  1. From the album: Stormblessed

Here's a new take on Kaladin and Syl! Decided to design my own brands, uniform, etc. because of fun =) Let me know what you think! and if you love it enough, there are prints for sale on my website

  2. I know Brandon, and Isaac just did a bunch of branding work for Stormlight recently. Brandon also talks about how you can think of fantasy texts as translations. This got me thinking. I combined the ideas and added some translation to the Bridge Four logo to make it more merchandising friendly. Attached are my first and my second drafts. Still a work in progress, but I proved the concept to myself. I have since moved on creatively. I’m not sure if I will ever circle back to it to get it to a finished state. I figured I would just share it as is. Second draft is next to official original design for reference. I tried balancing keeping it close to the original design while still making the 4 readable as possible.
  3. On a whim earlier today, I decided to see what might happen if I fed the opening lines of the prologue of WoK into a bot and watched what it came up with. Bizarrely, it seemed to have some idea of what the Stormlight Archive is, who some of the major characters are, and even concepts like bridge crews, lighteyes, spren, etc. It also managed to be marginally coherent, at least until the character limit ran out. Of course, being a bot, it has no idea of the context of anything, and so ended up producing a twisted funhouse mirror version of WoK where Kaladin and Bridge Four are trying to build a bridge under the not-so-watchful eye of a nameless king, while Kaladin is apparently pretending to be Sadeas's son for some completely inexplicable reason. Oh, and Szeth may be the Dragon Reborn, but I'm not entirely sure on that. The text I gave it was, of course, "Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a king." The bot I used was here:https://app.inferkit.com/demo As for the "story" itself, behold behind the cut! And yes, I know it cuts off in mid-sentence. That's part of the charm;).

    Kaladin in uniform

    From the album: RoW Kaladin

And the version without the shardplate because I spent a lot of time on that uniform and you can barely see it in the final drawing lol

  5. From the album: RoW Kaladin

I wanted to draw the moment after Kaladin swears the 4th ideal and gets his shardplate. In my enthusiasm I forgot I don’t know how to draw armour ^^; still, considering this was very much out of my comfort zone it turned out pretty okay

  6. So it's pretty well established that entities in the physical realm have a bead that represents them in Shadesmar. And they have some level of persona, e.g. "I am a stick", at some point that stick would have viewed itself as part of a tree rather than just a stick. Is there any clear indication as to how long entities retain their identity, for example the individual planks of wood that make up Bridge 4. Is there one bead that represents Bridge 4 or one for each disparate piece that comprises it? At this point I'm sure it's all coalesced into a single bead given how the members of Bridge 4 (The team, not the bridge itself) have treated it. This leads me to my next thought: What will happen to that bead and the ones for the entities that comprise the Fourth Bridge. If Bridge 4 is thought of more strongly would it become the dominant aspect of the whole? I'd love to see Shallan or Jasnah observe Bridge 4 in Shadesmar. We saw the Wind's Pleasure strongly desire to continue carrying the crew, would the Fourth Bridge respond more strongly to member of Bridge 4? Or just treat all passengers the same?
  7. Hey everyone! Here’s my latest Cosmere piece! Contains spoilers for SA 1-4. Stick around after the credits below to get the backstory on this song. He seemed... beyond me, somehow. As his backstory unfolded, I realized how little we had in common at that time in my life; I settled into a good place where I really enjoyed watching him grow and change, accepting that I could invest myself in a character's story without having to fully understand his experiences. In the summer of 2019, my wife became pregnant for the first time in our marriage. We had been married 7 years, 6 of which had been spent trying to grow our family. Weeks later, that child died in the womb from unknown causes. I suddenly understood a little of Kaladin's pain; I was unable to protect my unborn child. We struggled for a year, wrestling with ourselves and God, days blurring into weeks, then months, as we sank into depression. We were surrounded by people who loved, held and heard us, but it took a long time to even begin to move forward from the silence, the grief and the loss. As we slowly crept out into the light again, we chose to trust that continuing the journey as unashamedly broken people was better than pulling the covers over our heads for the rest of our lives. We went to counseling, examined our faith on deeper levels, and spent lots of time with friends and family, sharing what had happened to us and soaking up the encouragement and love of others. In the fall of 2020, months before the birth of our daughter Jane, the chorus of Windrunner began to take shape. I wrote this song to help me move forward in my journey; I hope it helps others as much as it helped me.

  11. I haven't seen this topic discussed so here it goes: What do you think will happen to Rock? My (wild) guess is: he will be the 3rd bondsmith!! Besides that, I think we´ll see some interaction between him and Azure.
  12. Hey yall I took a bunch of the artwork of much more talented people and some music from another of those people and put it together to try to tell Kaladin’s story from the first 2 books of the Stormlight archive. Hope you like it!
  13. A few years back I wrote a song about our favorite bridgecrew called Bridge Four. I recently made a video for the song featuring a bunch of awesome fanart and official art and thought I'd share it! Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/7G1HsS... 14. I've been thinking that Moash and Kaladin are maybe a bit like opposites; they were in a similar situation -- being in the bridge crews after tragedy befalling them or their families -- and Moash clings to revenge and he has that singular focus, while Kaladin turns away from revenge and arrives at the realization "I will protect even those I hate." (Speaking of which; isn't that such a totally mind-blowing statement?? I don't know if I could do that.) It seemed to me like they arrived at a similar crossroads and took opposite paths. Turning aside from selfish concerns to selfless ones. Thoughts?
  15. Aaand here is the second part of my Cosmere tattoo journey!! The Bridge Four tattoo that everyone gets in the book after they are freed from Sadeas and becomes Dalinar Kholin's and the Kholin's bodyguards and eventually storming awesome Radiants!! Here's hoping, I'll become one, if I believe hard enough!! Hey, hey Kaladin! Hit me up! I'd be an excellent Bridge Four candidate!! Looking forward to hearing from you, Kaladin Storm leased and you too, Syl!!

