Your first & favourite Sanderson novel
tsquared84 replied to Young Bard's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I discovered Sanderson by reading the first Infinity Blade novella after playing the game. Then I read The Way of Kings, and that is my favorite novel of his. -
The event website (http://www.childrensbookworld.net/events/) says that Calamity must be purchased at Children's Book World for entrance to the event (and it must be Calamity). After that, Brandon will sign any other of his books purchased at CBW. Also, you may bring one book from home for each of Brandon's books purchased at CBW.

I was really looking forward to going to this, but an invading force of bacteria causing a pneumonia had other plans for me...

Amazon has my estimated delivery day for March 4th, but it hasn't shipped yet, so I'm getting a little nervous.

Speculation: All lashings are based on the gravity surge
tsquared84 replied to Devo's topic in Stormlight Archive
I've been thinking about this lately wondering how pressure relates to any of the lashings. I didn't think about a vacuum being formed between the two objects. But that would only form a bond along the axis where the two objects where touching. With the vacuum explanation, it seems to me that a force along any axis besides the axis of the bond would cause the two objects to slide apart. For example, a block lashed to a wall would have a very strong bond perpendicular to the wall since one side would have atmospheric pressure applied and the side with the vacuum would have no pressure applied, but since pressure is equal above and below the block, any push down on the block would cause the block to slide down, I think. Interesting way to think about pressure though.- 27 replies

Kaladin is my favorite, but Szeth is a very interesting character.

Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to reading Brandon's stuff, but I love all that I have read. I read Infinity Blade: Awakening about a year ago wanting to learn more about the game's story. I really liked it, found out more about Brandon and then picked up The Way of Kings because it was on sale and I loved it! I've since read the Mistborn Trilogy, the first Alcatraz book and I just started The Alloy of Law. It's a little crazy that I lived in Utah all my life, graduated from BYU and moved across the country to go to grad school at Penn State before I even heard of Brandon Sanderson! I've been reading a lot of the posts and it's a little intimidating the amount of depth and speculation that memebers here go into, but I've really enjoyed what I've read. Hopefully I can contribute in some small way.

This is my first post on 17th Shard; I thought this would be a good place to start. I got started with Brandon Sanderson because I wanted to explore Infinity Blade more after playing the games. I really liked the novella and looked Brandon up on Wikipedia and found out that he was teaching at my alma mater. I bought WoK because it was on sale and I loved it. I've since read the Mistborn Trilogy and the first Alcatraz book. I'm starting The Alloy of Law now.
