  1. Whelp, back on my occasional 'poke my head in and see how things are going' visit! I did just see some art of a dragon-fruit dragon, its stomach is like the white pulp and the seeds, and its back is that bright pink, adorable, so Im gonna go with that. Plus its a pun. Do I like them or are you offering?
  2. Your anatomy and posing is particularly good, especially Sierra! They all have so much personality and dynamism. Im sorry that you cant share parts of yourself with your parents. Its terribly hurtful and unfair. The cool thing is that you can choose your friends, especially once youre an adult and you can find IRL people who are like you. I wish I had some grand wise thing to say, just, know that youre not alone and it wont be like this forever. That goes for all of you who are teens. It gets so much better when you become an adult and can direct your own life.
  3. Lol if you still want answers a year late, sure why not Yang and Penny. Penny because she's wholesome and adorable and I love her, and Yang because she's a badass and I relate to her trauma stuff and on top of that she is A Certified Gay! I hadn't then, I have now!
  4. Do we have news of a Rock novella?
  5. I suddenly remembered there was like one line when Teft returned from the Horneater Peaks saying that Kaladin wasnt going to see Rock again. Are we meant to assume that hes dead?!
  6. Hi! Im mid OB re-read, and I have read Dawnshard, I just cant afford a copy of RoW right now and I havent figured out my local library yet. I have seen a lot of people complaining about how its so character heavy and blah blah reading about people with mental illnesses is so annoying. Like hey we gotta read about healthy neurotypicals all the time how do you think we feel! I havent decided yet if im gonna read the pre-release chapters. I have been accidentally info-dumping on my friends because boy howdy do I get intense about these books. Oops Oh I saw the art! On the official website! Its so gosh danged pretty!!!!
  7. Soup! Soup for my family! Yeah part of why I like the word queer is that it inherently does not fit into neat boxes. Its not part man part woman, part hetero part homo, its wobbly wobbly timey wimey experience of its own stuff that encompasses a whole lot of bright and creative and individual and communal and its just not what anyone outside tries to make it, it doesnt fit itself neatly into understandable labels, it just is, and its beautiful, and wow this is a very run-on sentence, woof! Wait, really? Ugh. Why are exclusionists. Dammit. Spear Queers it is then!
  8. 1. Im re-rereading OB and I definitely ship the OT3. 2. Same comment as below - - You know your own identity, no one else can know that because theyre not you; and you dont have to have like a hook-up ratio to justify yourself. Y'all are valid and if anyone wants to gatekeep they can catch these hands. Theres also lemme think, Battle-axe Bi's, Spear Queers, someone made a whole bunch of cute stickers for different identities, though Im not sure how many they originated and how many were just around already. Here! https://www.redbubble.com/people/foxflight/shop?artistUserName=foxflight&collections=877877&iaCode=all-departments&sortOrder=relevant (disclaimer I dont know the person or having anything to do with them, dont make money from sales etc etc) I dont see bi/pan as part hetero- part homo-, its its own fluid thing. I can be attracted to multiple types/genders of people at the same time. It is fluid and does lean certain ways sometimes and changes over time but its not a hetero/homo spectrum, its soup.* *I am going through a phase of calling everything soup. Life is soup. Time is soup. Gender is soup. Attraction is soup. Its all soup for my family. Theres also Wonder-Woman-throwing-a-tank form, I hear. I take this is the same They who descends upon achillean* gays the moment they come out and sort them into tops and bottoms. (thats also a bit of a community joke) *achillean is loosely men who love men, its feminine counterpart is sapphic, both can and do include non-binary people.
  9. Im multiple episodes behind ahhhh (im on 113) So Liam on one of the catch-up Talks Machina's confirmed that Caleb is attracted to Essek. We got another gay on our hands! And yeah Also, not sure that Jester or Fjord want children. I kind of ship Shadowgast + Jester for the chaos. I think Beau +Yasha ship name is just beauyasha. Also I just love Veth and Yeza? Did I say this before? Theyre adorable. I kind of feel bad for Yeza trying to raise Luc and Veth just drops in with weapons and chaos, he's so in love with her though.
  10. But....what if I want to post Dawnshard art but also not see RoW spoiler art?
  11. Hey So when I go to the Coppermind I get a pop-up warning about RoW spoilers and a link to the time capsule site. But when I click the link I just go back to the pop-up. And if I click that link I just go back to the pop-up again. I assume thats not supposed to be happening.
