  1. So Atium removes all powers right ? So suppose I spiked a mistborn and used it on myself . Would I became a Mistborn with all 16 powers ?? What if I spiked Tlr ? Would I become Fullborn , all 32 abilities and compounding included ? Would Tlr survive the process ? If he does , would he still be Fullborn ? Or would he become a normie human ? Would he be ' worse than a drab ' ? Would a single spike accomplish all this ?
  2. So with just one hemalurgic spike, Spook and Quellion ("The Citizen of Urtreau") could see and hear visions of Ruin impersonating Kelsier, Wax can communicate with Harmony (via earring), and in Mistborn: Secret History, With just two spikes, a a kandra is subject to the direct control of Ruin/Harmony - though by their own admission, they are "weaker than other hemalurgic constructs" in this regard. On the other hand, koloss have four and that's enough, and Inquisitors have at least ten, and Marsh has way more than even that ("upwards of twenty"). We've seen that using a "trellium" spike - an unknown god-metal - can work in new and different ways, both in terms of being invisible to Harmony, and it terms of what they can steal/do with just one spike (create mutants, allow Bleeder to steal Feruchemical and Allomantic abilities without a second spike). However, hemalurgy as a magical art is still fundamentally something drawing on Ruin's power, and so a second spike as small as Wax's earring turned into a bullet was enough to subject Bleeder to Harmony's control again, even though the other spike was trellium. The "spike count" included the trellium one, even if Harmony couldn't leverage that spike to see/communicate with Bleeder. Given that, how can Edwarn and Telsin have spiked themselves enough to gain multiple powers, both Allomantic and Feruchemical, without Harmony's understanding? In particular, Harmony should have been able to witness his interaction with the non-kandra, Trell-serving Faceless Immortal that blew him up. Then I remembered that Edwarn/Suit commented to Wax that "if you spike yourself too much, you become subject to Harmony's... interference", and that he is "limited to three boons, even if we have discovered how to make someone else be weak, while we gain the benefit." Meaning they have a way to have up to three spikes without Harmony's awareness. At first, I interpreted this as them just using trellium spikes to steal attributes, and that only after three spikes would the trellium nature of the spikes get superceded by the fundamental mechanics of hemalurgy. But then I noticed the comment "make someone else be weak", not "kill someone". We know the Set are not above the torture and killing of people for power and information; see what they did to Allik's crewmates. There must be a reason for Edwarn to use such an awkardly precise turn of phrase. Per a Tweet of Brandon, it is possible to "partially spike" someone with hemalurgy: And what would be "worse than being a drab"? I can think of something else we've seen. Perhaps the twisted, trellium-spiked hemalurgic constructs that Wax and TenSoon encountered in the original kandra Homeland in the caverns under Elendel are the original Allomancers or Feruchemists the Set have used as "donors" to steal attributes? First spiked, but not killed, in such a way as to steal their power, with that spike being given to another person - and then being given another trellium spike to complete their transformation? Brrr.
  3. So, I was eating lunch, thinking about Realmatic stuff. Then I had an epiphany about F-Nicrosil. It, "Stores Investiture". This is very vague, obviously. Technically everything in the cosmere is "made of" investiture, or could be converted to it with mass-energy-investiture equivalence. Then it hit me like an Awakened Sword. The spiritweb is also Investiture. So you could store a part of your soul inside F-Nicrosil. Or... A part of someone else's soul? What if you tried to store the fragment of Spiritweb contained inside a hemalurgic spike that you had "equipped" (for want of a better term) at the time? If you stored your Identity in aluminum completely, could you make an unkeyed Nicrosilmind with a hemalurgic charge stored within? This, i propose, is how a Medallion works: Step 1: Obtain Aluminum and Nicrosil feruchemy, however you see fit. (probably hemalurgically.) Step 2: Spike someone's feruchemical power out of them, spike yourself with it. Step 3: blank your Identity with Aluminum, store the bit of Spiritweb inside the Nicrosil. Step 4: Profit? Now of course this has a few bumps in it, such as "how does anyone even tap the Nicrosil to begin with?" But with the way this is set up, there is an Identityless piece of spiritweb inside of Nicrosil. I believe it was said in BoM that the medallions work because everyone has the slightest bit of Feruchemy inside them... I'd love to have the exact quote, of course. With that in mind, it might be that the piece of spiritweb is reaching out towards the natural smidgen of feruchemy inside the user's spiritweb, trying to bind to it like it used to be with the actual Hemalurgic spike. A bit of a rough hypothesis, I know. Assuming Nicrosil works most like Copper in that there is a discreet, well defined "thing" being stored/withdrawn, rather than a "flow" of "attribute" like strength, this would be more possible. Edit: found the WoB that confirms Nicrosil is Copper-like in Feruchemy. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/316/#e11247 Ask about any other flaws with this setup, I'm happy to continue theorycrafting with you all!

