  1. Hey guys, a few months back when I first joined the Shard I put this question out there in the Cosmere Questions forum: After the epilogue of Oathbringer I grew super excited as something I thought of actually happened in the books (it's a storming rarity!). So, naturally, I'm pretty keen to discuss this. What I'm interested in discussing is: what does this mean for Hoid? How will this restrict him in terms of his worldhopping? We know he appears in MBE2, is the Cryptic with him then? And if so, how easily did he manage to take the Cryptic with him? Further questions I have would be things like: was it a long term plan of Hoid's to develop a Nahel bond? Or was it a "I simply need to stop the Fused getting it" kind of decision? I live in Australia so I won't get the chance to see Brandon anytime soon. But if you will see him and thus interests you too, please ask him about it. Lastly, I am really excited to potentially witness Hoid telling truths to his Cryptic to further the bond. I feel as though we may truly get some information about the elusive being. Plus... potential Hoid shardblade eventually?!
  2. OK, guys. Here's the single MOST IMPORTANT thing that OB brought up. List told Gawx not to trust Dalinar because he has a good butt. Butt, (see what I did there?) Lift says (in Edgedancer) that she thought Wit was awesome. (As old Whitehead) So. That begs the question. The question for the ages. A question we need to get WoB on. Does Wit have a nice butt? The fate of Roshar - nay!- of the Cosmere itself rests on the answer to that burning question.
  3. I have 2 questions... Well, one is a question. The other is more of a theory. 1) Who is the person that Wit is afraid will "crush an entire city for a chance to kill (wit)"? I bought the audio book and so can't really give his name since I don't know how it's spelled. 2) Could Zahel actually be Vasher?
  4. Alright, here goes: 1: When Wax saw Hoid on Scadrial disguised as a beggar, he was drinking perfume to get drunk. This is something that serious alcoholics do, and Hoid must be really miserable to do that. 2: Hoid beats the crap out of Kelsier in Secret History. He is incapable of harming living people, so that's out of the question for him. But, when he gets the chance to hurt a dead person, he does. Something is really hurting him enough to drive him to get sadistic pleasure out of Kelseir's pain. 3: Hoid disguises himself as Wit while on Roshar. When he does, he spends his time insulting everybody because he can. It's as if he can't physically harm the living, but he is trying to as much as possible. This one could be unrelated, but added to the first two it could mean something. Ideas?
  5. As I read Oathbringer, I got really excited about something that may seem insignificant and I think people are glossing over it (although, there may be a thread that I was unable to find - If so let me know!). In chapter 81 of Oathbringer, we find out about how the Wall Guard was able to Soulcast food without the Screamers noticing. Hoid had brought a metal, which almost certainly is aluminum, to Kholinar and told Azure to only do Soulcasting inside a room lined with it. And Spanreeds were unable to connect to the outside. This in itself made me super excited. Aluminum on Roshar! Hoid is brilliant. Okay, but it made me wonder. Aluminum is extremely valuable for its abilities to block emotional allomancy, and if it can block all kinds of long distance investiture and such, that's amazing. And aluminum is hard to produce, at least basically everywhere in the Cosmere at this point in time, but it won't always be that way. Aluminum was once one of the most difficult metals to purify in our world, but now it is ubiquitous, this makes me wonder about the massive economic and investiture/magic advantage a world will have once it can refine aluminum easily. I think that the power of aluminum will be fascinating, particularly as it has only done relatively small things so far. And at some point, it will be common. There could even be things like aluminum tanks! What do you all think about this?
