, and why Brandon chose to have Joshin and M’ichelle Yomen (Josh and M’ichelle Walker) Sliverists. And any theories you have about it.

Hello everyone. I've been working on this theory for a little while and wanted to know what other people thought of it. My theory is this: I believe that through the Cognitive perception of the people on Scadrial towards the figure of Ironeyes Marsh is manifesting more and more in the Cognitive Realm as the actual embodiment of death, all the while keeping a material aspect in the Physical realm, similar to how spren have an appearance in the the Physical realm, but are fully manifested in the Cognitive realm. I believe that as time goes on Marsh will cease just being an Inquisitor who is viewed as Death, but will actually become the Cosmere's version of the Grim Reaper: the avatar of death itself, Ironeyes. My evidence: 1. Marsh's soul is spiked over 20 times, thus making his spiritual web susceptible to manipulation from outside sources. 2. Marsh has been viewed as a personification of a force of nature(in this case death) for over 300 years by millions of people on Scariel. So the Cognitive perception people have of him is very fixed. 3. Harmony has invested Marsh a number of times in order to meet people in the Cognitive realm to act the part of Ironeyes that people perceive him as. Thus strengthening the Cognitive perception of him even further. 4. We know that a Connection between Physical realm beings and Cognitive realm entities can exist(Radiants), what I'm suggesting is that this is a Connection between Physical beings(Scadrial's people) and a singular Physical being's Cognitive aspect. 5. At the end of Lost Metal we have 3 pieces of information about Marsh that have yet to be resolved or answered: 1. He needs a new way to retain his immortality, as Atium is no longer a reliable source. 2. He can walk around in public and no one notices him. He claims it's emotional Allomancy but Wax believes it is something else. 3. Kriss is aware that other planets are acknowledging Marsh as Ironeyes, for reasons she doesn't understand. If I am correct in my theory then all these issues are resolved. As a being who is more manifested in the Cognitive realm Marsh would stop aging or at least greatly slow in growing old, as spren and seons do. As the personification of a force of nature his presence would be like air and gravity, always present but barely noticed. And if he is becoming more and more a Cognitive entity then the idea of him could be spreading in the minds of other inhabitants of the Cosmere. So that is my theory. Hope it makes sense. So, I'm almost certain others have theorized this already, but after some extensive searching, I was unable to find anyone on here who did. So, here we go. In Epilogue 7, Marsh approaches Wax, Steris, and Marasi before Wayne's statue. When asked on how he walks about without drawing attention, he passes it off as emotional Allomancy. Still, Wax expresses his doubts. I think all Cosmerenauts on all worlds stirred in their beds with that phrase. But regardless, this moves on to my theory. I think Marsh moves about unseen through a combination of emotional Allomancy... and Feruchemical duralumin. To quote from the Coppermind, Feruchmeical duralumin functions as such. This seems a very likely explanation for that "something more" Wax postulates. Granted, don't know if Marsh was given spikes following the Catacendre, and there is no way of knowing if Rashek was aware of duralumin's Feruchemical properties. Still, he was a Feruchemist himself, and discovered duralumin. It makes sense he would test it. Anyway, there's my three cents. Thoughts? ~Longshot97

This isn't a theory, just something I think everyone needs to know. I was looking through WoBs (W's oB?) about 'sixteen' and I ran across this: So he has a whole bunch of atium that, I assume, he's using to compound his age. The reason Brandon didn't explicitly say that Marsh was compounding is because this Q&A was before Alloy of Law, and the readers at that point didn't know a whole lot about compounding. He just said there was something you could do with atium to make yourself younger. So, there you go. I just think we all need to be on the same page about that.