    A Messy Process

    From the album: Mistborn Doodles

Doodled this for Inktober 2019, "Spiked."
  5. On-screen, we've seen Inquisitor Marsh exhibit three Feruchemical abilities: using pewter (he grows beefy while choking Vin in Fadrex City), steel (he blurs in speed while fighting Elend), and gold (multiple instances of healing). He is implied to have gained the spike for F-gold as part of his original set of Inquisitor spikes, before Ruin went about massively upgrading him to use him as his primary pawn. As the Coppermind entry notes, we can infer he has a spike for F-atium, as he's documented by WoB to have survived into Era 2 (and will last for a good while further) by Compounding atium the way TLR had done. Why Ruin saw fit to use up one of a small number of Feruchemists available to spike out attributes from to give Marsh a spike for F-atium is unknown; the most obvious one being, he wanted to continue to use Marsh around the Cosmere after destroying Scadrial, and thus wanted to ensure his longevity. If that's the case, we can also infer Marsh has a spike for F-bronze, with which he can Compound wakefulness. Why? For the same reason that TLR must have constantly tapped an infinite bronzemind: once past his mortal lifespan he cannot fall asleep, as one cannot tap a metalmind unconsciously, and he needs to maintain a constant draw on an atiummind to stay alive with The Rashek Maneuver. So concurrent with that constant drawing of youth must be a constant drawing of wakefulness.
  6. I was browsing and i found this post . And I began to think the most humane part of hemalurgy is getting a spike driven right through your heart. The really brutal part is that it rips ur soul or atleast takes a chunk of it. This knowledge would also become widespread and in my opinion atleast , this makes it completely different from organ donation. Do we know what happens to the souls of ppl used to make spikes, do they suffer ? Do the souls even exist after being ripped apart ? How do they look in the cognitive realm post death ? Do we have any WoBs on this ? In secret history , we see the cognitive shadow of a koloss and only the spike reciever has one. The chunks of the other souls don't show up in any way ( i thought they would manifest in a Spren like manner ) , so is it possible that the part of the soul not bound by the spike simply dissolves into nothing ? If so, is it a fate worse than death and The Beyond ? Also is it the part of the soul responsible for sapience that's attached to the spike ? Is the chunk of the soul still aware ? If so , are the detrimental side effects of hemalurgy due to the spiked soul somehow knowing what happened to it and fighting against the recipient soul , rather than the recepiant soul rejecting the spike or is it a combination of both cases ? ?
  7. Ok so the spikes required for making Kandra are easy to make right. I mean the metals are plentiful and u need to ordinary humans to get them. Not allomancers or feruchemists. Then why are there so few Kandra. I mean , yes they are nonviolent and might have a stigma towards hemalurgy but still I'm sure u could find thousands of poor or unfortunate ppl on the verge of dying due to trauma , disease ,etc ,who could be euthanized , even as a service to them. Also u could just steal some koloss spikes. Things would have been even easier in era1 following the Lord rulers death and the chaos unleashed in it's wake , I mean ok tlr's death was unexpected and deeply grievous to them and then ruin got released so they had a lot to think about. But even in era2 , where couples like tensoon and MeLaan , gave been in a relationship for centuries u don't see them hankering after children. Seems strange to me . Can anyone give a good reason why this is so ? Edit : wait MeLaan and tensoon have a dad daughter dynamic. damnation , I didn't know that. I thought they were a couple. But still if tensoon the gruff old dog could adopt a new Kandra , why don't the other more pg13 ones ?
