  1. Laonin walked through the Alleycity. Since becoming both literally homeless and one of the Homeless, he had been looking for a suitable place to claim for his own. He had come across many people in this strange place, from the DA to TUBA to any other number of other Homeless. He tried to mind his own business for the most part, as getting involved only seemed to end in death and despair. He hadn't been here long but for the time that he had, he had heard rumors of a great war which had happened in the past that threatened this entire place. A war which it still seemed to be recovering from. He passed ruined buildings, people huddled in corners, and others who rushed from place to place, either needing to be somewhere or needing to be away from somewhere else. There were of course many powerful people in this city. They went about their business, doing important things in important places with important people. Running around waving magic circles in the air, or shining bright with some inner light, or getting into fights with other people. Of course when fights between powerful people happened, those around without power seemed to suffer even more. Most of the people in this place seemed more concerned with trying to spike unsuspecting travelers with sweet delights, or trying to stop the people doing that, or creating strife between guilds. That isn't to say there weren't people out there trying to serve the greater good. There was at least one hospital set up that he had seen, but the care that had been given to most residents of the Alleycity was lacking in his opinion. Buildings had been left in rubble, people without homes. Countless dead caused by power hungry people with no care for the common folk. As far as Laonin could tell there was no central government to this city, and that meant there was no one keeping chaos in check, or rebuilding what had been lost here. He walked up to a ruined building he had been studying for several weeks. It seemed as though during the 7 day war it had been destroyed by flying rubble from an explosion in the distance. He had explored as much of it as he could get to, and had asked the few remaining denizens of this area for as much detail as they could remember. He pulled out his toolkit and set to work once again, carving into soulstone. He would restore this building, and hopefully with it at his disposal he could continue to restore the ruined parts of this city to their former glory. He took the soulstamp he had been working on for weeks, now finally finished, and pressed it to the cornerstone. The seal sunk into the stone, and he could almost feel the building trying to determine if his work was good enough for it to allow the change to happen. Suddenly the ruined building before him was replaced with a sturdy, well kept forge. "Well, that took long enough," Laonin muttered, "I should have just tried telling the darned thing the explosion missed it in the first place. Of course it still wanted to be in working order!" Wiping his hand on his pants, Laonin walked through the now intact doorway, surveying what he saw before him. The building seemed well built of course, one of the reasons he had chosen it in the first place. Something that had been created well was all the more likely to want to return to the vision its maker had had for it in the first place. He walked over to the anvil, and was pleased to see that the rust which had previously been coating its surface was now gone. It seemed it had considered itself a part of this place, and when the roof had repaired itself, came to the conclusion that the rains wouldn't have been able to reach it. It was a decently sized room, with lots of hooks and shelves on the walls for tools and equipment. Most of those were missing, either destroyed or looted by people trying to scrounge for valuables. That suited him just fine, he preferred to use his own tools anyway. Now to get himself situated. ----- A sharp ringing sound echoed out the front door, almost like the beating of a heart, a sign that this place had come back to life, and once again its blood was pumping. Laonin stood over the anvil, beating a hunk of metal with his hammer, forcing the impurities out of it. He did this for the time it took for the metal to start cooling and then shoved it back in the forge to heat up again, piling more charcoal on it. While it heated he perused the room, taking in the changes he had made to it the last few weeks. He had moved all of his belongings in, meager as they were, and the place had an almost homey feel to it. He had of course been concerned that the building would relapse into rubble, but after the first night passed without incident came to the conclusion that he had been correct in his assessment that the building wanted to return to its intended purpose. He had since been refitting his tools, as they had been through some tough wear and tear since his last chance to repair them. He had also been making good use of one of his soulcasters, converting some nearby rubble into iron with which to