I've just Finished Ear 01 and I have a Lot of questions those are bothering me and that's why I joined Reddit & 17th shard hope I'll get answers here from these awesome communities. I might have missed something or it will be an easy answer I'm not not able to find it, if the ans is in Any other books like Ear 02, secret History please don't spoil it for me. I just wanna know if I missed it or not.?

While we're in a grace period before Book 5, I wanted to take the time to try to understand the Cosmere a bit more. I've read the Mistborn series, Stormlight series, White Sands, Elantris, Warbreaker, Ars Arcanum, mostly as they came out and I haven't revisited anything since. Where is the best place to start my research and learning? I wanted to look more into things like the Shards and potential major players in the Cosmere at large. Hope this makes sense.

So, this is something that has been bugging me for a while. In the epigraphs of the Way of Kings (possibly WoR, I haven’t checked ‘cause I’m lazy) it says that Odium is the most dangerous of the 16 Shards. So, if Odium is the antagonist of the Stormlight Archive, then who will be the antagonist of the greater Cosmere plot? The answer: Odium himself. Let me explain. It has been established that Odium is raising an army to fight in a “greater war.” Whether Taravangian is continuing this plot is a matter of debate, but for the purpose of this theory, I’ll assume he is. It seems like Taravangian would want to rule the cosmere so that he could “save” it. So, I believe either KoW or SA 10 will end with Odium being freed from Roshar and going to go raise his army somewhere else during the time between SA and Era 4 Mistborn. It would be a nice ending for the SA characters, but it would leave loose ends for Era 4 to tie up. Let me know if I missed anything obvious. Or, if you have any thoughts that might help me expand on this.

This was just a rabbithole I went down as a joke on a Discord Group Message, but I kinda think I am actually onto something and want to share it online. Albeit organized in a more coherent manner. Don't be too harsh, I admit it is quite a stretch and wanted to do it for fun mostly. ------ So, we all know how there are 4 Dawnshards, and we could say that there are 4 Realms, Physical, Cognitive, Spiritual, and The Beyond. So, with that said, I noticed some connections between things. So 4^2 is 16, and there are 16 Shards. Well, going off of Sel and Roshar, we can see the presence of 16 in Pre-Shattering days. And I can see ways in which we can connect Adonalsium to 16, in how Dawshards could permeate all 4 Realms, and have separate traits in each of them. In the Physical Realm they could be with the Four Fundamental Forces, and take on different aspects of Creation in the other Realms, this would make for 16 Aspects in total. One can also see that Yolen, where Adonalsium originally created humans, has Two Ecosystems, Trune and Fain, well 2^2 is 4, and this idea can be backed up by how Taldain System, where Taldain also has Two Ecosystems, likely inspired by Yolen, and if you count the number of Celestial Bodies you have Two Stars, One Moon, and One Planet. This making up Four in total, further backing up by idea of the connection of 2 and 4. 2^2 = 4 and 4^2 = 16. This shows that 16 did come from Adonalsium and is (maybe) associated with the Dawnshards. --------- Separate idea of the importance of 4, 4 Realms, 4 Dawnshards, 4 Dimensions, (which encompass everything that is) 4 Fundamental Forces, (which control how the world works) 4 Basic States of Matter (which all partakes in) 4 Elements in Buddhism and Classical Greek beliefs 4 Letters of the Tetragammon (and Adonalsium is named after Adonai, one of the names of God in Judiasm) 4 Nucleobases in DNA (which makes up the code of how animals operate, like how Dawnshards are like rules of Reality) 4 Basic Operations of Arithmetic (through which all math can be done and reality can be quantified and have its rules described)

Hi everyone, I’m kinda new here but since none of my friends are into Cosmere and I need people to talk to about my crackpot theories so here we go, Brandon has said (I think) that he has plans for a Silverlight novella/novel and the other thing that he said that stood out to me is that it’s really weird. I was thinking about the shards that we don’t really know anything but their name (Valor and Whimsy) and I came up with the idea that I think Whimsy is the shard of Silverlight. I know it is not necessarily a planet but from what little we have heard I think it is a good connection. The other connection that I thought of are that Sazed says that Whimsy would not be useful in helping with Odium, and if I remember correctly Silverlight has a nonintervention policy. Coincidence???? I THINK NOT! what do y’all think?

