  1. Storm father - Carrie's on Honors duty on Roshar Ancient daughter - The closest honor spren to honor task with carrying on his will through finding someone worthy? Son of Tanavast - because syl had chosen him the storm father acknowledged him as the son of Tanavast? I think syl title is a much bigger deal than most people think.
  2. Yea I'm not entirely sure where cultivation and more importantly lift fits here. Lift being the biggest wild card in the series for me. The 2nd theory is that Dalinar and tanevast simply create the shard war by willingly uniting to working together after Dalinar ascends creating a unpredictable and deadly force. Perhaps the loophole which I think is a draw of some sort would be key here. There just seems to be too much foreshadowing of kaladin picking up Honor for me to ignore though
  3. I thought the answered lay in Wits story about his card games and never playing a hand he could lose but getting tricked into a draw. It would remove Dalinar from play and allow odium to do as he pleases in the meantime. He doesn't need to win he just has to not lose long enough to tip the odds in his favor.
  4. Everyone seems to think that Dalinar will take up Honor since he bonded the storm father but I think Kalidin has a much stronger case. "Honor is dead but I'll see what I can do" Being called the son of Tanavast by the storm father and the sibling. Has embodied Honor for his entire life always choosing the honorable path no matter the circumstances. Has a growing following that has "faith" in him and use his brand as almost a religious symbol. Honor is Dead but I'm convinced we'll see what Kaladin can do. If Dalinar holds a shard it would be the shard of War. Hes the only character so far that has been chosen by both odium as a champion and by honor with the storm father accepting him. I predict. 1. Dalinar loses to Odiums challenger 2. Kaladin ascends to honor. 3. Honor kamikaze into odium leaving Both shards and Dalinar picking them up with his new shard making him the big bad and free to leave Roshar. Who better to carry the Shard of war than Dalinar? What better opposite to Harmony?
  5. I absolutely LOVE the 1st book and I'm looking forward to the next. Was impressed with how much detail was seamlessly crammed into the story in such a natural way. The ending of book 1 was the best since Mistborn 3 for me. If you haven't read it yet then you should really give it a shot.

    Audible

Very disappointed in no audio version. Me and 3 other family members only listen to Brandons stories through audio format. Feels kinda crappy for the audiobook readers out there. I mean We even enjoyed the Rithmatis and you know how important imagery is to that story.
  7. Thank you! So I'm about done with book 2 and going to pick up 3. How important is the live ship trilogy to the overall story? I do find the story growing on me even though alot of the major twist so far have been pretty predictable (a reason i love brandons works...keeps me on my toes). If I could make it through wheel of time....than this should be np. Though I thinking of getting to the powder mage trilogy asap at some point.
  8. I'm honestly thinking of stopping after book 2 and just getting to the powder mage trilogy.
  9. Does it get better? Book 1 was fine but im 1/2 way through book 2 and it feels like a romance novel much more so than a epic fantasy series. I actually read "an ember in the ashes" a few weeks ago and it had less romance than the 1st half of this book. It feels like the romance is overshadowing the rest of the story. This is an epic 12 book series I just need to know if the romance takes a back seat later on and we can get more into the world and figuring out whats going on in the world.
  10. Got eye of the moonrat. Likely the 1st half and hated the rest of the book outside of the ogre scenes. Felt way to..rushed and YA for me. Read book one of the prince of thorns and just didnt like the main character and he didnt grow on me later. His goal for the next book made little sense to me and I didn't feel compelled t read the next book. Im liking the warded man so far. im about 2 hours into the audio version. Slower but more meaningful book.
  11. Anyone know if this is going to be a thing?
  12. "Tell me how did he die?" "...I will tell you how he lived" This is the heart of the issue I think. Epilogue can be vague at times and not offer the complete closure we always want but the point of the story is to take us in the lives of this characters and on their journey. How they fought How they loved How they lost how they cried How they accomplished Where they ultimately end up at the end is interesting to know to say the least but most stories are about the journey not the destination.