forge. Some would argue he could have simply soulcast it into steel directly, and cut out the purifying process, but he never really trusted a fabrial to do what he could do on his own. He trusted his own hands. Thankfully there was still a supply of charcoal in the back room, as it had been blocked off previously from looters by the rubble. He didn't quite have the skill with a soulcaster to create coal. Plus he had heard that excessive use of soulcasters could have ill effect on the nerves, so he tried to avoid it as much as he could. Which meant he would need to find a way to keep his metal supplies stocked. Something for a different day, he concluded, as he retrieved the now glowing metal from the forge and continued to hammer it into steel. After several hours of hard labor, Laonin cleaned and hung his tools on the wall, and put the forge to rest, to be reawakened tomorrow. He then ate some dinner in the sparse living quarters on the second floor, and set out, toolbox in hand. He had found his next renovation project, a tall building which seemed to have been crushed by something large, given the enormous footprint left nearby. While most of the building was destroyed, the first floor was relatively intact, and housed several families of people who had nowhere else to go. He spent the remainder of his day inspecting the building for damage, taking note of anything and everything that could affect structural integrity once it was repaired. Thankfully there seemed to be some records of what this building had looked like before its destruction, which made his task a whole lot easier. As he was working a rugged looking woman approached him. "What are you doing?" she asked, looking at Laonin making measurements and writing down notes on a sketch pad. "I'm trying to determine how easy this mess will be to clean up. This building used to be able to house a dozen families comfortably, near as I can tell. Now there's a handful lying about in the dirt, and with the holes in the walls it can't be much warmer in here that out there anyway." Laonin replied. The woman looked surprised for a moment. "You mean you're going to rebuild this. Where will we stay when you tear it down? Do you know how few buildings there are with even this much room? Why not build somewhere else that won't disrupt those few living here, and let us be." she said turning away. "I don't intend to tear it down, I'm simply going to fix it where it stands. And seeing as how there doesn't seem to be anyone barging in with deeds of ownership, you'll be first in line to claim housing once it's done." The woman stopped and turned back toward Laonin, a flicker of hope in her eyes. "Really? You're really going to fix it? Why would you do that?" she said, a hint of suspicion in her voice. Despite the hope she felt, her life had been hard enough to know no one would do something like this without a reason. "In my opinion, this place has seen enough power hungry men to last an eternity. I figured someone needed to step up and fix the damage they've caused. I know one man can't fix everything. But even if I only help one person, then that's good enough for me. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to continue with my work." he said, turning back to the wall. The woman looked at him for another moment, the flicker in her eyes warming to an ember in her chest. She turned and went to talk with a group huddled nearby. Some didn't react but the rest watched this dwarf of a man continue to work. Not knowing what to do, they continued doing what they had been, surviving. After doing a preliminary assessment of the building, Laonin headed home. Strange, he thought, only a short time here and I already think of it as home. Have I really been so desperate for some stability? Arriving back at the forge he let himself in, and locked the door. He climbed the stairs to his small bedroom, and after changing, lay down in bed. He let out a deep sigh. Tonight he would sleep well. He finally had a goal, and the means to see it through. Turning onto his side, he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. --------

    DIDGERIDOO

16 years after the War for Alleycity. Elkanah glanced up, looking at the sign. "DIDGERIDOO, the Delicious Inspired Distinct Great Eating Resturant, and Innovative Developers Of Orders." It was open. He glanced down at his partner, Rilu. The kid was doing good. He was close to his second Ideal. They had built this place from the ground up, and it was finally done. Satisfaction thrummed through Elkanah. "So, we're open then?" Rilu asked. "Yes, yes we are." Elkanah replied. The menu wasn't very big, only including a few staple items from each world, and of course, TUBA's signature Fortune Cookies. He would expand the menu, as customers and critics ordered unique things. Rilu was a suprisingly good cook. Elkanah was proud of the kid. He was a bit shy, but a good person when you got to know him. His chouta was the best Elkanah had ever tasted. Hopefully, this place would last longer than the bar, all those years ago.