  8. Ok , hey , I'm a new guy . Joined today actually. Hum, please move this to the proper section if I post this into a wrong forum or something. And I confess that it's probably wrong since there are WoBs directly contradicting my theories about the hemalurgic metals. (Can someone send me those if u have them ? ) Still I thought it made an interesting theory .So here's my theory : So I was looking through the wiki and found that the 4 blessings were listed as hemalurgic iron , tin , zinc and copper. But I disagree. the mistwraiths were created from full feruchemists , so I think they needed a part of a feruchemist's spiritweb to work on a Kandra. So I think the reason there were so few Kandra in each generation was because u needed hemalurgic spikes made by killing feruchemists. Therefore the four blessings would be : A). The blessing of strength was H-Pewter, which steals feruchemical physical powers. B). The blessing of awareness was H-Brass, which steals feruchemical cognitive powers . C). The blessing of presence was H-gold , which steals feruchemical hybrid powers D). The blessing of stability was H-aluminium , which steals all powers. Points in favor of my theory : 1). Hemalurgic copper , iron , zinc and tin steal human charecteristics. Normal humans. Not metalborn. Tlr didn't really care much about skaa and used them to make spikes indiscriminately for creating koloss. Why then limit the number of Kandra per generation to a hundred ? More Kandra meant more loyal subjects and spies and better atium Management and conservation. 2). Feruchemists on the other hand were rare , rarer than allomancers. Hence it would make sense why so few spikes were available to the kandra. 3).If the Kandra were rebellious , wouldn't they just steal spikes from like the treasury or from the koloss or by killing or mercykilling humans ,( I mean hey there were lots of impoverished or crippled skaa who would have been almost dead due to starvation , the mistsnapping , war , gang violence or tlr's general tyranny , who could euthanized as an act of Mercy during era 1 . And even during era 2 ) and make more Kandra ? I mean , that seems like a serious lapse in security by tlr. 4). Why are Kandra with the blessing of stability so rare ? I mean , zinc spikes should be as common as iron. Wouldn't it make more sense if this blessing was due to aluminum , a rare metal which might have been experimentally used a few times and then abandoned , due to lack of the resource. 5). I think , that aluminum is perhaps the most stable and inert of all the metals. Something that is immune to all ( ?? ) forms of investiture. Wouldn't it make sense that this would grant the blessing of stability which supposedly makes a Kandra less susceptible to external control. 6). Marasi notes that Ru Luur's spike was probably pewter. 7). In many ways it seems Kandra are superior to humans . They are usually peaceful , great at defense , functionally immortal , can change morphology to suit thier professions ( Spoiler for WoR ) Indeed , if it weren't for the mind control. ( spoiler for oathbringer ) It seems callous of Rashek to ignore this possiblity. With allomancy becoming weaker with every generation , knowledge of mind control and duralumin being suppressed and tlr himself running out of both sanity and his atium compounding efficiency , it might have been possible for Kandra to rise in rebellion. Even assassinate tlr and the Inquisitors themselves. Especially , if Paalm revealed how easy it was to infiltrate the ranks of the Inquisitors. Marsh did the same thing too remember. Several of the younger generations clamored for change and the kandra themselves hated being sequestered in some dank caves. Points against my theory : 1). Perhaps tlr was afraid of Kandra overrunning humans . Or didn't wanna overcrowd them in the pits and hence limited the number of new ones per generation . 2). Even if the Kandra were rebellious , it should have been easy for tlr , the Inquisitors , mistborn or soother mobs to get them under control. But then again , perhaps they might have removed one spike in order to remain immune to mind control , but it would have been harrowing for the kandra. 3). There seems to be WoBs stating that it was the normal power stealing H-spikes , ie, zinc ,tin, etc ,that were the blessings. This is , if true ,actually the most damning piece of evidence against my theory. 