So I've read all of the books like a billion times now and I wanted to say that the new ones are kinda bad. They broke a bunch of rules they made and them almost destroyed the world

I love Brandon Sanderson, I have read all mistborn books (including arcanum unbounded), white sand, the way of kings, the reckoners, and alcatraz vs. the evil librarians. Any sugestions for what Sanderson books (preferably cosmere) I should read next?

This song is for Lift and her awesomeness. (Who ever names the original song and the artist gets to request the next song I parody) Once upon a time not so long ago Wyndle used to work on gardens, the sprens been on strike He’s down on his luck, it’s rough, so rough Lift becomes awesome all day, eating all the dinners She brings pancakes back, for some, for some She says, I will listen to those who have been ignored I’m a child and stuff. I’m so storming pure. I’ve got a Shardfork and that’s a lot for some She’ll give it a shot! OOOHHHH, she’s halfway there! Woaah, dancin’ on a prayer! Take the oath, you’ll make it I swear! Woaah, dancin’ on a prayer! Wyndle’s got his vine-string in hock Now he’s holding in what he used to make it talk So rough, it’s rough Lift dreams of running away When she sleeps at night, Arclo whispers Radiants unite, someday You gotta say the oaths with what you’ve got It doesn’t make a difference if you’re awesome or not You’ve got the pancakes and that’s a lot for some She’ll give it a shot! OOOHHHH, she’s halfway there! Woaah, dancin’ on a prayer Take my vine, we’ll make it I swear Woaah, dancin’ on a prayer Dancin’ on a prayer! Oh, we’ve gotta slide on, ready or not You live for awesomeness, it’s all you’ve got OHHHH, she’s halfway there! Woaah, dancin’ on a prayer Grab my vine, we’ll make it I swear Woaah, dancin’ on a prayer (Repeat chorus) (Fade)

I'm going to submit an idea for a shard that has no basis in any previously stated theory (that I am aware of), that is not based on any patterns or rules I've noticed in the books, that really only comes from the idea that I think this shard would be awesome. I think it would be awesome to see a hivemind shard. The shardholder can invest in a planet and create life, but all of that life would just be an extension of itself. It wouldn't have Harmony's issues with maintaining any kind of balance for free will, there is no free will, except the will of the shard. I don't know what it would be called, it wouldn't be like domination, it might be an "opposite" of autonomy. If this shard did exist, I imagine it possible that Dysian Aimians are a race created by it, in which case at least a part of the shard itself would be on Roshar. That last part falls apart a bit when you start thinking of Siah Aimians as well. Thoughts? Anybody else have ideas for shards that would just be cool, without worrying too much about how it fits into any unifying theories of the cosmere?

What's up guys? Coming from the Stormlight thread, where some of us fans got together and started crafting cool posters and trailers for potential Stormlight movies, how cool would it be to have one for mistborn as well? One very large advantage for mistborn over Stormlight is that the first trilogy is actually finished, so a movie trilogy is actually much more feasible than Stormlight. We know what is going to happen and how it ends. And we don't have to split each book into three movies either, heh. Anyways, while not as visually arresting as Stormlight (what with them actually using light) mistborn still has an incredibly cool magic system, and all of us know how awesome and cinematic the fight scenes are (Kelsier vs inquisitior still gives me chills). So go crazy and bring the world of mistborn to the screen! My personal poster for mistborn. Ash falling from the sky, Kredik Shaw standing imposing and black, with it thousand spikes. In the foreground, the Lord Ruler watches over a thousand slaving skaa. Tagline: What happens when the chosen one fails? Go crazy!

Quick Fix Game 10: The Scadrial Atium Rush
the winter system posted a topic in Sanderson Elimination
QF 10- The Scadrial Atium Rush The Discovery* As James W. Marshall placed down a log of wood, he stumbled backwards. His friend helped him move the log into place, but James tripped into the river. His friend laughed and reached forward to help James up. James ignored the hand and reached into the river to push him up. His hand touched something cold, with a metallic texture. Huh? He wondered. James looked down and saw a big bead of a dark purple metal. He pulled it out and examined it. “What’s that?” His friend asked, grabbing at it. “Hey, I found it,” James said. “It’s kinda pretty, ain’t it?” “Yeah, it is. What’s it?” “I ain’t know.” James put it in his bag. “Ain’t look like any metal I know.” “Sure it’s metal? Might be some trash or somethin’.” “Yeah, pretty sure. What ya thank it is? Atium, the lost metal?” James joked. “Nah, that’s ridiculous.” His friend shrugged. “Send it back to Elendel for analysis.” “Good idea,” James said, and later that day he sent it in a package back to the city. - The first of the many independent miners to come had a pan made of metal and an insane attitude. He believed the crazy reports that had gotten everywhere- that atium had been rediscovered. The miner sat down on the bank of the river and reached down. It took him under an hour to find the tiny bead he was searching for. It was beautiful. It was a violet shade and when he polished it off with a cloth, it glowed in the afternoon light. Or maybe that was just him. He pulled out one of the glass bottles he’d brought and dropped the bead in. “Atium,” he breathed out. It made a soft clink noise. “I found it.” - That night, as a larger group arrived and set up tents, a shadow crossed the camp. A person stood in the darkness. They were a scout for the larger group that was set to come. “Atium. Rediscovered at last. No way are we going to let these ‘independants’ gain a monopoly on such a vital resource.” The corporate’s scout said as they wrote the report from the cliff. “I think something needs to be done about this.” - The next day, the first immigrant was found dead in the river. The bead of atium he’d found the day before was missing. Rules And the signups are open! Welcome to QF10. The idea of a Scadrial game without allomancy came from Renegade's QF8. Signups will be closed on Sunday, September 27 (exact time to come). The writeup time will come soon as well. If you're on a mobile and can't change the color, write this PERSON WHO YOU ARE VOTING FOR[/color*], but get rid of the *s. I will try to keep a link to each cycle's writeup in my signature. And player list in the writeup. Now, happy murdering each other! *this may or may not be how the actual California Gold Rush started. Do not use this and substitute 'gold' for 'atium' for a history report. EDIT: I have switched the rules to the modified version.- 645 replies

To start off, I hope this is in the right place... So, I've seen a lot of posts around responding to certain things saying "17th Shard is so awesome." This, my friends, is where we can plunk all of 'em down and, for me at least, rave about the wonderful things I find here. So, reason #1: We can talk about religion without arguments starting. In fact, we can have intelligent conversation on religion. Reason #2: Age doesn't matter. Age on this forum ranges from forty-something parents with children to people still in middle school, but when you post, nobody can tell. Ideas and comments are judged solely on their merit, and not dismissed because the person posting is too young or too old to understand what they're talking about. So, what do you think? Why is 17th Shard so awesome?

So Tor posted some new info on the Wheel of Time Companion. In addition to what we learned in August, we now have this: Considering that Shadows of Self is set for release in October and this in November, I can well say that this fall is shaping out to be pretty awesome!

We have two cases of Shards being used in a digestive system. First, we have Allomancy which (I think) let's people control their digestion of metals to "burn" them. Then, we have Lift being able to metabolize stormlight. A tentative connection to this is breathing in stormlight. Kaladin, Moash, Dalinar, and Shallan all breath in the stormlight, freeing them from the need of oxygen. I have two(ish) questions. 1. Do the worms in the Aviars gain their power from the different bird meet they eat? 2. Does having access to a magic system change the genetic make up of the body to be able to use the magic? (3. If number two is correct and if the tentative connection turns out to be a good one, does stormlight replace air?)