  3. It was done. What had once been a simple scholarly interest had now become a single-minded obsession, heedless of the politics that funded it. With Pyrus by his side he worked over the magic, compiling decades of knowledge into a single scalpel of work, aimed at the brick wall of a problem that had tormented him for weeks. Months, maybe. He had lost track of time. The Liebrarian’s goal was simple: Get past the barrier wall. Behind the simplicity lay endless reams of layered hurdles. The DA had designed the barrier to be impossible to penetrate. It extended below the ground, a perfect sphere surrounding the Worldspike, blocking off all three Realms from matter and energy and investiture alike. Rashan's works had outlined the basics. The detainment unit had supplied the rest. You needed Administrator access to enter the barrier. The Administrator was stuck inside. An unforseen catch-22 made access inside virtually impossible. It had taken a few days to find a possible loophole, with assistance from the detainment unit. A month to experiment and find the parameters of that loophole, and exactly how far things needed to be stretched to break the barrier. Many more months to refine their plan and organise it. Alum had scoured the city for people with specific types of investiture, visited other worlds to read in the great libraries of Elantris and Kharbranth, and experimented with various weather phenomenons. It had all come together now. The meeting had been set carefully, in accordance with the predictions of the stormwards. The timing would have to be perfect. They made an odd group. A tired Azish man with a spren on his shoulder, standing next to a being made of light, formed out of Selish symbols. Various Liebrarians moved about, checking the preparations. Finally, groups of magic users, hand-picked, filled the rest of the street that led up towards the barrier. A division of Nicrobursters sourced locally. Those had been the hardest to find. Easier to recruit were Elantrians, Bloodsealers, Chay-Shan users and Forgers, each making up their own small crews. Exactly two dozen recruits in total. The wind began to pick up from behind, heralding the beginning of the operation. An Alleystorm was brewing; one of the strongest yet, the stormwardens had assured him. He wondered if it was enough. There was a joke, somewhere, in the fact that he had spent all this time labouring over the project and he still didn't know if it would work. He turned to face the others, and they quieted. The release of Voidus and the guardian would shape the face of this planet. "Ladies and gentlemen. The Alleystorm is building. It's time to approach the barrier. Anyone who wishes to assist us is free to do so. The plan begins now." The group moved forward, down the street. A hundred metres of wide alleyway lay between them and their goal. Alum wondered if anyone would try to stop them. Time to break the barrier.
  4. Setting High in the Horneater Peaks, hotsprings bubble and hiss, emitting sulfurous fumes. Some spit bright mud in waves, while others steam over delicate natural formations. A few have been tampered by humankind, shaped in such a way that they are cool enough for humans to not burn themselves. One of them doesn’t bubble, or steam, or smell. It is a perpendicularity between realms, and it is closely guarded. A trail leads from the most accessible part of the pool toward a twisted tree, which barely survived the extreme heats. If one went left at the tree, then one would follow the short path down to a Horneater village, one that benefits from further heated pools. It isn’t large, but it isn’t small, and the townspeople are kind. They speak of Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor, their rightful king, and they speak of the Radients returning, but they whisper of what you will find if you turn right at the tree instead of left. Up the winding path, crisscrossing over small wooden bridges and around mud pots, there are small signs. One boldly tells you that “No Hemalurgy” is allowed, another “Investiture Training”, and yet a third proclaims “Best Apple Crisp in the Cosmere!” The first, when one turns right at the tree, is large, and is carved in more than twenty different languages. “Welcome to Roshar! Waystop is 1/8 of a mile ahead – Food – Stormlight – Allomantic Metals – Clothing – Rooms for Rent or Use – Investiture Training (not Hemalurgy) – All Guilds Welcome – Clean Privies”. A tiny sign below it tacks on “must NOT be afraid of spiders” as an addendum. Up the path, over steaming sulfur pots and geologic marvels, sits Waystop. It’s a rambling stone one-story house surrounded by plants from every part of the Cosmere, some moving more freely than the wind warrants. The smells of baked goods and the days supper drift on the breeze, tantalizing anyone who happens to pass by. Spiders merrily spin webs in the corners and on anything that holds still for too long, and steam bubbles from the roof of a bathhouse. Welcome, Worldhopper, to Waystop. (Rooms and etc will be added as needed) Proprietors Yzabet Montegue (Yih-zah-bet Mawn-teh-gew) – HOSTESS and INSTRUCTOR Yzabet is the proprietress of Waystop and has run it for the past fifteen years. She is the cook, cleaning lady, gardener, investiture instructor, and general caretaker of the place. She keeps it all under control and uses the trained spiders that she breeds to make sure that everything is in order. Pallas Montegue (Palace Mawn-the-gew) – WORKING HAND Pallas helps his mother whenever she needs it, but can often be found reading in the library or creating the Cosmere’s first ever rock music. Long-Term Employees – Atticus – Security and Defense Contractor Mr. Amber – Chocolate Guru and Business Partner Current Visitors - Too many people for me to remember [PLEASE FORGIVE THE MESSY MAP. I stole it from the plans of an old folks home. Red is stuff that you can ignore (unless it is writing) green is trees, and blue are the hotsprings. Also marked in red are the outlines of the bathhouse and training grounds. Room prices are not yet listed, and neither is the price for Investiture training. Enjoy Waystop!]
