Hi! I've been following posts on 17th shard for a while and haven't gotten around to creating an account until now. I've got a few theories of my own that I'm going to be posting later, after prusing certain threads making sure I'm not makeing a duplicate. Will be nice to converse with you guys in the future!

Hello hello, the Doctor's arrived in the cosmere! Anyway, hi, I've been lurking around the stormlight and mistborn forums for a few weeks now, starting a discussion or two, but now I suppose I'd come in properly and introduce myself. I'm a Sanderson fan...as you probably could tell. I've read every book Sanderson has written thus far, with my favorite series being the Stormlight series, with Mistborn era 1 a close second. Non cosmere favorites are Rithmatist and the Alcatraz series. Random other things I like are Doctor Who, as again, you probably could tell (Maybe I should set my title to Captain Obvious), and My little pony. heh. Oh and I'm from Malaysia. Hi! While not a theorist myself, I do love reading all those crazy theories we fans come up with. I tend to ask random, perhaps meta discussions such as Vin vs Iron Man, or trying to create trailers or posters for the Stormlight Archive (Possibly Mistborn as well). I also love writing fanfiction, although I haven't dabbled in cosmere fanfiction yet - but its a matter of time! BTW I am accepting prompts for writing if anyone has them. Also, I'm friendly (most of the time) and quite open to meeting new friends to discuss cosmere with! I love this place already, and I think I'll be very happy here.

Howdy, folks! Just joining up after hearing Brandon mention the site at a recent signing. I started out in the Fantasy world with C. S. Lewis and the Chronicles of Narnia (in 6th grade), moving on to J. R. R. Tolkien and the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings (high school freshman year), moving then to Terry Brooks and Shannara and Landover (the rest of high school), then to Robert Jordan and the Wheel of Time (senior year of high school, when Crown of Swords came out in paperback, until the end), which naturally introduced me to Brandon's work while I was in college. Now look at me, several years later, with a wonderful, large family, a steady career of a dozen years (seriously--I'm guessing a lot of us here are computer nerds), and even though I've branched out into non-fiction research topics, I still love to come home to some good ol' fantasy to relax at the end of the day. Or any time during the day, like while walking to work, or taking a break from work, or during lunch break at work... Honestly, I'd rather just read all day.

I have only read the Reckoners series, my friend Venture Mistborn talked me into getting a account.

Hi eeveryone. I'm Aidulin, and I just read a Brandon Sanderson book for the first time. I'm hooked, I think. The one I read was The Rithmatist, and there's only one so far in that series, so I was wondering which series you guys think I should read next? I know you'll all have ideas, but I want to get to know this fanbase a little better.

Hi and Hoid (some spoilers about cosmere stuff and WOR)
OdiYum posted a topic in Introduce Yourself!
Hi. First time posting here or anywhere, but I really do enjoy the connecting backstory between all of the cosmere works. I was just wondering if anyone has talked about Hoid's motivations. I personally think that Hoid is doing everything he can to get the shard worlds into direct conflict with Rayse, while crippling Rayse's ability to effectively war. The WoK letter made me think that Hoid had a personal grievance against Rayse. So far it seems like every world he has visited he has aided the magic wielders (and by extension their shards) whose intent opposes that of Odium. On Sel he helps Raodin's lady friend smuggle in weapons which eventually led to the re-establishment of Elantris, but there is no mention of him helping magic wielders of dominion (as far as I remember). On Scradiel, his actions lead to the defeat of Ruin, and the creation of Harmony, not only depriving Odium of a powerful ally (despite the fact that he doesn't want allies), but it also deprived him of a shard that he could pick up that would not drastically alter his intent. "Hatred leads to anger, anger leads to destruction (<---substitution) and so on." Now Rayse can't pick up Ruin, without getting preservation (without shattering Harmony, which I don't think he is strong enough to do directly (I have an IDEA what might start this ball rolling!)) On Roshar, Hoid is clearly picking sides against Rayse. He has stated that he is fighting against the father of hatred in WoR, but he would watch the world burn if he needed to. I believe (with little evidence), that Hoid is sick of the Cold War-esque events on Roshar for the past 5,000 years. I think that Hoid sped up the return of the KR in order to bring about the Everstorm. This desolation is the Final Desolation because it's the never ending desolation. Either Odium is defeated, or Odium wins, destroys Roshar and moves on to another shard system, creating a threat large enough to force the other shards (and the seventeenth shard) into overt action. Either way, Hoid get what he wants, which is war against Rayse. Sorry for the long post =/ PS Odium Reigns -
Well, hi everyone. I'm from Catalonia, Spain, and this is the first english forum I have never been at. While I have a decent english level, I'm still doing some big mistakes (and I'm not native, so I won't get some of the expressions you constantly use), but I think that joining this fansite after being around for a year worths it. Nowadays I have read all the Brandon's published works, and I even got White Sand and Aether of Night by mailing him, beeing TWoK my favourite book so far. While the translation complicates some aspects of the understanding of the cosmere, I got there when I read THoA and TWoK and I saw "something" in both books (you know) that took my curiosity up so I surfed the internet looking for information and here I am. That said, I hope to be fine there, and to debate the theories of this site with other users. Cya!