  6. Normally when we see an icon of a "masked man" in the header we expect to see Hoid or some reference to him in the chapter. He certainly disguises himself a lot. What's Shallan's "handle" in the Ghostbloods? Veil - not quite the same but close to being a mask, don't you think? She's developes into an expert (though not master) of disguise during the book. Just a coincidence? Well, either way I think Brandon has been dropping a few hints... In flashback chapter 45 (Middlefest), Hoid is certainly surprised to see the younger Shallan. I'd be very interested to know exactly what surprises him so much - he drops his drink and gapes. This isn't stated clearly but there is a strong implication that he's realised that she's a proto-Radiant and probablly a Lightweaver - he talks to her about imagination, lies and truth. At the end there's a strong hint that he'd be willing to help her learn, when he has time and when she's "ready". Shallan has had two apprenticeships so far (Jasnah and Tyn). We expected at least two: http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=593#14 I'm expecting her next apprenticeship to either be with Navani or a sword-master. At some point in the series, I have a feeling that she will figure out Hoid/Wit has been doing something similar to herself and corner him about it and she'll then have a stint as an apprentice to Hoid! Just a theory.... (but oh it would be fun!) PS For anyone curious for the title reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nij%C5%AB_Mens%C5%8D_no_Musume (for some reason, this series came to mind when thinking about this...)
  7. From the end of chapter 121: So, Jasnah has probably just bagged two Heralds but that's not the subject of this post. Who is Midius? Midius is probably a reference to Hoid: In chapter 53 we also have this: So, why would Hoid provide sketches of them? It seems unusually cooperative of him. There is another possibility though: We also see the Heralds in the visions as well, eg chapter 42. So it's possible that the sketches that Jasnah has are actually from Shallan and the "unexpected source" is the visions rather than Hoid? But then why do her drawings resemble Hoid's art style? Well, Shallan did develop her art style heavily from Dandos the Oilsworn and basically nobody else. So is it possible that Dandos was actually Hoid? I should note that Dandos has been name-dropped in all 3 SA books so far which is rather unusual. Incidentally, Jasnah has sketches of both Heralds and Taln wouldn't have been seen in the visions so does this mean Shallan told Jasnah about her meeting with Taln in WoR and sketched him from that? I can't say I'm confident about this Shallan theory but it is just about plausible. It would certainly be simpler for Hoid to give sketches to Jasnah though. But then, wouldn't it have been better for him to do that sooner rather than later? Why now? Either way, it's an interesting though minor little thing...
  8. Ok, friends, I apologize if this has already been discussed before. I searched for a post about it and couldn't find one, so I figured I'd open the discussion if it doesn't already exist. I've been noticing what I feel to be a quiet trend going on in the Cosmere - Silver. I would like your opinions on what this could mean or if i'm just plain crazy. Silver is not always in a meaningful spot within the Cosmere (clothing, decor, etc)... but when it does appear in a meaningful role, it seems to work the same way throughout the Cosmere. Considering how often Silver makes an appearance, it seems apparent that the metal is present on all of the cosmere worlds... some of those worlds seem to have discovered its very special uses and effects. Just to name a few key examples of silver making notable appearances within the Cosmere: Nalthis - Nightblood's sheath. To contain Nightblood's immense powers and abilities, he is kept within a silver sheath. When Nightblood is even slightly released from this sheath, his power is also released and he influences his surroundings. Like taking the cap off of something that kept him "bottled" up. Threnody - Silence Montane's dagger. Silver (weapons/dust) is the only thing on Threnody known to touch/harm/ward against shades... hence Silence's silver dagger. Silver can even heal a whither wound that has recently been caused by a shade. Silver on Threnody is widely known and coveted because of its effectiveness against shades. This is important because shades are, presumably, connected to/from/part of the spiritual realm. And yet silver is the one known defense that can touch/fight/resist them without ill effect. Scadrial - Electrum. I've always wondered why silver itself wasn't technically an allomantic metal... it seems like it should be. It does, however, show up in the Silver+Gold alloy known as Electrum. As near as I can tell, Electrum is the only metal of the 16 metals that is powerful enough to neutralize a God Metal (Atium) in another allomancer. "Thank you, Silver... because without you, Gold alone would only let me see my possible past self. With you, however, I can see all of my future selves - disabling