  5. Hellbent smiled, looking around the lair. It was huge, the size of the citadel. Only one area was blocked off, and that was his... special project. Looking around, he could pick out famous smugglers, pirates, thieves, murderers. In other words, the scum of the earth. His type of people. And he was king. He even had his slaves. The Acute's, who stood behind the throne he now sat on, and the ones he had recruited before then. He lounged there, surrounded by the glories of his trip to the Mountain of the Gods. The Den of Thieves, home of crime, was now open. He pulled out a comm. "Dwig (@Dr. Dapper), I have need of G.U.E.S.S. Report to the Den of Thieves." He clicked a button, sending the location. Then he turned. "So, Acute's (@Silva). Would you rather stay here or come with me after Dwig arrives?"
  6. Several Months After the Events on Aimia Sephtis stood overlooking the Alleycity. The overlook held a few trees, and grass. The last time he had seen it, the Overlook had been barren and rocky. Sephtis had acquired new clothing from the journey from the isolated, guarded island of Aimia. He wore a cloak over his leather garb, adorned with several knives and Kunai. He wore a hood to keep people from noticing his face and his spike. In his journey he was referred to as One-Eye. In a very particular instance the One-Eyed Assassin. A small cremling sat on his shoulder. "Now we just wait until dark." The cremling clicked in response. The Cremiling was Twilight Sky, a Sleepless, an Aimian who helped him escape. "I wonder if anyone remembers me. I have been gone for some time." Sephtis settled under a tree to wait.
  7. In the central hub of the AlleyCity, where the city-life is thickest, stands a lone Notice Board created by some genius whose name was sadly forgotten, shielded with Aons, augmented by durabilty fabrials, and coated in a few feet of aluminum, the Notice Board is an object that relays information to everyone who needs or wants to see it. ---- --------- Notices currently on the board: (Feel free to post a reply here and I'll edit this post to show your message)
  8. Sephtis appeared in front of a large building. A sign read Investiture for a Better Life Foundation. He walked toward the main doors of the building. The doors slid open on his approach. He led Max through the main lobby of the newly built and furnished building. He nabbed a guest badge from the front desk. He gave the badge to Max and continued on his way. As director he could do whatever he pleased. Sephtis stepped into a elevator and pressed a button. The foundation was built into the ground, so the lobby was the main floor. "This is the Investiture for a Better Life Foundation. What we do here is experiment with all types of different investitures to build towards a better future and life. I set this up just before I trained my daughter Aurell in assassination. Here we provide a more than generous wage and benefits to employees. We have made many major advancements." Sephtis explained this all while the elevator descended. It would stop occasionally to allow passenger a look into some of the experiments scientists were carrying out. The elevator stopped at the bottom opening up to a long hallway. Sephtis walked out of the elevator and down the hall. He passed many empty offices. Head of Hemalurgic division, Head of Aonic division and many more doors that did not have name plaques on the door. He reached the end, and opened a dark oak door which read, "Director Sephtis." The office was decorated with a large cushion chair behind a large glass table. Two leather chairs in front of the desk and a small circular table between the two black chairs. The walls were adorned with abstract pictures and a bookcase on the right wall. Sephtis sat in his chair behind his desk. He tapped a few buttons on the desk. "Performing scan." The desk said. A light ran over Sephtis for a brief moment. "Spiritweb scan complete. Welcome back director." "Have a seat, Max." Sephtis said. Sephtis moved a few applications off his desk and projected a 3D spiritweb from his desk that hovered a few inches from his desk. "Do you know whose spiritweb this is?" He asked Max. @I think I am here.
  9. While it is true that the alleyplanet doesn't act much like a planet, I do feel like there should be something on the other side of the world. I had an idea about islands brought to life by the alleystorm, but I'd like to hear the ideas of other people. So, what do you think is on the Other Side of the World?
