  1. Hello everyone! To be completely honest, I made an account to get the Aether of Night copy, but then I thought now that I'm here, I might as well talk to people and discuss about the Cosmere. I started reading Sanderson's novels earlier this year, but now I can't stop reading. I've only read the Mistborn books so far -currently starting Shadows of Self-, but as soon as I finish these books I'll start reading The Stormlight Archive. I started reading Mistborn because I was intrigued by the complex magic system, and the way Steelpushing and Ironpulling applied physics to a magical world. But then I realised I could see a part of myself reflected in almost every single character in the first Mistborn Trilogy, and after that I couldn't put the books down. Breeze is my favorite character so far, not because of his actions or his skills, but because of the way he thinks and speaks. I think I should've said this first: I'm a 23 year old game developer, sound designer and music producer from Argentina. I'd also love to be a writer: I've been writing short stories since I was 5 years old, and I'd love to write a full novel someday, though between university and three jobs I haven't found a lot of time to write in the last 2 years. I'm usually very shy, so I try not to talk too much, but we all love Sanderson's books, so I'll definitely stay around here. I look forward to talking with you all some more in the future!
  2. My name is David, and I first got my start on Sanderson in 2009 when a dear friend introduced me to Mistborn and Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians. I love deep Cosmere theories, rigorous debates, long walks on the beach, Anime binge-watching, and writing far too many stories at a time (my current WIPs are at 5). I will ask and answer questions, and I love sharing excerpts of my works. Thanks!
  3. Hello! I recently read one of those somewhat unsubstantiated clickbait articles claiming that my shameless nerdiness and obsession with multiple fictional universes is actually good for me, and realized I had not yet plumbed the depths of the Sanderson community, so here I am. Heal me, my fellows. In any case, greetings from Milwaukee, WI. I basically read like it's my second job (and I'm a teacher, so I read a lot for that job, too) so I can wax poetic about Sanderson's works, the Wheel of Time, Gentleman Bastards, The Farseer books, Harry Potter, Tolkien, Marvel, ASoIaF, and...probably a lot more, tbh. I read A LOT and am always looking for solid recommendations so I stop rereading a safe bet. I also shamelessly read and write fanfiction. Lovely to be here.
  4. Hey there Sharders, Sanderfans, or w/e we shall be called! A wild Rowroad appears! I have been a sanderfan from like 2013, though I never registered till now. I have been around here though. I use the Coppermind a lot. I am blind, and am from Qatar. I'm honored to be on here. Also, I'm sorry if the formatting appears weird ish, some of the aspects of the forum don't respond well to screen readers, but I hope I would be of help in improving them. Cheers.
  5. Hello everyone, My name is Matteo aka matfire1999, I'm 18 and currently live in Florence. I first stumbled upon Brandon Sanderson with a promotion for The Last Empire in my local bookstore(Feltrinelli). I read the first trilogy in a few weeks and immediately bought the second one. Then I started reading the Way of Kings and I'm currently finishing up Worlds of Radiance.
  6. I've lurked on 17th shard on and off for almost a year and finally decided I may as well sign up. I've read all on Brandon Sanderson's cosmere works, and a fair bit of his other stuff too and I think I might have the occasional thing to add to the conversation. For the last two years my wife and I have been living up in northern Canada. There's not many people up here and fewer still who enjoy epic fantasy, so it'll be nice to talk about something I really enjoy here In a way that I really couldn't otherwise.
  7. Hey. I just finished reading all the Cosmere books, ending with White Sands, and I can't get enough of it. I'm here looking to share the love and overanalyze the texts with everyone!
  8. Hi Everyone! I'm new to the 17th Shard; however, I'm not new to Mr. Sanderson's works! I've been reading his wonderful stories for the last 3+ years. I've also had the pleasure of attending 3 of his signings for various book releases. I look forward to discussing theories about the future of his stories and debating the mechanics of his impressive magic systems. Outside of being a fan, I enjoy reading (no brainer), writing, sports, video games, music, and spending time with my wife and son - not in that order. Some other authors that I like are Dan Wells, Patrick Rothfuss, Ernest Cline, Marcus Sakey, and George R.R. Martin (to name only a few). I am an unpublished writer in my spare time and consume more episodes Writing Excuses than is necessary (long commute to work everyday). I trust you will find this introduction satisfactory, and remain yours faithfully, Forerunner
  9. Hello everyone, you can call me Axsaul. I have read all current cosmere novels out to date. Quite a few multiple times. SA, MB. I'm looking forward to getting lost in thoughts and theories with people who enjoy the cosmere as much I do.