Atium's advantage for its user. Whew!" Silver saves the day again! Roshar - Shardplate, shardblades, (and half-shards?). The shardplate(s) and shardblades of Roshar are repeatedly referred to as silver. Let's start with a few quotes. WoK Prologue mentioned Szeth's honorblade: "Szeth turned and continued on his way, slippered feet falling on the soft red rug. The Shardblade, as always, glistened silver and clean." ... and before that, the WoK Prelude mentioned shardplate itself: "Juxtaposed between them were others in gleaming plate armor. One group walked past, four men in their ragged tanned skins or shoddy leather joining a powerful figure in beautiful silver plate, amazingly intricate. Such a contrast." Along with many MANY other examples and quotes throughout WoK and WoR that (other than paint and ornamentation) repeatedly refer to Shardplate and shardblades as silver or "silvery metal." Crazy questions: In keeping with this silver theory here, is this what spren become when they transform into shardblades?...do they imitate/become silver? Could this be why shardblades can block/hit other shardblades and yet cut through everything else as if it wasn't even there? When the Vedens manufactured "half-shards," were they made of silver? Shallan encountered a keyhole at the Oathgate (at the end of WoR) that was "made of the same stuff" as a shardblade, as she put it. It doesn't seem implied that a spren had transformed into said keyhole... but rather unlike shardblades, no spren was involved. I theorize that no spren is necessary for this "stuff" (silver?) to exist in the physical realm. Therefore, the keyhole could possibly be made of simple silver. It's possible that the Vedens have managed to create their half-shards simply by discovering the proper metal to use when forging them. 1.) Have some Veden smiths forge shields of silver. 2.) Power the shield with infused gemstones (just like shardplate). 3.) and VIOLA! ...Half-Shard? ... Crazy crazy questions bouncing around my head. At any rate, one thing that seems certain to me is that silver is very special within the cosmere. It's possible that its effects and influence span across all three realms at once! I'm not saying that everything described as "silver" or "silvery" has some profound meaning behind it... but there might just be a bit of a cosmere-sized trend here. To me, if there really is a trend, it seems that silver can "counter" powers within the cosmere. Like shielding nightblood, touching/harming shades, mixing with gold to allow an allomancer to negate the effects of atium, stopping/blocking a shardblade's attack, etc... If anyone in the Cosmere knows what's going on, it's Hoid... and even he keeps a silver sword handy. "Wit picked his way through the groups of attendants, holding a cup of wine in one hand, silver sword belted at his side." "Wit sat on a raised stool at the end of the bridge leading onto the island. Wit actually dressed as a lighteyes should—he wore a stiff black uniform, silver sword at his waist." Seems like Hoid knows something about the benefits and usefulness of silver that we don't. Can you guys think of anymore examples? ...or am I crazy? What does silver mean to the Cosmere?
  9. I'm about 3/4 way done Oathbringer at this point, and I'm definitely enjoying it. That being said, however, I have found myself pretty concerned about Shallan. Her change in personality when portraying Veil was cute in WoR, but in Oathbringer she changes so wildly from Shallan to Veil to Radiant, altering her personality, self-control, confidence, conscious thoughts, and how she views other characters. This is textbook DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). She also behaves pretty wildly, stabbing herself in the leg with scissors, stabbing a mans' hand through her own, and purposely exposing her safehand to Kaladin, Adolin, and King Elhokar. Do you think Sanderson purposely portrayed her as mentally ill as a way to highlight her suffering as a child?
  10. Haven't noticed this as a topic yet - forgive me if this has been discussed elsewhere. Act 2. The Letters. My thoughts on authorship. First. All of them are Shards. Letter 3: Clearly, Sazed. The text matches the exact wording of WoBs regarding Sazed's plight. Also very polite and wants to make acquaintance. Which is good. Letter 1: My money is on Bavadin because the author clearly does not like Hoid, and takes opportunity to troll him. Bavadin's dislike of Hoid has been mentioned before. Also, the "my young avatar is very suspicious of you" bit is consistent with WoBs about the entire pantheons of Bavadin. Letter 2: The most difficult one, as it is written in plural, and is more ambiguous than the other two. But... Mraize has just visited the world of Aether of Night. So, my somewhat wacky theory is that Aether of Night has a new canon (no more Ruin on that world), and in that canon, there are either two sibling Shards on the planet, or one Shard that is essentially split into two halves and is held of two equally matched Slivers with own sub-Intents. And this is the Shard/Shards who are writing to Hoid in plural. Thoughts?