  10. Mahz stepped into the shack, looking around nervously. There was an old woman with glasses sitting at the table in the center of the room across from him. He sat down and stared awkwardly at the woman for several minutes. Finally, he decided to break the silence. "Can you tell me where I am?" The old lady chuckled. "Of course. But first, allow me to ask you why you've come here?" This didn't make Mahz any less confused. But he knew what the answer had to be. "I'm here to gain the power to kill the person who murdered my brother." The woman smiled. "Well in that case, I think we can help. I'm here to offer you a job. We'll train you for about six months, and then let you go out on your own to complete it-although with all of our resources at your disposal, of course." "Will that give me enough power?" "Oh no, of course not. That man was trained personally by Nalan, whatever training or resources we could give you in six months wouldn't be nearly enough. But once you succeed on our mission, it will be just about the easiest thing you've ever done." Mahz smiled. "Alright. What am I doing?" "Many years ago, a powerful man trapped himself in with an equally powerful being. We believe we've found a way to control this being. Now all we need is for someone to let it out."
  11. The house wasn't large for a well-situated merchants home, but it wasn't small either. It was mediumsized and like the other houses around it was relatively new. Locaded in a part of the Alleycity, that was only partially destroyed, it still had to be rebuildt almost from scratch. Around the house was a small strip of green, mostly gras and some bushes to keep the workload low. Same as the house the inhabitants were said to be normal people. The woman was known for her generosity - had she not taken an orphan in during the hard years after the war? And ever since she married again, the street had another nice and quiet couple, that looked after their work. The girl they forstered was a quiet one, but well-educated and gossip was sure she would make another merchants son a fine wife someday. Rumor had it, that there were already negotiations going on. It was a warm, welcome looking house, with a nice, generous family living inside - or so everybody thought. But today the house seemed darker and everybody made a wide berth when they passed it on the street. It felt like a dark energy was all around it, and unconciously the neighbours kept away. A raven sat on the rooftop, screaming a hoarse cry into the air, almost like it was calling doom itself. If you looked closely the raven was dripping blood the tiles and flashes of light could be seen behind the windows. But like any good neighbours, they turned their heads. The Vulkens were nice people, what happened inside their walls, was their private affair. ===================== Suddenly the darkness went away and Damaya instinktively took a deep breath. She was in a building. Somewhere. Araha was gone. Panic overtook her senses for a moment, until she forced herself to breathe deeply. In front of her stood a man, in armor. He reminded of those that had attacked them at the Waystop and she instinktively stumbled backwards, until her back hit a wall. "Who are you?" She asked, her voice small and frightened. She almost expected him to raise a hand and struck her and shoved the memory away. Mr Amber was right. She needed to get over them, not everybody wanted to hit her. Although this guy probably would. "What do you want from me?" @Grey Knight
  12. Chapter 1 The Awakening Pain. That was the first sign that he was alive, well other than his breathing. His head hurt as if someone had hit him in the head with a particularly large hammer. Though on second thought that would have been impossible as his skull would have been cracked and- time to move on. He opened his eye and immediately regretted the action. Sunlight made his eye hurt and his head ache more that it already did. He groaned and sat up. Who am I? he though. A name bubbled up into his mind. Sahin. That is who I am. No last name surfaced. He sighed. Apparently he didn't own a last name. Bother he would jsut have to come up with one on his own. Then something occurred to him, stopping all thoughts. He reached up and touched his face, specifically where his other eye would have been. Sahin instead touched a pointed metal spike. He reached to yank it out but reconsidered as a small inside voice spoke to him. That is your life line pal. it said. When doing so he noticed and odd symbol tattooed to the back of his palm. Three interlocking diamonds. Another memory stirred bringing up another word. Ghostbloods A voice interrupted his thoughts. "So your back?" The voice said. "Almighty help us all that you have returned. What fate has in store you I wonder." He looked to the speaker and noted his odd looking body which seemed to be make up of some odd insects. These bugs solidified into a man. "Was I really that bad?" Sahin asked. "You don't remember?" "My memory is a bit hazy at the moment." "That must be due to the Hemalurgy degrading process." The man muttered. "What?" Sahin puzzled. "Nothing, nothing. I am interested in what part you will play." The man burst into the insects he saw before. He opened his mouth to say something then closed it as he watched the creatures scuttle away. Disregarding the strange conversation with the bug man, Sahin turned his attention back to himself. He wore a tattered set of clothes and a matching ripped cloak. A broken mask lay in pieces not to far away. Must have been mine he deduced as he could only see one eye hole from the pieces before him. He wore a belt with little holders for glass vials. There were a few that were still full and unbroken. Though he did not unstop one to drink it. "Well," He said to himself. "Time to get off this wretched barren island." With that he started to walk with no particiular destination in mind. He just knew he he had to get off this forsaken island if he wanted to live. Little did he know, Sahin Vandre was really Solace First. A deadly assassin, a scheming mastermind, and evil to the core.