4). Then there's the possibility that the kandra were never a security risk. I mean even 3 centuries after the catacendre , most Kandra are peaceful and Van Dell just simply hates violence. It seems only the third generation and a few like MeLaan are the exceptions. They might actually hate themselves for being hemalurgic creations, but still if all one needs is a iron spike , then couldn't they mercykill some humans and create young ones or scrounge some from s dead or dying koloss ? Potential possiblities if my theory is true : 1). Sazed is afraid of the kandra. Hence he has had the mistwraiths eradicated , resusticated into humans or atleast removed from thier sentient brethren. Whether the kandra like this or not is impossible to foresee. 2). On one hand , the kandra seem to be peaceful creatures who willingly choose suicide even tho they are immortal. 3). On the other hand , the kandra have had centuries of practice acting and hiding thier true feelings. Then there was the dream / religious prophecy Ten Soon told Vin about Kandra ruling Scadrial once all the humans were dead. Paalm's anger at Sazed might have been atleast partially due to Sazed's oppression of the kandra. In some ways , Sazed's treatment of the kandra is worse than tlr's. 4). Perhaps some Kandra are truly loyal to Sazed , but as we saw in HoA , not all Kandra have the same view. So perhaps it's possible that some factions among the kandra including the world Hoppers?? are planning to oust him and gain control of Scadrial. Perhaps that's how Paalm first came in contact with Trell . Perhaps the ' faceless immortals ' Trell has , according to Edwarn ladrian are actually Kandra world Hoppers who defected to Trell or odium or whoever else , in order to gain greater autonomy for the kandra . 5). Finally we see Paalm using metalborn abilities and a statement saying that she had infiltrated Inquisitors. I really doubt you can infiltrate the ministry of Inquisition without displaying metalborn abilities. So is Sazed lying ? Tlr had reason to contain such knowledge from the kandra but does Sazed have similar reasons ? Also perhaps the spike which grants metalborn abilities might be aluminium . I mean if H-aluminum steals all powers then could it be possible that as a blessing it could grant all powers or well one power each. Perhaps this is also the reason the kandra themselves are oblivious of this knowledge since aluminum is super rare and aluminum spikes even more so. Yep , no proof for this. Just tinfoil. And Wax's observation of Paalm's spike seems to refute this reasoning. But then again Wax was like totally depressed at the time and wasn't able to run tests on it and the kandra removed it soon enough. Maybe Paalm just mixed in something else in the spike to change it's colouring , in order to fool ppl.
  9. It seems that various combinations of spikes can make an Inquisitor, and you can keep adding more - Marsh had 11 at the end of the first book (2 in eyes, 1 linchpin in shoulders, 8 in ribs) and had 20-plus by the end of the trilogy. But koloss seem to be always the same, 4 iron spikes. Why? If someone accumulates spikes, what's the line between human and Inquisitor, and what does crossing that line mean? Maybe the point where you become controlled by Ruin or Harmony (Mr Suit says 3 spikes are safe, 4 aren't)? The point where you need a "linchpin spike" to survive? What if you give an Inquisitor 4 iron spikes? Does it turn into a koloss, just die, become a super-strong Inquisitor or what?
  10. Can atium future-sight be used to determine Hemalurgic bind points? The atium can be used to determine the effects of future actions in a very short window, so could you use this to find bind points, even if you didn't know what it would end up doing?
  11. According to the Hemalurgy table Lerasium "steals all powers". My read on this is, that since it is Preservation's God Metal it will preserve the powers it steals. So does this mean it ignores the usual rule of "one power per spike"? And if yes could you use a Lerasium spike on a Full Feruchemist to steal all of his powers? (or for that matter a Mistborn, but that would be idiotic) Also would there still be some power loss?