  11. I’m curious if anyone here has ever tried to compose a chronology of the Cosmere’s behind the scenes events. Like we know characters like Demoux were chasing Hoid and we know Hoid was doing things in Elantris and Khriss was trying to witness the death of Preservation. Has anyone here taken all these ‘larger Cosmere’ bits and pieces and placed them in a timeline?
  12. So, the Part 2 Epigraphs seem to be 3 different letters all addressed to Hoid/Cephandrius from Shards or at least envoys of Shards. I was curious to see if there was any new information on Shards or vessels so I typed them up in full here: Dearest Cephandrius, I received your communication, of course. I noticed its arrival immediately, just as I noticed your many intrusions into my land You think yourself so clever, but my eyes are not those of some petty noble, to be clouded by a false nose and some dirt on the cheeks. You mustn't worry yourself about Rayse. It is a pity about Aona and Skai, but they were foolish violating our pact from the very beginning. Your skills are admirable, but you are merely a man. You had your chance to be more, and refused it. No good can come of two Shards settling in one location. It was agreed that we would not interfere with one another, and it disappoints me that so few of the Shards have kept to this original agreement. As for Uli Da, it was obvious from the outset that she was going to be a problem. Good riddance. Regardless, this is not your concern. You turned your back on divinity. If Rayse becomes an issue, he will be dealt with. And so will you. Cephandrius, bearer of the First Gem, You must know better than to approach us by relying upon presumption of past relationship. You have spoken to one who cannot respond. We, instead, will take your communication to us - though we know not how you located us upon this world. We are indeed intrigued, for we thought it well hidden. Insignificant among our many realms. As the waves of the sea must continue to surge, so must our will continue resolute. Alone. Did you expect anything else from us? We need not suffer the interference of another. Rayse is contained, and we care not for his prison. Indeed, we admire his initiative. Perhaps if you had approached the correct one of us with your plea, it would have found favorable audience. But we stand in the sea, pleased with our domains. Leave us alone. We also instruct that you should not return to Obrodai. We have claimed that world, and a new avatar of our being is beginning to manifest there. She is young yet, and - as a precaution - she has been instilled with an intense and overpowering dislike of you. This is all we will say at this time. If you wish more, seek these waters in person and overcome the tests we have created. Only in this will you earn our respect. Friend, Your letter is most intriguing, even revelatory. I would have thought, before attaining my current station, that a deity could not be surprised. Obviously, this is not true. I can be surprised. I can perhaps even be naïve. I think. I am the least equipped, of all, to aid you in this endeavor. I am finding that the powers I hold are in such conflict that the most simple of actions can be difficult. I am also made uncertain by your subterfuge. Why have you not made yourself known to me before this? How is it you can hide? Who are you truly, and how do you know so much about Adonalsium? If you would speak to me further, I request open honesty. Return to my lands, approach my servants, and I will see what I can do for your quest. Interpretation: Letter 3 is definitely from Sazed but letters 1 and 2 are a bit harder to pin down. Based on the tones, I would say letter 1 is from someone who may have been Hoid's friend while letter 2 seems to be more antagonistic. Letter 2's writer also seems to admire Odium, which is curious. Looks like we have another Vessel name! Since Uli Da is dead, I guess that must have been the name of Ambition's Vessel? The "bearer of the First Gem" is an interesting title. I'm guessing it probably doesn't relate to Roshar despite the gem reference but who knows? None of the letters seem to come from Cultivation in my opinion. The first disapproves of dishardic worlds (Cultivation's relationship with Honor would preclude this) while the second is approving of Odium's initiative, which Cultivation probably wouldn't be since Odium kinda killed her lover. The phrasing in Letter 2 is kinda odd with the many references to the sea and whatever the heck Obrodai is. There's not much information on Autonomy but the apparent antagonism of Letter 2 might fit with Bavadin since she has bad blood with Hoid and seems to have some sort of relationship with Odium based on Hoid's grudge against the two of them. The allusions to the sea are weird however for someone whose main planet is half freaking desert though. It seems like its written by an agent and we know Autonomy is meddling outside Taldain so maybe this indicates some sort of plot on Obrodai (whatever/wherever that is)? Any thoughts beyond those?