  13. Despite the fact that the alleystorm seems to be an accepted part of the alleyverse, I can't seem find much information on it. I'll start by listing what I know: The alleystorm was summoned during the seven day war by a singer in conjunction with an alleyspren. The storm (or, potentially, storms) follows a path that eventually reaches everywhere on the alleyplanet. The storm provides stormlight and recharges sand (and potentially other sources of investiture), but does not have the intensity of a highstorm (or even an everstorm) Now, some thoughts. First off, the highstorm is of Honor. The everstorm is of Odium. Because both of these are on Roshar, neither can be powering the alleystorm. So what is? Presumably, it relates to the alleyspren, but there doesn't seem to be much information on them either. Given that the two other storms we've seen are hosted by shards, it would make sense for this one to be hosted by a Shard as well. However, it doesn't seem like there are any people in the alleyverse who would be candidates for Shardhood. It may be that the alleystorm is controlled by the alleyspren, and whatever powers it is mostly left alone. Secondly, highstorms are incredible destructive forces. Everstorms are also destructive, if a bit less so. However, the alleyplanet doesn't really show any signs of becoming like Roshar in flora or fauna, so I will assume that the alleystorm is significantly less destructive. (At least, in the populated areas. Maybe there's a place where the alleystorms are as strong as highstorms on Roshar.) For similar reasons, I will also assume that they don't drop crem. This would mean that they are more like a thunderstorm here on Earth (not even a strong one, if they come every week). Lastly, the alleystorm recharges stormlight. As stated above, the alleystorms could not be of Honor, as Honor is on Roshar. This means that whatever powers the alleystorms could potentially power any magic system that relied on gathered investiture (such as sand mastery). This seems like an interesting outgrowth of the weirdness of the alleyverse, and potentially has many applications. If anybody knows anything about the alleystorm that conflicts or confirms what I have here, please let me know! If you have any ideas, please post them. The alleystorm is a part of the alleyverse that really needs more defining.
  14. Atticus stepped into the obsidian ring, breathing heavily. He wanted to kill. He was ready to kill. Fully equipped, he had huge power armor, reinforced power pack hidden in it, and his helmet back. But he had only brought two lenses. Two torturers lenses. He was here to die. And he was here to cause pain. That was why he was in the Arena of Blood. Three shades circled the perimeter, and it was filled with rivers of lava. Atticus knew it was heavily trapped. Atticus had already killed three here. Hopefully he would have an actual challenge this time.