Here's a simpler version of a Bridge Four wallpaper.
  17. Hey everyone, so I was going to include everyone’s name who we know was or is in Bridge Four, but this site will only let me put in 30 different answers, so some people had to go, so I could include Lyn, because she is more awesome than someone who just died on one of the first bridge runs (sorry whoever you are). Also I didn’t include any of Lyn’s friends. Anyway, I’m sorry if for some reason your favorite bridgeman isn’t listed. I tried to include the best ones. I excluded Kaladin, because he is the viewpoint character, and this poll is looking for other answers. I’ve been thinking of this poll ever since I read the Bridge Four chapters in part two of OB. Also now that I’m rereading WoK, I’m noticing all the bridgemen and what they are doing, now that I actually know who they are rather than getting a random name like Moash being the one who Kaladin picks up the first day as bridge leader and takes outside. (I still can’t decide if I love Moash or hate him.) I love Bridge Four, and although it’s a hard choice, I picked Sigzil as my favorite. I love that he is orderly and tries to mesure the Windrunner’s power. As I’ve been rereading WoK, he is one who pushes against Kaladin in the beginning. He also tried to kill someone (I got to know this story). One last cool thing about him is that Hoid’s his master and he is a worldsinger. I love when he tells people what other cultures are like. I’m intrested in seeing who people like and why? I love bridge four and find many of them awesome, so what are your thoughts?
  18. Hi Guys, I dunno if this question had been asked before or if it was explained in the book which i missed somehow. My question is How do they push the Bridge across a 50-100 feet wide chasm? they don't have any support on other side of the chasm, they push only from one, so a bridge which is heavy enough that it takes minimum 25 men to lift it, wont it fall down the chasm once its halfway through the gap? Or since there is no one on the other side, won't it be easier for parshendi to just push it down the chasm once it is near their side? TWP
  19. Over on Reddit we're making an effort to build a list of theories as a resource for new fans, to make it easier for them to get up to speed with the rest of the fandom. We've named 8 categories, and every two weeks we'll be collecting theories for one of those categories. Voting (on Reddit) will determine how theories are ordered in the list. The final list will be posted on Reddit and on the 17th Shard forums. For more details, see the announcement post here. If you don't have a Reddit account, we can still use your help! Please feel free to submit theories in this forum thread and we will make sure that they get included in the vote and in the final list! Right now we're collecting theories that relate to Kaladin and Bridge Four, so any theories involving Kaladin, his family, Syl, and Bridge Four. Don't post full theory explanations here! Just share a brief name/description, a link to the full theory, and credit to the person who created the theory. It would also be helpful if you could note any relevant tags/keywords related to the theory, as well as the level of spoilers involved. If you do have a Reddit account, feel free to submit theories and vote here. We're taking submissions for the next 9 days, followed by 3 days of voting only. Let me know if you have any questions!

Because he won one of the art polls on my twitter, here's Rock! I forgot his brands. :|
  21. This is basically the result of boredom and having finished rereading WoR not too long ago. Now, I know soap carvings are supposed to be three-dimensional and all that, but it's a glyph, so... I want to do all of the Orders of the Knights, and Mistborn stuff, and the Cosmere symbol and... well you get the idea. Bridge Four gets to start everything off. Here it is from a few different angles (and glowing, because why not).
  22. I was reading through Way of Kings again, and I noticed something very odd. On Kaladin's first bridge run, there is an unnamed bridgeman who says, "Talenelat'Elin, bearer of all agonies." The bearer of all agonies part interests me, because it clearly refers to the fact that he is the only Herald still being tortured in death, while all the other Heralds broke the Oathpact and are still alive. However, all of the common people believe that the Heralds won, stopped the cycle of Desolations, and chased the Voidbringers into the Tranquiline Halls. That being the case, how does this random bridgeman seem to know this information about Taln when nobody else does? Additionally, he is described as being old and leathery-faced. I don't know how much older he would be than Kaladin, but I imagine it's pretty significant, especially when you consider the physical strength and stamina needed for a bridgeman. How would such an old man have survived carrying bridges long enough to know the ins and outs of how the whole process worked? He knew enough to tell Kaladin tips for making the carrying easier, knew not to make Gaz mad, and was able to look for the signs to see that the current bridge run was "going to be a bad one". It seems odd that someone so apparently old would be strong enough to survive carrying bridges as long as he must have. The man also is the only bridgeman we see to show any kindness at all to Kaladin, while all the other bridgemen are pretty much completely dead inside. Much like Kaladin when he becomes "the wretch," they don't care about anything or anyone. So why does this bridgeman, who has clearly gone on at least a few runs before (and it seems likely that it's more than just a few), suddenly help Kaladin without any real reason to do so?
  23. No one seems to know how tall or buff Kaladin is, since his exact height is never mentioned and "fingers" is a completely arbitrary unit of measurement. There have been lots of questions asked about how Kaladin is so muscly if he lives off a slave diet. There have been lots of questions asked about how much Rosharan gravity and stormlight induced good health affects average height. In this picture, I drew Shallan as 5'6"/168cm and Kaladin as 6'5"/196cm and he is slouching slightly. To anyone who ships Shalladin, how would this ship even work, logistically. She is eye level to his armpits and we all know Kaladin is lucky to bathe once a week... Some other artwork to aid in your scientific research: Kaladin at the Gym Fanservice for Adolin