  13. Okay, here's what I'm basing this theory on. First, from what I understand, we know that Hoid was present, at the Shattering of Adonalsium. Next, we know that Hoid was offered a Shard, and refused to take it. (please note that this is my personal understanding, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) Now, here's my evidence. This all comes from the chapter heading of Part 4 of WoR. These chapter headings are a letter from Frost to Hoid, in reply to Hoid's letter to Frost, through the chapter headings of one of the parts of TWoK. Here are my quotes: "Is not the destruction we have wrought enough? The worlds you now tread bear the touch and design of Adonalsium. Our interference so far has brought nothing but pain." (Chapter 66, "Stormblessings") This seems to me to be Frost expressing grief over causing the Shattering of Adonalsium. Because what else would happen if your God was killed, than chaos? "However, it seems to me that all things have been set up for a purpose, and if we--as infants-- stumble through the workshop, we risk exacerbating, not preventing, a problem." (Chapter 68, "Bridges") This, to me, seems to imply that they countered Adonalsium's diving design, in shattering him. "He bears the weight of God's own diving hatred, separated from the virtues that gave it context. He is what we made him to be, old friend. And that is what he, unfortunately, wished to become. (Chapter 71, "Vigil") This I think, is the most telling of the quotes. "He is what we made him to be..." How else would they have made Rayse full of hatred, than Shattering Adonalsium, and giving him the Shard of Odium? You, however, have never been a force for equilibrium. You tow chaos behind you like a corpse dragged by one leg through the snow. Please, hearken to my plea. Leave that place and join me in my oath of nonintervention. (Chapter 74, "Striding the Storm") Let me refer back to the first quote, "Our interference has brought nothing but pain." Although this could be referring in general, to Hoid's interference in important events, but based on the context and the other quotes, I'm going to go with he sowed chaos by Shattering Adonalsium. More Implications: If Hoid directly shattered Adonalsium, with the help of Frost, and neither of them received a Shard (I'm assuming Frost isn't a Shard), then it was in order to prevent some terrible thing from happening, not to grow in power. (Although I'm sure that those who helped him had that as at least a secondary motive.) Conclusion: Hoid shattered Adonalsium, with the help of Frost.
  14. In the Epilogue to The Way of Kings I noticed that Wit refers to "Talenel's" (ugh. Brandon you cagey weasel) Blade as a Shardblade instead of an Honorblade. "And then a bright, silvery blade rammed between the massive doors, slicing upward, cutting the bar that held them closed. A Shardblade." Wouldn't Wit know that this was no mere Shardblade? Wouldn't he know it was an Honorblade?
  15. During my WoR reread, I just found this. On page 727, where Kaladin is in prison, and Wit comes to tell the story of Fleet, he's sitting on a bench, tuning his lute (or some other stringed instrument) he says this, " 'Perfect pitch,' Wit said, 'makes this all so much easier than it once was.' " This seems to me to be a very subtle hint that Hoid has recently been to Nalthis and become an awakener. What do you think?
  16. Okay, first off, this thread will make a lot more sense if you read my theory that it's based off. However, I will provide a basic explanation here. My theory is that Hoid was the mastermind behind the Shattering. We also know that he was offered a Shard, and refused it. Now, here's the question. If he decided to shatter Adonalsium but refused a Shard, there are only a few possibilities as to his motives. This would say that it wasn't for power unless he had a change of heart between the Shattering and the time he was offered a Shard. So, what was his motive? Could Adonalsium have seemed threatening to him in a way we don't understand? What do you guys think?