  15. Third of the Night strolled into the mansion through the gilded doors, entering onto a platform a cavernous ballroom. The Ghostblood Council had not cut corners in choosing the location for the ball. The mansion, to the far north of the Alleycity, had once been owned by an unaffiliated worldhopper. When the Ghostbloods had shown interest, he had quickly cleared out. Night presented his invitation to a Ghostblood underling and he was announced to the ballroom. “Third of the Night, Ghostblood Representative!” A few of the Homeless looked up, recognizing the name- Night waved to acquaintances and friends. Everyone in the Alleyverse and everyone who classified as one of the Homeless that the Council had been able to reach had been invited to the party to celebrate the start of the 17th year of peace. Night hoped everyone would be able to come. Nin and Hateka, Night’s Aviar, took off. Nin perched on one of the silver chandeliers as Hateka started making lazy circles throughout the room. Night descended one of the staircases to be greeted by another Ghostblood underling. “Welcome to the Ghostblood Ball, sire. Please feel free to wander throughout the mansion as you please. Refreshments will be carried around the main ballroom, but you may visit the banquet hall to your right if you desire more food; and down the hall to your left are some more… private rooms if you wish to keep your conversation away from prying ears.” The underling bowed and stepped back to carry his message to the next guest. Night nodded to the man and smiled at the members of the Ghostblood council. Homeless of every ethnicity, some wearing armor or carrying weapons and some not, talked and danced throughout the ballroom. As a slower song ended, dancers broke up to return to their conversation circles. The musicians, of a band formerly known as MoTab, picked up a fast and catchy tune. Night smiled contentedly. Some were here simply to have a good time, some were here for business, some here for the popularity… and others were here because they saw the signs of things to come in the Alleyverse. The Arena of Valor was open for the first time in sixteen years, and there were rumors of quests regarding the Worldspike. Battles had been fought in remote corners of the Alleyverse. Whispers of powerful armies rising again circulated… in admittedly less-trusted gossip circles. Regardless, old alliances were being reforged, and new rivalries were surfacing. The Ghostblood Ball was but a mask for things much more sinister than it suggested. Grinning, Night waited for more guests to arrive.
  16. Max and Mara entered the Arena of Valour, both marvelling at the grandness of it. They were using it officially for the first time in 16 years, and the crowd was wild. Max had his Shardplate helm up, while Mara kept it closed. They still were new to having the armour, but they’d practised enough with Master Sheonar to know the basics. “It’s looks cooler in person, doesn’t it?” Mara whispered to Max. “Absolutely. Can you believe Rashan himself fought here? Master Sheonar too.” “They don’t call it the Challenge of Champions for nothing.” “I guess so. How do you think we’ll go?” “Who knows? Have you seen our opponents?” “Nah, just heard their names. Did you know one of their last names is Nightshade?” “That’s so cool.” “I know. And the other guy’s last name is Voidlight. That’s rusting awesome!” The twins shut up as the announcer spoke over the fabrial loudspeakers, announcing the fighters: @Ark1002
  17. In every alley, there is darkness. In the darkness, there are knives. One ought to be careful travelling through the alleys, for the things they encounter may be frightening. As is this. Some of the various guilds of Alleycity have taken note of some strange being that travels through the city like a ghost from Threnody. There are not many survivors, but the few sane ones describe how this person would seem calm for a moment and flying into a bloodthirsty rage in the next. Reports have spoken of this person having long strawberry blonde hair, and carrying a weapon that appears like a gun from Modern Scadrial but has the abilities of a Shardblade - as most of the victims have the tell-tale burned-out eyes that are the marks of Shardbearers. A few victims have described... strange things happening around the person - most of which are incomprehensible. The various guilds - whether they be the Keepers, Canton of Combat or others - have hired various seekers, bounty hunters and warriors to track down this person before any more deaths of their members - or others - happen, at all costs.
  18. Long ago, brave warriors trained. They trained tirelessly, prepping themselves for duels. These duels would form the basis of the ultimate battle, the Challenge of Champions. Warriors of the likes of Rhazien Montague (@Mraize), Rashan Caer (@I think I am here.), Nei'an (@Gancho Libre), and Kalmar Beowulf (@Kidpen). These brave fighters battled overcoming odds. Their goal: Win for chrysts, honor, and valor. *** (Please note that this is an incomplete topic. More details will be edited in.) *** 16 Years Later Sir Cobalt stood triumphantly, another defeated foe laying before him. He turned and lifted his sword. He held up his microphone. "WHO IS NEXT!?!?!? I SHALL DEFEAT ALL CHALLENGERS WHO APPROACH!" *** Beat him and open up the arena for everyone to participate. Then, the Challenge of Champions will be born anew. Afterwards I will make a far more detailed post on the topic with the rules and such. Aforementioned post.