  12. 3. That would mean that another being altered or influenced the Dawnshard to give it that conception. Interesting. 3c. Yeah im glad for the wiki otherwise I dont know how we're going to keep track of anything a few more books down the line. Im already struggling a little rereading OB because there's just so much setting and lore to keep in mind all the time. How does so dang much happen in these........thousands-page-books......I wonder.... 4. I dont think I know of any depiction of Adonalsium, other than the Dawnshard mural. That also sounds like it could be a fandom silliness, like cat-quisitors and Shardforks. Ill have a quick look around. Also crab-god sounds....very edible. 5. Nah it was just a swear. Im just interested in who is and isnt native to Roshar, and like, Ryan had some uncomfortable thoughts about how the Passions sounds uncomfortably like Odium-worship so it got me thinking. If the Thaylens are also (part) native, I wonder what long eyebrows have to do with crustaceans. Or Aimians or.....*sigh* there are so many different peoples. I just need a timeline of Rosharan history.
  13. So is the ship of Kelsier and Drifter an enemies-to-lovers kind of situation?
  14. I thought he was a worldhopper we knew from somewhere specific? So uh on the topic of parents and coming out and things. The number one rule of coming out is that you dont do it if you're going to be in danger. If you're reliant on your parents, particularly financially, particularly if you aren't of legal age, still live with them, and/or cant realistically move out, and you think they'll react badly; wait. Being closeted can be really awful but its better than being homeless, hungry, in debt etc. Make and save whatever money you can, make plans for independence, and make damn sure you're going to be safe and you'll have somewhere to go if things go really really badly. Therapy, with a good therapist who is right for you, is fantastic, I highly recommend therapy. Generally happy people will most likely benefit from learning how to manage their stress and their relationships better. People under stress, especially queer teens, have a lot to gain from therapy. Just obviously make sure if theyre through school etc that whatever you say to them is strictly confidential, that they're not gonna go to your parents or teachers without permission. Parents can be really [redacted]. Mine are. A lot of people have kids without being prepared for what happens when their kid turns out to be something other than cishet, abled, hearing etc. Or even just a kid who doesnt see the world exactly as they do. Its incredibly difficult to be that kid, but the good news is that once you're independent and you find friends like you, you find your real community, things get so much better. Its like a completely different, free-er life. if you have to, bite your tongue around your parents and bide your time, be queer as you like on the internet, and you'll get to the IRL light at the end of the tunnel soon enough. [worrying that this is coming across as preachy or condescending. Just please please be safe.] [And in case you need to hear it: you are super valid and super normal and super queer and there is no contradiction in any of that. Your parents dont know who you are, only you know that.]
  15. Hello I popped onto the shard to squee about Dawnshard, and now im here to collect quotes to respond to y'all! Also y'all are wonderful and valid and .....I feel like I need to be wearing massive heels and a wig and a crop fishnet shirt for all this queer energy. Edit: Whoops I somehow missed this when I was replying. I was gonna say *hugs* I hope youre doing ok. 3. Ham and Breeze should be gay in the movie start the petition. 11. Id love to see Marasi be queer. I think Blushweaver's sexuality is "yes". ......what fic? inquiring minds would like to know wobbly wobbly is the most accurate. Remind me who's drifter? Was that Ham? ......oh thats what I was gonna say, I went through a stage where my profile pics where Strong Female Characters I Uh Totally Dont Have A Crush On Nope. Jail? You ok? Hes too old and weird to be cishet, thats for sure.
  16. I mean it depends a whole lot on what gender even is and how it is expressed in Realmatic terms. Also, someone's ideal version of themselves might not actually be recognisable post-transition like this. Its not like (how explicit can I be here) certain body parts change and everything else remains the same. Things like face shape, shoulder width, height could also change. The big question really, is how do various societies across Roshar treat trans people, before you bring stormlight and radiance into the picture. Thats the first information we need to make post-Everstorm theories. Is that in canon, about filing paperwork like that? If someone is not their ideal self, ie they have a physical injury, they will heal back to their ideal self upon contact with Stormlight. If someone is not their ideal self, ie their sense of gender does not match their body, they should also heal to their ideal self upon contact with Stormlight. I dont see why physical injury would be necessary to heal. Surgery shouldn't be necessary at all. Its not multiple personalities, or alters, but the term genderfluid specifically means one's sense of gender changes. Some people will have girl days and boy days. Some people will have glamour fae and bog cryptid days. Some people's gender fluids* over a longer period of time, months or years. Its different for everyone. A person with one gender that isnt male or female is more like non-binary, or genderqueer. The 'fluid' bit means that it does change. *Using this word as a verb cause I dont have a better one. *genderfluid people. Its a descriptor not a noun . Id be super on board for Stormlight adjusting to fluid gender every time you breathe it in. That would be super rad.