  17. I received my copy of Firefight this morning, signed and Brandonised as per usual My request was "to tell me something about the Cosmere that has not been previously mentioned" and this is what I received: Signing reads "To Adam, Long ago there was a plot to destroy Adonalsium. It failed." So, what does this mean for the Cosmere as a whole? Was Adonalsium split due to another plot to destroy it, or, did it possibly split under his/her/its/their own free will? What position does this put the original Shardholders such as Bavadin, Rayse etc - were their conspirators in a plot? Or was their taking on of shards a way to preserve the power of Adonalsium, albeit in a lesser form? If this is the case, how did they become the Shardholders of their specific shards? Was it all by choice, as we know Rayse's was, or by random fate? What is Hoid's ultimate role in the Plot? Opinions, as always, are greatly appreciated! Happy reading all! Adam
  18. I'm listening to the audiobook, so I don't have the exact page number or anything, but there was a part in Words of Radiance that was a flashback to when Shallan was 14, and Hoid makes an appearance. When he first sees Shallan, he drops his drink, and then drops his jaw in Shallan's direction. Now, I know Hoid is a little strange, but the way it was described made it seem as if he was truly caught off guard by something. Will somebody please shed a light on this scenario for me?
  19. Hello, I'm a recent addition to this cosmere. I've been listening to Brandon Sanderson's books since I left America in March for my Deployment to Iraq. I've made it through 5 books, and I am excited about the 3rd mistborn book I will read this month, and the third Stormlight Archives book I will read in November when it is released. I have also listened to Warbreaker. However, I want the entire Cosmere in my library, Can someone list ALL of the books from Sanderson's collection in the Cosmere? Also, should I read the short novella Edgedancer before reading the Oathbringer? I have not had an opportunity to get any of the short stories. Also, it seems that Mr. Sanderson is quite involved in his community, where is the best place to keep my finger to feel for his pulse In this community barring social media?
  20. Is Wit a Surgebinder? When he tells Kaladin stories, like in the plateau with his flute, or when Kal's in jail, Kaladin describes being able to physically see the stories that Wit tells. We know that Truthwatchers and Lightweavers have access to the illumination surge, so could he be a Surgebinder? I don't have any detailed theories, but I'd like to hear yours!
  21. From the album: Cosmeme & Crossmere

Many thanks to Brandon for all the art ideas! (This is from the additional content in 10th Anniversary Elantris.)
  22. So it's time once again to grab your aluminium lined bowler hats, for some random speculation off the top of my head, that has literally just occured to me! My current random thought is on our ever present cameo maker, Hoid. We don't know much about his backstory outside of the now (at least mostly) non-canon Liar of Partinel chapters, and WOBs have been few and far between, but from a few of them, I've pieced together a slight idea about Hoid's magic system, or at least one of them. SO. Spoilers ahead for here and there, for WOBs and Secret History at least! Read at your own peril, you rusting airsick lowlanders! (Sources for my points below will either be coming when I'm more free from work, or if you kind Sharders add them with your speculation and additions to my thoughts ^-^) We know that Hoid cannot harm living people, but can apparently beat up Cognitive Shadows, as of Secret History at least. Hoid also knows how to stop pain and damage from physical blows from harming him in the Cognitive Realm, again from Secret History. We know that Hoid has a form of Feruchemy, via WOB. We know that "What Hoid does heals the soul", via WOB. We know Hoid has Lerasium, a Godmetal that can change someone's Spirit Web, and may have used it for a purpose that we don't know of yet, to make a change we haven't seen in the Cosmere so far. We know via WOB that Hoid has time dialation techniques for moving forwards in time, possibly to permit travel between planets avoiding the Cognitive Realm (Which would explain him getting on and off of Sel with the Dor making it so storming difficult in the CR) We know that in the Spiritual Realm, all things are connected, and there are idealised versions of everything, an ideal concept of Fire, and time and space don't apply to the Spiritual Realm, despite it not being the Beyond. We know from recent WOBs - Here We know that Lift exists partly in the Cognitive Realm, moreso than most humans are, enabling all sorts of things for her, (like perhaps her cognition of her age affecting her physical age, but that's a theory