Thing is, we all have perfect color pitch (color-blinds just see less colors). We all know if a yellow is yellow effortlessly, without comparing it to red or blue, just like someone with perfect pitch recognizes a G4 when they hear it. BUT, a grid is needed to express the frequency heard. If that someone comes from a culture with f.e. a 4 note equitempered scale (the first being C) and all their melodies use only those, when they hear a G they will immediately know it's between their 2nd and 3rd notes, closer to the latter than the former, but they'll have no means to pinpoint it exactly. The same happens with colors: a painter may easily tell garnet from ruby, but for me it's just red. That's because I have a low-res grid and my brain cannot store those different shades separately, but not bc I don't have perfect pitch, I still can picture the shade of color in my head without reference like the aforementioned person can sing the note. This video isn't exactly about this but segments 3 and 5 could be useful. The interesting thing is we don't have relative color pitch, which is what everyone has with sound. That's because light doesn't interact in our cones/receptor system like sound does in our cochlea. We can tell if a sound interval is dissonant or sounds "harmoniously" without training, but no one can tell which shade of green the color-equivalent fifth of garnet's frequency is. And I think this is what Brandon was going for: Relative Color Pitch. He's always said that color and sound, tones, have a special place in his worldbuilding and the Cosmere. He's very interested in how these are shaped by perception. However, with this magic he aims for the opposite. He wants to show there's something underlying that perception, something objective that follows only the laws of nature. There's only one problem with all this: we only see the equivalent to an octave. What does this imply? The harmonics of a base frequency that could be grouped into the same color (like different shades of red), would be too far in the harmonic extension, meaning they would be so close that would be dissonant. So the palaces' rooms in Warbreaker would actually be even more hideous to those of 3rd+ Hightening than they are to us. Comparison to sound Harmonics of C1: C1 C2 G2 C3 E3 G3 Bb3 C4 D4 Fifths and thirds would be too far off (blue-greens and yellows for a red, respectively), only those within a 2nd would still count as red. Sound-wise, they might add a bit of color (pun intended) to a full chord, but only the tonic and second it's just plain dissonant. It's a very interesting theme and I love it, but I just think he was a bit too hasty when he introduced it in Warbreaker and it won't work as I would've liked it to. Of course, I respect the fact that Brandon can't go so deep in every aspect of the Cosmere, and some things will need some magical mumbo-jumbo to make them work in a roundabout way and that's fine. I'm just a wee bit disappointed because it seems color and sound will have huge implications in the future and I don't see this part working perfectly. If someone disagrees or thinks I'm on the wrong path I'd love to discuss!

I’ve alway wondered what has been here, whenether I search online there are no answers, does anyone know anything

I noticed that there wasn't a cosmere line thread out there, so I decided to make one. The rules are: Find a line or passage from one of the cosmere books, and post it here. The, one at a time, people have to guess what scene or part of a book the line is from. If this gets too hard, then we will change it to guessing the book. I'll start off. "Strength does not make one capable of rule; it makes one capable of service."

Would it be possible to use Investiture to side-step pregnancy? I mean, Investiture can create life: not just Cognitive Entities like spren but also humans. That's how Preservation and Ruin did it on Scadrial. No boinking required (sorry, Comatose). Surely human beings are less Invested than spren? Surely it wouldn't take as much Investiture as Awakening Nightblood. If a Lifeless can be Awakened with a single Breath and a Drab have a little less spark than ordinary Cosmere folk then human beings probably aren't too Invested. We're impeding some Invested Arts but not that much. Assembling the body would require a bit more Investiture but it should be possible. Maybe the Nightwatcher has given people babies to people as Boons. Some Shard somewhere has to have thought "well, this is messy, here's something better!" and added something like this to their Invested Art "There you go girl, no 9 months of labour! There you go gay couples, your own baby!" I know there'll be social consequences from this but I don't think it'll be bad things unlike all those speculative sci-fi books. I don't think this would devalue women (also seriously, feminism? You of all people should not be saying that! People's worth isn't determined by their reproductive worth. In primeval nature, sure, but now? Def not, that's the whole point of development. Though there is something to be said about the whole process of motherhood being the part of their identity for a lot of women) So, is this plausible? Do you think we might see something like this in the Cosmere?

Not sure if this belongs here or in the Stormlight forum, but does anyone else think the Expanse of the Broken Sky in Shadesmar would lead to Taldain? We already know that Vapors and Densities lead to Scadrial and Sel, respectively. The Expanse of Vibrance likely leads to Nalthis (which I found on the Coppermind), but there's nothing about where Broken Sky might lead. Personally, I think Taldain fits perfectly because of binary star system keeps the planet locked in place, creating a clear "break" in the sky between Dayside and Darkside. Let me know what y'all think

Is Fortnite in the Cosmere? Can we get Szeth in Fortnite? (Wanna see him dance).