  12. Punny title aside, would it work? That is: can Hemalurgy spike out Surges (either from the surgebinder or their Spren) and grant them to someone with the right bind point? I imagine the metal most apt for this would be Nicrosil (Steals Investiture), and I think it would be more likely for the target to have to be the Spren, which would probably mean taking your spikes to the Cognitive Realm... Making it a bit of a hassle unless you have a method to get in there (Surge of Transportation, Oathgate, Perpendicularity). If this IS possible, what surges would you spike yourself with? I would personally go with Abrasion and Gravitation, because it would let me constantly slide "downhill" by lashing myself diagonally forwards and slicking my shoes. No skating effort required, just a mastery of partial lashings. Possibly more stormlight-efficient than just flying with Gravitation, too. It's also possible that you would have to put these surge spikes into your own Spren, in which case I would use a Cryptic and spike them with Abrasion and Gravitation, since their Oaths are just truths about yourself (and not, like, protecting people. Cause that would be a bit restrictive to Hemalurgy). And yes, I know, I still have to speak the First Ideal, but if these surges give me the power to save more lives than the spren I spike, isn't it worth it? Strength before weakness, after all. ...Kind of a tangent but I just wanted to preempt arguments like that.
  13. My question really all comes down to what would happen if a being like Kelsier, circa era 2, was stabbed by Vyre's knife? Would the same thing happen that happened to Jezrien? I think the heralds are preserved by Honor's investiture and they seem to have the perk of automatic incarnation after death, and Kelsier, preserved by Preservation had to get himself a body somehow to return to the Physical Realm, but like, would that knife kill him for good, or would it have no effect since he, you know, doesn't reincarnate anyway, but is just preserved as a cognitive shadow? I couldn't find any WOB directly relating to this.
  14. So I've been thinking about Hemalurgy a lot recently. One of my latest questions is about a multi-metal spike (like how the Bands of Mourning are a multi-metalmind). If you made a spike of all 16 metals (or, 15; adding aluminum would be kinda dumb), would it work? would the spike steal all of the things that its metals would steal at once? or would just the metal on the tip of the spike get charged, and the rest be inert? But then, what if the metals were radially arranged, such that all 15 spanned from tip to spike-head? Assuming that it DOES work and steals EVERYTHING that hemalurgy can from the donor... What now? You have this super spike, where do you... put it? What the heck kind of bind point does a spike like this even have? ...The heart? Maybe where the steel Linchpin of the Inquisitors goes? Moreover, could you do this with the Kandra Blessings (assuming you had the knowledge and means to turn the spikes into actual Blessings)? A simpler version of this might be a Lerasium/Atium multispike, since that would steal all the human aspects and all the powers (allomancy/feruchemy). But you'd miss stuff like Chromium and Duralumin's hemalurgic effects, right?
  15. We have a few hints about the creation of Nightblood, and the comment that it was a fairly unique convergence of conditions not known or intended by its creator that would be difficult to replicate. One thing that's unusual about Nightblood is that it "contain's Ruin's investiture". So how can Nightblood contain Ruin's investiture without being composed of atium? Simple: he's a hemalurgic spike. But how is that possible? To be a hemalurgic spike, he'd have to be created with Intent, and furthermore, a hemalurgic spike steals from A and staples onto B - who's the A, and where's the B? Here's my thinking: Hemalurgy works anywhere in the Cosmere, as Ruin's power is "everywhere" at the Spiritual level. It requires intent, the right metal for the spike, and the right placement of the spikes in the donor A and the target B. Before being Awakened, Nightblood was simply made of steel (per Warbreaker itself, ch. 53, cited in the Coppermind wiki). Now imagine Shashara, a leading figure in the Manywar, going about creating the first Awakened sword, a Shardblade equivalent. She amasses thousands upon thousands of Breaths from her followers, as Vahr did, but drawing upon a whole country. Breath retains a bit of the identity of the donor: Vahr's large stash collected from his rebel followers gave him a sense of resolve stemming from their common cause. She then either takes a dark turn, or acquiesces to a dark suggestion from someone else, to do a standard symbolic gesture when making a sword of war: quenching it in the blood of an enemy. Hemalurgically, steel steals human physical ability (it's what goes toward making a koloss). She takes that newly forged steel blade, and stabs it through the heart of a living person. Ta-da, inadvertent hemalurgy! She draws it forth and Invests it with thousands of Breath to Awaken it with the Command, DESTROY EVIL. The effect of hemalurgy seeks for a Spiritweb to attach onto, but it finds only Breath. But, lots and lots of Breath. Lots and lots of Breath with a common cause: GATHER INVESTITURE. Perhaps enough to form a kind of "Spirtweb canvas" for the hemalurgy to staple onto the sword itself? ...With a bit of extra Endowment? What do you think?
