  1. Any reason why this is ruled out? Out of all people, she is one of the more morally ambiguous ones. If Kaladin thinks killing Parshmen who are theoretically enemies to his kind is immoral, I just don't see how he could be the one destroying his own kind, which incidentally includes his own kid brother. Dalinar at this point reverting to his old ways...may be but what's the point. Szeth may be, especially if he believes that is his calling. His recent actions in Edgedancer though shows a mellowed person. Out of all the people in question, it would be Shallan I would be looking to for being the person who can fall under the influence of Odium. Her backstory is horrible but is also a contrast in how other characters would behave in similar situation. Imagine if Kaladin was in Shallan's shoes, would he have killed his mum & dad? My bet would be he would have preferred death.
  2. reading what Kaladin did, I get the feeling that it's not something Windrunners could do. is there something else at play?
  3. Adolin & Shallan chapters were nice. Goes to show how these two people view the importance of their relationship.
  4. with radiants on Dalinar side.....that fight would go well.
  5. The normal Bridge 4 who were never associated with the army were ready to rebel because they did not understand better. Teft is a veteran and understood the mood and scenario and hence why 'talked sense'. Question still remains, if Kaladin was kicked out, like we assume will happen with Adolin, would Bridge 4 stick have stuck with Dalinar? The reason why I ask this question is simply because Dalinar's army is in effect loyal to their commander, who for better part of few years happens to be Adolin.
  6. So, there was tension and what happened to Kaladin is marked different to what we think will happen to Adolin. Jailed for few days is different to what we are discussing would happen to Adolin. Let's assume if Kaladin was kicked out of the army and shunted out of shattered plains, would Bridge 4 still have stuck with Dalinat & co?
  7. probably. still, imagine trying to punish Adolin. do you think Bridge 4 and Kholin soldier's would take it quietly. there will be help to pay for any person from these 2 groups if anyone plan to touch Adolin. Army is run on loyalty.
  8. punish Adolin would mean loosing support of Bridge4 and Adolins men. as much as the kholin soldiers like Dalinar, punishing Adolin for killing Sadeas a guy responsible for butchery of half their men.....yeah, really would love to see anyone spin this to Kholin soldiers. Sadeas murder has an arc and I am not sure it's about Adolin getting screwed by his dad.
  9. Adolins crime needs to be put in perspective..... all the current known radiants, the king and few other high princes are glad to see asadeas dead. there is no beating around this fact. now at individual level.. Kaladin: this guy is not ruled by laws of man or gods. Kaladin has his own moral compass which is governed by his oaths. he would be the last person to even go against Adolin. if not for Sadeas death, Kaladin might have had to kill Sadeas himself due to his oaths. Shallan: it's a bit funny for people to assume that she would be angry at Adolin. let's recall her past as well as her present. the secrets she still is part of and the murders she committed. coming to her moral compass, she might actually start adoring Adolin even more. Dalinar: this is one man who could pose a few tough questions to Adolin. but let's bring in a bit of perspective. Dalinar was so brutal at one point that he probably would have made current day Sadeas a.....anyway, Dalinar current moral compass can be trouble for Adolin. Elhokar: This guy does not give damnation Sadeas is dead. Adolin is his brother. he was part of plan with Dalinar and Adolin to kill Sadeas few months earlier.
  10. Kaladin is just out of his teens and he is a very tall fellow. So you need a freakishly tall kid to play Kaladin. Some of the names mentioned are ridiculously short and nearing 40's.
  11. hope there is a fight in OB where Kaladin and Dalinar are tag teaming. love to see what impact Bondsmith has on Kaladin's fighting abilities.
  12. You said so yourself. Self-Defense. Even Modern Justice, especially if the trial goes to a Jury, would probably have Adolin walking free. There is a difference between killing a petty criminal or a murderer or even a gangster & killing a serial killer. All of the former can be reformed if the circumstances are right. A serial killer is beyond reform. Any sympathy shown today will definitely result in a victim tomorrow. Adolin had a hobson's choice. It will either in thar dark place or on a battle field after Sadeas killed another set of people close to Adolin.
  13. What if you notice a person with a knife coming to stab you friend & you have a gun, will you shoot that evil person to save your friend? is it murder if you do it? What if that person has already killed your friend & is now going after your brother, will you still wait to shoot him? Is it still immoral or unjust if you shoot the person? Sadeas had already murdered Adolin's friends. He is like a serial killer who would never stop. This was not a case of some random person murdering some one in heat of the moment. Sadeas planned the murders and went through with them & made more plans to repeat the same. Just because Sadeas was NOT in the act of murder does not negate these truths. There was no redemption for Sadeas. He has shown no willingness to change & he was going to murder if he was not stopped. What if you knew some one is a serial killer & will definitely kill going ahead. If you had gun and you could stop him. Will you do it or will you wait until the serial killer is in the act of killing some one to do it? What if you are not around when he is killing innocents? Will you risk it and let a killer go free? The moral & just thing to do at that point was killing Sadeas. Not killing some one who would kill innocents is absolutely immoral, especially for some one like Adolin who is built to kill people like Sadeas. I can imagine some one like Ranarin hesitating but Adolin, he should never.
  14. The difference here is that Sadeas did already kill thousands of Adolin's men, so, it was not just a threat at that point. It's like a serial killer bragging to his victim about how easily he killed the victims friends and how he would kill his family next. That is the correct context here.