for another ramblepost....) mainly her absorption and metabolism of Stormlight. This all leads me to believe that Hoid has a form of magic that can affect the Spiritual Realm, either drawing power from, or connecting directly to, the Spiritual Realm. Hoid is immortal, ageless, as defined by Brandon's tiers of immortality within the Cosmere, and from what we know about Lift, I suspect that Hoid may be able to pull himself partially into the Spiritual Realm, and exist mostly there. The idealised self there wouldn't age as time doesn't exist in the SR, and we can see that TLR's age trick using Feruchemy wouldn't work because of the overriding Spiritual age forcing itself onto his Physical body. Thi may also account for him being unable to hurt Physical, living beings, since the Spiritual Realm is filled with idealised versions and true selves of everything, so I can't imagine that someone in the SR would be able to actually do something negative to harm the Physical form of someone in the PR. If Hoid could manipulate the SR, at least for himself, he could also change the ideal version of himself there, perhaps through an overwriting method like Forging, and change his appearance more than just Lightweaving (Both KR and Yolish) and age-manipulating Feruchimey could, explaining his various disguises, and how he could change his height to be short when he first met Kelsier in The Final Empire. Considering Hoid's longevity lasting from before the Shattering and long after, I can't imagine that he gained my proposed SR Magic from Lerasium, but I suspect it could enhance it somehow, considering it's a Godmetal that can affect Spiritwebs after all. Sooooooo, thoughts? Additions? Rebukes? This is based almost entirely on the SR containing ideal versions of each individual human, rather than one for Rosharans, Scadrians, etc, but I think that that would be the case, especially considering the different races on each planet, and the fact everyone and everything exists on all three Realms, rather than just the ideal versions in the SR.
  23. From the album: Cosmeme & Crossmere

This is already in Sanderson Memes thread, though it would be nice to put it here, too. Mistborn/Rick and Morty crossover prompted by @Extesian , a parody of Rick's enthusiasm over Szechuan dipping sauce (from S03 E01). In this, Hoid is desiring Scadrian spicy instant noodles instead. The instant noodles stuff comes from this WoB:
  24. So my theory of the origin of hoid is. First we will go back to the list of partinel- an unpublished cosmere book, a prequel to the dragonsteel main sequence- there is this man named midius, and his master/teacher is named hoid. As we know from the letter "And do you no longer hide behind the name of your old master?" We can assume that the hoid we know is "hiding behind the name of his old master" midius' master is named hoid. So midius is the hoid we know today. In mistborn: secret history, hoid refers to himself as “Who are you?” Kelsier said. “I?” the man said. “I am a drifter. A miscreant. The flame’s last breath, made of smoke at its passing." The man is hoid. But what does he mean by "the flame's last breath, made of smoke at it's passing" I believe that this "flame" is adonalsium. Before I continue I must explain the background of the liar of partinel: the lore is that they had gods, then they died. Then the fain life (white fuz that grows on everything. It is okay to breath in, but if you eat it it is poisonous and you will die. There are places called trune circles, Where people can live and fane won't come in) grew from their bodies. So I am thinking that midius is slightly different from hoid. I am thinking that midius took up the power of adonalsium saved yolen. Then the 16 came and disagreed with him. “Aaah . . .” Fuzz said softly. “I had thought that when he rejected the rest of us, he would stop interfering” (Fuzz is preservation) “I should know better than to trust an implication from him. Half the time you can’t trust his outright promises” So midius took up the power of adonalsium. Then the 16 came, had a disagreement with him. Made him promise something. Then he broke his promise, then the 16 were forced to shatter him. The 16 got his powers, but a form of cognitive shadow was left over. This cognitive shadow is the hoid we know. And now hoid is possibly trying to reform adonalsium. And get his powers back.
  25. So, we all know that Nightblood appears at the end of WoR and is given to Szeth by Nin/Nale/Darkness I think Nightblood first shows up in WoK with the Madman/Taln and Hoid is there waiting for him. So are there any theories to how Nightblood passes from Hoid to Nin? I'm assuming Hoid took the sword as it's a regular shard blade that Dalinar recovers from his guards. I've checked all the WoB about Nightblood but can't find anything that also includes Hoid.
