  1. So, if you haven't read the new KoWT interlude that was spoiled at Dragonsteel, here it is: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/522-dragonsteel-2023/#e16257 And STORMS that chapter is spicy. So, the first part entails the journey of a few minor Worldhoppers, and apart from them being taunted by Hoid and learning that another old lady is a knight radiant, nothing much Cosmere-Related happens. But then we've got Cusicesh, who appears out of the water at random, speaks to the people of Kasitor, telling them it's time to leave the planet, and opens a giant storming portal for everyone to run into. Yeah, that's right. Remember that little tidbit in Tress about the Iriali disappearing off the face of Lumar? Yeah, that's what just happened here. In fact, I'd wager that a similar thing happened on Lumar, as well as every other planet with myths about the disappearance of the Iriali. So a few questions remain: What's going on with the Iriali? How did this happen on all the other planets? Where does everyone go? AND WHAT THE SCUD IS GOING ON WITH SCUDDLING CUSICESH? Discuss.
  2. In the baxil interlude, at the end he decides that he will go to NW to seek the old magic. Do you guys think he went? What would he have asked for? He said he would ask for courage. I wonder what NW would make of such a boon! Do you think any KR order would have something to do with courage? Stonewards? or his interlude was just an introduction to Shalash? Any ideas?
  3. One of the Ardents during an interlude chapter mentions that he has a strict deadline from his patron for the translation of a certain passage of dawnchant. I think this unnamed patron might be King Taravangian. I don't have any hard evidence for this, but it seems to fit, since Taravangian uses the translation of the dawnchant passage about the voidbringers as one piece of his many part attack on Dalinar.
  4. I'm sure a lot of you have read the Oathbringer interlude set right outside of Aimia (find it here if you havent) and i have a theory on one of the questions posed in it. What is on the island that can possibly cure Soulcaster savantism? My theory proposes that the Larkin/Lanceryn or their gemhearts (which are rumored to be on Aimian islands), used in fabrials, have the ability to rid the soul of the affects of savantism. This fits with what we already have seen them do (suck stormlight out of Lift). Expanding on this, I could see how these powers could greatly help Odium and his forces conquer Roshar. Not only could the Lanceryn be uused to easily combat Shardbearers and Surgebinders, but I could see how their powers could possibly be used in many other ways. As always, let me know what you guys think. edit: FIRST!11!!one!11
  5. Hey guys, I am a new reader so please don't go hard on me. I have a question regarding interludes in The Way of Kings. Are these chapters supposed to be some distant parts of the main plot or are they completaly pointless (not counting Szeth chapters)? Are we going to see characters such as Ishikk and Baxil in the future or are they just one-off characters? Thank you in advnace.
  6. Predicting the future is of the voidbinders, but I couldn't help thinking that Ashir and Geraind in I-8 are going to do some very important things. To rehash the details, Ashir discovers that flamespren almost completely go into stasis when they are directly measured and the measurement is written down. There are some restrictions: Once the measurement is erased, the flamespren resumes activity. Also, the measurement has to be real, not fake. Ashir ponders whether the accuracy of the measurement might affect how static the flamespren becomes. Did Shallan drawing the cryptics make them freeze too? Pattern seems to have suffered a severe loss of presence due to Shallan drawing him into existence imperfectly. But could the measurement/drawing phenomenon be used to combat voidish spren? Could Ashir have discovered the means to stop monstrosities like the 'escort' that Dalinar saw in a vision? Perhaps they could freeze the Parshendi Gods in place (I'm of the opinion that their 'Gods' partially include the spren that only arise from freshly killed Chasmfiends - perhaps those spren will lead to a new form of power)? And this is where I hand it to you. What uses could you find for freezing a spren in its tracks? Keeping in mind the restrictions, I guess it becomes harder than it seems.
