  1. As a Truthwatcher and somebody interested in linguistics, as I was recently reading through the threads in which Glyph phonemes and the Women’s Script were decoded, I decided I wanted to try decoding the name of my Knight Radiant order in Alethi based on it’s glyph because it seemed like a fun thing to do. This is almost certainly wrong, but I wanted to see how likely others thought my transliteration was. Glyph with my guess at glyph phonemes, second image is glyph with phonemes written over part of it: Which is in turn primarily based on the Calligraphic phonemes and to a lesser extent (for the F and the B the standard and hybrid sets. This would put the name of the order in Alethi at one of several things. The options that I found were: Nufbo (half of the glyph is read from right to left, which would make sense due to the fact that the glyphs in the key are facing the direction of the phonemes on the right half of the glyph) Nufbobfun (entire glyph read from right to left) Obfun (half of the glyph is read from left to right, this one sounds the most Alethi to me, this one and “Obfunufbo” have added credibility, I think, because the Women’s Script is read from left to right. Obfunufbo (entire glyph is read from left to right) Nufob (Nufbo but with the f and o reversed) Nufobofun (Nufbobfun but with the f and the o reversed) Bofun (Obfun but with the f and the o reversed) Bofunufob (Obfunufbo but with the f and the o reversed) Anyway, what do you all think? Which one of these seem the most likely? Do any of them seem likely?
  2. So I'm getting a tattoo of the expanded glyphs that are stamped into the front of the hardcover Stormlight books. Because of this I've paid a lot of attention to them and I've noticed that the Windrunner/ Jezrien glyph look a lot like a helmet. I am looking for help identifying what the other symbols could be. Please offer any help you can? We only have eight of the ten so far
  3. I have a woodworking project, and I am thinking of inlaying glyphs from the stormlight archive into some of the pieces. I would cut out the inlays and mill the pockets with an inexpensive CNC mill, so I'm looking for something relatively simple. I need glyphs for Forest/Wood, Mountain/Metal/Ore, Hills/Clay/Brick, Pasture/Sheep/Wool, Field/Farm/Wheat/Grain, and maybe Desert. For wood, metal, and brick, I'm thinking of palah, kak, and tanat, respectively. Though tanat is pretty complicated. Palah could also fit with wheat/grain. There aren't that many glyphs listed in the coppermind, so I might just be out of luck, unless a 17th shard scholar is interested in phonetically constructing glyphs. And if someone is interested in stylizing glyphs for this purpose, I would be eternally grateful. To be clear, this is purely a personal art project. I will not be selling anything.
  4. Hello, So in order to celebrate my love for Sanderson i want to get a signet ring engraved with a glyph. I was toying with getting Bridge Four, but think creating a new glyph would be more interesting. I don't have the skills to create a glyph so was wondering if one of you lovely people would volunteer to? What I'm thinking is to get the first oath of the radiants as a glyph on the ring. So using the symbols for L, S, J, B. (E.g. Life before death, Strength before weakness, Journey before destination. With the before's in each sentence all represented by the last B). I could do a design using standard Alethi glyths but was hoping for a more stylized representation, more like the ancient glyphs. Any budding artists up for the challenge?
  5. Y'all might remember @Harakeke's thread from a while back about glyph translation. I decided I will try and translate the Radiant, Surge, and Fundamental Glyphs. Yes, I know the WoB about the original glyphs not being supposed to translate. Yes, I realize it'll probably be nonsense. Here goes. Notes: I am using an online editor called Photopea. It is free and works the same, and as well as photoshop. I know this because I have worked with photoshop. I am retrieving glyph translations from the Coppermind. Any and all assistance with this project is appreciated. Update 1: 3-19-19 Started translation on ten fundamental glyphs. Finished with 3/10. Letters in parenthesis are unconfirmed or not existing but added for understanding (Like Thaylen)
  6. From the album: Bored Doodles

As an honorary Elsecaller, I thought I’d try to draw the Elsecaller glyph. I’m just going to say how glad I am to not be a woman on Roshar. Those things are storming hard to draw. And to memorize them no less.
  7. I finally got my Khakh glyph mask painted! I do Historical European Martial Arts and study Liechtenauer's German Longsword. Khakh means "determination", which is something that's important to me throughout all of my training and sparring matches. Hope you guys like it! Painted by my longsword instructor. Thanks to Isaac from Dragonsteel for making all of the awesome glyphs in the Stormlight Archives.
  8. From the album: Roshar Cake

My Roshar inspired cake. Happy Birthday! The white and black glyphs are the Alethi way of saying “Happy" and "Birthday." Well, one way. As fans know, the Alethi alphabet can be tricky.

  9. From the album: Roshar Cake

The gems are printed on edible paper, placed on fondant octagons. I used the octagons to help represent the planes of cut gemstones, which as fans know, will hold more Stormlight. Glyphs on the gemstones are pulled from art by Awesomeness Summoned on the 17th Shard. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/gallery/image/339-gemstones/ The smokestone image came from the chart created by libdragon on the 17th Shard from Isaac’s base image of the Double Eye. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/gallery/image/426-surges-and-order-guide/

  10. this is a decoration on the wall where I work! (it uploaded sideways.) I feel like I'm living in the Shattered Plains! I know who the voidbringers, according to Jasnah, are here! And does anyone know how to rotate uploaded photos???
  11. Here is Isaac's rendition of the khakh glyph! It means "determination" and is a glyph that appears in The Way of Kings as a part of a glyphpair on Amaram's banners.
  12. Just a little doodle I threw together.

  14. From the album: Stormlight Archive Sketches

A quick sketch of the Order of Windrunners glyph.

    Cosmere Symbol

I've noticed a new Cosmere symbol appearing in several places lately, but I can't seem to find where it has come from. Does anyone know the origin of this symbol, and if possible a source / official proof? More interestingly - what do we all think it means?

    Tendendah Glyph

Just a little something I put together for an upcoming game set loosely within the Cosmere.
  17. So I spent a good hour and a half doing this and I feel quite proud. I did this to tie in with the cosmere theme of my halloween with my mistcloak. I avoided doing the sas nahn glyphs because it might be a bit awkward explaining why my pumpkin said slave on it either way, I hope that you all like it!

  19. What two different glyphs/symbols are displayed behind/under Kaladin after he says the words of the Third Ideal? The first looks like a pair of wings (while he is in the hallway), and the second (after he drops down) looks like a sword . I am guessing one is the Knights Radiant.... the wings? And the sword is the Windrunners from the 10 orders illustration on Brandon's site. I am mostly curious about the winged sigil/glyph/symbol. I have the audiobooks, so if there is a Web link to an image, I would really appreciate it.
  20. Does the Glyph of Rending* have anything to do with Rending**? *Makes Chalklings able to affect objects **Turns people into Epics
  21. Sennah

    Shash

Combination of Freedom, Bridge four, and dangerous. Hopefully it doesn't look too tribal.