  16. This fic explores a thought I had one day, about whether Hemalurgy would be used in wars as a way to slow down the rampant waste of resources and human life. It's written from the perspective of a soldier reflecting on the war--though since I didn't do any research, it comes across as a sort of cross between World War I and the Vietnam War, but without any of the accompanying hopelessness and poignancy. For ratings, this one's either PG-13 or R.
  17. I'm mainly placing this in cosmere because of the WoB that needs to be included. So to start with, we've been given this WoB on the progression of technology in Scadrial. Spoilered for length, followed by the relevant portion. So the we had step one of the Metallic Arts, which was just using the powers themselves. We're in the process of seeing step 2, which is technology that relies on the interaction of those powers in the form of Medallions and the bands... Which I happen to believe relies heavily on Hemalurgy But step 3... Step 3 is where things get interesting... And also where I think things take a decidedly dark turn. Allomancy has diluted over time, and the genes have gotten weaker, but this has reached a saturation point. At least it has in the north... The south is decidedly weaker. There's an important point about allomancy in the south though, just like allomancy prior to Rashek. So what happens when the north and south mix heavily and the allomantic genes dilute further? All scadrians, power or not, have the seeds of the Metallic Arts in them... And understanding of Hemalurgy, now that it's being used is going to grow, whether Harmony approves or not. So what I think is going to happen, is that knowledge of the Metallic Arts is going to increase to the point that Hemalurgy can take those seeds from anyone. A single person obviously isn't going to grant you anything usable... But they aren't limited to a single person. People are fantastic at rationalization, and giving up a piece of yourself on your deathbed to better the lives of everyone is an easy thing to rationalize. Especially if that gift you're giving is what enables all of the fantastic technology that enables FTL travel, and who knows what other amazing and miraculous feats. So in short I think that the basis of technology in the future of Scadrial is going to rely on Hemalurgy, and it will be societally ingrained and accepted by the majority, and adamantly protested and opposed by others. Era 4 scadrian technology will be the Cosmere's Soylent Green. Edit: just going to insert this post here to make things more clear. Let me try to clarify a bit, because I think that as the genes dilute further, and the technology progresses, the magics generally are going to be much less things that people are born with, and much more focused on the technology that will become pervasive. I think it will be known that the "gift" that people give up is the basis for the proliferation of the technologies that allow everyone to live in a world of wonders. So I don't think it will be an attempt to assuage guilt. They'll be taught that it's just the way that things are and it will be accepted because if there is one thing that humans are good at, it's rationalizing away the things we should question. I don't think the majority will believe there's anything to feel guilty about.
  18. I just finished the Bands of Mourning and one question that keeps bothering me is the role of Feruchemy in South Scadrial. From my understanding only the Terris people had Feruchemy. So unless Kelsier brought Terrismen with him to breed with the locals, the only way for the people of SoScadrial to create open Metalminds would be Hemalugical Spikes. However, over the course of 300 years the Spikes would wear their charges out even transitioning from person to person. Thoughts or solutions? This is really bugging me!!! Also, this is my first post so if this is in the wrong thread let me know.
  19. This piece from the HoA epigraphs caught my attention. Bolding Mine. This seems to imply that you can use the same spike on multiple people to increase its power. Does this mean that you could kill multiple Coinshots with the same spike and then gain steel Allomancy at Rashek/Elend levels or beyond?

Not actually too sure where to put this, it's more an idea concept than anything. But, this poor girl's got spikes in her so I'm throwin' it in with the rest of my Alleyverse stuff. In other news my Google search history now includes "blood from puncture wound."