  19. Hi Everyone! Good war that was! So this is the thread where you write about what happens with any of your character's during the sixteen year peace. It can be anything from a short-story to a simple summary! I'll start us off. Here's Year 1 of the 16 year peace that happens in Devaan's training ground (If I'm not writing any of the characters used accurately, let me know)
  20. Ambrosia set out from the sentinels headquarters. She took with her 200 vials of pewter, 15 full steel metalminds, and 40 different types of her special red and black chalk, with 4 sticks of each type. She also took a huge collection of meal sized unkeyed benadalloy coins, giving her food and water. After a while, she reached a plain near the New Alleycity, and found a warp left behind by Titan. She stepped through, and arrived by the entrance tot he boundless world. She placed a sign, a large sign, that stated: "Join Ambrosia Nightshade for exploration, glory, and fame. each member will get there own realm, free." She went in, and entered the realm of Titan. She traveled through the entrance, the city realm. She traveled through the next realm, his castle. She traveled through the third realm, a land of farms. She traversed the fourth realm, the forest realm. She climbed the final realm, the realm of mountains. She saw a cave with a fiery glow, and considered stopping, but decided against it. She reached the sixth realm, a realm not owned by Titan, a realm which was owned by thirty different people, so control over the realm was minimal. She sat, and waited for someone to arrive. ******* This thread is for anyone wanting to explore the Boundless Worlds, join a guild for explorers, or just be in the Boundless Worlds. Any thread can have the boundless worlds in it, this is just one thread for it specifically. This thread takes place in the sixth realm (the unowned one), the unstable dimensions, and any that will be stabilized during it. Not in the five realms of Titan. Anyone is welcome, and the Explorers Clan takes no viewpoint on Hemalurgy.
  21. Tena sat patiently on a rooftop, looking out over the Canyon Ward, waiting for him to arrive. She scratched Bud behind the ears and kept watch. Now that sixteen years had passed without major incident, the canyon that the thermo-nuke had made was lined with houses at the bottom. Already, three large bridges had been constructed, spanning the pit and meeting with the Canton of Combat near the center. Nuclear radiation was at a minimum because of the many different Aons that covered most homes and buildings. Her own house was quite safe; she'd hired an Elantrian and a Lightweaver to help her make it safely. Built in the canyon wall, only the balcony protruded, while carefully placed windows provided light to her plants inside. No stairs led up or down to the house; it took either the Surge of Gravitation or Steelpushing powers to reach it. The people themselves appeared to have already forgotten the terrible events that had destroyed many of their homes, they walked around on the sturdily built wooden stairways or walkways, mothers carrying children, calling to each other and laughing, men walking to work in the early-morning damp, climbing over and around buildings and bunching together to joke and chat. The children were even happier, having never experienced the traumatic events of the Alleywar. They laughed and played and begged for sweets and did all the things children should do. It's good to have finally recovered, Tena thought, both about the city and herself. Her spren, Iffina, circled around her anxiously, unused to Tena's current serenity. Not that it could last much longer. Fangblade arced across the Alleycity, his powers now coming naturally to him. He burned steel while also storing speed in a metalmind that looked like a chokechain around his neck. He surprised many pedestrians below, some clapping excitedly at the sight of him, others staring, still others cowering in fear. The Alleywar had left many people emotionally scarred, those who'd witnessed battles between Invested people were dead scared of Investiture, while those whose lives had been destroyed by those battles hated any Invested, though there were many in the Alleycity. Fang extinguished his steel, falling to the ground at a narrow angle, flicking one of his hindfeet to make one coin fly out behind him. He Pushed on it, throwing himself forward. He hit the walkway running, his long four-footed strides making him go faster than any human could, with the possible exception of a Steelrunner. He slowed, so as to not bowl over any unsuspecting humans. He soon trotted down the wooden walkway, passing humans that would pet his back or just walk by. He was fine either way. Arriving at his pre-determined destination, Fang jumped onto the low roof of a building on the edge of the Alleycanyon. Tena sat on the edge, and he approached her and Bud, wagging his shaggy tail in greeting. "C'mere, boy," Tena called softly. Fang walked up to her on the side that Bud wasn't occupying, receiving the scratching under the chin Tena offered him. It was a clear-skied morning, which both Fang and Bud appreciated; neither enjoyed being rained on. It was a beautiful day.
  22. The Alleyverse Zoo was now open. The Sentinel zookeepers had spent weeks gathering chasmfiends, chulls, santhids, whitespines, spren, koloss, aviar, nightmaws, meekers, cremlings, Rysahdium, horses, seons, chickens, and animals from all over the place for a brand new zoo. A Sentinel wearing a purple coat cut the ribbon with a Shardblade, cause heck why not.