While listening to an audiobook of the half blood Prince, I realised that some kinds of magic leave lasting traces. Since half my thoughts lately are cosmere based, I immediately thought of fabrials/gemstones and the fact that they can retain stormlight. If we were to cross the verses, would a wand or a charm on something like a door classify both want or charmed object as invested? Quick brain teaser for everyone

Though we've only seen him directly in a couple of scenes so far, I find Ishar one of the most intriguing of the Heralds and a character I'm very interested in figuring out more as Stormlight progresses. Most obviously because, though he doesn't get as discussed as often as, say, Jezrien, and isn't set to be a main POV character like Taln or Ash, almost every time he's mentioned we find out more of the major events of Roshar's history that he's had a hand in - seriously it seems like half the time a rock gets turned over regarding the history and lore of Roshar, we find him hiding under it. Whose experiments with the Dawnshards and/or the surges apparently led to the destruction of Ashyn? Ishar's. Who founded the Oathpact? Ishar did. Who became the Herald associated with the Bondsmiths, arguably the most powerful Radiant order? Ishar. Who enforced order on the proto-Radiants and was apparently already powerful enough to personally destroy them all if they refused? Ishar. Who convinced the other Heralds to abandon the Oathpact, or at least showed them how? Ishar. Who convinced Nale that he had to hunt down surgebinders to stop the coming of the Everstorm? Ishar (and I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out he also convinced Kalak to start the Sons of Honor, considering Kalak and Nale hung out at least occasionally). Who has Ash convinced he's the only Herald to still be sane and trustworthy, despite being a ranting megalomaniac? Ishar. Who's that Tukari warlord with a god complex who gets namedropped every now and again? Ishar. And who's apparently involved in some way with the Shin Stone Shamans? Ishar again. The point being, dude's had his fingers in a lot of pies, even for a Herald. And it seems like he was a very dangerous man even before he went all megalomaniacal. I, for one, have been suspicious of how often his name keeps cropping up from as early as Words of Radiance, and each further book only reinforces my belief that this is a guy to watch and be wary of. From what we see in Rhythm of War he's scary powerful and involved in some strange and creepy things (and I have a feeling we've only seen the tip of the iceberg regarding what he's really capable of). With Dalinar sending Kal and Szeth to bring him to heel it looks like he's being set up for an important role in book five - which, interestingly was originally supposed to be Dalinar's book (aka, the Bondsmith book). Personally, I don't trust even Ishar's moment of sanity; sane or mad, I think there's more going on with him than we've yet been privy too. Now, everything I mentioned above could be just the random acts of a madman, but personally, I'm inclined to doubt it- Ishar may be a madman, but he's also a genius, and I think he's got some sort of endgame in mind even if it doesn't make sense to anyone but him. Is his ranting about taking up Honor and Odium and becoming a new Adonalsim just the delusions of a megalomaniac, or does he actually have some sort of plan to achieve it, even if it probably won't work (he's not actually Honor's champion, for one). Or does sane!Ishar have some other plan that got buried under the character of Tezim the God-Priest? How has he convinced the other Heralds to listen to him - is he just more rational when the person he thinks is Odium's champion isn't around, or does he (as I've seen suggested) know some trick with Connection to make people trust him (which is incredibly creepy in its own right, if true)? Why is he experimenting on spren? Why does he want Dalinar to meet him in Shinovar specifically? And, perhaps most importantly of all, will he be dealt with in Book Five or will he continue to play a role (as an ally or an enemy) in the back half of the series? Personally, I've got a lot of thoughts, but few that feel like concrete answers. But I do think, one way or another, Ishar is going to have a very important role to play in how things unfold from here. Anyone else have thoughts on the Herald of Luck?