  21. What would be the effect of a mistborn burning a piece of metal with hemalurgic charge? I have a few thoughts on what may happen and welcome some more. My theories are as of yet: 1. Nothing new will happen as you have too conflicting magic system interacting. The metal would still be able to produce it's allomantic effects, but the hemalurgic charge would not add anything as the two systems are diametrically opposed. Perhaps the hemalurgic charge could even interfere with the allomancy in some way and lessen it's effectiveness? 2. Burning metal with a hemalurgic charge will recieve an increase of the power stored, similar to compounding. This could take several forms I suppose. The allomancer's allomancy could become more potent (although I doubt that because of point one). It could somehow amplify the hemalurgic charge, fuelling the hemalurgy with allomancy, again as seen in compounding. (I don't like this one as much because I don't really see it working.) 3. The hemalurgic charge is applied to the allomancer. This one is weird but I thought that perhaps burning the charged metal kind of exposed your spirit web and allowed the patch of someone elses spirit web to latch onto yours. This one is really weird and I'm not sure if it would even work. But if it does then that'd be an interesting way to get around stabbing spikes into your body. You would of course still experience the effect of hemalurgy, just without the metal spikes. This may also face issues when it comes to where it attaches to your soul, because it may attach randomly and result in incorrect placement. 4. When burning the hemalurgically charged metal, the fragment of the spirit web stored is released to return to the rest of the soul wherever that may be (likely beyond). So they're my thoughts, I am curious to see what you guys think.
  22. So, we have some Hemalurgy on Roshar. Not only is what Moash did considered at least partially Hemalurgy, but we have apparently seen some people who have Hemalurgy. Who have we seen with Hemalurgy? An Inquisitor? A Kandra? Something I'm curious about is if the dagger Moash used was made of Odiums godmetal, if he has one, and how this somehow stole the part of Jezriens soul that makes him go back to Damnation when he dies. Another thing that REALLY stuck out to me when reading Oathbringer was this line I feel like Odium was using some form of Hemarlurgy to transform Dalinar into his champion, giving him acces to the other surges, and giving him the "9 Shadows" this is supported by this WoB Thoughts?
  23. I've only recently finished Elantris and am quite interested in the Elantrian magic system and so have been developing a character for fun. However, if I wish to worldhop as said Elantrian character (who wouldn't if they could) I face the slight disadvantage of being away from Elantris and, oh I don't know, the magic not working. So the crux of my inquiry is, is it possible to somehow capture or store the Dor in some sort of vessel to carry around with you in your adventures? Would these be nicrosilminds? Spheres? Some other Thing™? I do hope it's possible, otherwise Elantrians prove to be pretty worthless worldhoppers.
  24. Marsh had the ability to do both atium Allomancy and Feruchemy. Which spikes gave those since atium isn’t legit temporal/hybrid metal.
  25. I know there's already a thread right now about the ethics of Hemalurgy, but it primarily deals with those getting spiked, and whether they can recover. Based on two pages of results for "Hemalurgy," and seeing nothing about industrial Hemalurgy, I decided to make a thread for speculating about Hemalurgy's use on a large scale. Hemalurgy isn't super efficient. It can be used to kill one person and preserve their power for a few more people until said power becomes so small as to be negligible. With the use of Feruchemical gold, a spikee can be spiked multiple times without dying--though they probably suffer from so many scars that using gold is impractical. If Hemalurgy were to be treated like organ donorship is today, it would clearly not have a large supply. Lots of people abhor the idea of getting spiked in the chest, even if it helps their fellow Scadrian/worldhopper/their country as a whole. Because of this low supply, efficiency in distributing and using Hemalurgy is critical. Ethics are a part of this discussion, particularly because Hemalurgy causes physical, as well as psychological, discomfort. How does an advanced society use Hemalurgy, and how can it do so without committing war crimes? There are several choices regarding the distribution of spikes--help the military, or improve infrastructure, or perhaps safely remove spikes from people after their task is done? Does a Pewter-Tin Allomancer rifleman retire? Should a Steel-Compounding rescue operator return their spikes when off-duty? Is gold plentiful enough for use (like an IV) in any hospital, or is it reserved for the elite or the workers with dangerous but irreplaceable jobs? Can people charge for, or buy their own, spikes? What should be the Hemalurgic appendum to the Geneva Convention, and how should ethics be weighed over efficiency?