  13. Personally I loved the series. I have a thing for assassins though.
  14. Malazan Book of the Fallen I have 6 hours left in this audio book and the only reason im going to finish is to at least say i gave book 1 a shot. I simply do not care what happens to 90% of the cast... 1. book throws you in a ton of random viewpoints 2. 30% through the book you start to get a glimps of This post has been reported for attempting to skirt the rules is going on. 3. 50% through the book things are finally starting to makes sense.... 4. You barely stay with any group of viewpoint long enough to even care since as soon as you even think your starting to care the view point changes again to some random people who do not care for. If you like a M. bay movies where you dont need to think but you get nice explosions and can go "OOOooo nice!" To be fair the book are not simple and are complicated enough to demand attention to understand whats going on. You get huge magic and introduce to serveral super powerful characters that do really cool things but thats where the entertainment ends....there is nothing at least in the 1st book to make you CARE about why all these awesome things are happening. If you like big plots and people with crazy powers with limitless potential with people over 100k years old you may like these stories. If you want to actually connect to any characters or care about a plot after you spend 1/2 the book trying to even get a clue of than this book likely isn't for you.
  15. I had always thought It was just another AImian but after watching Brandon write the outline of e scene in real time It's confirmed that its the same Axies from book 1! I didnt see this mentioned in the WIKI or here already so.... Thoughts?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxFySrqdi8E&list=UU3g-w83Cb5pEAu5UmRrge-A
  16. He had a hard time with the blade when Adolin first gave it to him he Grimaced. He being a radiant means he would hear the death screams of the spren as he touches the blade just like every other KR.
  17. The ONLY KR who does not have a spren blade is Dalinar since the stormfather told him he wouldn't be a blade for him like the others. Every other KR we have seen has a "Sprenblade" as soon as they say the oath of their order. IF Renarin claims to be a Truth seeker he must have said his oath meaning he must have a blade....
  18. 1. possibly but he's had it this long so who knows
  19. ----------SPOILERS-------------- (someone please tell me how to hid stuff) 1. We know he bonded the blade Adolin won for him 2. We know hes a KR 3. he made a "rock" appear out of nowhere to make markings on the wall similar to how syl transforms into whatever Kaladin needed her to be during his fight. Meaning his spren can also turn into a shard blade if needed. This mean he's the fist we have too to have not 1 but 2 blades!
  20. "This act of great villainy went beyond the impudence which had hitherto been ascribed to the orders; as the fighting was particularly intense at this time, many attributed this act to a sense of inherent betrayal; and after they withdrew, about two thousand made assault upon them, destroying much of the membership; but this was only nine of the ten, as one said they would not abandon their arms and flee, but instead entertained great subterfuge at the expense of the other nine." This brings up a very important questions that we havent spent much time really digging into.... Which KR order never forswore their oath? 1. we know its not honor spren, kriptics, or where ever Lift has since all 3 claim to be the only spren of their kind around. 2. Who makes up the last order? I thought for a second maybe its the ghostbloods but they dont all seem to share a similar ideal 3. The "sons of honor" are my lading choice for the final group of KR. Amarams actions show that they don't mind lying, stealing or killing if they believe its the right thing to do. There is a ENTIRE Group of radiants hiding in plain sight!
  21. Restares appears to eb the leader but Iyatil clearly claims to have trained him.
  22. So a few things keep poking ut at me after listening to the WOR the 1st is the female ardent. 1. I forget her name but she is mentioned serveral times by Adolin and at least once by Kaladin. I feel like she is more important than we give her credit. A. says she join the ardents to get away from men...(a order full of men). Terris woman world hopper? Doesnt mind a bald head and was mentioned to be a very smart woman, B. The ardent in general seem to have connections to worldhoppers See You know who. C. The Ghostblood already have a direct connection with ardents see Kapsil from WOK. The ghostblood woman with the mask strikes me as very curios too. a. i can understand not wanting to remove the mask in front of shallan but why would she not want the ardents to see her face either? None of the other ghostbloods covered their faces exactly..just her and she claims to be the "teacher" of the ghostblood leader. She also has strong signs of world hopping. Is she possibly the female ardent? Second guess is the mistress of the highprince Shallan lived with which would give the ghostblood leader (im bad with names cant you tell?) a good opening to come to the battle with the parshindi and meet with shallan later. This leaves open the question of WHO is the leader of the ghostbloods? Have we seen him before his meeting with shallan? /rant over
  23. I've finished The Wheel of Time. Brandon did a great Job. It wasnt easy but its worth it to have read the series that inspired my favorite author!
