  1. From the album: Art of Sasha R

I had a LOT of fun painting this one, though I was nervous about accidentally spoiling something as I was only starting the Oathbringer at the time of painting this. I'm definitely painting more of Stormlight in the future. Maybe Jasnah... or Pattern? I'd love to be commissioned for official art for the future books, that would be the dream! I also welcome any feedback and critique, both for artistic execution and lore, but keep in mind that there had to be some liberty in putting together Urithiru so low and close to the Shattered plains and Horneater Peaks, for the sake of making the focal pieces clustered [Urithiru + Stormfather above the Shattered Plains] in the center of the painting as requested, for custom book sleeves with for all 4 books. Their spines, when put together, show the center of the painting. "The most important step a man can take. It's not the first one, is it? It's the next one. Always the next step."

  3. Could the prologue chapter in stormlight archive book 5 be that of gavilar and tell us all the secret, like how he got the antivoid light.
  4. We are so happy to announce the coming of The Stormpod (A Stormlight Archive Podcast) Shawn Q; a veteran of Mr. Sanderson's work, and Jack; a newcomer to the Cosmere, dive deep into the world of Roshar starting with The Way of Kings. Shawn and Jack's background as avid D&D/RPG players and GMs give them a unique eye and perspective on the Epic Fantasy story of Voidbringers and Knight Radiants. They will follow the Codes and not spoil anything past the Chapters they are covering each episode. We would love to collaborate with any Cosmere fans out there, whether it be through sharing Fan art, guest appearances on the show, or any other way under the three moons of Roshar. On Wednesday November 4th, the first 3 episode are available anywhere you listen to podcasts. Come and reread the series with us or get someone new into it. Life Before Death, Strength before weakness, Journey before Destination
  5. A small team of modders, myself included, are working to bring the Stormlight Archive to Crusader Kings 3. We've been working hard, though this is a massive undertaking. This post will go over what we currently have and some of what we plan of doing. This is currently what of the map we have actually made. Furthermore, we have some historic characters ingame: These aren't the only ones, but they serve as some good examples. Furthermore, on the character front, we have the dna of multiple characters done: Dalinar's Family: Gavilar's Family: Bridge 4: Heralds: In order: Jezrien, Shalash, Taln, Nale, Ishar, Kalak, Battar, Vedel, Pailiah, Chana An last and not least: Taranvangian Vorinism: Vorinism and the Alethi culture are currently the only ones ingame. That will change. ANYONE WHO WANTS TO JOIN THE PROJECT OR OBSERVE PROGRESS: https://discord.gg/SypeWHa Once on the server, post on general what you can or want to help with on the general channel.
  6. Leadership in literature has often been used as an effective educational tool for students of leadership. Books that are often sighted as leadership texts include: -Ender’s Game -Starship Troopers -Once an Eagle The Way of Kings’ focus on leadership should place it strongly on the list. Whether it’s Kaladin building trust, culture and cohesion or Dalinar’s adherence to the codes and setting a standard for his army. In addition you have Shallan and Jasnah’s mentee/mentor relationship, or the antithesis of good leadership in Sadeas. I’ve begun using WoK with my team to use some of the conceptual works we have read like Start with Why, CliftonStrengths/Strengths Based Leadership, Radical Candor, Leaders Eat Last, and the Infinite Game (Heavy in Simon Sinek works I know) and show how the characters apply the concepts in the novel. Just wanted to see if anyone wanted to share their favorite leadership quotes from Stormlight. Thanks Everyone!
  7. With Fantasy TV being the hip new thing, I've been thinking about how episodes for a potential Stormlight Archive TV show could go. Here are my rough musings of the different options: One viewpoint/episode: Each episode would follow a specific main character for a good chunk of their story. For example, one episode would follow Kaladin from being in the slave wagon to his choosing not to kill himself by jumping in to the chasm. The next would follow Shallan from the Queen's Pleasure to Jasnah's ethics murder lesson and so on. When POV characters were together, it would still focus on the actions of one character if they split off from one another (Adolin & Dalinar for example) and maybe have the finale of a series follow multiple view points to deal with events like the end of Oathbringer. Chronological: Events follow chronologically jumping between multiple characters an episode. This would resemble the books closely with the sequence of events following roughly those of the POV chapters with less important events cut out for time reasons. Something in the middle: An episode would focus on a particular POV character but will occasionally cut away to other characters. For example, Kaladin could be the focus of 3/4 of the episode but could have snippets of Shallan and Dalinar to break up scenes. I'm also curious how the flashbacks could be handled. Should it be like the books where one series follows one characters backstory or should multiple characters backstories be in each series. The story as written obviously works better with each characters backstory playing an important part to the flashback characters plot but I'm sure it could be adapted so that you get some backstory of the other characters in earlier seasons as that might lend itself better to TV even if each season focuses closer on one character to match up with the plot. I'm currently feeling one viewpoint/episode with flashbacks sticking to the way they are in the books. What I don't have an idea for is how to present the notes at the start of each chapter like the last words of the dying from TWoK
  8. Anyone know any cool tests, that relate to the ShardBearers. & do any other books tie into it? Thanks!
  9. So we know that Dalinar will eventually have to face Odium's champion, and who that will be is not yet known. But do we know whether Dalinar himself will actually fight? Or rather appoint his own champion? Dalinar is still a capable warrior yes, particularly with stormlight to aid him, but he's getting older now. He may opt to have someone, such as Kaladin, serve as his champion against Odium's. However, Dalinar is a bondsmith and the Stormfather mentions on at least one occasion that he has the most powerful of the surges, so perhaps Dalinar has an advantage there. Even if he were to fight himself, what weapon would he use? He wouldn't have a shardblade, unless that is when the stormfather finally gives in on that matter. Perhaps he could use one of the honorblades? I believe Vyre now has Jezrien's, but if Dalinar could get hold of one of the honorblades then he would have a shard and hopefully new surges to play around with. But still, how will he face his enemy do we think? The nine shadows of Odium's champion sounds dangerously like a reference to the unmade (perhaps somehow fused into the one champion?). So even with a blade and possibly two extra surges, how could he even hope to defeat his enemy? I realise I am not very familiar with the deeper lore of these books, but that's why I'm here asking questions, right? Anyway, I welcome your thoughts.
  10. Give your dream casting and movie production and development here. For example, I would love if the stormlight archive was arranged into hour and a half segments like Sherlock, and each season would be a book. Regardless of method, the CGI needed for a project like this would have to be really, really extensive. Ideas?
  11. Hey! Just wanted to find out: when would be the best time to read Edgedancer? I've just meet Lift in the interlude, after Part 3 of WoR, and I have to say I'm loving her. Her relationship with Wyndle in so intriguing, I wanna know more. Thanks~!
  12. So. We all know how this started. I was a reader, just like any of you. But then I had questions, and Brandon's a secretive little demon, so I had to look ay forums and theories and then I got ideas.... And now I'm here. This is what I like: 1. Greek salad. 2. Eating cake and crying about it. 3. Yelling at books.