  17. What does it mean? Firstly sin is a pretty christian concept itself. Pulling up a definition from google, we've got "an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law." We know this referers to Larkins, which are protectors of (this? all?) Dawnshard/s. And Dawnshards were used to break apart Adonalsium. So that fits on the surface, but it brings up a lot of questions for me. 1. Is the Shattering definitely the sin involved? 2. Who is the sin against? Was Adonalsium considered a deity? The God Beyond? Some other semi-deity like the Returned or Hold or Harmony? 3. The name 'Guardian of Ancient Sin' seems to come from the Dawnshard itself. But it doesnt have its own consciousness and it was presumably made/invested/given intent by adonalisum. If so, what was Adonalsium referring to? 3a. Are larkins not native to Roshar, if Adonalsium set them to guard the Dawnshard/s? 3b. Are larkins so rare because "the enemy" have hunted them down to make finding the Dawnshard easier? 3c. Who the heck are the enemy anyway? If Roshar has too many secret societies already, what does secret society land look like across the whole Cosmere? 4. Whats the connection between Larkins and Sleepless, and Larkins and Reshi great shells? We assumed crustaceans are all native to Roshar but we know Sleepless aren't, therefore possibly not Larkins either. 5. Lopen said something about old Herdazian gods, who are they are are they related to the listeners/Odium? *pauses shovelling pasta into mouth to realise Ive gone way off track* [Image description. A side character from Mean Girls is looking emotional. She has short blonde hair and a pink shirt. The caption should read "I just have a lot of feelings", but the word 'feelings' has been blacked out and replaced with 'questions'. End description]
  18. I started reading comments but then realised I wanted to just react first. Ill just add though re: If you read the acknowledgments, Brandon and his team put together a group of disabled beta-readers in order to make sure he handled the disability aspect well. I think they all did a really good job. I was kind of wondering why Lopen of all people ended up on this trip, but then he's there bonding with Rysn over hoe people act weirdly around disabled people? It was beautiful. Ok so....thoughts! CANON TRANS REP STORMLIGHT TRANSITION I am a happy bean! More please!! Really good disability rep!! More please!! Lopen realising that he was actually kind of being an ass and vowing to do better? Amazing. Im amused that the Herdaz language has words for all the different types of cousins. I would like a list of those words. for research purposes. Also Navani is queen? Jasnah is queen? So good. Lopen yanking ...Tulik? up into the air was....quite something. I dont remember there previously being a description of the giant mural that depicts a wasteland, but I am only partway through my re-read. I also love the character/plot point of Cord being a "rebellious teenager" and making different decisions regarding tradition than her dad who we all know and love. I love that she's also a great cook. I want to know more about Horneaters in general, they seem really cool. I had actually completely forgotten about the Perpendicularity they guard and how that willl come to into play more as people are more aware of Shadesmar. I wonder if Rysn is going to become like a dragon rider. I wonder if the Dragon from the interludes is a traditional dragon or some kind of great shell. Its curious that the Sleepless aren't native to Roshar. I wonder where they are native too. I dont *think* its anywhere we've seen before. I was starting to wonder if the fabrial stuff was going to start getting into like, mechanics for FTL travel. Im guessing thats what eventually will happen, there just needs to be some system for basically not running out of investiture between planets. My thinking is that a worldhopper brought aluminium over, and then someone else figured out how to soulcast it and it spread from there. How else would it have the exact same name in a completely different language? Ooh I also appreciated the multilingual struggles, when Cord, I think was like "oh my god someone who speaks words that work!". I really like Cord. Also the whole island is so cinematic? Its so visually beautiful? I have these gorgeous images in my mind that I dont have a fraction of the skill necessary to paint. Such a pretty island. Such sharp shabby rock guards. Such pretty creatures under the water. Such bleached sand and interesting city shape and storm in the background. Akinah could be an interesting place to take shelter from storms. I mean so is Urithiru. Speaking of Urithiru, very cool that people from all over and living and existing and trading there. Last we saw of it it was basically just Alethi and Alethi hangers-on from other cultures. One more thing - are the Reshi Isles all great shells, or is that just some of them, or a particular area? I realised that im not quite sure of that. Also why are luckspren the spren that create a degree of weightlessness? What does that have to do with luck? What trait do they have in common? Ok I think thats all my rambles for now. Im excited!! Cant wait to get my hands on RoW either!!
  19. Hi, trans person here. Biological sex is kind of a myth, its not actually binary, and (physical medical) transition isnt necessarily trying to fit one's body into a particular ideal of biological sex. We know the King was seen as a woman, has physically changed in some ways via Stormlight to better match his gender identity, and now uses he/him pronouns. That's all we know. Also @Beef Stew cr*pple is a really offensive word, you can just say physically disabled. Im personally super pumped to see Stormlight transition, I hope we get a lot more of that in coming books!
  20. I definitely fell asleep reading WoR release-week, woke up at a random time and had a minor debate with myself if I should keep using the book as a pillow or put it away and use my actual pillow. It wasn't half bad
