  1. I was thinking something similar, but then I realized that the Dragon's Peace hinged on Rand giving his life during his battle with the DO, and the more who know a secret... I loved the book. There were some scenes that blew my mind. Others I was nodding with respect and pleasure. Still others I was shocked. Probably my favorite scene in the book is the conversation between Rand and Mat in Ebou Dar about their respective adventures. Next has to be the epilogue. The impossible pipe had me grinning from ear to ear. The saddest death to me was Rhuarc. He was a rock for Rand for most of the series and the way he was compulsed and turned made it hard for me. Perrin learning how to enter the Wolf Dream(aka Tel'Aran'Rhiod) was awesome and continued his arc of awesomeness. I started "The Last Battle" thinking to myself "I'll just finish this chapter and read the rest in the morning." Didn't happen. By the time the chapter was over you couldn't have pried that book out of my hands with anything short of the Jaws of Life. I was absolutely mesmerized. Thank you Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson for crafting such an amazing series. The last 22 years have been amazing!
  2. Thanks to Rubix and fRR for letting me hang out with you guys a bit. I had an absolute blast, notwithstanding nearly freezing to death. Those walks around the building saved me. You guys are great! Edit:Typos
  3. Welcome! I'm starting to wonder myself if I will be able to finish in time. I finished The Dragon Reborn almost two weeks ago and am nearly halfway through TSR. I am reading them more slowly than usual this time. I an trying to savor them more for the final book.
  4. I had to slog through to the finish of the Soldier Son trilogy. I just can't leave a book unfinished. The series was so depressing that the end just really didn't do it for me. It seemed like she was just piling on. I mean, yeah, there needs to be opposition, but wow, she took it up a notch.
  5. Just saw this and thought I would share one of my favorites. Turkey Thai Skillet. Ingredients: 1 lb ground turkey. (I use the leanest I can find.) 2 red bell peppers cut into strips 1tbs diced Ginger 2 cloves garlic, diced (If you like garlic, like me, feel free to use more, to taste.) 2 tsp red pepper flakes (I'm not a huge spicy hot fan, so I for go this ingredient. If you like it hot, add to taste.) Sauce 2 tbs natural Peanut Butter 2 tbs Lime juice 2 tbs low sodium soy sauce 1 tbs Sesame oil 1/2 fresh Cilantro Brown the ground turkey and drain. Add bell peppers, ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes. When peppers are soft, to taste remove from heat and stir in the sauce. Serve over salad greens or spinach. This has a nice flavor to it and is somewhat healthy. I love it!
  6. Hi Mr. Sanderson. Thanks for doing this! Just a couple questions here. I'll be brief. 1. In what ways do you feel that finishing the Wheel of Time helped to prepare you for The Stormlight Archive and how did it change your writing in general, if at all? 2. I love Wax as a Skimmer and a Coinshot. Is that your favorite Twinborn combination? If not, what is? 3. Having to do with Legion, if you could take a picture of any historical event what would it be? Thanks again for doing this. I look forward to all the answers!
  7. That is one thing that excited me as well. I think if the ensemble cast for the main aspects is solid, having great guest stars will really make things shine.
  8. Indeed.
  9. That was a great read. It definitely whetted my appetite. I have heard that the prologue will likely be released early again. Sometime in October or November.
  10. I am a complete nerd! I was actually at a marching band competition and had some downtime between shows. We got bored hanging out at the hotel and went to the nearest gas station. I noticed TEotW sitting on a display with some other books and the cover really caught my eye. I tore through it and was done by the time we got home the next day. I went to get more books in the series and realized that only The Great Hunt had been published and that The Dragon Reborn was set to come out in a few weeks. I made a tradition of reading each book as it came out as soon as I could get my grubby hands on it. I even read A Crown of Swords while I was on an LDS mission. I know. I know. I had a friend in high school who feared that Robert Jordan would pass away before he could finish the series. Sadly, he was prescient in this instance. I am glad that Brandon Sanderson was chosen and I knew he would do a great job when his role was announced. Now, we sit a few months away from an ending that I have been anticipating for more than 20 years. I know it will be amazing!
  11. I have had the same issue in the past. Luckily for me, this time I have 2 little ones, 3 and 1, and a wife to keep me plenty busy. If I were still single I would probably have waited to start, oh, around Thanksgiving.
  12. I'm in. I had already started when I saw this, but here goes. As of today, I am on page 379 of The Great Hunt and will update as I finish the books. This is a great idea!
  13. Oh yeah! Can't wait!
  14. Thanks for posting this, zas. I'm looking forward to Steelheart and I already have Legion on order. Can't wait!
  15. If I recall correctly the method the Ogier use is called the Book of Translation, and from what I have read it takes them directly to the next point on the wheel where they should be.