    WOB's??

Hello everybody!! It's good to be back to the site after so long, don't want to waste anybody's time so ill get to it. I feel like I've fallen way behind after my absence, Is there any forum or site where i can read the latest WOB's or tidbits of info from Q&A's? Thank you
  14. I get the whole "guiding" ideal. But wouldn't Jezrien be a better fit? Like Ishi and Jezrien switched?
  15. So I was inspired by @ShadowLord_Lith and his post about Shards. I wanted to ask this question in a broader forum area. If you were to be a Shard, what would your name be? Also, if you feel inclined, enlighten us on your magic system and world. I would be happy to hear! If I were to be a shard, I would be Affirmation. Magic in my world would be based upon strength of belief, being similar to Soulcasting. If you believe something, Investiture would affirm said thing, making it true. Also, another form of Investiture would be able to work upon the mind, Affirming certain beliefs inside of someone, similar to Soothing and Rioting. I could Affirm certain beliefs to make them stronger, while Dismissing others. In terms of a world, I would have several high mountains, which sat above a shadowed world covered by clouds. Below, your abilities would be far more powerful, due to the planet being undefined, while above, humans lived normally. There would be two types of magic, the mental Affirmations and Dismissals, and the physical Affirmations and Dismissals. As I said above, you can only truly change reality within the lower areas of the planet, the ones below the Godpeaks. So, this would prevent the destruction of humanity before it could develop a set of rules. The further one goes from the ground of the planet, the weaker their physical abilities would become. Conversely, those who possessed mental abilities would grow stronger the further you ascended. After all, creation is impulsive, while belief is built on already created ideas. Creation must come from something unformed, while honing something, that comes from what has been built. The Godpeaks were built by me personally, and as such, can not be affected by physical Affirmation. Someone could only destroy my Affirmation with intense amounts of Investiture, as to destroy an idea, you need a more powerful one.
  16. Is it possible to use unkeyed Nicrosilminds to store Stormlight (assuming that the user is capable of Surgebinding, probably through an Honorblade)? If so, what other forms of Investiture would Nicrosilminds be capable of storing? Would it be easier or harder to Awaken a Stormlight filled metalmind?
  17. I don't know if there is a topic about, but is it possible that the Listeners had a form of power with a "Godspren" ? We know that the Listener knowed the StormFather from ancient time or more probably the Spren that the Stormfather was before to merging with Tanavast's ghost. The Rider of the Storm. Eshonai says that he was one of the Spren that betrayed her species giving their powers to the Humans. Therefore the Listener before the "Betreyal" may use the Rider of the Storm's power. We know that the relationship "Listener-Spren" is about a merging to gain a Form, therefore there is a Listener's Form associated to the Rider of the Storm and probably that Form was a very powerfull Form of Power. Any thought about ?
  18. So, The way of kings was long. WOR was yet longer. How long will the third be?
  19. Yup. Laral will be a Knight. Reasons: her name is palindromic* her dad died and she became engaged to a tyrant Kaladin's probably going to fall for her* And... yeah, thats it. But I'm almost certain. * Not quite relevant. More, uh, jokinglyish-things.
  20. A pretty rough sketch of Shallan and Kaladin getting along as best they can.

  21. Just a little bookmark I made for reading WoK and WoR. There are a few inaccuracies, but it does the job and is kind of cute