  7. Welcome to the umpteenth Hurt'n'Heal game on the 17th Shard! Rules are simple and anyone can play: On your turn: Hurt one person for two health points or hurt two people for one HP each. Always highlight whomever you're hurting in red. Heal one person for one HP. Highlight this person in green. You cannot hurt and heal the same person in one turn. You must hurt and heal on your turn; don't just do one or the other. Anyone who reaches 20 HP becomes immune and is highlighted purple. You cannot hurt this person until the second round, which starts when there is only one non-immune person on the board (that person's HP is automatically raised to 20 and kept on the roster). The second round's HP cap is 30, and no one can become immune when it starts. A brief description of the players for this round if you can't remember all of the worldbuilding that Brandon did. I tried to keep it non-spoilery... ish. Ishik - The Purelaker who talks to the weird foreigners Rysn - The merchant apprentice who has to take care of "comatose grass" Ym - The shoemaker who believes in the One and heals orphans Nan Balat - Shallan's brother who tears apart crabs Axies - An Aimian who gets drunk, studies spren, and takes notes on his body Baxil - A man in the hire of a lady who goes around destroying statues Geranid - A hermit ardent who cooks food and studies spren with his wife Taln - The crazy guy who has RAFO written all over him, Stonesinew?!?!?!? Lift - The proto-Edgedancer who steals food in order to be awesome and bosses around a vine Zahel - A lonely ardent who uses strange metaphors and turns of phrase involving color Eshonai - A Listener Shardbearer, who tries to lead her people to survival Szeth - The Assasin in White, Truthless of Shinovar
  8. (*Long Post Warning*) "Boldness. You must be bold with the Reshi." / Vstim (Words of Radiance Rysn Interlude) This is a scene from Rysn Interlude of WoR =) I haven’t used this style for a while, but I actually like it! The original piece is here: Also, another sketch based on the whole chapter: I think Rysn, Tyvnk, larkin, Vstim (Oh my he is cute XD), Talik, Reshi King and the eye of Relu-na are included, and the background looks like Reshi Sea and those strange plants. I’m going to do more secondary characters but choice is so hard! Some notes a bit off the topic: Rysn’s outfit is inspired by Bohemian and Norwegian folk costume. For Thaylen men wear I decided to imitate the clothes from Ottoman Empire, especially those robes and hats. Everything related to Reshi people always reminds me of Maori culture in New Zealand. Also, Oceanian people’s tatoo often makes me think of Axies’ scholarly notes =) (Wow, it’s time to study some anthropology!) (Another thing: Is there any Thaylen eyebrow fan? Drawing them makes me so happy ^ v ^) Below is something not serious, drawn by ball pen in five minutes I'm so glad Axies makes a cameo here! Since I may not have enough time to draw in the next few months, I just upload some recent art here, mostly rough sketches, please don't mind "Don't weep, Szeth!" This…is kind of a SA interlude character crossover which I promised to do a few weeks back. I’ll try to include all of them from WoK and WoR =) "Old friend, I hope this missive finds you well." Wit/Hoid and the recipient of the letter, i.e. the dragon (some wild and silly imagination here) "Welcome, lost one." Talenel and Wit from the epilogue of WoK (Finally Taln! I always want to depict him XD) The design of Wit’s enthir is inspired by cittern, a stringed instrument from the Renaissance period =) Different character design for Emperor's Soul I couldn't decide how the final product would look like... We'll see =) Doodles of Iyatil and Zahel (Oh man I'm going to confuse him with Talenel...)
  9. So what did we learn during the Rysn interlude? Axies the Collector is there and is getting tortured. There are greatshell's that are really really big. If the Greatshell=potential voidbringer theory holds true then that would be very very bad. Grass is still boring. The Greatshells attract people who are bold (and naked and violent). Is it the culture or the Greatshells themselves? Just descriptive writing or is this important? Also she gets something called a Larkin by the Island So Aimans is the race Axies belongs to. Are they mentioned anywhere else? Is Axies connected to the greatshells somehow? Is he just here on the island for spren or because something related to his race exists on the island. Why is the creature important enough to get a chapter about it?
  10. Here are all of the readings from Words of Radiance that have been released so far. This list is going to be updated when more come out. Also, the spelling of any new names are merely approximations, not intended to be completely accurate. Jasnah Prologue Kaladin - Chapter 2 Dalinar's Vision Shallan Flashback 1 - Red Carpet, Once White Eshonai Interlude Rysn's Interlude Ym Interlude Lift Interlude Taravangian Interlude Enjoy!