  10. Hello, I'm Wiggs. My brother (Left) introduced me to Brandon Sanderson and 17th Shard. I have read Elantris, Rithmitist, all the current Mistborn, Both of the Stormlight Archives, all of the current Alcatraz, and a fair amount of the novellas. Looking forward to spending more time here.
  11. Hi, I'm new to this forum but not the Cosmere. Reading the books and having almost no one to talk about them is hard so I'm finally joining the community here.
  12. Greetings, all! Quick introduction, okay - Irish fool in a small town skirmishing more prominent borders, but hey, I have access to bookshops. All that really matters, right? So some context. I had actually been looking to read Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' series when I stumbled upon beauty. I still plan on doing so, but other obligations stand in the way. I will soon, naturally, but back to the context! One day, I was in Dubray Books, in Dublin, with my friend, and I brought him over to the fantasy section (as you do) to show him the Wheel of Time books, eagerly anticipating when I would first get to open the first of the 14-book series (this was just under a year ago now). I mentioned very briefly to him how a man named Brandon Sanderson (at the time it was a very 'whoever the hell that is' kind of attitude) had written the final three books instead of just one final book, as Jordan had passed before completing the series. It was at this point, my friends, that one of the workers at the store overheard me, and came wandering. He asked, cautiously, if I had read any of Sanderson's books. I told him no, I hadn't. Why, what were they like? Similar to the Wheel of Time? His answer was very yes and no. It was at this point he told me about the Cosmere, and how almost all of his work was connected. He elaborated a little bit, though a lot less than I would now. We then shared a Doctor Who joke, naturally, and moved on. So I decided I'd check this Sanderson guy out. Couldn't hurt, right? (Disclaimer, it has only ever hurt my social life, but I really don't mind). I did some research, looked up books, premises, and decided to play it safe. I ordered Elantris; his first published work, the breeze that kicked up a hurricane, and a stand-alone (for now). First impressions, it was ridiculously sexy (UK covers, of course, apologies America). Second impressions, it was casual. And then it wasn't. It was real. And beautiful. And I loved it. I moved onto Mistborn. I read the first trilogy in just under two weeks. And like that, I was hooked. Suddenly I was willingly drowning myself in lore, research, ANYTHING I could read about and discover within the Cosmere. Never before have I been so APART of something in literature. Less than a year on, today, I have amassed an entire collection of his books and have thrown away the key to my own cage that is Sanderson's work. So I certainly hope that now, after long waiting to join, I will be able to deliver myself to the lorists of the 17th Shard. . . but largely just to be apart of the community. You know? I could rant about Sanderson for hours - and I have, especially with friends who are just as locked up as I. So here I am folks. It's an absolute pleasure.
  13. Hey everyone , I have been here for months now and thought I should say hello and get some guidance about the best features and navigation in the site.
  14. Hello! I'm an avid reader of all things cosmere. Can't wait to explore this forum and find out tons of things I've missed. Like many of you, I am blown away by the enormity of the cosmere series, its vastly different worlds and magic systems, how they are linked and all the major players and shard bearers. I have so much to learn and I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
  15. Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster, making myself known. Nice to meet y'all! *salutes* (^_^)
  16. Hello! So I have started reading Sanderson's book very recently and I am absolutely addicted. So far I have gotten through: Mistorn Trilogy Warbreaker Stormlight Archive 1 and 2. I am about to go shopping for my next Sanderson book and cannot wait. While I am here, do you have any recommendation for my next book, to get a better grasp of the cosmere? I want to theorize but do not want to come across any spoilers yet in case I ruin my next book. Great to be here, I do think I will stick around! Entropy
  17. Hey there guys my friend turned me onto Brandon's work with the Reckoners and from there introduced me to the cosmere which I now hate him for. My favorite series so far is The Stormlight Archive seconded by the Mistborn series although Warbreaker really peaked my interest. My favorite story out of Arcanum Unbound was Sixth of the Dusk and can't wait to see more on that world. Current read is Bands of Mourning after that all I have left is a couple stories in Arcanum Unbound. Sorry if it sounds like rambling but thats what happens when I start talking about the cosmere
  18. Hello. I'm moth, or Brenna if you want to be fancy and use my real name. I am an artist. I draw things! I love the cosmere. I also love Sazed. He is the best one. Some fun facts: I haven't read Sixth of the Dusk or SFSITFH yet, but I got them on audiobook and am absolutely too excited to listen to them. I have a particular fondness for birds. I do theater and keep bees and yell about politics. I am unusually likely to see shooting stars. I am allergic to pineapple. I love pineapple. My username was taken from a proverb that I heard somewhere in a dream once: "Don't yell at dead moths".
