  1. A new bakery has opened up in the second octant of Elendel city. The sign on the window reads baked Delicious Edibles And Truffles Hemalurgically-pierced goods at great prices, come in an order now! 45% off! Another sign reads similarly. The inside of the store is large, surprisingly so. Several tables of different shapes take most of the room. A man stands behind a counter displaying several cakes and pasties. A man idly stands behind the counter, waiting for business.
  2. As he emerges from thin air, Lopen finishes his cookie. “Aon Tia is lovely this time of year. The instantaneous travel by no scenery is always a pleasure.” The Selian landscape had always intrigued Lopen, the lack of rock buds in favour of these green and red plants fascinating him, but sadly it had to go. He started rapidly carving out Aon Ehe on the fabric of reality, modifying it in ways that Elantrians would only be able to in a few thousand years, making sure that all that was left was a flat field. But that didn’t happen. To his surprise, the roses were untouched, and the faint bronze pulses that he thought he was imagining grew stronger. He had never felt such a strange pulse. It vaguely reminded him of Soothing, but so much more powerful. Even after he flared copper he could still feel their effect, their power being second only to that of a shard. And in the middle there rose an obsidian spike, a dark tower, reaching into eternity. “Rusts, forgot that Sel contained End-world. Guess we’ll have to be careful not to wipe out all universes.” He started remembering how before he was brought to Roshar, he had died. He was a happy man in his past life, dying while fighting with his friend against the onslaught of the army of the minion of the Crimson King. He went by Cuthbert back then. He remembered how after the battle a man who looked eerily like Wit told him that he had a role to play in another body, a role in the game played between parts of a god. And then he died, and was reborn without memories of his past, which he only regained now. He picked up a long revolver with sandalwood grips, as well as its pair. A tear trickled down his face, and he removed all but five of his abilities. He now had Aon Dor, was of the Tenth Heightening, and had the Surge of Gravitation (and with it the healing of a Surgebinder). And since @Nohadon was running late he started carving some Aons on his special bullets, which he then put inside a special aluminium casing.

    Alleymatics

In one thread, called "The roundabout" by some, a thread yet to open, a thread long closed, a question arose in the 33rd post. The question was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings at the roundabout. But it was a beginning. The question was, how all the alleys, the highway and the roundabout are related and structured in the Alleyverse. Here is an almost futile attempt to detail that question and tryy to answer it. What do we know yet (list incomplete): Each alley is somehow crossed by the highway. Nothing can cross the roundabout. All the alleys pass throw the "middle" of the roundabout. The alleys do not cross each other. The highway can be "inside" or "outside" the roundabout. Each alley has an illumination attribute. The illumination of the highway is indeterminable. The illumination of the roundabout depends on expectation and position. What we do not know yet (list absolutely incomplete): How many dimensions are there in the Alleyverse? Are there any other forms of "objects" in the Alleyverse except alleys, a highway and a roundabout? Is the number of actual and possible objects finite or infinite? If it is finite, how can we determine it? Is there a perfect piece of cheese.cake in the Alleyverse? What we have to specify (incomplete list): What is an alley? How it is structured? Same question about the highway. Same question about the roundabout.
  4. It has come to my attention that the other Denizens' and my creation, sale, and use of Hemalurgic cookies has upset many people, including the Anti-Bakery, Light Alley, and Mediocrely Lit Alleys. Also, I believe that we (the Dark Alley) need to broaden our horizons. For those reasons, I am starting the Non-Hemalurgic Research Division (NHRD) of the Dark Alley, which will specialize in, well, non-Hemalurgic Research. We will no longer just bake cookies; we will rise up and bake Metalmind Muffins, Stormlight Soufflé, and other tasty Investiture delights! Since this is a sub-group of the Dark Alley, all NHRD members must be Dark Alley members. (Which means that if you want to join, ask in the main DA thread.) However, non Dark Alley members may also help out with our Research, and need not fear spontaneous use of Cookies. In fact, we will limit ourselves to ethical Research in this thread, so morality advocates are welcome. Member List: Ostrichofevil - Maleril Ostrir Chalev Tekel - Head Non-Metallic/non-Hemalurgic Researcher, and lowly Denizen of the Dark Alley. Morzathoth - Biochroma Specialist Screwloose - Research Assistant IrulelikeSTIK - Research Assistant Kipper - Resident Forger Glossary: Feruchemical Unit (FU) - The NHRD's unit of Feruchemical charge. 5. Welcome to the Highway! For those who have finally managed to crawl through all those alleys, let me tell that there is only one rule on the highway. DON'T ASK ME HOW STORMING BRIGHT IT IS!! Members of the Highway: Customs Official and Founder - Young Bard
  6. All the Alleys, Highways, Roundabouts, and other Alleymatic Units of Travel had one simple flaw: no-one profited off of them. Everyone could go as they pleased without paying a single penny. Sure, you could be killed, Spiked, imploded, or the like, but at least you wouldn't have to spend your hard-earned cash. It was a useless system. It all changed when the Turnpike was built. The Turnpike was the first Alley that charged tolls. It was a miracle. Of course, there were skeptics. Some asked, "Why pay for the Turnpike when I can take the Highway?" or "Why wait in line to pay tolls for the Turnpike when I can just take the Roundabout?" or even, "Why travel the Alleys at all?" Luckily, the skepticism was put to rest, for the Turnpike is supreme. On the Turnpike, you can walk without fear of death, or worse. The Turnpike is Lighter than the Light Alley (for a fee), and yet its Research capabilities rival the Dark Alley's (not quite almost, for a fee). The Turnpike is more beautiful than the Parkway, and yet has better Venetian Blinds than the Alley Lit By Venetian Blinds. The Turnpike is faster than the Highway. On the Turnpike, you can take one step, and be in the Dark Alley, on the Roundabout, on I-95, or in Elendel. The Turnpike gives instant, luxurious access to anywhere and everywhere, for anyone who can afford it.

    The roundabout

All the alleys, higways and anything else have a shared flaw that has nothing to do with illumination. They are going from A to B. That seems not right to me. I found the solution. A roundabout goes from A to A and does not have an end in the classical meaning of the word. Swear the oaths and come to the roundabout: I will walk in circles. I will talk in circles. There are no beginnigs nor endings in the roundabout.