So this is something I wanted to try for a while. It's something that I was considering a few months back and wanted to see what people's opinions would be. The basic concept is What if? What if Vin was born on Roshar? What if Szeth had become an inquisitor? What if bridge 4 had been in the Skaa rebellion? What roles would certain characters born on different worlds encompass? Might have been done before but thought it would be interesting. It's a general discussion, but I was also imagining what if the Cosmere was a TGC game (or more like gacha nowadays if you play FEH or literally any other gacha) where you get variants of characters. I'll start things off be reimagining Kelsier's crew and Wax's deputies as Radiants on Roshar and what roles they would fill. Mistborn Radiant Windrunner Vin Feel as if this would be the most natural fit though did consider Edgedancer. The whole protecting thing is within Vin's character but it would have to be tempered somewhat (looks at the attack on Keep Hastings or Blowing up Kredik Shaw, plus those Inquisitors) Skybreaker Kelsier Come on though. What else is Kel gonna be. The law, in many people's eye's, is often up for interpretation and giving Kelsier the ability to destroy lighteye's legally? (Or somewhat anyway) Makes sense to me but please feel free to discuss this one. Bondsmith Elend Spook couldn't have said it better "He's just a dreamer caught up in a world with too much violence" He would definitely be a Bondsmith, especially seeing as he is always trying to improve, right to the end. Elsecaller Sazed Honestly this one was hard to call (heh) so if you disagree please write something more appropriate for Sazed. But seeing as they are the most Scholarly order I figured this fit Sazed to a tee. Not much else to say here but seeing as the orders are apparently made up of "broken people" (according to Syl anyway, also in my experience everyone is broken somehow it's about how you deal with that is important) this might have been good for Sazed post Tindwyl. Truthwatcher Breeze Not gonna explain reasoning behind this one for very long, though he would probably find healing people to be too much work and delegate to others. Stoneward Hammond Again not gonna explain this one. I genuinely can't think of another order that Ham would be suited to. Willshaper Clubs Had a hard time on this one, until I noticed their disposition to art and though Clubs is curmudgeonly in his heart lies an artist. Though if someone were to say that he would probably say he wasn't an tell you to storm off. With a slight smile on his face. Edgedancer Spook This one was tricky, because I want to give Spook the benefit of the doubt and make him a Windrunner but his work in Urteau (which was basically ignored by many) makes him out to be more an Edgedancer than anything else. Remembering the fallen and the ignored would probably hit home with Spook given his feelings of being ignored. Dustbringer Dockson Dockson did change towards the end of WOA but that backstory and the little he cares for nobles influenced this decision. Though in fairness he would probably be less destructive and more careful with his surgebinding. Lightweaver Tindwyl Not a great fit for Tindwyl in fact I'd be more tempted to put her in with Sazed, but she is a skilled teacher and, supposedly, writer so I feel this one goes well with her. Truthwatcher Allrianne Seems like a good fit, if the Truthwatchers had squires most likely this is where she would end up, Rsyhadium Tensoon Threw this one in for fun. Skybreaker Wax Because Wax is just a bloody badass, he wouldn't really fit another order, maybe Windrunner but given his proffesion..... Lightweaver Wayne I disagree with Wayne being an Edgedancer. Seems to me, barring his abysmal drawing talent, he would fit this order better. What with the disguises and all. Truthwatcher Marasi At the heart of Marasi is a person who wants to help more than harm (which is slightly ironic given her parentage). She may fit better as an Elsecaller or maybe Skybreaker, but where Wax acts she watches, perceptive and strong. Stoneward MeLaan Hmmm well actually I would say that MeLaan (or any Kandra) could be part of any order so who knows. Windrunner Steris She'd have so much fun. Completely inappropriate though. my theory is that the stormlight archive book 5 concludes the roshar saga and from book 6 it will be more cosmere bound. we will visit other planets and meet more worldhoppers. now I may be wrong but I do think that wit will help some important characters like jasna, shallan to leave roshar and allow them to become worldhoppers.

Now that it's confirmed that there are only nine Surges usable by the Fused, as they don't believe Adhesion is a true Surge, I wonder if there's some significance to the Unmade? Re-Shephir was sealed away by a Lightweaver, right? What if there's a reason for that? I always found it strange how Shallan seemed to empathize so easily with Re-Shephir. I first became suspicious about Shardplate being manifested lesser spren after reading a question asked to Brandon about Kaladin often being followed by packs of windspren, and I started thinking what type of spren each order of Knights Radiant might manifest as Shardplate. That led me to think about the relationship between humans and singers, and spren, and I started wondering if the Unmade might correspond to an order of Radiants or Herald each, as well. Following this thread, it seems that the Unmade might be a subversion of the attributes associated with each order/Herald: Nergaoul might be the dark inversion of Taln's role as Herald of War, as Nergaoul inspires a bloodlust that robs war and combat of any higher or noble purpose. Ba-Ado-Mishram, as a commander of Odium's forces, might be a dark counter to Jezrien's role as Herald of Kings, the leader of humanity, or maybe to Ishar, as she manipulated Connection on a massive scale to bond with singers and provide Regals and Voidlight Sja-Anat's ability to corrupt spren may be a dark adaptation of the Truthwatchers' mission to spread truth through the populace and keep an eye on the world's leaders, but Sja-Anat's children serve as spies rather than whistleblowers. I'm of the opinion that, because the Fused see the Surge of Adhesion as a lie perpetrated by Honor, and it indeed it can't be suppressed by the Voidlight fabrial, one of the two orders that has that Surge will not have a corresponding Unmade. It just so happens that those two orders, the Bondsmiths and the Windrunners, were associated with leadership, the Bondsmiths with leadership of the Knights Radiant, the Windrunners with leadership of humanity at large. I wonder if there's any deeper significance to that, that maybe Odium didn't want an Unmade that was meant as a dark subversion of leaders. I'm not sure, and maybe I'm blowing this all out of proportion, but hey, there's always another secret.