  19. Hello mah friends, I have been a long time fan of the Cosmere. For over 5 years I have been reading all of Brandon's books at least twice. What fascinated me about his works is his intricate plotting, his working speed and variety of characters and of course the whole Cosmere as a whole. My favorite book to date is "Words of Radiance" and my favorite characters are Kaladin and Dalinar. I am looking forward to contribute to the community and craft some crafty theories. Cheers blueshard

  21. Greetings! i'm Cryptnoch, I guess. didn't really think about what sort of nickname my alias might have when i created it. Usually I go by Morty, but with this one I suppose I might as well be 'Crypt' i've been entranced with Sandersons' books since Middleschool, which wasn't very long ago at all for me. My favorite cosmere book is inarguably The Way of Kings, favorite characters are Axies, Hoid, Kal, Vasher, and Jasnah. I'm absolutely obsessed with sandersons' worldbuilding, the ecosystems and cultures he creates, his use of magic to infuse his worlds with more energy than should be possible, the variety of styles in which he writes, characters he creates, manners in which he kills off (or does he?) the aforementioned characters. I'm quite ashamed to have only gotten around to making an account now, and hope to learn more about the cosmere. do throw random cosmere facts at me, if you have any to spare! also--Anyone here read the Johannes Cabal series?
  22. Hi everyone. How ya doin? I`ll start by saying i`m a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson. He`s an astounding author. Every time I read any of his books i`m hooked from start to end...and then I cry myself to sleep when it`s over... Anyway, from what i`ve seen so far this website is filled with the coolest guys/girls in the world and i`m excited to be a part of it. Seriously though, it`s intimidating how proficient you guys are at writing. Like, I had to retype a few words in this post to act cool like you guys(though i failed miserably). I even had to google up the spelling of proficient. Every time I visit posts i`m like Goddammit guys, stop being so witty and funny. P.S - I hope i didn`t put this post in the wrong forum
  23. Greetings, everyone. I came across this forum due to the podcast Writing Excuses. I started listening about two months ago and have enjoyed it greatly. It coincided with my re-interest in writing and their 10th season was a perfect way to get me going. I have also listened to a few older podcasts (3.14, 5.19, 5.33, and 6.10) to help better understand the craft. While I hope to learn more from other members and the podcasters, I plan to contribute some words of encouragement and inspiration. With that, may your imagination be great and your passion even greater... Marty
  24. Hi, it took me really long to come up with that title (despite the fact that I DO live on the 13th floor...I´m not good at starting stuff). Anyway. I live in Prague, which is a nice city, so happens to be the capital of Czech republic as well. I´ve known cosmere for a while, but found out about this forum only recently. I usually read fantasy (grew up on Pratchett, thanks mom), mostly Brandon, Pratchett, and Gaiman, but I have people like Sapkowski, Lukjaněnko or Maja Lydia Kosakowska (she´s pretty great. Grillbar Galaxy. Not sure it´s out in English) on my list of read as well (and I can pronounce their names, every single one). I promised to myself to never read or watch GoT, since I hate when invested so much energy into a character, that I remember their name, and then they just die. Except for reading, I am scout, play a few instruments (flute, that-weird-flute-you-hold-to-the-side, guitar, ukulele), debate, watch some series, actively participate in HP RPG, go to school, sing in a choir, and sometimes make something. Like, with my hands. Usually ends bad.