It was Kelsen’s fault in the end. Most things were, according to Marene anyway. Kelsen would argue but, well, more often then not his sister was right. This one though... This one was just as much Marene’s fault as it was Kelsen’s. It had been her idea, after all. It had been a perfectly ordinary weekend until then. Ashren, their cousin, had come by and the two boys were going at it with their guitars, playing along to their favorite bands and blasting lyrics at full volume. Never one to be outdone, Marene tried to drown them out with notes high enough to shatter glass. “What are you singing?!” Mrs. Eld had been an opera singer once, and her powerful voice brought a sudden end to the battle of the bands. Unfortunately for the cousins, that meant the harsh metal lyrics were all the more audible. “Put a spike through her heart-“ Kelsen shoved the needle away with a sharp screech! but the damage was already done. He didn’t have to look up to know his mother was glaring. “It’s just words, Ma.” ”Words,” Mrs. Eld snapped, “have power. I’ve raised you to be good Survivorists, and I won’t have that,” she shot the record a disgusted look, “trash in my home.” She snatched the black disc from her son’s hands, snapping the hard plastic in one sharp movement. ”Ma!” Kelsen protested. “That cost a whole months allowance!” Mrs. Eld was unmoved. “Then next time spend it on something worthy.” ”But the music’s great,” Ashren protested, realizing his mistake too late, flinching as his aunt turned her withering glare on her nephew. “And I’m sure my sister will be delighted to hear it.” Ashren winced again. “Why don’t you find some noise with better lyrics?” ”They don’t make ‘em,” Kelsen muttered, looking mournfully at the broken pieces. It had cost him a whole month’s allowance too. He’d known buying it was risky, but the music was amazing! It was sharp, and wild, and nothing at all like the classic arias his parents had had him practicing since before he could remember. This was something entirely new, something for his generation! Not that his parents would understand. All they heard were the words, which were, admittedly, pretty bad, glorifying murder and Ironeyes and Hemalurgy. Kelsen wasn’t too fond of them himself, but the music was worth it. His mother disagreed, leaving him with a stern warning about what would happen if she caught him listening to such ‘trash’ again. “I bet she’d like it if it had Survivorist lyrics,” Kelsen said crossly after his mother left and the door was safely shut, “even if they were about how he killed the nobles or robbed people or was tortured in the Pits.” ”Yeah,” Ashren agreed. “Wish someone’d make some.” ”Why don’t you?” Marene snapped, flicking her long, dark hair back. “Better then wasting more of my practice time.” Marene wanted to be a famous singer, like her mother had been, and that meant a lot of practice. Kelsen had a good voice too, but he would rather play his guitar. “Because-“ Kelsen paused abruptly, objection silenced as his sister’s words penetrated. “Why not?” he said slowly, turning the idea over in his mind. The more he thought about it, the better it seemed. “Why not?” And so The Survivor’s Crew was born. (You are allowed to critique this, because apparently I need to give permission now.)

Hi guys. I've read almost everything Brandon Sanderson. I love it all, but my favorite is Mistborn. There's always another secret! I have a degree in English, so I really enjoy dissecting his work and discussing with friends. I own a music business, I've written and produced music for over 30 years; and I played college basketball in a decade that shall remain nameless. We know that Of course Ruin is Sazed now who isn't hellbent on killing everything or making anybody who he can influence kill stuff as well but again nobody has more spikes than Marsh has in the entire Cosmere. This sounds like a huge implication that he did use hemalurgy or at least utilized already existing spikes for himself. He doesn't seem homicidal and Sazed doesn't count Marsh when he said "the last time he had good conversation was with Kel-(this was around SoS)" when Marsh and Sazed basically has the most direct line communication ever considering the amount of spikes Marsh has. Why not mention Marsh as well ? Even after the fall of TLR and before Ruin was released. Sazed did mention to making an effort to communicate with Marsh since he was alienating the crew. So how sane do you think Marsh actually is ? Cause the spikes has to have an effect on him.

So I just finished re-listening to The Alloy of Law on audiobook and I have a question regarding Marsh. Obviously, he has found some way to stay alive. I feel like the most obvious way he did this is with a combination of Allomancy and Feruchemy, just like the Lord Ruler used. However, I see a potential problem. In Feruchemy, atium is used to store physical age. However, in Era 2, atium is merely a thing of legend. I thought I remembered via WOB that the power of Harmony that would have coalesced into atium is instead being used elsewhere for some other, as of yet, unknown purpose. If this is the case, how is Marsh staying alive? Did Harmony merely allow enough atium to form that would let Marsh survive 300 years, or is there another reason?

Hey just a question, do we know if kelsier and marsh have met back up with each other, because I feel it would be a fairly interesting family reunion.
